Hey everyone,
So a week ago, I switched from my HTC Vivid to the Note 4 permanently, I'm initially from Karachi, Pakistan and I bought this phone from there as a "Kit" as they say (only phone plus charger). The phone is in absolute brand new condition with no problem whatsoever, running flawlessly. I've came to Malaysia and its my 4th day here, I can't use LTE on my phone, I'm using DiGi sim. I went to the DiGi operators and they checked my phone and tried but there was no service in LTE mode. After trying everything they gave me back my phone saying you need to go to the Samsung Service Center, right now I can't do that because I have lots of other stuff to do as I'm here for studying in Malaysia.
Is my phone locked to Sprint? If so, then what can I do to unlock it, 3G works btw but LTE doesn't. What could be the solution?
Help is greatly appreciated!
Regards.

More than root ...There is something called CDMA Programming that need to be done for data to work mate. Is is surprising that i didn't find a guide for this in xda.
In this you will have to use msl code and fiddle with esf
Someone knowledgeable about cdma programming can through some light..

I am thinking of picking up a DInc 2 when I upgrade from my DInc to a Rezound. The DInc 2 would be used for a home phone and international travel (our family travel is primarily international).
My question is, can I just pick up a SIM in Europe or Southeast Asia and put it in and there I go? Or do I need to use Verizon's Worldphone service? As you all may know, international cell phone rates in Europe and Asia are cheaper than here, and in some cases there are no additional "international" calling rates.
Sorry if this is a repeat, but I searched the DInc 2 threads very briefly before asking.
Thanks in advance for all help!

Once you use the unlock code, do you ever need to re-enter the code after flashing another ROM or doing any type of reset? When I asked for my code, the tech told me I would need to reenter it after a factory reset. (I am sure they were assuming I would still be using the factory ROM.)
I'm thinkin about picking up the Dinc2 and using it until I buy the Rezound. It has GSM/CDMA bands, but Im curious to know if it could work on T-Mobile so I can let my little brother use it.
I had no problem unlocking my inc2 when I visited England a couple months ago. Just phone verizon up and if the rep won't unlock it just keep calling until you get one who will. Do not listen to what they say. 99% of the time the reps know next to nothing about unlocking and will try to sell you an international plan.

unlocking the phone Sim Card is permanent , you will not be asked for it again whatever you do
You can use any Sim Card and it will work
After factory reset : if you are using the original ( stock ) firmware , then you need Verizon activation ( Very big problem if there is no Verizon coverage) . if you are rooted you will not be asked for activation
the stock software has stock recovery which will erase All internal memory parts including Verizon Programing during Factory reset
after rooting , a Custom recovery like CMW is installed , Custom recovery does not erase the Part including Verizon Programming during Factory reset , therefore no activation will be required
if you Did a factory Reset By mistake while you are Abroad (there is No Verizon Service) using Stock Rom ( i.e Not Rooted ) there are 2 Solutions :
Solutions 1 is to Call Verizon and follow instructions ?? ( i don't know if it works ,but i guess it will )
Solutions 2 is to reprogram CDMA information manually until you get Back using Software for that ( I don't know if it is Permitted by Verizon ,Check first with them ) . this method is confirmed 100% to work by some Posts ( those software are powerful and a bit complicated and could harm your Phone if you don't know what you're Doing )
hope this helps

switching back and forth between radios is fast ( even you don't feel it ) . you don't have to turn the handheld off?
it will switch automatically when it detects a Sim Card to Global Mode . and Vice verse if you removed sim Card ( CDMA phone)
according to the setting you choose the phone will react , you can check my Post regarding that here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1372052

i think there is a limitation that you should be contracted with them more than 6 month , not sure ( limited knowledge about that )

No limitations. You have to agree to some waiver that says they aren't responsible for extra fees that you incur using a different Sim.
Also you have to be a good standing customer and have been with them for 6 months. I was told you also CAN'T unlock more than one phone on the same plan within 8 months (or some time frame like that)

However, the sim works fine with an S2! AT&T sim works fine with my S3 also! So i can't figure out what the problem is !!!
Thanks,

Simple mobile user here. Works fine for me. maybe restart phone? check the network setting, maybe it routed to different carrier.
Might be blacklisted? Try to do a complete wipe and reinstall the system.

Sounds like it was blacklisted.
I was wondering if blacklists apply to MVNOs. Like the case in point, will a phone blocked on T-Mobile work on Simple Mobile even though Simple uses Tmobile network.
As of 31 October 2012, the U.S. Cellular Providers are sharing IMEI/ESN data to ensure that phones blacklisted on one carrier CANNOT be activated on another carrier. T-Mobile and AT&T are also tied into the international GSM IMEI Blacklist Database to ensure that phones blacklisted overseas cannot be activated in the U.S. and vice-versa.

Sounds like the imei is blacklisted likely stolen phone. I always buy phones online and ask that they have the original box so I can avoid this.
The phone was bought new though! I have the box and everything and it did work on simple mobile for about month and a half! the phone is rooted and flashed multiple roms but no luck!

Go into settings and see if the imei still shows up? Sometimes the IMEI is lost while flashing roms. This would not allow the phone to get service. Was this after you flashed a rom?
I'm having the same problem! Except it stopped working around Friday which was December 14th. I've tried to troubleshoot this myself and the only thing I can come up with is that it's because I unlocked my phone. I got this phone brand new mid october and I've been using simple mobile with it since. Then last week I used that free unlock for Galaxy S3's and Note 2's via dialing the code in and going to the the network lock and switching it off. Last Tuesday, I tested it with an AT&T sim to confirm it was unlocked as I needed it for use in Japan and it worked fine. Then it suddenly stopped working last Friday.
Here are the things I've done:
1) Attempted to use a T-Mobile/AT&T SIM in my phone to confirm that my phone works and isn't "blacklisted" I've called and texted with those sims.
2) I put my simple mobile SIM into another T999 Galaxy S3 and it worked fine without setting up APN settings. I received my texts and voicemails as soon as the SIM was in. The only difference between my phone and that phone is that I unlocked mine and my friend left his locked It was the same model phone, the T999 T-Mobile version of the S3.
3) I've called up CS for Simple Mobile and they've went through all their "troubleshooting tools" and even called up their tech support with T-Mobile to confirm that my phone is getting coverage. The interesting thing that they kept telling me that is on their system and T-Mobile's systems, they see my phone as connected and idling which means I should be getting service.
4 and 5) I've factory reset my phone and bought a new sim card and did a sim swap and still no go.
And yes, if I type *#06#, I get my IMEI so I don't think my IMEI is "lost" unless there is another way to check. I've looked elsewhere for the solution and this is the only post where I found someone having the same exact problem as me.
The method I used for the unlock is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34661189&postcount=1
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Phone probably blacklisted. Go to check esn free website. On the dropdown box look for the blacklisted imei and enter yours to see if it is in their system. You can also try calling T-Mobile.

Hi, someone is selling me a really nice T999 in excellent condition, with the problem that the IMEI was blocked, and it won't work on any carrier in the U.S. I live on Dominican Republic, will it work on my country fine? 3G and everything? I know that the 3G band matches the one my operator uses, so no problem there.
Thanks in advance.

Simple answer is yes.
Thanks for your answers. I ended up buying one on ebay that was cheaper, with the same problem. Only issue is that the auction says bad esn, but i guess that he got that wrong, and means imei. Here it is: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200888137396?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Well, yeah, you really are taking one then. Because, IMEIs are for GSM phone and ESNs are for CDMA phones. That posting says T999 with a bad ESN... So, is it a T999 or a CDMA variant of the SIII???
Hope everything works out for you, bro.

Hi there.
Well, to tell you the truth, i sold the phone as soon as i got it because it wasn't compatible with my carrier's 3G network. I did unlock it, but unlocking was extremely easy, i just rooted the phone and downloaded an app from the Play Store, and the app did the rest of the work. Easy as pie. After that, the phone worked flawless in the small ampunt of time i spent with it (less than a day) and it was a brand new phone :highfive:. If you are wondering the name of the app, i don't know the exact name, but you can try searching "galaxy unlock" on the Play Store, and you will see a couple of apps. Good luck.

I think that its going to be same, and that its going to work, because the imei was blocked on the country the phone was bought, it should work properly outside that country.
If you have a carrier phone with the IMEI blocked you can unlock it and use it on another carrier. Or you cant? I know u used to could. Also If you call your carrier. for instance tmobile and talk to a superviser they may unlock it for you... They usually do because you're using the phone with their network anyways.. So they still lose money if you decide to go to another carrier.

If your IMEI is blacklisted then the phone has been reported lost or stolen. No US carrier will take a blacklisted phone. Tmobile and att share databases too.

Not always.. Carriers will block the IMEI even you dont pay your bill for so long.. A friend of mine gave me his Sidekick 4G and he stopped paying tmobile. After a while that phone stop working. When I called tmobile they said it was because of the IMEI has been blocked. I said that I have this phone for a long time and you need to turn it back on.. 48 hours later they did
As the title implies, I've tried my own research and came up with nothing on the matter. Maybe something can be done if the phone is rooted and using TWRP? Thanks for any help.

Nope and there won't be at least through legal means because Sprint won't attach Verizon's IMEI of the device to their SIM in order for it to accept and use Sprint network, unless if it's an apple product... (lol really). Funny how devices come unlocked or can be unlocked upon request due to law but loophole comes to play now SIM's can be locked to a devices IMEI rendering anything you try the SIM on useless other than it's original device. So much for having an unlocked device...
Just wondering -- have y'all tried any of the solutions mentioned in these threads:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/ls990-red-t3033809
http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-lg-g3/general/unlock-sprint-ls990-cdma-carrier-t2985523
(I know both of these are for putting a sprint phone on verizon, but maybe the NV/RUIM trick works in the other direction as well?)
Hey guys, dont post here very often but i read the threads often looking for root. My issue is that i have an AT&T note 4 with a straight talk sim in it (the AT&T one). When i got the phone it was on 4.4.4 and i put my sim in it and it worked. No unlocking issues or anything. Seemed odd to me but whatever... What i want to do is upgrade to 5.1.1 from 4.4.4, however i do not want to lose my unlock. Does anyone have any info on this? Can it be done? Thanks in advance for any and all information that can or will be provided.
Straight talk
Feel free to update your note, it is not unlocked. Straight talk use the same antennas and network as att and the phone will continue to work regardless of the Android version you are running.
Just purchased my wife a note 4 off clist that was on att running 5.1.1 All I did was put in the straight talk sim and set network settings and was good to go. Enjoy.
Thanks!
