hello all
i have a question are few
first i have a hd2 that i have flasht and i like that very much
now i have a desire hd and i see sometimes something like root the question is is this the same as flashing ?
and how do i do that and what is it that i can do more when i root de desire
and what do i have to do and where can i find the stuff
someone help me pls
hi it would take me awhile to explain so here is a good place to start reading about root/s-off and flashing new roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846248
but if your desire HD has the new firmware 1.72.405.x (check in setting>about phone>software) this software can't be rooted and you would need to downgrade the software to older version(1.32.405.x) which can be rooted you can find how to downgrade if need be here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
so if you have older firmware don't update it until you have radio s-off
hope this gets you started.
thanks for your explanation
Hey all, this may have been asked before but I did a search and couldn't find a thread quite like it!
I am currently running Android 2.3.3 and HTC Sense 2.1 on my HTC Desire S. I have used the Revolutionary method to S-OFF and root the phone, which allowed me to uninstall branded bloatware and add some interesting apps.
I have not been able to update the phone as quite frankly I have no idea what I'm doing, and the OTA update will brick the phone. Can anyone please tell me what I need to do to get the latest version of Android and HTC Sense?
I'm in the UK on the Three network. After doing an extensive search for the specific RUU matching that, I can't seem to find it unfortunately.
Many thanks for your time.

Well this is the desire section, not desire s. Post here for better halp.
Also its probably better to flash a custom rom, since you have already s-offed and i assume you have installed a custom recovery.
Check the desire s developement section for a rom you like and flash it.
Ah, my apologies, I didn't see a Desire S forum when I looked. I'll follow your advice!
I have restored and such on my Samsung/Nexus devices but browsing through here has me all confused haha.
My friend has a Virgin Mobile HTC Desire 816 (USA stock non rooted), he recently accepted the Lollipop update that came out updating you guys to 5.0.2. The issue is his phone is constantly rebooting now and would like to return to the firmware before you guys got 5.0.2 (Which I assume the Desire was on 4.4.4?)
I can't seem to find a guide that doesn't involve rooting and such, and I see mention of something called RUU? Is there a site that has all of the past firmwares to flash? Any guidance on how to accomplish the old firmware flash would be greatly appreciated!

You'll have to root and unlock bootloader then relock boot loader but you should be able to get back to KitKat this way
Or just run the kk ruu.exe...found in the same link
I rooted my phone an year back I guess. I installed the CWM recovery and SuperUser. I did this after I installed the lollipop OTA update. Now, I want to install the Marshmallow OTA update and encrypt my device so, I wanted to unroot it.
I found other threads, but they were all for HTC Desire 816 running on Kitkat OS, I am kind of nervous that they will brick my device. If someone can post a link of the Stock Recovery (suitable for my situation) and the steps (detailed ones...please ), he/she will get a super-hug from me.
I have a HTC Desire 530 using Android 6.0.1 and im trying to update to the 7.0 that i see has been put out. For some reason every time i search for update it says no update available. Is there any way to manually update my phone using my computer or am i going to HAVE to root it? If im going to have to root can someone point me in the direction of a decently reliable walkthrough? Thanks in advance.
