Hey guys, over the holidays I picked up a lumia 635 and an 830, but I don't know the carriers of either and I need to sim unlock them to work with Telus. Both are labeled 000-CA in extra+info.
Is there a way to find out the carriers? Thanks
Is there anything buried in the registry or current rom on phone info somewhere?

They should be carrier-unlocked phones 000-CA is for Canada
Registry values for carrier-unlocked phones https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn772248(v=vs.85).aspx
Yes I know that but they are both carrier sim locked. Probably set to 000-ca for unbranded updates.
Anybody have any idea how to determine the carrier?
000-CA is Canada carrier-unlocked phones.
Your phones are perhaps blacklisted.

Use Windows Device Recovery Tool to restore the original firmwares of the phones and they will have the real values of the carriers.
I'll try that, thanks

after windows device recovery reflash still says 000-ca....
On WP8 you can try ##7820#, it could provide info on SIM lock. On WP10 doesn't work.
Only shows sim lock
If you install Windows Insider, in the About info, the value MOID is still 000-CA?
You have Product ID for your lumia 635 and 830 ?

hi
been a long time user of the xda forums and love the site thanks to all u who keep it up and running :good:
so i got me the lumia 900 a couple of weeks ago and started waitimg for the upcoming 7.8 update but i`m not the most patiend guy around so
when finally the 7.8 leak came out i figured why the hell not try to get it to my phone
never flashed a windows phone before so had to do some reading to figure out how to do it
and it seems quite hard to find any deasent information anywhere or everything i splattered around on different sites
so i thought i`d make a little guide here to all of you because it was rather easy after you got all you need.
so here we go:
1.download navifirm+
http://www.softpedia.com/get/Mobile-Phone-Tools/Nokia/NaviFirm-Plus.shtml
2.download nokia care suite 5.0
http://www.nokiabreak.com/download-nokia-care-suite.html
3. install navifirm+
4. download the correct package your lumia rm-808 or rm 823
the latest firmware is the one that is the last the list... (your RM is written on the box your phone came with)
im from finland so mine is RM-823 Country Variant WHITE
5.install nokia care suite
after installation also install the drivers that are in the nokia installation folder
6. unhide all your folders
7. go to c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\ CREATE A FOLDER NAMED Products
8. cut the package you donloaded via navifirm and paste it in c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\Products
and rename it to your RM
In my case it looked like this when finished c:\\programdata\nokiapackages\Products\RM-823
9. now run nokia care suite AS ADMINISTRATOR and choose Product support tool for for store
10. connect your phone
11. chose programming and refurbish
12. if you`ve done everything right it should give you the code for the old version and the new version
13. press start and just wait til it`s done flashing should take about 5-10 minutes til it`s done
this worked just fine for me, no problems so far and everythings running great in 7.8
i
Windows phone 7.8 Argentina Personal
I tried it yesterday and it works perfectly.
In case, here a link with a slightly more detailed tutorial::fingers-crossed:

Not yet, you have to wait for RM-808 from AT&T
For Lumia 900 AT&T owner..the reason why u can't just used the variant that we all can used is bcoz ur Lumia is different from any of us..remember that AT&T Lumia have an LTE connection which mean different driver, software, etc. So you guys have to wait whether AT&T itself or Nokia to make ur variants, as i can see, theres no other way
Gotcha, thanks. Well here's hoping that the AT&T version of 7.8 is released soon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ee_tKLYPnI this is a detailed english version on how to do it

i have a movistar 7.5 lumia 900, and i want to update to 7.8, but: there is no update for my product code and my phone is already sim unlocked but i received it that way, so i don't have the unlock code, is there a way to update without sim locking it, or is there any sector or part that i can backup to restore the sim unlock, or is there a product code or flashing way as well that will not lock it, cause i us another carrier and even if, the update for my product code comes, i'm afraid it will lock after updating it?
any help, guide or advice
thank you very much indeed

hye there, 1. u dont have to care much about the product code, theres no big different between variant, only carrier logo, app..basically all variant just the same, my phone is Singapore set, a small country, yet i am flashing Finland variant and everything works just fine as of now.
2. As for sim lock/unlocked, as far as i know, only AT&T Lumia is sim lock and can be unlcoked already by calling AT&T if not mistaken, and no, i dont think u will be sim lock after updating, an unlocked set will stay as unlocked just my 2 cent.
Note: i've already flash 3 different variant on my Lumia 900, Sweden, India and lastly Finland, no sim lock or whatsoever, all 3 variant, my sim card just working fine, can sms, call, online and all. The diffrent is logo when u startup your phone, and language on first install (Ex: if u choose sweden variant, on first start there will be sweden language, but u can change it on next screen. be careful not to bricked your Lumia while flashing xD

i dont think you can flash anything to AT&T Lumia yet, the bootloader prevent you to do that.
Hello Guys, Do you know anything about this?:
I tried to flash the fimware rm-808 MEXICO LTE COUNTRY VARIANT (12310), but i cant, ALWAYS SHOW ERROR o said OSBL reported an error, I only can flash THE SAME FIRMWARE (AT&T BLACK)
Tnx!!

are you trying to flash WP 7.8 on that AT&T phone? if yes, the answer is you can't do that. Variant for RM-808 is not out yet. If you are trying to flash an older update, the answer might be you have an locked bootloader.
edit: obsl = operating system bootloader, so you may likely had an locked bootloader.

If you have an unlocked att lumia 900 does that mean your bootloader is also unlocked or is it independent? I have the telcel rom downloaded and ready to flash just wanted to ask as i need my tethering and mms!

If you mean unlocked, as you entered in a 7 or 8 digit (I forget which) number, then no. Your bootloader is still locked, and that'll do nothing. What I'm saying is, you're trying to put a square peg in a round hole.
hello I'm trying to flash the rm-808 telcel varian on cyan rm-808 att nokia lumia, because the telcel variant no have operator customization, making the Internet sharing works without having an account at att-mywirless, and this variant of telcel is also LTE
Theoretically the devices are the same, but I could not successfully flash the att lumia with it, but people with the rogers lumia can flash the telcel variant without problem and enjoy a more original rom.
maybe in this thread between all could try to find a way to flash the telcel rom it is also rm-808
what I am doing is to download the telcel firmware from navifirm, once downloaded, rename the 3 files containing the product code with the code variant of my cyan att lumia
1. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.dcp rename it with RM808_059M7R4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.dcp
2. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.vpl rename it with RM808_059M7R4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.vpl
3. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002_signature.bin rename it with RM808_059M7R4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002_signature.bin
then I go to the folder C:\ProgramData\Noki\Packages\Products and created a folder called RM-808 and copy all the files to it
next I run the program product support tool for store and connect my att nokia lumia 900 cyan, in the Connection column select "no connections" next in the menu go to open product and select RM-808
nex in the programming tab click on recovery update list, select the rom and start the flash
and i have the next error: the "C:\ProgramData\Nokia\Packages\Products\RM-808\RM808_059M7R4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.vpl has invalid signature."
but if not rename the files and leave them as they are 059Q7C4 ...
stop giving the signature error, but I get the following error: Recovery failes. ERROR: Reported OSBL an error! Code: 0x300FF
ok in the other side if you open the 3 files with text editor
1. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.dcp
2. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.vpl
3. RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002_signature.bin
you get it in like xml format with the list of files to flash, the names, etc i think its needed to rename it too, and in the _signature.bin file have the signature for the 2 others files the RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.dcp and the RM808_059Q7C4_2175.2302.8779.12310_002.vpl
so maybe we can try to found a form to flash the telcel variant, maybe changing something in the dcp, vpl and signature files
Any idea is welcome...
thank you very much in advance

Change the files name, only the product code part, not firmware version, then instead of recover, do the refurbish with the new firmware. I did that with my Rogers with the ATT 7.8 firmware, aand it works.

yes,

I have a Canadian Bell S3 i747m which broke and I got some random guy to fix it for me. He frustratingly ended up installing a ROGERS circuit board(or so he says) without bothering to check the fact my phone was loaded with Bell bloatware or just asking me my carrier.
I now need to unlock the SIM in order to use it properly and I just want to be sure I have the correct information and I don't end up paying for an unlock code that will not work since I didn't provide the proper carrier.
My SIM card (not sure if that matters): BELL
My board/IMEI: ROGERS (Apparently)
I wanted to determine which carrier I was tied to but I see 0 bloatware in my phone which makes me think the guy is wrong/lying and it's not actually a Rogers board. Is there another way to determine which carrier my phone is tied to?

The carrier doesn't matter. Once unlocked, it's unlocked for every carrier (unless it's unlocked by code).
You could go check the APN to see which carrier it's from.

Oh really? I was looking at the gsmliberty site for unlocking and it asks for a carrier. I can't post the link since I'm a new account but here it is split:
gsmliberty(dot)net/shop/samsung-galaxy-s3-unlock-codes-p-3528.html
I then went into their Terms of Service and it specifies that if I provide an incorrect carrier and the unlock code doesn't work then I won't get a refund. Does this mean this site is BS and I should avoid it and find another?
EDIT: Oh I see you added info about checking the APN. Don't know what that is but I'll Google it. Assuming I find it should I still avoid gsmliberty or should I give them a shot?

I just ended up editing my last post a minute before you posted this. I did determine the carrier and it is in fact Rogers. I was planning on just getting an unlock code through a website. You mentioned that means it will only be unlocked for them which I'm fine with but I'm just concerned about the fact I have a Bell SIM. Will that cause any problems with the unlock process or future dealings with BELL?
Actually I have a better question. Can I just put Bell's firmware on my phone instead of Rogers using Odin and then get an unlock for Bell and theoretically I'll be back to where I was?
What bootloader is on the phone? If you have the 4.3 bootloader, you'll have to buy an unlock code. If you have the 4.1.1 bootloader and you are running a stock ROM (doesn't matter about the carrier), you can use the free method to unlock it. If you have the 4.1.2 bootloader, downgrade to the Rogers 4.1.1 ROM and unlock it using the free method.

I'm running 4.3 so I know I need an unlock code unfortunately. I have a Bell SIM card but have Rogers firmware. The site I was looking to buy an unlock code from asks for my carrier so I presume I need to use Rogers. Will that be fine or am I able to just throw Bell firmware on my phone and buy an unlock code specifying Bell as my carrier?
I am not sure of you can load the stock Bell firmware and change the phone so it is locked to Bell. If this were the case, owners could switch carriers by flashing different firmware.

Unlocking is permanent and unlocks to every carrier. Knowing which one you're locked to only matters to get a unlock code, after that, it's free for all.
