VS986 Hard Bricked - Verizon LG G4

So my VS986 wont boot, light up or anything. No download mode either. Saw a tutorial on a fancy http://www.droidsavvy.com/unbrick-qualcomm-mobiles/ unbrick method however it didnt work. The only thing I can get is in device manager under Ports - Relink HS-USB QDLoader 9008 Com4. Sadly nothing came up under disk drives. I havent been able to really find anything on fixing it from this bad. Most threads fell off around a month ago with no more replies. Any ideas?

You might want to supply a little more info. How did it end up like this? What were you doing when it happened?

Well I was removing xposed so I could try and get Snapchat to work. That didnt go so well. Decided to flash back to factory. I think I may have selected the wrong kdz file using the LG Flash Tool via CSE Flash, but I cant confirm. ANy other info you would like to know? SOrry for lack of info, first time its happened this bad.

I can't remember will flashing the kdz wipe my rooted system img off my internal sd?

I hard bricked my phone while trying to root. Tried various steps but nothing helped.
Finally I did an RMA. Sent to LG. They loaded 13b and sent it back. The whole process took a week. No charge. They even covered shipping both ways.
If nothing works this is an option.

Why would you need to remove xposed to get snapchat to work? I have xposed with 2 snapchat modules downloaded and snapchat works fine.

I'm in a similar situation.I am using the Droidsavvy giude for the qualcom tool QFIL. I have gotten my phone to get the "Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008” MODE.
I need the "Flash.xml file " and the right rom type files to possibly restore my phone. can anyone help?
(nothing else will work I have tried all flash tools and still only the ( 9008 mode will come up)

Such a hard brick *might* happen if you downgrade. Or at least that's what I think happened, because although it's not often, the partition table does get changed every once in a while. And when it does, you can only move forward.

I have lg g4 ls991. mistakenly flashed a lower version firmware thinking it was the latest. the device is now hard bricked. no power, no download mode. luckily, I have extracted the firmware form the phone before bricking. I came across a few post where its possible to fix via sd card direct emmc. You will need to have SystemImage.bin file and win32Disk Image. I need someone to assist me on how to create the SystemImage.bin file. any help will be greatly appreciated!

Can you get into recovery or download mode?
nothing just black screen no led either but the computer recognizes the phone on devices settings it shows LGE androidnet usb serial port.
i tried every guide here on xda to unbrick and a few on other sites and noghting
the only thing i did not try yet is a tool called lg smart boot diagnosis tool that theres nowhere to download only an xda member seems to have this tool but im waiting to see if he can share the tool or no
I dont have much experience with lg yet but if there is a flashing tool for it since u can still get the computer to read you just the tool and stock rom reflash and startover
i tried that already the problem i got now is the phone cannot get to be on download mode lg flash tool gets me an error that can't change to dlmode. it seems im running out of options maybe i should send my phone to lg for repair but i rather not i would like to try a little more before doing that

To put it simply if you cannot get to download mode, at this time you are sol. Maybe in the future if we get the qualcomm files you could fix it if your pc recognizes in one way or another it is connected under ports. But right now as we stand we do not have the files to recover from your type of brick.
thanks for you reply it seems that im gonna have to send it to lg for repair i bought it second hand so t-mobile will not help me with this.
Can you get adb to recognize it? You might be able to extract the laf.img and use adb to flash it back to your phone. Then you'll have download mode back.
no adb either i tried that. i try all kdz methods, flash tool with tot file and modded dll it gets stuck on can"t change to download mode. thanks for asking
the only method i did no try yet is the lg smart boot diagnosis tool that a xda member has but dont wants to share the tool

This is true but two problems exist:
1) Correct me if this is wrong, if you brick your phone and don't automatically boot into fastboot mode there is no way to do it. You need to flash the full fledged laf.img so it is booted when you do the vol + plug in instead of booting to lg boot loader.
2) Even if his computer can recognize the phone what he has done probably makes it boot into QHSUSB mode and at this time we have no solution to fix it.
I have read somewhere on the g2 forum of fixing one of the types of QHSUSB bricks (they come in a couple of flavors) but I can't remember which one. I do remember he needed to flash the full fledged fastboot laf somehow then flash the aboot partition via fastboot. So if I was you I would do some digging in the g2 forums.
thanks everyone for trying to help.well i just send my phone back to lg for repair i will inform everyoneif lg repair my g3 or not thanks again
I am also facing this problem it's completely bricked when I connect device to computer it shows LGE ANDROIDNET SERIAL please help to solve this problem

[Q] Help to unbrick my LG G3

Hello friendly devs,
So I messed up big time. I updated to 23C via the OTA and then discovered I couldn't do everything that I wanted, so I searched around a bunch for a way to put TWRP on it (never had it on this phone before) and of course no good way. I tried flashing it, and I got the fun certificate verify error trying to get into recovery. I could still boot normally at this point. I should have stopped.
Anyhow, I found a post about flashing the 12b aboot and that would let me throw TWRP on there w/o downgrading and losing all of my data. So, I tried it. Needless to say, this did not work. Now, I cannot do anything really.
If I try to boot normally, I see the certificate verify error with the initial LG splash, then screen goes blank. One red LED and then persistent blue LED until I pull the battery.
If I try to boot into download mode, I get the same thing (except the download mode symbol - which stays until I release volume button) and then screen blanks, LEDS, etc.
Sounds like from doing some looking that I'm basically up a creek w/o a paddle. I can maybe try to get into qualcomm mode (but I haven't found out how to do this), and try to follow these: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/fix-unbrick-lg-g3-stuck-qualcomm-hs-usb-t2933853.
At this point, I'm thinking that's my only option. Does anyone have another idea, or at least advise on how to get my phone to recognize as 'Qualcomm HS-USB QDLoader 9008 mode'
Thanks for your help...

Thanks @jac10000, I appreciate your help! Unfortunately, that set of instructions didn't work for me. I get an error that says ''Model information check failed' when i try the security error section. I think it could be that my phone won't even show as an LG device. The best I can do is QDLOADER (and even that with special drivers, it plugged in as QSUSB_BULK), even though I had proper LG drivers installed (from previously using ADB...that's how I borked it originally). Do you know of any other things I can try? I've done many at this point and am starting to feel hopeless. Thank you again for trying to help me!
You need a different set of drivers I think. I had a big problem with the qhusb_bulk mode but after installing the drivers I linked on my post in this thread it read as Qualcomm 9008: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3072091.
Try it out and report back to us. You should be able to then run the boarddiag tool as per the instructions on the attached pictures of the op in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/unbrick-lg-g3-qhsusbbulk-qualcomm-9008-t3072091.
Follow all the instructions very carefully and you should be able to bring it out of a bricked state!!!

I was able to get it into Qualcomm 9008 state, so that's a positive. I tried some similar, but I guess slightly different instructions using board diag and wound up with 'Failed loading flash programmer' errors. I'll try these other directions tonight. maybe if they're more specific I'll have more luck.
thanks again!

I have somehow apparently screwed myself over worse. Before about half the time my computer was recognizing my phone when i plugged it in, and with the drivers, as the qualcomm 9008. But now, I can't even get that! I plug it in in download mode, or normal, or not on at all and the computer doesn't recognize it. I've tried uninstalling the drivers, reinstalling them, rebooting, not rebooting. I opened it up to try and short the test pin, as the instructions stated, but there was a metal covering over the qualcomm chip which I couldn't remove. I am starting to think I'm screwed. I have seen lots of people having success with d550 and d551, etc, but I'm worried the verizon model is different.
thanks again for helping me. If you have any other ideas, I'll try pretty much anything at this point!

I had my VS985 hard bricked when I used "DD" command to mess around to try to put TWRP on it. I tried every possible method out there and I found that they don't work on VS985. KDZ and TOT flash all failed, no ADB. I tried it for 2 weeks and I gave up and sent the phone back to LG for warranty service. Guess what? Even LG couldn't fix it. They had to replace the motherboard! I would advise you the same path. Since your phone is so screwed, LG probably won't be able to tell what you did to it. Just play dumb and say one day you wake up to a dead phone. It worked for me.
By the way, who told you to put a KK aboot to a L rom? That seems to be a sure way to hard brick your phone. OTA does not work with a modified phone (no root, no TWRP). When you get your phone back from LG, TOT it to 10b, Stomp root it, and install TWRP manager to install TWRP. Then you can find the Jasmine flashable zip to upgrade to L. Avoid all OTA stuff.

oh wow, huh. Was your bricked in the same way as mine, showing the 'secure booting error' when you try to start it up in any mode? That super good to know. I may just try. thanks for the advice!
Yeah, I will definitely follow your advice and do that, if I ever get it back! I followed a thread I found, but was clearly making a huge mistake. If only I knew that then!

When booting up, my phone did not show the LG and Verizon start up screen. Even the LED wouldn't light up. It vibrated once, so you know it was powered on. The screen was completely dark. When connecting to computer, the normal LGE device showed in Device manager and I could change the COM port to 41 for TOT flash. However, the flash would fail just like yours. The phone model, IMEI were all blank. KDZ errored out too. KDZ is more forgiving in mismatched phone model, and if even it fails, then you probably cannot save it.

Interesting. I appreciate the advice. I'll probably give it a try, since I seem to be out of other options, but I suspect the secure booting error will be a give away that i did something to violate my warranty.

LG G3 A (F410S) Test Point to force into QHSUSB mode (9008)

Hi All,
I have seriously borked my G3A in the process of rooting and unrooting it, and have somehow messed up the LAF partition and unrooted the phone at the same time. Now I have no way of re-rooting it, and since I cant root it I cant get permissions to reflash the LAF partition using 'dd'. Trying to get the phone into download mode just locks up the device and the PC doesnt detect it. I cant seem to get it into fastboot mode either, presumably because the LAF partition is not empty, its just broken.
So I cant update firmware, flash to stock, root the device, anything useful or fun at all...
The only way I can think of is to open up the phone and short the test point on the system board to get it into QHSUSB mode and reflash the entire thing using the tools that are out there for the G3. Does anyone know where the test point is on the G3A system board?
Or if you have any other suggestions as to how I might fix it, or force it into QHSUSB mode another way? most ways I know need root or DL mode in order to mess with the boot partitions but happy to be corrected.
Cheers,
Kane.

hard brick h811.... bdloader 9008 port need help

ive read lots of tools and stuff for the g3 and nothing on the g4
long story short i was using lgflashtool on a g3.
and my g4 got plugged up to the pc on accident and it booted download and started flashing ls990 tot before i could abort
now i got no download mode, recovery etc
Have you tried using LG Bridge? I'd install it, plug your phone in and click Software Update then click "Update error recovery" in the bottom right corner and see if that can get it fixed. Other than that I honestly can't think of another way to fix it but maybe someone with more experience will be able to help.
Any news? same situation for me.
Yes, updates please.

You need to switch Kingroot to SuperSU to make it permanent.
I've done that and it seemed successful. But after the command prompt finished it kept saying that "king.root has stopped working" and it keeps doing it every 3-5 seconds where I can't open any other app or anything.

It keeps saying " Unfortunately, com.kingroot.kinguser has stopped" after I downloaded the .zip file to change the king user to superuser.
And when I go into ES file explorer to delete kinguser and download supersuer, it keeps kicking me off with the same message above that pops up every 5-7 seconds. Much help would be greatly appreciated.

Does the tablet show up in Windows' Device Manager in the modem or port section as anything?
Does it show up as QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode? If so or anything like that, Google whatever it shows up as and you'll find the instructions to recover. You'll definitely need a TOT (or possibly a KDZ if need be, not sure if it'll work) to recover in that case.
What is the model # of your device (like mine is the VK810) and what did what you flashed say it was for?

I will let you know all the speculations when I get home. I do know I used a .kdz file to recover it but I'm pretty sure I used to wrong one. Now when I turn it on, it shows that blurry, static screen and about a minute into it, it will make a noise and do something (I can't see because of the screen) and then it turns off.
So now I'm here with my tablet looking like that and no clue on what to do lol

How do I check to see if it shows up in Device Manager? If you mean does it connect when I plug it into the computer, it makes a noise and attempts to download the driver. But it never fully downloads. But I know it connects because I installed the wrong firmware to make it bricked in the first place. Now when I turn it on it is nothing but the static screen and I can't see anything. I'm not sure what to do.

y there friendly XDA neighbor. I was just wanting to let you know that my model number is V495 and I used a file called V40010c_00.kdz file to try to fix the boot loop. But I'm guessing that wasn't the right software update and now it has my tablet with the screen looking like that and its not doing anything. As for is it showing up in device manager, I'm not to sure. I don't see anything with a name close to the one you matched above. I do see a bunch of LG Driver locations and an unknown device. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Or is it pretty much a brick? I sure do hope I can find a solution to this.

Hi! Thanks for the info. Maybe it would be easier if you list what things your Device Manager shows under both the "Modem" and "Port" sections, or if you post a screenshot/window-shot of just your Device Manager with both of those sections expanded. I think that at least the one that would show up in the Modem section says "LGE" something something something, like "LGE Phone Device" but that's not probably quite right either.
Unfortunately, you flashed a KDZ made for the V400.
QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode is what shows up in one of those two sections when an LG (and some other OEMs too) device has been bricked very hard but still recoverable, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything that you didn't see QHSUSB in the Device Manager. Other times Device Manager shows something more normal, which are the things you would see if you looked when the device is connected while in Download mode, such as when you flashed the KDZ, or a TOT. TOTs are harder to find though, but you could check the following Chinese website. http://www.lgbbs.com:41/thread-838-1-1.html I don't advocate it but a kind user on here did buy the 22B VK810 TOT from this link and shared it on here and it did turn out to be 100% legit as far as the file was correct anyway. Don't know if you'll find a V495 TOT, and depending on what your Device Manager shows you might not be able to flash it anyway.
You can always try LG Repair as a last resort. They did awesome for my tablet when it was under warranty - don't know if the service is similar for out of warranty.

Under the Modem tab in Device Manager I see one called "LGE AndroidNet USB Modem
And
Under the Ports tab in Device Manager I see one called "LGE AndroidNet USB Serial Port (COM3)

That's promising - those are what it should show especially when you're in Download mode, although of course don't get your hopes too high. If you can find a KDZ or TOT for the V495 (preferably a TOT because they flash more partitions than KDZs and you never know if flashing the wrong KDZ might've screwed something up other than what it flashed), then I'd try flashing it. Might be a job just finding a KDZ or TOT for the V495, but at least there may be hope.

So where could I possibly download a TOT file for my V495? And could you possibly tell me more about LG Repair and how I go along doing that, in case I don't find the TOT file.
By the way, another reason why my device could be the reason the screen always looks like static and I can't see anything is because I used LG repair tool once more after the V400 attempt (the one that wasn't for my device) and ran it with another one I think was suitable. But the window on the laptop closed out before the recovery was finished and I unplugged it from the laptop. Which I read if you do before it finishes it could cause complications.

Besides possibly the link I gave you in post #16? No idea - I'd have to Google. I'd start with Google.
Try something like:
Google:
Code:
V49510 KDZ
just like that since LG's first firmware for any device usually starts with a 10, but the letter and numbers that come after it can differ.
You can also Google for:
Code:
lg oem firmware
and you might find some specific places to look. Just be careful, you might find some sites that aren't what they look like they are and you could get something nasty like a computer virus if you're not careful.
This is a good place to find the exact build #'s available for LG's devices: http://opensource.lge.com/index. Type in V495 and press enter and you won't find the KDZs, just source code, but at least you'll know the first part of the # and letter combination although it won't include the _## part of the KDZ filename you might look for.
For LG Repair, go to LG's website and look for Support and look for RMA.
