Strange Square - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Galaxy Tab 3 7" with Android 5.0.2. Quite often on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, generally when in a web page, a red lined square appears. Nothing in the square, other than the underlying page, and if I leave it it shrinks the page. If I get it quick enough with the cursor and move the top line of the square upwards it turns blue and the page stays full size. My guess is that it is something to do with multiple screens, but I have not located anything to tell me how to switch it off or to use the function. Pls help, and please excuse my lack of appropriate terminology, so I hope you can understand the issue.

Bulletin Board format Change?

I noticed yesterday after a rom change that the BB appears differently on my device. Prior to this change, when viewing this BB in PIE, set to one column view, the browser adjusted the text box of posting to fit the full width of the screen. Now it seems to be trying to maintain the white border around edge. I also get variation in the width of the boxes. there is usually three to five mm of white space on either side now. It is frustrating because it requires much more scrolling to move through a thread.
My question is, did whomever maintains this site change something, or is it a setting I have missed, or is it inherent in the version of PIE I am using?
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
Ditto here, would like to know if there's a fix.

Direction of screen flicking & trackball

Hi
I noticed that the direction of trackball movement is opposite to that of the screen flicks when moving across the 7 home screens. One has to do exactly the opposite when using the trackball to that using finger flicks on the touch screen. I wasn't sure if this was intentional or not and therefore wanted to know if anyone is aware of how to reverse the trackball direction via a setting?
Thanks
No one?
Guys
Does no one have any thoughts on this? Surely someone must have thought that this doesnt feel right?
regards
Simply, there are two intentionally different mechanics at work:
When flicking, you are moving the whole world under your view/focus, while the view/focus stays still (flicking to the left slides everything off to the left, bringing the pane to the right into view)
When using the trackball, you are moving your focus point (highlighted icon) and when this moves beyond your view, your view follows. Moving the focus to the left of the pane causes the view to have to follow and bring the left pane into view. It's like looking at an object beyond your current field of view in real life, you must turn your head to bring it into view.
This probably doesn't belong in this forum though
biosehnsucht, many thanks for your response. I understand the need for it to work in this way. It was just that I was confused with the intent of such an action and wanted to know if we could change 'any setting' if at all, to reverse it.

screen calibration

I have found a little problem.
The touch screen work good with a keyboard, but it has a little error with precision while drawing with a program like magicmarker or any others applications. On the left size of the screen the point i touch is not centered like on the right size.
Example :
- on right size the points i draw are perfectly in the middle of my finger
- on left size the points i draw are about 2-3 millimeters and the right of the middle of my finger
How can i fix it ?
hi there,
The desire has a capacative display, which works by measuring the capacitance change when you touch the screen, by way of the magnetic field of your body, this way the screen does not need calibrating because of the way it works.
Hope this helps.
im sure someone will correct me if im wrong
I tend to agree with the original post. I wondered earlier here if there is a way to align the screen (such as with WinMo). Especially when browsing I easily click the wrong links, I have carefully checked where my finger tip touches the area, but the wrong link etc is actioned. There is a way to somehow correct it for typing, but think thast all.... ??

[Q] Screen shrink app?

I realize this will sound like sacrilege to many here, but I'm looking for an app that can be used to shrink the viewable portion of the screen.
Why?
There are certain times when I'm using the phone and don't need the full screen for the task at hand. Additionally, since the touchscreen extends so far to the edge of the device, there are times when I accidentally "press" the outer edges of the screen with the meaty portion of my thumb (i.e. holding the phone in my right hand, trying to tap something in the upper-left corner, my palm might hit the lower-right corner)
My further hope is that battery drain could be reduced while using this.
So does any app like this exist?
If not, would the creation of such an app be possible?
Is it possible to shrink what is being viewed to a smaller portion of the screen?
Is it possible to "turn off" touch functionality for certain areas (i.e. the outer edge) of the touchscreen, or is it all-or-none?

I know its possible to turn off the touch around the bezel, there is an app for it. Off top I cant remember what the name of it is, but I will check for you and get back.
EDIT: I believe this is the app I was thinking of. There may be another different one or two. I know there is one to do exactly what you are asking.. you set a screen area around the bezel to prevent accidental touches. Let me know if this app works for you.
Thanks for the heads up, WiredPirate. That thread also led me to find "Invisible Grip" and as you said, it blocks touches around the edges of the screen, and does work on my device. At some point I'll probably plunk down the $0.99 to get the Pro version, which allows setting the size of each border, etc.
I wonder if a resizing app already exists as well.

I dont know that a resizing app exists, I haven't seen one but that doesn't make it nonexistent. If I do stumble upon one in the future I will let you know. I know there is a resizable app for playing video, but that's much different than shrinking the screen.

[Q] Can Multiwindow (FlashBarService) tab "snap-to-center" be altered?

I'm not 100% sure if this is the right sub-forum for this question, but hopefully someone can help or at least point me in the right direction.
I'm making some minor tweaks to my Note 10.1 (2014), and as part of the process I swapped out the images for the "grab tab" to make it less conspicuous on the screen. The one other thing I would like to do but am unsure of where to start or how feasible it is would be to alter the "snap-to-center" position of the tab. The app calculates the center-point of the home screen but does not account for the area used by the notification bar, which results in the tab actually being slightly below center when it has been snapped to the center position, which isn't that noticeable in the landscape mode but it's (almost) right next to the home button in portrait mode. To put it plainly, this stimulates my OCD in a very negative manner...
So, does anyone know where I might find the script/code that controls the "snap-to-center" functionality so that I could try making some minor alterations? I browsed through almost all of the XML files in the decompiled app and didn't see anything obvious, but it seems like it should be in there somewhere, right?
I've attached a photo that kind of illustrates what I mean by the position being lower than center and its relative position to the home button. (Please excuse all the smudges on the screen!)
