I think I bricked my phone? - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My phone kept freezing so I figured I would wipe everything on my phone and just reboot it and it would give me a fresh install, BUT I wiped EVERYTHING cache, internal, external storage and now when I try to reboot it says "No OS installed! Are you sure you wish to reboot?" when I select Yes it just reboots and I see the samsung logo and then it turns off. I tried hooking my phone up to my computer via USB and copying a ROM zip file to the external or internal SD and when it is copying it gives me a error saying "The device has stopped responding or has been disconnected" I tried taking my SD card out and putting it back in and formating it and that didn't fix it.
My phone is a Sprint Samsung Note 4 and I was using the USB cable that came with the phone.
Any help would be much appreciated!

From another thread with no OS...

If you have your PC USB driver installed, boot into recovery, connect USB to PC, goto mounts on TWRP and enable MTP. Then you should see phone and card folders to move your ROM to.
If you use phone folder, don't wipe internal memory before flashing ROM.

...BTW, I checked recovery for USB MTP on my PC. If I go toggling buttons like mount system and enable MTP and disable MTP, it eventually appears on PC USB devices. It's just slow to pop-up. Give it time. The toggle will display as disable MTP; that is the enabled indication.

I got a PM from the OP in that thread, he did get a good ROM zip from PC to card on phone and flash and boot. He retired from posting for the night because it was so late.

You could just Odin the stock tar and root again.

MTP is enabled, I see the the two folders, but as soon as I try copying files to the folders I get an error message :/

Did you try mounting system? What kernel are you using?
It may sound strange but keeping your phone's screen awake may make a difference too.
I wouldn't hesitate to just Odin the stock tar if this doesn't help.
Edit: you could also unmount the sdcard and remove it and write to it with a USB sdcard reader.

I put the SD card in my Tab S 10.5 and am currently copying over the zip, hopefully this works.

That works too. I was just editing my reply as you responded.

Well it worked by installing the ROM, but now it just boots and says "Could not do normal boot, Odin Mode (High Speed)" Then shows the little android guy and downloading... :/
EDIT: This was the ROM zip I used: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/development/rom-sixperience-n5-port-v1-0-beta-t3204460
Won't let me boot into TWRP mode
Also is there a step by step guide on how to get back to stock using ODIN? I've been searching, but no luck.

Do you have 910P Sprint phone or something else? Sprint version uses Snapdragon processor.

Odin stock tar is simple. You already have the USB driver, right?
Power down
Pull battery 30 seconds
Boot into download mode
Flash in Odin 3.10.7 with defaults
Let it boot, go through setup wizard
Look for one activation reboot request
Test data and GPS
Odin TWRP with no auto reboot
Pull battery and USB
Boot into TWRP
Follow ROM OP for install instructions

Stock OK1 tar is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=63868221&postcount=1
Verify the md5 with a md5 checker on your PC.
Extract only the tar.md5 from zip for Odin to find. I.E., right-click, open archive with 7zip and drag the tar.md5 to Odin folder.

[HOWTO] unroot Complete stock guide with FAST working links

First, thanks to all the Devs that put in all this work for free!
There has much confusion around unrooting the GSII. Zedomax was kind enough to make a once click unroot for us but there is trouble with it removing the customer kernels that have been included in some of the roms. I have put to together one place where there will be working links for everything that has gone missing. Getting stated there are multiple methods to unroot the phone and bring it back to stock, ODIN and Clockwork MOD recovery
Clockwork Mod Recovery Method:
Step 1. Download these 2 files :::Stock Kernel::::Zedomax's unroot rom::: and put in the root (meaning not in a folder) of the SD card.
Step 2. Boot the phone into recovery mode by hold vol +/- and power once it shows the Samsung logo let go of everything (Or from the power menu if you are using the JUGGERNAUT best rom IMHO).
Step 3. Using volume +/- key highlight "Install Zip from SD card" select it with the POWER key then using the same method select "Choose zip from SD card"
Step 4. Highlight the downloaded file (should be named "kernelstockcwm.zip") and select YES wait for it to complete
Step 5. using step 3 and 4 now select "SGH-T989-UnRoot_ROM_Zedomax" and YES.
DONE! Phone will be mostly stock, at least enough to return the device with out worry. (Zedomax's restored rom is dodexed tho)
ODIN METHOD-
Step 1. Download files to computer
ODIN LINK
Kies LINK
STOCK TAR (Thanks to Przekret) Rezipped and checked files (Odined my self back to stock) and removed password
Step 2. Install the KIES program on your PC REBOOT then extract ODIN and the Stock zip file to a folder on your computer.
Step 3. Run ODIN and put your phone in Download mode. (Have usb plugged in the computer and Hold VOL +/- on the phone and plug USB in) Once you see the download mode screen hit VOL +
Step 4. Select PDA from within odin and navigate to the extracted .tar.md5 file and hit START. When it completes give 6-10 min the phone will automatically reboot for you.
STEP 5. Thanks to Mikeyinid If you get a boot loop reboot the phone into recovery (Volume up+down and power until Samsung logo appears after let them go. Highlight Wipe data/Factory reset and select with power)
Hope this helps, didnt really see a definitive howto with steps and working links.

No offense to zedomax, but his zip shouldn't be included in any unroot/return to stock how tos. The odin package is the only true method. Zedomax's zip is deodexed, and while T-Mobile may never know, its still not stock. Not to mention the fact people have already reported in several other threads that his zip is not flashing the stock kernel.

But after it passes the S2 screen. I get all these bunch of E:/ errors saying it can't mount or file cannot be specified in red letters.

Maybe your cable is bad and it caused the partitions to be screwed up during the flash. It almost sounds like the data partition thing that was plaguing users for a while.
Try checking the option in Odin to wipe or reformat partitions. I'm not at the computer so I can't say exactly what box it is.

Is it suppose to stay on setupconnection for awhile?
Not really, maybe a few seconds. I always had trouble when I had the USB connected before opening Odin. I usually open Odin, boot into download mode, connect the USB, then after I see the COM port pop up I will select the tar and flash. I never really needed to select re-partition though.

Please tell me, i'm having the same issue as you
Instructions:
1: Download a GB TW ROM (EG30 STOCK ROM)
2: Download the provided pit file HERE
3: Open ODIN 3.x
4: Place the EG30 ROM in the PDA slot
5. Place the pit file in the PIT slot.
5a. Make sure the Re-partition box is checked (located on the left side)
6: Put your phone in download mode.
7. Plug it in, and click start
This method worked for me. It may or may not successfully work for you. So try at your own risk.

You could possibly use EL29 since the partitions are the same, you will need an EL29 PIT file. I suggest using what was already linked so that you don't have to go on a wild goose chase.
EG30 was the first GB release. Just use that then follow the OTA path up until FL24 ICS. Then use Kies to update to GB27.

Not able to flash recovery.. help please

Hello all,
I was hoping one of you can help me. I purchased an s4 m919 yesterday from Tmobile. It is fully stock and it arrived with 4.2.2 M919UVUAMDL.
I am no stranger to the world of rooting, roms and cwm. I had an s2 back in the day so I am no stranger to odin either. Basically my goal is this:
1. Install CWM
2. Backup Stock FW in CWM
3. Install Custom rom from dev section
My process with odin is as follows:
make sure all is UNchecked except auto reboot.
place appropriate cwm tar in "pda" section
click start.
The process begins and instead of passing it fails. My phone also softbricks and I have to restore with kies.
I've already restored and bricked once thinking that maybe the first time was a bad download.
I have no ideas. I've googled and searched on xda and nobody seems to have a problem flashing recovery.
Let me know if more info is required.
Thanks,
frustrated and confused
Are you rooted? Try installing through the Rom Manager app itself?
After you have rooted download cwm from market and follow the prompt's once clock work mod has flashed do a backup and you will need to download ad away by chain fire this will reset the flash counter and once that is done enjoy flashing
Sent from my SGH-M919 using XDA Premium HD app
Well it looks like ive run into a more immediate problem. Like i said I tried it once and it bricked I succesfully recovered with kies. I tried another download and the same thing happened. I went to restore with kies and now im getting an error in kies about 70% in. I need to go to emergency recovery and I do and that errors out. If problem persists contact samsung. Great.... I'm going to try and restore to stock using odin but my phone just seems to hate odin.
Edit: i tried restoring stock image in odin and fails almost right away. what is with this phone ?!
Try another USB port, and stock USB cable if you aren't using it. If you are grab a different cable and try it. If still errors out try another computer.
From my understanding you should have auto reboot UNchecked when Odin flashing CWM. Pretty sure you're supposed to leave everything unchecked and then after it's finished you unplug, pull the battery and then turn on the phone. Looks like your problem is before this though, so I would try another computer and make sure that you're using the stock cable.

Tried different usb ports.
Even tried a diffrent pc, drivers are up to date on both and seems GN2 will not connect to odin.
Please help. Thanks
Find another cable. If it still doesnt work reply here. I will think of another way to do this. Now when you say you wiped the os, what process did you do?

Using twrp i attempted to flash Macksrom Allstar V5 it failed as it always has when ive tried to flash a rom.
It reads
Finished running boot script.
E:unable to open zip file.
Error flashing zip'/ extsd/
Updating partion details...
I proceded to atempt the flash again and chose to wipe, unknowingly i must have wiped the OS as i tried to reboot twrp warned
No OS installed. Proceed?
I failed to mention on one of the computers i tried to connect to odin. Odin did have a teal com indicator that never turned yellow as it should.
Futhermore i didnt get to flash the stock rom as it hasnt connected. I downloaded the stock from a web site that the guy on rootgalaxynote2.com suggested.

Is there any reason why the GN2 would not be read by odin in download mode?
For more help on this I will ask the mods to move this to the correct section. For future reference if your question is device specific and your device has a forum, then you can post in the q&a for your phone. I am unsure of what could be causing the issue at this point. But I know alot of people in that section are smarter and have more experience than I.

Thanks for the help so far. I am able to consistanly get a teal [COM] indicator on odin now, must have been combination of cords and pc ports.
Yet my drivers are up to date why isnt it yellow so i can flash?
Is tgere a number in the box next to com? Is what you are using a one click? If so I think its supposed to be teal. If you see a com number flash.

Using odin3 version 3.07 teal [com7] im not sure if its one click. The stock firmware is from samsung-updates.com the tutorial i watched said if com is teal to download drivers and it will be yellow and im ready for lash.
Aother question instead of the stock could i just flash the rom i intended to orginallly by
Unzipping and flashing the tar file via the pdf, even if its teal?
I would not recommend flashing an unzipped rom through odin. What you could do is just try to flash the tar version of twrp from goo.im. make sure its for this phone. Once flash bpot to recovery and flash.

Have you tried to restore? I had that happen to me. It said no os installed so I went back and restored my backup. What I think happened is that you are running a 4.2.2 ROM and you're trying to flash a 4.1 ROM and it causes some kind of conflict. I am not an expert but I think that's what happened in my case.

Just a quick question. Are you running odin as admin? If not try that

So I re partitioned my phone last week and screwed it bad. SO YES I DO NOT HAVE A OS. but I been trying for the past 3 hours to replace it. I downloaded the Stock rom for the SPH-L900 and tryed to replace it using ODIN 3.07 and ODIN 1.87. No joy. I get the "sboot.bin" fail error. I found another link that is supposed to take the phone back to 100% stock but the download in the link is saying a day or so of downloading due to me trying to use the public library's wifi....I honestly dont know if it will work but for those who are having problems with sboot.bin here is the link. I take no credit and I am not responsible if you melt your note II. Hell im gonna try it soon as I can so mine may be melted too. best of luck

If you have trouble getting the bootloader and/or Modem to stick, install "Triangle Away" by @Chainfire and follow the directions to reset your counter (even if it says zero), then boot into download mode, and re-flash them with Odin and they should stick.
To verify, you can download "Phone Info - Samsung" and make sure that all 4 items say NF4 (Bootloader, Baseband, PDA and CSC).

@bobbyphoenix noted the "changelog" is here: http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-9050
Enjoy, and as always, slap that Thanks button!
For general discussion about NF4 - @CravingMender9 started a thread HERE.
To update to NF4 from NE6 or NF1 rooted with Knox 0x0:
***NOTE THIS IS NOT GUARANTEED TO WORK AND I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE***
IF YOU ARE UPDATING FROM PRE-NF1: It has been noted by several members that you may have issues with Wifi Calling and VoLTE if you do not remove your SIM card before updating.
Download the FULL stock firmware package above directly to your device
Download and install Mobile Odin Pro (MUST BE PRO VERSION) From the google play store
Download and install Triangale Away from the google play store
Launch Mobile Odin Pro and select "Open file ..." and select the FULL stock firmware package you downloaded above
Make sure the checkboxes for "Enable EverRoot", "Inject SuperUser (SuperSU)", and "Inject Mobile Odin" are checked
Click "After Flash ..." and select Download Mode
Download the MODEM+NON-HLOS combined package and the BL package from the first post to your PC
Download and extract Odin 3.09 to your PC
Launch Odin on your PC
On your PC in Odin, click "BL" and select the BL package you downloaded above
On your PC in Odin, click "CP" and select the MODEM+NON-HLOS package you downloaded above
On your PC in Odin, make sure ONLY the "Auto-Reboot" and "Phone Bootloader Update" boxes are checked
On your phone, in Mobile Odin Pro, click "Flash Firmware" and follow the prompts
Once your device reboots into download mode (and doesn't have the progress bar), connect it to your PC using the USB cable
Once Odin 3.09 sees your device, click "Start"
Once your phone reboots you should be on NF4, rooted, stock, and Knox 0x0
Enjoy! :good:
EDIT: Step 3 is optional. If you download and install it, the only reason you'd need it is if the modem and/or bootloader do not stick.
EDIT2: Added instructions for the MODEM+NON-HLOS package for Odin that I accidentally left out. Oops!
Thanks a lot, much appreciated!
Thank you.

Fixed... Dunno what happened there, but it ate the one for Triangle Away too. Fixed them both, and added the URL for MOP.
In order to get the baseband to stick, you must enter download mode via the buttons after the phone is completely turned off. It is this way for the S5 also. If you flash via odin after using the os to boot into download mode the modem won't stick.
Is the link to the modem incorrect? Filename says NF1?

Is there an change log around?
I used Triangle Away in conjunction with Odin and managed to get my bootloader and baseband to stick to NF4. But, for some reason I can't get the CSC or the PDA to stick.. they're still reading NF1 in the Phone Info app linked in the OP. I tried flashing stock recovery and kernel to no avail. I'm running Tweaked 3.0 on the NF1 base.
As for the Odin version I'm using, it's 3.09. I'm flashing CSC via the CSC mode, modem+NON-HLOS via the CP(Phone) mode, etc.
Thanks for posting these, by the way.

I had the same issue as mocklee. CSC & PDA didn't take. I'm not worried about Knox, though.

Can it be done with desktop ODIN?
So I used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2672393 to get the update to KK. Can I simply replace the ROM from there to this one, and just redo it with the same steps?
What is modem+nonhlos (combined) vs modem-hlose.bin??
