Help: Improve trebly speaker - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What are some general suggestions for tweaking the speaker to make it sound acceptable...cause stock it honestly sounds awful...it really is tinny and piercing to the ear, really can't turn it up very loud...thanks for your help! Otherwise this is a fantastic phone.
Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

You'll get used to it (or not and sell it if it's a deal breaker) and never realize it's that bad
Otherwise you could use an equalizer app and tune it to your liking although it's pretty limited

Does it improve with time at all? Like it needs to break in a lil?

I would like to say yes (as is the case with many speakers), but it also could be one gets more used to it as time passes and that's all they hear

That could be part of it, but ya I know with headphones I've had they take a few days to break in and become warmer sounding...

Yes sir, that's correct. Will never get rid of my Peavey Delta Blues, best sounding amp I've owned!

I think this could be improved via software, I have problems with a select range of frecuencies only...

Viper4Android could help the speaker a little bit. Root required.

Its terrible. I hate my S-10 HD's. They sound terrible with terrible bass and they are very uncomfortable. The S-9 HD's were much much better imo. The sound quality was better and it was slightly more comfortable. They both take a lot of getting used to. Idk why Motorola would make a product that is worse than the one before it.
Are the freedom jaybird headphones good? I think I will buy that next time. Motorola is falling off man. I hope Google helps them see the light.

They work just fine with the Nexus. The main reason I picked these up was the sweat-proof guaranty. I read some reviews for other headsets saying that they would crap out after a couple of uses while doing any type of exercise. The two issue I see with these is the left ear sounds a little louder than the right, the other is that when the battery is low, you get a warning every 30 seconds. The warning doesn't come untill the battery is really about to die.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using Tapatalk
My opinion is to purchase this:
Jabra Clipper
I purchased a couple of bluetooth headsets but they never really compared to the options you get with regular headsets. This options, you don't have to choose. I use it while running/working out and provide a great compromise.
If you're a runner or sweat heavily then I would recommend against any bluetooth headphones that go into your ear. I have had 3 S9's go out on me and I heard the issue is not fixed in the S10's either. I had looked for other options but most of what I read lead down the same road. If you sweat a lot then these BT headphones will short out.
The best option for me was either the jabra clipper or the sony ericcson mw600. I went with the Mw600 which allows me to use my own headphones and obviously even if i sweat on those it won't short out the bluetooth device since it's no where near my ears.

Battery life and Headphone, no competition?

I really don't understand why there is no competition in these two fields. I think its been time enough and something should be done about this.
There is one set of head phones I(along with others I know) have always used and kept around even though its the only product I currently own from this company. I believe that company holds the standard for personal smartphone headphones. I believe these headphones are very convenient and comfortable. They come with the phone!
Every phone I get including the Nexus One, Galaxy Nexus, Bionic ect... I wouldn't even consider the headphones because of the mess they make.
The battery life, kind of all i really have to say. Everyone who's owned a smartphone with a very durable battery know how much there is lacking in competition. Well "I'm" telling you if you don't know. The same company with the headphone standard holds the battery one as well.
Am I wrong or what do you have to say?

Galaxy nexus awesome audio

galaxy nexus audio out is awsome, I've had several Android phones and nothing has such a powerful output as this phone. The bass is powerful and highs very crisp. I'm loving the phone more every day.

The stereo is awesome too. Mixes left and right very well.

Yes this device has superb audio out quality thru a good set of headphones. Best of any phone ive owned.
Yeah, it's really good. People used to ***** that it didn't have the Wolfson DAP, but it performs quite well despite this.
Yea screw the wolfson, my sgs didn't sound this good even with voodoo. This just blows everything out when I load poweramp and pump up the bass a little.
Sent from my transformed tablet.
Yeah my transformer has the olfsen with voodoo and it can't compete. The sheer power commingle out of this phone is incredible. I have bought 4 sets of headphones and they all dissapointed me until today when I tried them. On this phone and wow. Dub step sounds like it does in my truck. The bass rumbles my head yet every detail is crisp and clean. I've used those same headphones on my last 5 phones and was disappointed. HTC dream flat, galaxy s decent, atrix weak bass, lg optimus 3d too quiet, iPhone 4 flat, galaxy nexus like I'm connected to my Yamaha reciever.

I'm not impressed with beats headphones. I find they only focus on bass and highs and the mids are lacking as well as 3d imagery. I find the senheizer and bose headphones to be of much better audio quality covering the entire audio spectrum. I've been producing electronic dance music for years and no one I know in the industry takes the beats line of headphones seriously. Its all marketing.

Conclude the a100 mic?

I know this has been mentioned many times and we all know how low quality the mic on the a100 is, but has anybody came to a final fix ASIDE from using a headset, through some of my playing around I noticed that the mic hole is actually lined up wrong, the plastic sides of the a100 can be removed, and when I saw where the hole is, it was positioned over a piece of plastic right beside the mic, and the mic itself is blocked.
So out of desperation a drilled a small hole right over the mic, that did seem to make the volume higher, but the quality...oh so worse (I had to fill that hole again with superglue, and it looks horrible), if anybody would like to see, just take the small piece of plastic off the side (it snaps in/out) and see for yourself how the mic hole doesn't even line up.
Now the second interesting thing is that I saw a chat session with a technical support guy at Acer about the mic on this tab, and he actually confirmed that the mic shipped with it is in fact a cheap low quality mic, so I was thinking, would anybody be able to somehow solder it out and swap it with a much higher quality one? Say from a headset or something, I don't have any mics of the same size as the a100 but if anybody has one can you maybe try and look into it, I sure will try as soon as I get good enough with soldering and find a headset, I mean we really don't have anything to lose other than a cheap mic that doesn't really work .
Much appreciated, thanks

So, I've had the phone for a week now and I've been using eiher my generic Samsung headphones or my oversized Beats Pro. I decided to give the included headphones a try. Man, these were horrible. Am I the only one that thinks these are crap?

They really are awful. They feel like they will break in your hand. I tried them just to see how they would sound, never touched them again. I use my skull candy ear buds. Not the best in the world, but they have a good flat eq; which I like being a guy who records, mixes, and masters music.

They're unmarked noise-cancelling Beats. They're not amazing quality, but they're certainly not terrible. 7/10 maybe. This has been discussed in the other forums for the carriers who received headphones with their phones. Seeing as I didn't pay extra for it, and not all carriers received it with their phones, I'm quite happy with it. The headphones work, they didn't come broken or defective, so why complain? Beats is designed for low bass, so if you're listening to country or pop music, it's not going to sound great. While listening to the music genres it was designed for, I was pleasantly surprised at how well the music came across. Listening to spoken audio or music with little bass will not be perfect on any Beats product, let alone some free earbuds. Bose or Audiotechnica will blow these out of the water across the spectrum, but when you didn't pay specifically for them, these are quite satisfactory.
