Hi there!
I've been a member for almost 6 years now and although I'm not a developer, I've always wanted to provide feedback about the ROMs I install and the issues I have but this restriction of X posts before being able to post always got on my nerves and I've ended up not providing any feedback. I had a lot of devices I have 6 android devices at home, most of them with custom ROMs and I want to help the ROM developers.
Is there a better way or someone (admin?) who I can contact to provide me that privilege?

Start a thread in the Q&A forum, when you cannot post in Development.

I feel the same way, im an it tech, and consider myself to have pretty good knowledge on roms, rooting, etc. I recently have spent the pass couple of days testing the miui rom for the xperia x10, for trip. I can post and bugs or fixes that ive discovered cause i dont have enough posts. I have to go around looking for irrelevant forums just to be able to post something, which in probably can be considered spamming. I hope Xda finds a better convenient way of controlling spammers but it is unfair for actual techs/future devs.
Regards
Add me to the list I'm to the point of using 2 or 3 different Rom parts to make my own yet can not post in the Android section

I really don't know xda's policy on making special exceptions, but here's what I did and would recommend to all of you:
Do some charity work by heading over to Q&A and answering some questions people have. Lots of the people there are the newest of the noobs and could really use some help. If you feel qualified to post on dev forums, then you definitely have the skills necessary to solve many of the questions people have there.
Just my 2 cents

If you make useful posts, then you will be able to post in dev... That's the precise purpose - it's to stop new users joining, and immediately asking questions in dev, or harassing devs for XYZ
...
If I can prove that I know how to build the AOSP and know my way around Android builds, do I still have to follow the post limit. At the same token doesn't it require some knowledge of programming in general to be in the devs section. Is there a hidden forum for the real developers also? Anyway I am new here but appreciate everything deeply. The bootloader tools are really appreciated. I don't see much of fastboot or a shell with a linux mini shell like kboot. Maybe I'll post a few more random posts.
Oh come on guys, it's only 10 posts. How hard is it to post something useful or meaningful 10 times?
yea this sucks lol

Your right its not a lot but if i've been reading the forums for months and just need to asking a quick question, it becomes a pain in the ass trying to get to 10 posts

But your question belongs in Q&A, hence your point is moot.
Questions are not development and belong elsewhere
Do you think a thread for people to post the 10 replys would be deleted? x)

Yes. I do .
When can do my post anyone knows how i can close this post after i get my 10 posts that it requires me to put, I Put android and windows 7 on my phone and i have put android and wp7, i am not that new!
There was a 10 post limit put in place to prevent a lot of "noobs" posting questions in the development forums, which is the wrong place.
Once you get 10 posts, you can post in any forum. It won't take long to make 10 posts in other forums. We have an off-topic forum where you might be able to find some threads to reply in. It's a good place to start
Got already my 10 posts but still canĀ“t post where ever i want.
I`m new member too, but I think Is good idea apply that rule.
i should get 10 posts as soon ss possible

I totally disagree. A 10 post limit is really rather lame since the noobs that need spoon feeding will post garbage to get to a 10 count, then unleash the hell that is typical of people who are too lazy to read first and ask questions later (don't even get me started on the Search function)
I also understand the irony that this my first post, and yes, its both to berate the noob community and the forum. My intended first post was to give feedback on the stability of CM7 stable in the Dev forum like the other 51 pages of comments, yet here I am, going through the bull**** hoop jumping to even post.
****ing makes my head hurt. FAIL.

Thanks for the info

Hello. This is very stupid. 10 post for nobs isnt good idea.

Go to your device support area and start helping people. You'll get to over ten posts in no time, and probably learn lots in the process.

I agree with you sir its a awful idea
I am unable to post in the dev threads after my 10 posts .. i understand the point of the limit but i merely want to post found bugs ..
Iv also seen people with alot more post who still ask very simple and stupid questions in these threads .. so that kind of defeats the purpouse of the limit ..

IIRC the forum stats update every hour so it may take a little while after acheiving 10 posts before you can actually post........
Should be soon dont worry
Unfortunately your right, there are members with more than 10 posts who do not seem to be able to differentiate between a development forum and a Q&A forum...
However the 10 post rule has dramatically reduced the clutter in the development sections across the board, trust us on this.

So, you were never new, huh?
New people should read and learn and not post without searching, but no one should be saying they shouldn't be here. We were all new once.
Im Getting My 10 Posts In Now
10 posts ?
tbh
the 10 posts don't seem to deter clutter...
also, just coz you haven't posted 10 times doesn't necessarily mean you can't add value !
That the worst bit of resource management I've ever seen - a 'noob' may have something incredibly valuable to add - even if it's a 'dumb' question - it may provoke a non-noob into a new idea.
I have been on several forums - been on Linux, Ubuntu, Maemo devel ( hey they alrready got GB 2.3.3. running on an N900 ! ), Meego devel, iOS.... all can add value as essentially all based on same platform
..... - just wasting one of my 10 posts here as a noob !....

Dude, with those information-less posts you could be kicked finaly. You should test ROMs for your device and give feedback to the devs. Or try to help other members with problems. Additional there are many apps from xda-members you can test and give feedback about them.
good luck
I was actually wondering this as well. I'm in no hurry though lol. Is there a post requirement for moderators? (Just out of curiosity, I have no where near the experience I need )

There is no automatic "spam to come posts and be a mod".
There are criteria listed in the announcement in about xda forum (this one) when applications open...
Mainly demonstrating being helpful over a fairly long period of time and being a good example.
You will notice most mods have fairly high post counts though but it is not as a result of that.

Thank you David.
Does that 10+ Post-rule also apply to adding a signature?
I kinda like the 10 post rule, BUT, it is a bit annoying, since people like myself tend to not read the forum rules, since they are most likely the same on most forums anyway.
So you read a forum for ages. At some point you choose to create an account but still just keep reading since you DON'T actually have anything to add that has not been mentioned before.
Then finally comes the day, when you tried out a new released Kernel and would actually like to add some of your experiances with it and can't post.
I don't think I'm the first experiancing that problem before, cause you didn't realize you NEED to post to be able to post.
well well, as you may think, this post all in all is also a +1 to get to my 10 posts.
cheers

There is an 8-Post rule for signatures, but for a totally different reason. Spammers were using Signatures to advertise products, adding the restriction pretty much removed these types of bots.

yeah, thats about what I immagined would be the reason.
Its a good rule, but can be pretty annoying...not like I'm gonna care about it anymore in about 30 mins anyway.
Same goes here, i think its time for me to contribute as well.... Still needed another 7/8 post to start posting in the respective threads
I have been lurking on this site for sometime and also feel I have something to finally contribute so hopefully I dont run in to any server issue after my 10th post, really like this site!
Hi mods
I after years I am bothering to ask that you please remove the "n00b" restrictions on my account. I am not one to wank away on your pages just to make them sticky... I generally have feedback to give or questions to ask and as much as I always go to other sources to post rather than here due to restriction, I have a lot of experience with OUYA, and now I am just annoyed that yet another android topic I know so much about, I cannot give input without jumping through anti-spam hoops on your page... and don't get me started on LG or Sony XP (if any of you know my professional bg you know what I mean)
I am not going to go helping fellow users when I have to wait 5 minutes between posts when scanning forums during a meal break... just like my detailed post on how to flash to LG's went largely unnoticed due to your restrictions originally.
look at my posts and make a judgement.
look at my OUYA profile and make a judgement.
facebook me and make a judgement.
anyway I don't think you are like most tech forums... but I don't really want a teenager with an ego to tell me to waste space with x posts and make a bait-post to get x pluses to get more access... I just want to help others how I like to be helped - openly and free so let that happen

Sometimes there is a short delay after you make your 10 posts. Won't be long now...
