Don't start with CM. Buggy crap. Why not just have it stock? CM is for the geek who can't bear to have anything the way it should be...

CandySix is superb for my usage and it's really smooth

Cm 13 is awesome! No bugs at all running really smooth. Why not just nandroid and flash it to see yourself how good it is ? Then if there is something you don't like about it just restore back up.

It's a legit question...
1. What is better compared to stock? (this should be clear)
2. What are the downsides compared to stock? (this is not clear at all)
3. Is CM13 usable as a daily driver, generally and compared to stock?

[Q] Roms for the GPad G 8.3 GPE (510)

Is anybody working on a custom ROM for the 510 yet? Kind of not necessary given there's no bloat and xposed works well. That being said, part of the reason I wanted to root my tablet is to play with different Roms/kernels.
I will say that mine is lightening fast, was easy to root using Linux, and has NO problems with the screen.
Any Update?

Why are you wanting a custom ROM? I ask because these days you can do many of the same things that were afforded by custom ROMs on the stock ROM using Xposed Framework modules, in particular GravityBox. There are very few options that I've seen in CM, AOKP, etc., that you can't do with those ROMs installed, and you get the benefits of the stock ROM, particularly with GPE.
Anyone who has used both a GPE and a rooted V500 running any AOSP ROM: is there any difference is responsiveness and speed at opening web pages?

Yeah, that's been annoying. Think I have it fixed on latest kernel. At least my test run is working. It used to be forever waiting. Will upload sleekai5.1 soon. I'll check to see if XDA has their uploads fixed yet. Don't really like using github for that.
Sleekmason,
Really love the kernal mods. waiting for your next release with great anticipation.

So you are confirming that the V510 is more responsive and opens web pages faster than the V500?

More responsive? Yeah, probably. Don't know about Roms. I scored 27474 on antutu for whatever that's worth. That's not with init.d set to lower CPU. Another user posted similar with madhi and the dyn kernel.
Web pages? You tell me.

Because it sounds like fun. I later began tweaking the kernel instead, and adding other things like xposed. This thread is old. I wrote this when I first got the device and was looking for something different to work on. Because I wanted a clean device from which to work.
Other GPE devices can run custom Roms like their non gpe counterparts. This is the only device I'm aware of that actually has issues just loading any ROM you like. It's a shame.

Now I can tell you. The V510 definately opens apps and web pages faster than a V500 (running CM11). Thanks for convincing me to buy one. Selling my V500.

The issue is no one made a device tree yet for the v510. I have part of the device tree going thanks to @Drgravy and will be finishing it up when I can find the time.
Maybe @sleekmason can help with kernel

Best Stock Lollipop ROM

So my Dad decided he doesn't like his G3 - I know, he's crazy. So we have decided to swap phones. I had a Nexus 5 which I loved. I'm looking to get the G3 as close to stock lollipop as I possibly can as my Fun Prevention Officer (wife) has the Gold G3 and I'm less than impressed with the standard ROM.
I've had a look through the threads here searching about for a stock ROM and it seems there are plenty available but I wanted to get some opinions on what you guys think is the most stable.
I'm well up on ADB, rooting etc so I don't need help with the method, just your opinions on the 'best' , most stable closest to stock Lollipop ROM.
Cheers dudes and dudesses.

Hello, I'm new on the formus but I have tried several stock rom versions for my variant (D855). I think that Cloudy G 2.1 is one of the best lollipop stock rom version you can try. It is updated to the latest (20F) version, it's debloated and bumped and it is pretty stable (the only bug I know is the bluetooth issues present in all stock versions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/rom-cloudyg3-1-0-t2917467
Finally keep in mind that we have a Official CM 12 build in the Android Original development section that works flawless in case you like (much more like AOSP).

If you want stock close to LG: Cloudy: stable
If you want stock close to "naked" android: CM12: I would not use it as a daily driver yet, but i'll sure do in a more stable state.
Thanks raptor. I guess stability would come above stock Android in my priorities list. I'll give Cloudy a whirl...

That's for sure, CM is fantastic but they need a bit of time to make it good. Cloudy is a good transition phase. Guess LG's rom is pretty good.
There are other Roms in the dev section, but I haven't really looked at them.

The bug causes audio glitches and sometimes is necessary to unlink an link the device to avoid issues like battery drain. You can seek something like "Bluetooth|car audio issues" in general or q&a forums for more information.
Ps: I use cm 12 as daily driver.
What about for me that I use wireless headphones, will that affect me?

I recommend you stick with stock roms (Cloudy or ChupaChups), as the AOSP roms like CyanogenMod have dreadful camera software and quality. It's like you're back from LG G3 to a Nexus 4 camera, it's s**t! Sound volumes are also lower on AOSP, has something to do with drivers i think... But for the rest, cyanogenmod is stable, quick, light on the battery, and real pleasing to the eyes as it's one of the best looking roms on the market with themes support and all... But if you want to make the best out of your G3, use Cloudy G3 2.1. It's as fast and light on resources as cyanogenmod 12, as good looking if you flash the Lollipop theme (link on the first page of Cloudy thread), but you get to keep the amazing camera quality and sound volumes of the stock rom. After 2 months of flashing and testing roms on my G3, i can say, Cloudy has the winner here, hands down!

So what's the latest on Cyanogenmod? Is it stable yet? I used it for a while a few months ago but would have random locks and have to do a battery pull.
I have Cloudy 2.2 at the moment but honestly, I'm not a fan. I really want CM12 but only if it's stable.
What's the verdict?
can't go past full stock ( regular updates with http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/stock-t2961073 ), and G3 TweaksBox. works like a charm even though TweaksBox and the Xposed framework are both in alpha
Does someone compare the last versions of Cloudy and Chupa Chups ?

Whats the Best Lollipop Roms for the S3 ?

I got a few questions:
1) Can you provide a link to a Lollipop rom for the S3 that has no issues? If not, can you suggest one with the least issues?
2) Can you provide a good Lollipop rom for the S3 thats not based on CM?

They all pretty much have the same issues, they're built off of the same base. And you're not gonna find a rom that's not built on CM. Maybe slim lp is the closest you're gonna come but CM is the base right now for everything. I'm running the nightlies and they're really stable. Definitely a daily driver. Some signal drops but that's pretty much it.

Works fine.
There are no best roms, what's best for you maybe isn't best for others.
That is why we don't allow these threads, since there's always members saying the rom they are using is best for them and becomes a redundant thread.
On that note, thread closed and moved.

Opinions Rom/Kernals sofar.

Hi lads, Im getting my OP3 soon. Im wondering how your experience is with which rom/kernal.l so i can make my decision better. Thx!
Ask a dozen users and you'll get a dozen different answers, IMHO try stock for a week or so then see how you feel.
To me H2OS at the moment.

this is highly subjective question. it all depends on your personal preference.
1) best campera performance : stock
2) some extra features with decent camera: cm13 and other unofficial builds like of sultan.
3) lot of extra features: rr or dirty unicorn
4) nexus like stock: paranoid android, i personally love the floating mode on that rom.

I like features, but battery is the most important. Ill stay stock and see how it runs. Which kernal do your guys suggest for stock? Boefla or Elementalx?
Best rom doesn't exist, you better edit your thread and write, "opinions about roms" if you're lazy enough to read the ROM's threads to collect them

Im not lazy.. Features are almost all the same. In just gathering user experiences so i know how much a rom is developed and how it runs. Since that isnt stated in those OP's. But i agree my thread title isnt correct, thank your for mentioning that.

True that. However, this thing is a beauty. Hope it lasts a while.
Camera sources are closed as they are for almost all devices
All development around camera it is focused on porting it to cm13 - 14
Most camera mods for other devices are mostly placebo, I haven't seen any important improvements regarding the quality on a device so far, what stock brings it's legit

*Kernel, not kernal (sounds like drunkass)
try stock OxygenOS for at least a week, then try Snapshot Build of CyanogenMod 13 with ElementalX Kernel and OxygenOS Camera Port and see if it works well for you ...

Do you know where can i find info about what companies release their camera frameworks, im aware that custom roms cant really do anything with the two camera phones (v10/20). Does the pixel have the released frameworks? Also ye the camera quality drop is pretty ****ing huge., if it was like 20% drop ill be ok with it.

I dont wanna sound like a picky brat but ye, the diference is vast. Also i tend to install the 7.1+ roms
I am using crDroid 3.6 currently. I was always reluctant to jump unto custom roms due to the poor camera quality. I loved the swiftness of the custom rom but would always fall back to stock based roms due to the camera. That was until I discovered Bacon Camera. As far as I can tell, it has the same quality as the stock camera. I don't know how they managed to do it but the results are no different than stock to my eyes. I am so glad I found this. No more going back to laggy stock roms.

Try Bacon Camera. Best camera on G3 custom roms that I have seen so far. 2nd best is the ported G2 camera but its interface is all messed up.
