Cell standby over 20% all the time - One (M9) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Just had my new m9, with 6.0.
I noticed my cell standby in my battery usage list is usually ober 20% and sometimes over 30%.
What can you say about it? Is it normal?

Desire Battery Life Poor

Just received my Desire two days back and I am loving it!
However, why is my battery consumption excessive? I mean I charged my battery this morning to 100% and with hardly any use (meaning the phone has been on standby most of the time) it is now at 20%. WiFi turned off, data connection turned off. Would I have a faulty device or is this a software issue?
My HD2 was much better and would last me 2 days with hardly using it, and using it in the same way.
I am using latest software version: 1.21.405.2
Thanks
The battery on mine was absolute tripe for the first few days. After that it improved a lot. Perhaps the new batteries need a sort of break in period. Could go two days on one charge most of the time but I'd rather not risk it most of the time.

Have a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=666404 to find out if your phone is sleeping properly and some potential fixes if it isn't. I did a test overnight and in airplane mode my desire only dropped 2% battery in 8hours asleep
Indeed.. the first day I got it the battery lasted less than 10th hours, now after 10th days after 24 hours of medium use it was at 25%

[Q] Desire Z Battery life - What's it like?

I'm looking into buying a Desire Z, but am concerned a little about battery life. What's it like? I used notifications and twitter sync a lot on my nexus, so it's moderate to heavy use. What's it going to be like?
Thanks in advance.
Although I have the G2, they should be similar. I get on average about 17 hours out of my stock battery and 26 hours out of my Galilo battery off of ebay that is rated at 1800 mah.
I have about 11 hours for a day, where 9 of them is internet(3 for wi-fi and 6 for 3g), 1 hour games, 1 hour standby.

For me, moderate use is 12 hours on a good day. We desperately need some new battery technology.

If I run the Virtuous 1.0.1 (HTC Sense) ROM and the Standard kernel, I can easily get more than 12 hours of regular use and close to 20-24 hours with little use.

Do you need a new cover with the external battery? Cause the G2/Desire Z is pretty thick on its own....
here is what i get out of a day (battery consumption for specific tasks are mentioned in percentages measured using juiceplotter)
wifi on constantly
display set to 24% brightness
background sync enabled (google, weather 6hrs, whatsapp and facebook once a day)
45 min video (rockplayer no h/w decoding) 15%
1 hr browsing+chat 15%
30 min calls 6%
20 min music+chat 5%
20 min general usage 5%
1 hr flash streaming 15%
24 hrs standby 24% (@ 1% for every hr of standby)
15% battery remaining after 24 hrs i.e. low battery warning.
pretty amazing battery life IMO i am very happy.
Desire z and tmo g2 will have diff battey life since desire z has htc sence while the Tmo G2 just has a stock android 2.2.1. But I miself get from up to 10 hours out of it and that's milking the battery till I get 10%. I'm a hevy user of the phone wifi on most of the day. Nimbuzz or ebuddy messanger always on. And and play gunbros onit ... but all I all happy with the battery life

This really depends on how you define 'moderate' or 'heavy' usage... We all have different habits with our cell phones and there are tons of variables that impact your battery life.
There are a few threads that discuss the 'battery issue' in great detail.
In short, for me, moderate usuage yields about 12-15 hours and HEAVY use, gets me about 8-10. On most work days, I have no problem making it through the day. Its the weekends when I am 'playing' with my phone constantly that requires a quick charge in the afternoon to surive through the night.

Cell standby

I've been better monitoring my batterylife today to see if I can get by on a normal work day or if I'll need an exteded battery (ever since getting the phone its been dying very quickly, because I've been playing games on it). So far, it's been going all day and will definetly reach the 10 hour mark with web browsing and texting. However I do 1 concern, 30% of my battery life has been used up by 'Cell Standby'. Is this normal? I had an extended battery on my g1, so I never had to worry about battery life too much, and don't know how much cell standby took up on it. I'm just suprised that it takes up more than "android System" or anything else on my phone.
Htc G2 on At&t with cyanogen 7.0.3 clocked at ~800mghz
(Could it be because its on the att network?)
Update- just to give you a grasp of my battery usage for the day:
was not put in charger all day
currently at 10%
been on for 13h and 56m

cell stanby 31%
Phone Idle 22%
wifi 19%
display 13%

Voice Calls 2%

Power Saver Core Stats/ScreenShots.

Share your screenshots of your idle time (Screen on time doesn't matter as this is only concerning the effectiveness of the 5th core)
I'll get the ball rolling, can anyone beat 7 hours idle time with only 1% drop? (Only 10 mins screen time)
Dropped to 98% about 15 minutes later.
Is that in airplane mode? That's pretty good, I probably lose 3-4% of 7hrs at night on standard settings....regardless that's very nice.
My mate has an S3 his cell standby can lose him up to 20% battery a night!!!

It was in airplane mode for about five hours (up until my first break) then it had full signal there after, so it didn't lose battery searching at all.

Is my battery life normal?

I went to bed last night after unplugging my phone at 100% and woke up to find it at 84%. After browsing through the Internet for around 30 minutes, the battery dropped another 10%. I just downloaded gsam and will post up a screen shot after a full days of use. But I have seen people who can go 7 hours continuous YouTube streaming with this phone. I've owned this phone for almost 2 weeks.

i have found that my M8 tends to drain quite a bit in deep sleep. I had a nexus 5 and with everything off except wifi, i'd lose 3-4% in 8 hrs. compared to the same settings and a 10% drain on my m8.

There's over 900 replies in that thread dedicated to the battery of the M8
Guys I had the same issue in deep sleep but with a custom kernel(i have the ElementalX), my phone now in deep sleep loose 1-2% the whole night!

Go to settings, and battery history. If 3. bar is always active, then something is unnecessary draining your phone. I don't know what. Download Clean Master and clean RAM, or just reboot the phone, and that issue will probably dissappear

There's definitely something wrong. Download GSam to find out which apps are draining your battery, then fix their settings (ie. social media apps are always syncing by default, turn that plague OFF). I suggest to freeze all apps you aren't actively using especially those who seem to be draining your battery. On the M8 you should expect at LEAST a full day of heavy usage, ie. 5hrs screen on time + 20 hrs standby.
