MM, otg memory stick ? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why doesn't the stock HTC file manager find the USB memory stick when connected with otg cable ?
It worked fine with Lollipop, could copy, move and delete files easily.
Cheers

It works for me ...
Do you have the latest update ?
Mine is 7.60.677939

OK, done that and it now finds it. Had gone through those steps before but hadn't clicked "select" at bottom right of screen.
Thanks

Check if you don't have a faulty cable. Try with a different cable, or try your cable and see if it is detected on THAT phone.
Because, just like on the images of the previous posts, I've handled it the same way without any problem at all.

I have the same problem with Otg granting process. I tried it with two different usb flash that works perfectly before updating. It seems it is a bug in some of the build numbers.mine is 707

My stock and firmware is 707 too.
Did you update the HTC File Manager ? The one that come with the ROM won't work (I think, as I can't really remember).
Most of the 3rd party file manager/explorer unable to read OTG on Marshmallow.
Only the latest HTC File Manager is Marshmallow compatible.

Then .. I have no idea ... just tested my sandisk ultra dual usb ...
so no need for OTG cable .. it worked too.
and all my flash drives are FAT32

Mine is silicone power one 32g micro usb Otg flash (like yours) and the other 16g that needs Otg cable. In fact this is not only my problem some of the peoples reports that after mm updating. Thanks for your attention

I subscribe to this issue. After you upgrade to MM, the phone does not see OTG (two different cable, USB camera). Today replace the power board (thought it a problem), there is no result. Today bought a USB OTG Sandisk 16Gb also does not see. I put stock, Viper5, Viper6.

I just used an SNES-usb adapter I got from amazon 3years ago, connected to the microUSB-USBotg adapter. The amazing thing is, it works in the system itself, you can go in the menus, navigate trough icons and all !
If only I got the HDMI adapter
is your phone rooted/running custom rom ? or just pure stock unmodified ? Mine is stock (4.0.2) and I am not sure if the USB host function is working on mine
I'm running Android Revolution HD, which is based on the stock 4.0.3 kernel but is a 4.0.2 rom. I recently installed a script for the usb host function, but I though it was only for mounting usb-key. Do you have an usb otg adapter ? if you got anything, a mouse, a small keyboard, or an xbox pad (for pc) you can try.

Yes, i have the USB OTG adapter. Tried USB and mouse but it didn't work. I thought it was meant for rooted phone but i could be wrong. Can you link to me the script you installed?
thanks
I'll be damned. I was sure it was a script (which would require you'd get an unlocked bootloader and a recovery anyway), but it's only an app : StickMount. It's quite strange, I see the notification of the app when I plug in a usb key, but not when I connect a keyboard or gaming controller.
I guess it's still better for you if you don't want to unlock your bootloader (for the warranty or something) : you just have to wait for an exploit to get root & superuser on your phone.
Sorry that doesn't work unrooted... :/
Pretty much thought that I need to root the phone to use this feature.
Thanks for sharing though.

USB host for keyboard/mouse/gamepad is fully supported in the stock 4.0.2.
If you have 4.0.2 and USB host doesn't works, it means that the cable is not a relly USB OTG cable, but a simple USB F > MicroUSB M adapter

It is the official samsung one and it has been working for everyone with root installed.
Honeycomb and ICS have native support for USB gamepads. I actually use my Nostromo game pad and it works well. You don't need root or a special OTG cable. Just need a converter from USB>MicroUSB.

I would agree with you here, however, when I first got my Note 3 and connected to my MBP (same model as OP), it used to display the option, but ever since NB4 and beyond I haven't ever seen the option again.
The only thing I haven't tried, is launching Android File Transfer before plugging it in to see if that makes a difference, but I uninstalled that due to NE6 (and beyond)'s ability to show the internal and external sdcards as mount points.

Sent from my leanKernel 3.5 powered stock 4.4.2 (NF4) SM-N900T
after more research it apears more and more that the USB 3.0 is related to driver issues and not yet supported in OS X .... ill be setting up a bootcamp with windows 7 soon for testing but i'm almost certain its a issue with being supported under the os and not hardware...

Just download the HTC Sync Manager : http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
Install then uninstall the HTC Sync Manager (if you don't use it) and leave the driver. You'll get the newer version HTC driver 4.13.0.003

Tried this; still get same error
So I installed Win 10 TP on my other computer, plugged in the phone after using those drivers and it worked perfectly fine.
So that being said, what could be causing the issue on this build because i did a new install of win 10 on it today.

I had originally installed Windows 10 TP via a USB drive on a USB 3.0 port. At first that seemed to be what caused my issue along with various other random issues. Installing Build 9860 via a USB 2.0 port has since fixed my driver signing issues with HTC. However, the phone/computer connection is still finicky and sometimes requires a few reboots or re-installing the drivers to get it working. I chalk that up to the technical preview being alpha.
Mine works on Windows 10 Technical Preview. I had to plug the device in two separate times. One time when it was fully booted to install drivers and then I had to plug it in in fastboot mode to install drivers needed for ADB to work properly or it would not recognize the device.
can you take snapshot for that coz I didn't get it yet ... it's been a wile trying to do it .... PLZ need help ??
Has anyone been successful with getting it to run on Windows 10?

Can't find my device in fastboot mode

Hi, i want to unlock the bootloader of my old Redmi note 5, but there's a problem, when I go into fastboot mode, the Xiaomi's software can't find it, even using ADB the device is impossible to find. If I turn it on normally i can find it. Why it happens?
Hey u may give this a try as based on my understanding Xiomi devices will require u to install mi flashtool on PC as it has driver installation option. Remember some times you are required to disable driver signature verification.
I recently had trouble with fastboot as well. I eventually sorted it by installing the correct drivers, from here: http://bigota.d.miui.com/tools/xiaomi_usb_driver.rar
I don't remember having to disable driver signature enforcement (usually to do this you have to use an advanced boot option as shown in Option 2 here) but maybe it happened automatically.

Mi 10T 5G usb otg & usb debugging not functioning on my phone itself.

Hi. I am Carlos from the philippines. I am a Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G user, and I have some issues with my unit regarding the usb debugging and my external USB suddenly it is not functioning on my phone anymore, and, even the tethering on my phone cannot also be selected for it to work. But, I can still charge my phone using my pc or charging brick, and even use the usb port for my headset. (with headset adaptor for usb type-c)
There is no problem with my pc or even my external usb, cause I have tried them on my wife's phone and the external usb and my pc can detect her phone. What could be the problem? Can anybody help me with this? Tia
I am also facing the same problem. Xiaomi Mi 10T Pro user here. OTG and USB options stopped working all of a sudden. I have created a thread here regarding the same. Some users in xiaomi europe forum have also reported the same issue. Looks like this is a hardware issue triggered by some specific setting. So far no solution.
Actually, I ordered a cheap priced charging port for Mi 10T from Shopee. It is not a original Xiaomi product but an OEM I suppose. It has not arrived yet, but, as soon as I receive it, I will go to a technician and have my stock charging port replaced. Maybe around less than month from now I will get back here and post the result. Cause, this is the last resort in finding solution to this issue...
4 days ago I had the same problem as you, I found a way to solve this error.
First you go to Settings, select All parameters, select Android version, if it is android 11, then you push the volume of android 11 up and down 3 times until it shows number 11, then plug the phone into the computer to see if it shows usb for file transfer.
