Hey guys,
My snapchat application stopped working a couple days ago. When I attempt to login it gives me the error, temporary login failed. I have read that this is an issue with other devices that are rooted. Anyone have any solutions? Thanks in advance.
Rooted devices have a little bit to do with the Snapchat Login Failure. Check to see if Xposed Framework is installed, and if it is uninstall it, login to snapchat (which then it'll let you login and see stories from others), and reinstall Xposed Framework if you need/want it on your device.
Thanks for the response. I'm on a custom rom, sick as hell v6. Will that cause issues if I uninstall it? When I go into xposed, the uninstall option is faded out and cannot be selected. How should I go about uninstalling xposed?

As long as you don't have any apps/modules that use xposed framework, then it should be fine. Uninstalling it requires you to download the xposed framework uninstaller (http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/unofficial-xposed-samsung-lollipop-t3180960) and if you want to, also download the installer and apk. For the S6 and S6 Edge, download the versions with "arm64" marked on the download.
Then copy the files to your phone and simply enter recovery mode and flash the uninstaller. After that, reboot and login to snapchat (also, uninstall the xposed framework app if it still won't login).
If you want to reinstall the xposed framework, then simply install the apk first, then boot into the recovery and flash the xposed installer.
Hope this helped you out
EDIT: Also, Snapchat won't log you out unless you log out or uninstall the app.
No go :/
I flashed the arm64 uninstaller and bootlooped

Maybe it's the xposed framework that's outdated as it was updated ~2 days ago. Try installing the new one and uninstall right after and see if that helps.
The xposed module is hard baked into the Sick as Hell rom. You won't be able to get by that. I know snapchat has been messing around with creating a lock out for rooted phones to prevent apps bypassing their screenshot policy. There are a few articles that describe that. If you're part of their beta program, unsubscribe from their beta group on Google+, uninstall snapchat, download and try again. If that doesnt work, you could try the app Casper temporarily to use Snapchat, but I wouldn't recommend using it all the time as SnapChat will catch on. Hope all this helps.

If you backup Snapchat with Titanium Backup before you install a custom rom with xposed you can restore the backup and have no issues.

So, i've used Snapchat on both
Stock (5.1.1 - Oi1 Rom) and Custom Rom (Renegade)
I can't seem to get it to work on the custom rom, i've always had to use the stock rom and it would work just fine, but on the other it would say "temporarily logged out" or something different, but when i boot back to stock, its fine and doesn't hesitate to say that.
Am i missing something here?? i've already tried resetting my password 5 times to be sure.
Snapchat 9.1.17.1.0 -- Xposed Snapprefs 1.6.2
Snapchat and Root
I don't use Snapchat, but this might explain your issue:
http://www.xda-developers.com/snapchat-is-at-it-again-and-blocks-root-users-but-for-how-long/
Snapchat detects Root and stops working, XDA builds a work-around into Xposed, Snapchat puts out a new patch and repeat.
Found something new: Try updating to Snapprefs 1.6.4. And you will find more help here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-snapprefs-ultimate-snapchat-utility-t2947254
Thank you!
I've actually ended up researching and figuring it outmyself my way or work around.
Snapchat checks or scans to see if "Xposed" which leads me to not log in.
So in order to use Snapchat with Snapprefs or 3rd party, you would need to either
Install stock and root it, then log into snapchat with the latest version and then go to recovery to install xposed.
or
Install stock and root then boot to recovery to install the custom rom and do no install xposed framework.
Once done with booting up and setting up, install snapchat latest version, log into it and then install xposed.
once thats done download 'xinstaller' and check to enable downgrading and updating and then install 'snapprefs' for all the
juicyness of customizations.
Profit!
My configuration.
Snapchat -
9.17.1.0
Xposed -
75 wanam 20151008 - seems to work best for me on both roms instead of v79.
Snapprefs -
1.6.2

I found a work around for it my phone died and I signed into my sc from another device used it and logged off when I tried signing in on my phone I got temp login failure notice this is what I did to get back on:
On a second device, download latest version and sign into Snapchat
Once done, root second device and download titanium backup
Make a back up of Snapchat from second device and send the .tibkp back up or whatever to the first device
On first device download latest version of snapchat and titanium back up and restore the data only from the file you sent to the first device from the second device
Once done use sc like normal
Works fine unless you sign out from Snapchat on the second device so what I did is I froze Snapchat on the second device and erased the back up.
Why does Snapchat do this? Does anyone have any idea why?

They make a silly app with an unenforceable premise, the app sucks and they block third-party alternatives, their security is awful, their background data drain is known to go nuts, and now they are blocking root users so they can better charge you for replays??
But still they can't tame the root..
p.s. the CEO is an Apple fanboy..
Sometimes snapchat just crashes a couple of seconds after opening it or sometimes it doesn't but when I try to open someones story it just crashes.
I can provide logs if someone can explain how to do it
To add to this, I've tried it on 1.9 and it doesn't work. This problem is all of the sudden and it used to work. I've tried uninstalling root and xposed and factory resetting none of which work. It works fine on CM13 and 14.1 but suddenly it stops working here.
Id also like to add that on freedom OS snapchat wont work since snapchat can sense if you are rooted. I think there is a way around like that root cloak app but havent tried it out yet. Anyone find a way around ?

You can login to snapchat if you aren't rooted. If you are rooted and need to login just uninstall it through the supersu app.
This again. You won't be able to log in ONLY if you have xposed framework installed. It's not "sensing" root.
It's crashing because you probably are using a custom kernel with cb. Snapchat works fine with stock kernel.

I'm using stock everything, have never went custom on my OP3 and it crashes every time when I open it.

Lately snapchat has not let me in and i know its due to safetynet but is there anyway i can get around this. And if there is may you provide a step by step guide. Thankyou in advance.
I would check out this thread. Helped me alot

Firstly, flash the xposed uninstaller. Boot up your phone. Install Snapchat. Login. Install Titanium Backup if you don't have. Take a backup of Snapchat. Flash xposed zip. Open Snapchat.
1 of the 2 things will happen:
Snapchat will work properly, then you don't need to do anything.
Second, if it asks for login, close the app and restore from Titanium Backup.
Yes i have tried this method before with no luck as of lately. This used to work for me before but now it does not.
It just logs me in then straight out.
I was having that issue. I found the same things others have said; I used to be able to log in after uninstalling Xposed. But recently I was only able to log in after uninstalling Xposed and unrooting. Of course after doing so and logging in successfully, I reinstalled Xposed and rerooted and everything works fine.

Hi...i too couldn't log in... So i tried unrooting first from the su app...it warned me that the phone might not boot...i did it and as the warning the phone did not boot...i then went to the recovery and flashed my rom again... Cleared cache and rebooted... Now i could log on to snapchat without root... Cheers... This method worked for me... Don't know the logic behind it... Phone was still rooted...
Hey guys,
I've done some searching around on this issue, and it looks like Snapchat is not allowing me to login as my device is rooted. However, I had the factory OxygenOS ROM (rooted as well) installed before and never had this issue. Now that I have installed Sultanxda's "Unofficial CyanogenMod 13.0 with custom kernel", I can no longer get Snapchat to login. Like I said, from the searching that I've done it look like it is root related, so I went into SuperSU and did a complete unroot. This still hasn't solved the issue yet, so now I'm stuck and not sure what to do. Is there something I'm missing or is there a way to solve this without having to reflash a different ROM and loose all the time spent setting this one up?
Thanks for the help!

Hi, the searching can be useful sometimes
http://forum.xda-developers.com/search/forum/5476?query=snapchat
You need an fully unrooted rom to login into snapchat, after that you can flash supersu.

Ah, looks like I just didn't search enough. This seems to have done the trick, thanks!
I think you just need to uninstall Xposed Framework for Snapchat to login and then after login you can install Xposed again.
This sounds weird but what worked for me was to download superkiwi via xposed installer, it's supposed to bypass root detection for banking apps in New Zealand but works with snapchat [emoji14]
I found this workaround in a thread somewhere and thought that it wouldn't hurt to try but actually works mighty fine!

Leaving this here in the hopes it helps someone else, took me a bit to find the correct steps.
Currently running the last official CM 13 build for the Droid Turbo (will be moving to LOS soon), rooted with SuperSU Pro, Xposed framework v87, on the newest TWRP.
Nothing worked, not Xposed Switch, Root Switch, nothing. In fact I had to reinstall Xposed Switch to be able to turn root back on, while Root Switch simply uninstalled the SuperSU binary, I had to reflash it. Finally I put it all together and in the following order I got Snapchat to work.
Make sure any OS root (my case CMroot) was turned off.
Download the correct version of Xposed framework Installer, Xposed Uninstaller, and the SuperSU binary (all flashable zip files) for your device to a location on your system that you can easily access from recovery. For me its my TWRP folder.
Uninstall Snapchat. Open a File Explorer and delete the entire Snapchat folder left over.
Select the uninstall "permanently unroot" option from SuperSU, but DON'T let it install the original... Whatever it is, the name escapes me. But don't let it!
Phone will reboot automatically after taking out root, boot to recovery, run Xposed Uninstaller, wipe Cache & Dalvik, reboot phone.
When the phone boots, confirm it is unrooted and Xposed Framework is uninstalled. A root checker app and opening the Xposed App worked for me here.
Install Snapchat, sign into Snapchat. It will accept your login if you did everything correctly.
*This step I did to save myself work in the future, but you can do it later. Turned on CMroot and took a TiBackup of logged in Snapchat in case I ever have to login again, I can just reload the data.*
Boot to recovery. Flash the Xposed framework and the SuperSU binary (in that order), wipe Cache and Dalvik, reboot system.
Open Snapchat to confirm its still logged in. If so grab a TiBack of it for use as needed later.
I hope this helps!

Bought my 5T last week (used) and immediately I installed magisk to root and xposed. Since then though I'm facing bizarre issues that come and go.
I was unable to add a Gmail account from settings as Google play services would crash
The Facebook messenger app would crash as soon as I open it, I downloaded the lite app and its OK.
The most common issue im seeing is Instagram crashing when I try to swap accounts. I can try to swap account, the app will hang and eventually crash. I try again and it will crash. But like an hour later it will be fine...
Also clearing dalvick and cache from TWRP seems to get it to work immediately.
I've had other things crash to which is strange as on my OP2 I had no such behaviour. The phone is lightning fast but these crashes are super annoying.
Anyone have any suggestions on what I could do? Not sure if reinstalling Oxygen OS could help and what's the most efficient way to do this while getting magisk/xposed back.
I have a 5T that has magisk installed. I did not install xposed yet and am not facing any if these issues. Maybe try uninstalling Xposed and cleaning cache?

I've got xposed 90.2-beta3(systemless) installed, version 3.1.5
Android 8.1.0 - Oxygen OS 5.1.2
Magisk manager is 5.7.0 and installed version is 16.4 (though it says latest version is 16.0)
Only have 3 xposed modules actually installed.. ChromePie, SnapTools Beta and Xinsta. I could disable the xposed status for a few days and see how I get on, I assume that is enough without uninstalling it? Not sure

yeah exactly, like I uninstalled xinsta but it didn't stop it crashing (sometimes) when switching accounts... Even Magisk just crashed a minute ago as soon as I opened it to get the version, it was fine when I re-opened it.

Nope
I did an OTA update which caused the phone to not be rooted and went back to stock recovery.
I used it for a few days and had no crashes, especially Instagram when switching accounts. Yesterday I flashed TWRP and installed Magisk root again and since have had crashes again... odd.
