I have an LG g4 rooted running genesis 3.6 room and LG g4 stock rooted kernel.
Recently I have noticed that when using a USB otg lead and flash drive, it appears under storage on the settings menu but doesn't appear in any file manager. Can anyone help please.

In your file manager. Go to system then storage. You can find your flash drive there. Or use Solid Explorer which shows the flash drive but you have to give permission the first time.
I tried that too. It does show up in Settings>Storage. It doesn't show up in any file manager.

Use solid explorer. It will allow you to see it

As said Solid Explorer works just fine indeed :good:
on stock rooted canadian variant, showes up perfectly fine. maybe its the rom
I've tried that too. Still no joy. Could be the rom.
Hi
The OTG functionality was working fine until the upgrade to 6.0.
After upgrade stopped working. No able to connect keyboard/mouse or SD/USB via OTG.
I have openned a ticket to LG support and still waiting for feedback.
Regards
I had nothing but good come from otg keyboards ps3 control harddrives with ext power. Everything even a old logitech microsoft flight sim joystick. On mm u do have to grant perms. Lollipop also try shutting of usb debugging sometime that interferes

Sorry if this was answered before, I couldn't find an appropriate thread for that.
So I installed latest OrDroid 2.7.5, everything went smoothly and works fine for now.
But I have issues trying to connect the phone to my PC and access internal storage.
Once I connect the USB cable I get the usual "USB Connected - Tap to change settings". Once I press it I get the "Portable hotspot & tethering" instead of the window where I choose charge/USB only.
In My Computer it appears as Digital Camera "HTC One X", but not as Removable drive as it was before.
Any ideas how to access the storage again?
Thanks in advance
This is not specific for ordroid but
Check under
Settings
Storage
Usb computer connection ( in three dotmenu or context menu)
It should be mtp or mass storage.

Thanks, but that is also a problem. I cannot find the Usb computer connection settings anywhere under the Storage. There's no 3dotmenu or context menu available either.
Found the answer to my question in one of the ROMs thread. Can be closed.
Care to repeat it here?
sure but it didn't really solve the problem, just helped me understood what's the reason for that

will have to try on my other PC with Win7 to see if it works.
Another option - go to Recovery and connect your phone to PC. This way it appears in My Computer as HTC Storage. Not the most convenient method, but still better than nothing.
any one know of any fix for this yet? i'm on mac and cannot mount sd card other than going into recovery. pain in the ass, every time i plug it in to my dock htc sync link pops up, tried installing it it but it's ****e, still doesnt allow direct access to sd.
If its not installed it pops up as a link, if it is installed it pops up the app. pain if i only want charge.
Really annoys me when they remove common used features.
Someone at HTC must have sat and had a thought, yes they have 32gb non removable sd card but it's highly unlikely they ever want access to it, lets take the option away.
There's no 'fix' as HTC has changed the storage from USB MS for MTP - unless they change it back there's not a lot you can do
EDIT: This might help...

Thanks, may have to revert to ics then, this is a big flaw for me, do a lot of transferring files to and from sd, cant be ****ed with entering recovery everytime.
Out of curuosity, would it be the same on AOSP jelly bean roms?
Guess i could try BT transfers

Hello,
I cannot get my USB Host Mode to work on my Note II... I have tried various ROM's/Kernel combo's, and the apps you can get in the play store. (USB Host Controller). I've also tried lots of devices, and provided the external power when it was needed. When I got this phone I wanted the stock ROM of it, and didn't even try the USB Host mode. All the ROM I've tested have been stock based, that shouldn't be the issue.
I know the USB-OTG adapter works because I've tried it on other phones, with the same devices I can't get to work on my own phone.
My Rom is CleanROM Ace 4.9, which is latest. Kernel is SaberKernel_23, also latest.
Anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks
Maniac
Not much experience with it but I use 'stickmount' and can see USB storage with my dongle.
I'm with Telus and also using cleanrom 4.9 the below app worked for me

I just found this app yesterday, but, this is not the usb I'm looking for. This app allows you to mount the extsd as a USB device on pc. I want to use USB devices with my phone. Mount flash drives, mouse, xbox 360 controller, etc..

What kernel are you running? USB-OTG functionality must be enabled in the kernel. I'm running Adam.Kernel v2.5 (for N7105/I317) and when I connect my flash drive to phone (via USB-OTG cable) you should see two messages in the top notification area: "USB connector connected" then "USB mass storage connected". Then open your favorite file manager and you should see another storage device "UsbDriveA" (the other two of course are "sdcard0" (internal) and "extSdCard" (external). When you click on "UsbDriveA" you should see the files on your flash drive. Two things to check: does your kernel support USB-OTG? (I'm pretty sure when I was on the CleanROM v4.9 (N7105XXDMC3) kernel, it also worked. Second thing to check is the cable... I see you mentioned it works on other devices, but I had same problem. Bought another USB-OTG approved cable (less than 6 bucks) and it worked flawlessly on the Note2.
By the way, there is a bug in the 4.1.2 firmware when you disconnect the cable from phone (even using the drop down notification and selecting "USB mass storage.. Select to remove...." your phone won't deep-sleep again unless you reboot (leaves a partial wakelock called "USB Unmounter" (something like that). However, when ready to disconnect cable, do it this way "Menu--> System Settings --> Storage --> and scroll down to "USB OTG storage"... then select "Unmount USB OTG storage". This will safely unmount usb cable storage and allow phone to deep-sleep again without rebooting. Hope this helps.

dear paranoid android users and developers,
I've made a fresh (and clean) install of newest BETA 4 on my Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 2013 (Wi-Fi) and encountered a small problem... I cannot seem to get StickMount to work... none of my pendrives that worked on previous versions (the ones before SuperSU was switched to Superuser) seem to show up in any file explorers...
also, when I ran the USB Host Diagnostics, I got a result in the Root API section: N/A... therefore, I'm thinking something is not right on the Superuser side...
I would be oh so thankful if someone could help with coming up with a solution! :fingers-crossed:
P.S. I'm posting a screenshot of the USB Host Diagnostics as attachment. the same result shows up on Nexus 5.
try USB OTG Helper
I don't know if it will work but its what I used when I was on a different ROM, I'll check later and see if it still works.
hmm, will look into it and see if anything changes...

I just tested it. OTG works Perfectly on PA beta 4. If you are using an external HDD make sure its getting powered.

On which device did You manage to do it? And with help of 3rd party apps, or just with the system in its own?
Also... Stock kernel or custom one?
Cheers!
Htc one x. Custom kernel but the kernel doesn't do anything for otg. And only used USB OtG Helper. Just plug the OTG cable and the USB device in and then open otg helper then plug the otg cable into the phone and wait a few seconds and then mount.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
on GNexus, with PA Beta4, stock kernel: it works from the start, without 3-party apps.
the only thing it doesn't work is when I unmount (from "settings>storage": is there any other way to do it?) it keeps a permanent notification saying "Removed USB storage. Insert new media" that won't go away. Eventually it does, don't know how, why and when.
cheers
Nexus 5, PA Beta 4, stock kernel.
OTG works flawlessy, from the settings I can mount and unmount it.
I just received my Corsair Flash Voyager Pro & I can't seem to locate the files that I've put on it. The Tablet Doesn't Automatically open w/ file Manager & I also can't seem to fine google's file manager . The Drive is in exFAT if that matters.

Some custom kernels support NTFS and EXFAT. But stock doesn't give you much option
If you're rooted try the app stick mount from the play store, that should work
If you're not rooted, try Nexus Media Importer (also from the Play Store).
I was expecting more of a Plug & Play Like what was shown 2:35
Stock / unrooted 5.02 and I use ES File Manager to access drives over USB OTG. This only started working (AFAIK) with the Lollipop release.
It's limited in functionality, and I usually end up copying files locally before using them, but it suits my needs and works without rooting.
I used to use StickMount, but it requires root. And I'm lazy.
Hey guys, I've got my 5x running a custom Oreo ROM. Ever since the Oreo upgrade, I can't access music files with Poweramp on my USB C to 3.0 otg.
I used to use USB stickmount app and it worked fine on Nougat but doesn't work anymore. I can see the drive using a file explorer and it evenregsiters as storage under system on my 5x. Any ideas or suggestions? I don't wanna select one file at a time as it's a p.i.t.a...
Resolved by using Poweramp beta and SuperSU. One or the there (haven't verified)allows access to my mini USB key via rooot access.
