Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone is having issues with getting the viper4android driver to install on marshmallow. I'm on the latest M9 dev build and I can't get viper4android to install the drivers. I have busybox installed and set selinux to permissive.
Any known issues here?

Yes sir, I've been trying to get this working all day today and yesterday. I've just started some discussion in @guitardedhero's excellent thread here, this Compatibility Test is probably our best shot at getting this working. I've also included my temporary solution in my post in that thread.
Cheers!

Only workaround is to go to system/etc find "htc_audio_effects.config and rename config to bak
You will lose controlling in boomsound so you better set it before u change the name
Go to v4a install reboot
Hobbbaaaa working

I would like to know if doing this will cause other Audio mods to stop working. In particularly Zeroinfinity's Acoustix Audio V30. He mentions clearly on his thread " Dolby is necessary for it to work properly"
I want to keep both the mods intact. As 1 improves quality other does both improve quality and boost volume.

Works perfectly just make sure you add it as a system app using lucky patcher etc or the affects wont stay on.
Works perfectly with mine. Just install it and it is good. Its onky good for the external speaker to increase bass. The headphone jack quality is already very good.

As the person above stated, it seems to work fine and settings stick, just by installing as a normal app.

Are you using it to use the effects settings and EQ, or because you want to improve the output quality? If it's the latter, don't bother.

Nope, the hissing is still there. I'm using Viper4Android and eXtremeBeats and those make a good sounding mobile sound great (if you get the settings right in Viper)!

I have it working on all music apps with a headset. Flawlessly.. But.....
Using the phone speaker, the sound drops off after 25-30 seconds. Any app. You name it
Pretty sure it's Viper. Anybody knows how can I revert the installation?
I flashed it on TWRP and now even uninstalling the driver the sound still drops.
I will reflash the Chupa chups ROM that I'm using to test if it's a problem with the phone

I think I know what is causing this. Together with the apk I flashed some soundfx lib files that were on the viper4android topic.
I couldn't revert this sound drop with dirty flashes of Chupa chups, which, probably doesn't revert android lib files.
I'm saying that because the phone was working good before the viper flashing. At least I could play a 3 minute video straight without a sound drop.
Can't point if this is truly the problem. I will do a normal flash to see if it reverts or not. Going to bed
Have you guys ever heard about these sound drops? The problem is that I can miss notifications and alarms with that. Damn it.

Theres some zip files in the offical viper4android thread, 3 infact, cant remember what post it was.
You need to flash the 3 files, then it should be working.
else try Shuttle Player, also a good player but not such a hassle.

HK mod => no large mp3 decoding
Hello !
I have made a mistake and I want to ask you if anyone has faced that also ...
I have stock android, but freshly updated via OTA to 4.4.4, sense 6.0, S-Off and full root access.
My problem is that I have flashed HK-V6-with-ADSP-4.4.3-Based-ROM, edited the "default.xml" from /system/customize/AAC/ to enable HK mod but that generates an error on larger mp3 files (more than 30-40seconds): there is no sound.
How can I fix it ? Is there an "undo" operation besides system restore, which is not possible since I haven`t made an backup ... stupid me!! ?
Thank you !

You need to flash the newest ADSP. You reverted when you flashed the mod and went back to 4.4.3. I would link you, but I'm sitting at a pub on my phone. Just search for it. It's easy to find, and is actually on a post on the HK thread.
I'm not positive it'll work, but I'd give it a shot if I were you. No reason to have the old adsp.img

Latest Mod v7 - slow motion sound on HD Tracks
Just updated to the latest v7 and the 24bit/96khz Flac tracks I have are playing in slooooowww motion using Smart Player - The Division Bell has never sounded so.....weird!

Just leave it in the zip, remove everything else but the android-info.txt, and fastboot flash it like any other firmware zip.
Also, for the people having FLAC issues, I believe you need libmedia.so and libstagefright.so from HK. At least that's what got it working for me.

Use the mod in that link it includes viper4android with some cool tweaks best sound mod I've used so far ...
I have been running the Viper4android Official app and it works great. This is not my work and are the work of Guitardedhero and not myself. I"am just posting this because there is not an original Viper4android thread running in the pixel xl forum.
There is some weta version but that is a whole different animal and I"am sure there are others like myself that really like the Official version of the Viper4android app.
Any way there are two versions the first uses the ViPER4Android+2.4.0.1+by+guitardedhero+20170101.zip which is 2.4.0.1 which is the one that I prefer myself.
The second is ViPER4Android_2.5.0.5_guitardedhero.zip which is 2.5.0.5 which yes it is a newer version but as I posted I myself prefer the previous version as I like that app a lot more.
I believe both use the same drivers so I imagine they both should be very comparable in quality of sound I just prefer the set up of the previous app.
They both are pretty easy to set up just flash the zip in Twrp recovery then boot system and you need to use an app like Root browser to go in to vendor then etc then rename the audio_effects.conf file to audio_effects.conf.bak you do this on both versions.
Then open the Viper4android app that was installed by flashing the zip in recovery and you should be prompted to install the drivers so install them then if not prompted to reboot reboot manually then go back in to the app to make sure the drivers stuck and survived the reboot as changing that file renaming it should allow the drivers to stick and survive rebooting or powering off and back on.
Once again as I listed this is not my work I"am only making it easy for pixel xl users to find and run the Official Viper4android as its an awesome mod and this was all made to work on Nougat by guitardedhero which all the credit and thanks goes to him.
Here is a download link to flash in recovery for the 2.4.0.1 version below
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4OZ02mkOdQlWmpRRmdvVkJuR0U/view?usp=sharing
And here is a download link to flash in recovery for the newer 2.5.0.5 version
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4OZ02mkOdQlaGZhdHh2VEtwNzA/view?usp=sharing
Any questions just ask but its pretty much a simple process to do and an awesome sound mod.
Enjoy as I have been.

I actually had tried the latest one first then tried the previous and the previous used the drivers from the latest, so yeah I think the drivers are pretty common and shared amongst most Viper4android mods.
Hope you like it as I sure do. I just prefer the first version I listed over the latest one.
I didn't flash any audio mods I just tried the first zip & drivers installed automatically by flashing zip in TWRP, was surprised about that.
I do like it thanks for sharing.

So when you opened the Viper4android app it didnt opt for you to install the drivers ?
If so that is odd since not using any other audio mod. Glad you like it. May I ask which did you opt for the first version or the newer one ? I like the first one myself it seems a lot easier to set up the way you want at least to me it does.

That's right opened app drivers were enabled, I was like what!? I've tried before on previous firmware no go, not sure if latest March security update made that happen or kernel which I doubt but just by flashing ViPER4Android+2.4.0.1 worked!
I was making sure I was on pixel xl device ? ? that was Too! Easy.
The zips made by Guitardedhero install the drivers when you flash them, and there is no further need to install the drivers from the app itself. Also, installing the drivers from the app FAILS on the Pixel, which is why you must flash a v4a zip that flashes the drivers too.

That is odd because his instructions on line list that the app will install the drivers. I remember the app installed them for me when I added after the feb security update was added but after I addded the march update and flashed the zip the app did not install it either unless the drivers survived the march update being added, so honestly I cannot really say either way, but as I listed his instructions on line do list the app will install the drivers.

What I posted works just fine. If your purpose was to contradict my post then why did you not post one of your own before I did. Trying to contradict my thread is just uncalled for, and posting another link on my thread is like someone posting a rom thread link on another persons rom thread and not a very respectable thing to do.
And for the record I have been flashing the official Viper4android mod on Htc phones for years and the app always installed the drivers as my pixel xl 128 did when I first used this mod.
Also my Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 both on Nougat installed the drivers through the app for this mod also.

Actually I have been running the official Viper4android for years on quite a few Htc phones with great success. I just finally started it on my pixel xl 128 about a month and a half ago I was just waiting for someone on pixel xl forum to list it was working for them. I even had a thread up asking if anyone knew how to get the official version to work on pixel xl and no one had any clue about it either way mentioning that weta thing but I was only after the official Viper4android because having ran it for years nothing else will do, and I was under the assumption that it would not work on pixel xl but trying it I figured out it works fine on ours.
I was just surprised there was not a larger following on here for the Official Viper4android, as the Htc devs all go all out for it as on the Htc 10 forum. I"am just glad to get it working as it sucked being without it lol.
Flashed but no app
I just flashed 2.5 in recovery but I did not see the app when my pixel xl rebooted. Do I have to manually download the application from the play store?
*Edit* Fixed it by flashing the newer version of ViperFX_2.5.0.5_by_guitardedhero_20170213

Lets first ask if your bootloader is unlocked and you already have TWRP flashed, if so read on. If not start with those 2 before you move to ARISE.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/r-s-e-sound-systems-auditory-research-t3379709
does it even work on our device or we get bootloop by installing any sound mods?
The only mods I use are V4A(2.5) and Atmos Dolby. Ice sound doesn't work last I tried. The other mods don't seem configurable so I didn't bother trying. AM3 I know for certain doesn't work on our device.
I use the latest and greatest of arise sound mod on stock with selinux set to permissive for both V4A and Atmos.
