GX8 screen replacement

Hi.
Unfortunately i dropped my phone and now i'm forced to replace my broken screen with the new one. The question is: can I use the one from G8 model? Cause i couldn't find any specifically for GX8. Those models are virtually identical, so are the screens. Am I right?

G8 and GX8 is exactly the same phone, Huawei just re-branded because they didn't want to be confused with LG G line.

G5 plus development

This phone looks very promising to me. Looks like I'lI be getting it very soon. I hope this device will get a decent support in terms of development. I still has my g3 osprey which has extreme support. All hail to mainly @Alberto97 and @squid2. And also other devs obviously for the support.
I hope some of devs will get it. Alberto and squid just out of curiosity i want to ask you guys are you getting this device?
I hope this device will be getting some love from our talented devs out here.

I do plan on getting this device and supporting it, along with the basic (non-plus) G5. I don't know if Alberto will be getting the G5, but he already has the Z Play which shares the same processor, so we'll probably be doing a common tree for the basic G5, G Plus, and Z Play.

Off Topic: Guys bought the phone on the release day, and it's amazing !! Do not get heat, The battery is very good, The charger is really fast, the performance is amazing too. In general I recomend it, and I think that lots of Rom will came because it is selling well, the shop assistant said that, it was the most sold phone in the week. As it is a Motorola, all basic steps to dead with it is known.

Nether, in Brazil the only official version is the 2bg. But it don't get lag any time, all the time multitasking is working very well, all apps are running in second plan, but it don't use lot of Ram. I'm surprised swith that. The Oficial SWAP memory is 511mb, with 100% of swipeness

I also ordered the 4GB variant. Will be exchanging it for the Mi 4i . I am expecting it on Monday. Glad to hear squid2 will be supporting the development !

I'll import it from the US. I did the same with otus (2015 Moto E 3G) - it's not sold in Canada, but I liked the device, so I imported it.

Hey guys, i know the lava red edition is only available in china soon.
Do you think there is any chance we can get this edition in europe?

How you can see your build number: go to settings - scroll down to about phone - the build number should be written there. But i think it doesnt matter. You can in install every custom rom also on the red model because you have the same hardware

Oneplus 5t lava red received !
The package is exactly the same as the normale 5t. Even the quick guide is the global one with many different languages.
I just downloaded the global Rom and it works

Another question. If im able to order the red model, do you think warranty is the same although i live in germany where you only get the black models? Do you see any difference on your warranty paper inside your oneplus package?

Will you use a VPN for your shipment address too? I don't think that will work. Still in Europe you will have 2 years warranty if it has CE (i doubt china versions has it)

Two years ago, I did buy a Mate 8 in China. But Huawei Switzerland told me, they can not offer waranty for this device, because I did buy it in China and not in Switzerland. Therefore it would be interessting to know how Oneplus is handling waranty with devices which are bought outside of your home country.

I had to contact oneplus live support. They told me what i expected.. No warranty on red 5t in other countries than china.

When i order oneplus devices from amazon or somewhere else, do i have 2 years warranty although i didnt order it from the official oneplus site?

i just got my 5T lava red yesterday, i bought it from reseller in my country. now it's already rooted and customized. every custom rom is working fine, i think the only difference is just the color and factory rom u got. i personally think this color is totally gorgeous. maybe the best smartphone color i've ever seen!!! well, i just hope the next oneplus lava red would have grey/titanium accent button

I got my lava red op5t today and I'm in the u.s using it on TMobile and everything is working smooth, I don't even wanna use my note 8 no more lol

need help choosing please

I currently have the mate 20 pro and it has the green screen issue. So... Sadly I'm sending it back, I was going to swap it for another though amazon advised me not to. They also refunded the accessories I purchased which supprised me. I now don't know whether to try to import a mate 20 X or settle for the 6t. I would be grateful if anyone with the 20x could help me decide and answer a few questions?
I haven't seen any threads about it. But has anyone had any issues with the screen?
I've read some people have had problems with the Chinese version, when looking at adverts how do I make sure the phone I'm buying is the international version? Most don't say they just give the model number.
Is there an 8gb/256 version of the international model? Does enyone have an ebay link for where I could get it sent to the UK?
Does anyone have any reasons why I shouldn't consider getting this phone?

I don't have the phone (at least yet) but i'm following closely all threads because i'm very interested too and i never see anyone complaining about the gluegate, even a reviewer frankytech thinks its only targeting pro series because of the curved screen.
If you want to buy international version you need to check if the model is named EVR-L29, china model is AL00. There's no international model atm in 256/8GB variant. About sellers to the international, there's splendor, wonda, funkyhuawei, expansys and ebay. Probably more but i forgot.

Would you recommend the Chinese model?
Is it easy to add the play store? Are there any issues with Google services? e.g. Google pay? As I use that a lot.
I bought an xaomi tablet and that took a lot of effort to get Google app store and services working properly.
Also I was wondering does face unlock work OK on this phone? I know it doesn't have the 3d scanner.

I originally purchased from amazon UK they said they were not offering replacements of the mate 20 pro now and a refund was my only option.

I came from a OnePlus 6. Definitely get the 20 X if you like large screen phones. The X uses a Samsung AMOLED panel and is free of defects. I would buy the Global version if root isn't important to you. If it is then buy the Chinese version. I bought the Global version and have no issues with it. The 6gb/128 Global version is plenty fast. You won't see any difference between the 6gb and 8gb versions as far as speed or apps in memory goes, it's all pretty much a gimmick unless you're buying the 256gb/8gb version just for the storage size.

The storage was the main reason I ended up going for the Chinese version.
I'm worried about Google pay not working on Chinese phones but I'm hoping the rest will end up working OK.
Hopefully someone will work out how to rebrand it so I can have the best of both worlds.

Please let me know how it works out, the 20X is my next phone just trying to decide which one I want. The China version is like $200 cheaper than the International one or the same price for the 8 gig versus the 6gig international version.

I have the China 8/256 version. And although I was worried about getting it once I changed the language, keyboard, got Google play to work it's a great phone.. my wife is laughing at me saying it's too big but personally I love it. It's fast and smooth and the screen is amazing.

I've not tried Google pay yet. I was able to add my credit card but not my bank card strangely. I will try Google pay tomorrow and let you know.

Yeap, that's the one I was going to buy but I was certain only blue is available for EVR-L29. All the other sellers online (ebay, amazon, wondamobil, etc...) only do EVR-L29 in blue. He's the only one doing silver. Interesting.

Got it in silver bought it from mobyshop Singapore they have international shipping methods.

Ye you often see the blue one or china version in silver, there are some reviews from South Asian regions youtubers where you can sometimes see a view of it.

Exactly my thoughts

It depends on the region it's sold in. I know in Malaysia it's sold in both blue and silver, while in Hong Kong it's in blue only.
Silver does exist, it's just more rare.

I'm referring to EVR-L29, the global model.
Not EVR-AL00 the mainland China model. EVR-AL00 comes in more configurations. Silver, blue, 128G, 256G.

Rebranding a Chinese Mate 20 series phone isn't possible. They will probably add play store, but that's the extent of what they can do.

who cares about the color? I assume you will throw a case on it anyway... ?

It's not. Trust me. My full time job is reverse-engineering Huawei devices.
Many of the Chinese resellers who rebrand phones are my customers.
If someone tells you it is, they're mistaken. They're either scamming you, or they don't realize the changes in oeminfo for the Kirin 980 generation of phones. The oeminfo is encrypted/signed for each individual device, and modifying the regional branding isn't possible. Having a fully rebranded device isn't possible. Nobody has developed a way to do it, and sadly, it's looking unlikely to be able to fully rebrand the phone.
I'm only telling you to help you not get scammed. I'll be very impressed if you prove me wrong.

It's not an issue of being able to write to the memory of the phone. Anyone can do this with an unlocked bootloader. The issue is the regional branding of the phone, and the inability to change it from all/cn to something else due to device-specific signing/encryption.
It's fine if you don't believe me, but I think you will be disappointed with what happens if you trust they can do it.

It seems that you have been very, very badly misinformed about both Huawei's production process and the relevancy of region/branding. Still, I'm very interested to see what the reseller ends up doing, so please let us know.

I did a quick search for EVR-L29 Malaysia and did come up with a midnight blue or phantom silver for sale on Expansys.

Ye Malaysia and Singapore are the only known regions that i know of which have both color EVR-L29, I'm not sure about 3rd party sellers, if it's true or not but since i bought it from an official seller/store, i have the phone and it's legit EVR-L29 phantom silver but not sure about the others. You're also covered with the 2 years Huawei warranty + mpen and smart cover free (maybe a limited time offer).
Most EVR-L29 from resellers are coming from HK supply and HK only have Blue for now in global version, that's why you see most of the time Blue ones.
