4.16.1540.8 - http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...G_20.68.4196.01_F_release_411207_signed_2.exe
then you can do OTA to Marshmallow 6.12.1540.4

Thanks,
even if I have cid = 11111111 ?

Yes - 11111111 or SuperCID is a universal CID, RUU/OTA will accept that.
You need to relock bootloader before you run RUU because your device now is S-On
and you need a Windows PC with USB2.0 and latest HTC USB driver installed.
If you're not sure about HTC USB driver - download HTC Sync Manager - http://www.htc.com/us/support/software/htc-sync-manager.aspx
install then after uninstall HTC Sync Manager but leave the HTC USB driver

and another questions to be sure:
1) I get the device with 4.16.1540.8 installed , why i need to install it again ?
2) my device is s-on , does it affects on updates with supercid ?

1. I don't know why - you asked for the RUU so I gave you the link. You should know better whether you need it or not.
2. No .. as long as the ROM in your system now is non-rooted (never rooted) and stock recovery is installed .. should be fine.
If you're not sure then run the RUU then do OTA. Before that you can try to update and see whether it will success or fail.
Settings - about - software update.

when I try to update from Settings the device found new version 4.17.1540.9 but get the following message :
"We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone. If you did not modify your system software or would like help reverting your system, please contact us via the support section at wwwhtccom"

Your getvar doesn't show any irregularity.
I updated my M8 also on same CID 11111111 and MID 0P6B12000
So I have no idea .. I first helped because you asked for RUU.
Lets wait if anyone else will come to help for other problem
@redpoint73 - if you are around .. maybe you can help to confirm whether this device is AT&T or Developer Edition.
I have a feeling this is an AT&T converted to DEV ED and re S-On
@tapuz12ewq
Another possibility is your device is a AT&T originally .. you also can install RUU for AT&T, only thing is there is no Marshmallow update yet for AT&T - you can get the RUU 4.28.502.2 here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2751432

Thanks,
so I little bit confused , to fix it , which RUU are safe to install , 4.28.502.2 or 6.12.1540.4 ?

6.12.1540.4 definitely won't work, you'll get error 155 unless HTC already fix the RUU.
You can only try either 4.16.1540.8 or 4.28.502.2 and I'm not so sure whether installing 4.28.502.2 will success or not because your current version is 4.16.1540.8
another RUU that you can try is 4.17.1540.9 - http://dl3.htc.com/application/RUU_...G_20.68.4196.01_F_release_446501_signed_2.exe
Or ... S-Off the device with SunShine app (USD25) then you can fix it with any RUU.
I got to rest now ... it's 3 AM here ... good luck

That's stock recovery for lollipop.
LRX22C - Android 5.0.1
LRX22G - Android 5.0.2
So which of the RUU that your tried ? I have a feeling that both will fail unless the device is S-Off again. The previous owner shouldn't change the S-Off status unless he put all the correct CID/MID to the device.
Maybe it needs the actual CID BS_US001 instead of 11111111 to get the OTA, personally I never have any problem with 11111111

after I successfully installed 4.17.1540.9 from RUU
I tried to install the marshmallow update from by OTA but it failed with the same error :
"We have determined that your phone may be running a modified version of its system software. For your protection, we cannot update your phone. Please revert your phone to the official HTC system software to update your phone. how can I install the next update ?

It's weird that the RUU can be successfully installed but not OTA.
So .. you can try this to install next RUU 6.12.1540.4
1. Download the 6.12.1540.4 firmware - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4jGj3SfskzMbzBtd1R1VHlmbVU/view?usp=sharing
2. Download the 6.12.1540.4 RUU if you still don't have it - http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
3. place the firmware.zip that you downloaded in your fastboot folder then open command prompt from your fastboot folder
4.Put your device to bootloader/fastboot mode
Run below commands:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You'll see -
if failed : FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately)
repeat fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot-bootloader
5. Run 6.14.1540.4 RUU
6. Done

can I instead move from s-on to s - off with the sunshine app, maybe after that i will get the OTA ?

Yes .. that's a wise move to S-Off then you can change the CID to BS_US001 then you should be able to install OTA whenever it is available.
Also note, this 6.12.1540.4 maybe the last major update as the HTC support for major update end by March or April 2016.

BS_US001 also will keep my phone sim free ?
what about MID ?

Your phone is already SIM unlocked.
Change of CID has no effect on it.
No need to change MID as that's the Developer Ed MID

HTC One M8 Telus OTA Firmware.zip

Hey so I had converted my M8 to GPe but am now selling it so I'm putting it back to Sense. Everything's working except for the wifi which I had issues with in the past from not flashing the Telus firmware.zip again from a 4.4.4 OTA file. At this link http://d-h.st/BfV the OTA file is there but there's only two fake looking download buttons that Chrome says both are malicious. One downloads an .exe and the other gets outright blocked. Can anyone help me out with finding the OTA file for Telus?
Thanks, I'm selling the phone in a few hours and am freaking as the wifi doesn't currently work! :/
Bump I just need the firmware.zip for Telus, the official OTA Collection on this forum's links are busted for me at least.

Oh ok, and ya I am but I used a different firmware and now my phone's got the HTC silver logo with 4 triangles with exclamation points in each other. I can only see that screen or what looks like the bootloader but it says the following:

RADIO-1.21.21331147A1.19_2G
OpenDSP-v46.2.2-00564-M8974_F0.0811

RUU <----- this is white text with an orange box around it
I'd love some help with recovering the phone to being usable again, I feel like a total dumbass :/ thanks in advance!

The orange RUU means your phone is stuck in RUU mode, meaning you've not completed the firmware flash, you cant use that OTA file for the firmware, first of all, its the wrong firmware for your phone, and an OTA firmware is not full firmware, its only an update to parts, and 2nd, your phone has developer edition 1540 firmware, you need the full firmware of 3.28.1540.5 full wipe package or the RUU.
RUU zip: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95897840722643418 flash it like firmware.

Sometimes is a full package, sometimes its not. You're right, that sometimes if not all modules were updated (from the preceding OTA) typically its not a full package (only includes the parts that were updated).
Flashing firmware zips without knowing exactly what you are doing is really dangerous. I've seen folks flash a "partial" firmware, that didn't contain all the bootloader modules; only 2 of the 3, and the one that wasn't updated didn't correspond to the 2 that were. BRICK

My MID is whatever it had to be to be a GPe and my CID is set to SuperCID. I didn't want it to be dev I just needed a firmware that I thought would work and messed up.
EDIT: What steps do I have to take to get it out of being stuck in RUU? I tried using ADB to flash the RUU like a firmware and it doesn't work. It says it's the max download size and that it can't load firmware.zip

if you are s-off, you needed to change your MID and CID to match the firmware you are flashing, if you are still s-off, then you can edit the dev ed firmware you have downloaded, edit the android-info.txt file, change the MID in that file to whatever yours is and add your CID to the text file to whatever yours is too, then save it.
As your phone is already in RUU mode, with it highlighted on the screen, unplug the USB lead, and then plug it back in, should go back to the black screen with silver HTC logo.
DO NOT GO S-ON EVER AT THIS POINT, you'll be flashing a modified firmware, modified with your CID and MID and s-on will lead to an instant brick
Thats if this even works at all :fingers-crossed: only thing I can think of to try as its too late to change your phones MID and CID.

Okay so progress!! I just reflashed a firmware from before and followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGWNtRAkRqs

noooo, forget the OTA all together, you cant take the chance that its not a full firmware, if its not you'll have a brick.
which firmware "from before" did you flash ?
Change your cid and mid to match the dev edition RUU and then run the RUU.

ok well first of all, you need to change that modelID, I suggest as you flashed the 401 firmware, you may as well stay on that, its world wide english international firmware, however your modelID is for google play edition, you need to change that to WWE, so see here, and make sure you copy and paste the commands, because one slip up with this and you'll have a brick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2708581 choose the one for HTC Europe MID, ignore the fastboot reboot command at the very end of that instruction set.
then change you cid to HTC__001 (thats 2 underscores, cid is always 8 characters)
post your fastboot getvar all again once done and we'll take it from there.

no, bear with me 1 min, on my M7 there was an app to run in recovery to change the MID, much easier, however, im just wondering if you run those commands in recovery, or within a booted rom.

Your device is a Sprint .. you shouldn't convert it to any Intl GSM/GPE. You shouldn't change its MID.
Not sure whether this is still fixable because on Verizon I know, this conversion will kill the radio.
Change back your MID to 0P6B70000
and get the correct firmware and RUU here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2729173
Anything you're not sure, ask in that thread or in Sprint Q&A
Hold Power + Volume Up for at-least 20secs and when screen turns black, release the buttons and hold Volume Down until you enter bootloader... which is mainly couple of seconds.

The OP is already in bootloader, and stuck there.
CID Numbers (Sprint only):
SPCS_001: standard Sprint M8
SPCS_004: Harman/Kardon version M8
I would try to rewrite the correct cid--> Update Hboot to 3.19-->Relock Bootloader-->Flash latest Ruu

Tho latest Ruu should already contain the 3.19 Hboot

In addition to your comment, that hboot does not need to be updated before RUU (RUU will do it):
1) Need to change MID back to Sprint MID to RUU
2) Shouldn't need to change CID, but it doesn't hurt to do so.
3) No need to relock bootloader to RUU, since OP is s-off.
But I agree, the OP should try to RUU back to Sprint stock image. (and obviously take the actions to meet the requirements to do so). After that, if is still doesn't work its probably a radio brick.

Error 155 is usually fixed by relocking Bootloader. Since the phone is in a funny state I would advise putting all chances on your side. Dont worry if the logic says S-off doesnt need BL relocked , you just need every chance to flash Stock ruu back to the phone
Thanks, i will try it...
So, if it's work i can unlock the phone to use another operator ?

Boot Loader Loop, Unlocked, S-Off, Rooted HTC M8 Tmobile
A year ago I believe I used HBoot and or Firewater to root my M8. I recently removed some applications that seemed to make my phone act funny, and now the phone is stuck in a boot loop, or rather just a boot and stop at the second HTC "One" screen. Not exactly a loop.
I've download ADB tool and tried the fastboot method to install TWRP but have no success because the computer does not recognize the phone while running ADB or Fastboot, therefore I cant install TWRP and am stuck in the bootloader menu. I have tried various different cables and restarted the pc several times, and installed htc sync and other drivers necessary for that process. Also uninstalled and installed different drivers later as well. Now im not sure what i have installed but I have access to the phones internal drive via explorer.
Using Hboot.

Recovery leads to nothing and eventually returns to the HTC One menu stop.
Reset does nothing, acts like fast boot actually.
Ramdump under fastboot seems to works, and does produce log files.
While the phone was still active, I managed to create a full "manual" backup of the device by plugging it in and backing up/copying the entire internal memory. After screwing with the phone and every option for several hours I managed to access the files of the internal memory by switching to recovery mode via the boot menu and then plugging in the phone via usb to comp while deleting the drivers at the same time. I tried a full restoration of the internal backup i made, by copy and replace if the same method, but still nothing.
Ive attached an image of the Hboot menu with the details and options of that Hboot for those of you familiar with hboot.
The ideal situation, or what i'd like to do is restore the phone without flashing the rom and loosing the information, then id like to upgrade to lollipop or a new custom rom I found here actually, but the first step is getting back into the phone which i would be very grateful for in general.
also, not great with cmd and all that stuff, I do have sdk tools downloaded and installed but not great with that either. If there was a more simple way to replace existing files in the phone via the file manager (because im able to access the internal drive via the file manager, that would be the most ideal and easiest situation. But knowing the path and the boot files and which files are necessary for boot is what im looking for as well.
Also i know how to flash a sd and htc has a sdcard slot as well. Also i should mention that prior to the phone being screwed up I did want to delete some internal certificates because i believe someone installed a spy application on the phone, hence the reason for all of this checkup and removal anyway. In the process of trying to do that, i followed a tutorial on this forum which suggested I create a security lock pin, which I did. This could also be the cause of the problem not being recognized by the adb or fastboot script.
Who ever helps me do that gets a tip.
Please help.

[Solved] No OS, No Recovery HELP please HTC One (M8) Unlocked

I have a US HTC One M8 that I bought direct unlocked from htc's site direct in January 2015.
I rooted my device, and was running Paranoid Android 5.1 with TWRP recovery and decided to switch back to stock so I could sell the device.
I downloaded the RUU for my device from htc's site (ruu 6.12.1540.4 for unlocked/developer htc one m8).
I plugged in my device, typed in "fastboot oem lock" until the top of the bootloader said "Software status: modified" and "RELOCKED."
Then I ran the RUU but got Error 155 saying it was the wrong RUU. My device now had a silver HTC logo stuck in the middle. I pressed the power + volume down and got to the bootloader.
But now there is no option for "Recovery" in the bootloader, and the "Reboot" option just takes me straight back to the bootloader.
Here is what it says at the bootloader now:
***Software status: Modified***
*** RELOCKED***
***Security Warning ***
It says OS-4.16.1540.8
In addition, I can't charge without the screen being on. I plug in my phone and it shows the battery icon for a few seconds and then goes back into the booloader with "fastboot ac"
Please help me get my device working & back to stock. Any information or tips will help. I can take photos and provide with any additional information if needed.
Thanks.

about error 155, try the following
1. Lock your bootloader through by booting into hboot and then going into fastboot and issuing the command "fasboot oem lock".
2. Once locked, reboot your system.
3. Open RUU and follow onscreen instructions.
Should work. Best of luck
How do I flash a new recovery?
SergioRmz, My device is S-ON, not developer edition, just factory unlocked from htc
Rawfire, I can't flash a RUU. The RUU just gives me an error after a few seconds from starting it - it says try again with a different RUU / wrong RUU (error 155).
Also, could you help me flash a new recovery? Could I flash a new recovery, then flash someone's stock nandroid backup & recovery to get my device to stock? Can I do all of this with a RELOCKED & S-ON device?
I have no idea how to flash a new recovery so instructions would be very very helpful
One final question - Can you tell me the best way in my current sitatution to get my device to stock without S-OFF? I'm willing to try anything (except S-off) to get my device to stock so I can sell it / trade it in.

I can suggest couple of things, unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery and then you can flash any compatible rom,
Or to suggest some exact RUU, what's your device's exact model?

Just tried this, said "Device was already locked!"
Then tried RUU again, still said Error 155 "please get the correct RUU and try again"
When I unplug the phone it says error zip file with RUU written under it, and I had to press power + volume down to get it to the bootloader again.
Thanks for your continued help rawfire.

Is that os-4.16.1540.8 written on the bootloader ? If yes, you have a Dev Ed device, the other RUU meant for EU won't work for you.
Post fastboot getvar all (without serial & imei no.) then we know the actual device version
If it is indeed a Dev Ed device, what you need to do :
1. flash the 6.12.1540.4 firmware
See this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64407841&postcount=2862
How-to, see this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64416322&postcount=2864
2. Run RUU 6.12.1540.4 after the firmware is installed
Or the easy way is :

Is that os-4.16.1540.8 written on the bootloader ? If yes, you have a Dev Ed device, the other RUU meant for EU won't work for you.
Post fastboot getvar all (without serial & imei no.) then we know the actual device version
If it is indeed a Dev Ed device, what you need to do :
1. flash the 6.12.1540.4 firmware
See this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64407841&postcount=2862
How-to, see this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64416322&postcount=2864
2. Run RUU 6.12.1540.4 after the firmware is installed
Or the easy way is :
find 4.16.1540.8 RUU and install this then after, do OTA to 4.17.1540.9 then 6.12.1540.4

Then it is confirmed that you have a Dev Ed device.
Go with the easy way that I posted above. Install RUU 4.16.1540.8 then do OTA to the latest, done.
Additional - as you mentioned you're going to sell this device, I suggest after the last OTA 6.12.1540.4 is done, run RUU 6.12.1540.4 to remove all the OTA leftovers in device. You'll have a clean device after the last RUU.

4.16.1540.8 RUU has been stuck at "Updating.. (0/7) Sending....." for 20+ minutes now. Phone is showing just the silver htc logo, no progress bar or anything else.
Should I try flashing the 6.12.1540.4 firmware now? Thanks for the help so far ckpv5
Also, is the phone charging while connected to the computer & updating? Just asking since I can't see the battery percent (no OS) and don't want the phone to die while flashing.

This show you have USB/PC connection problem. To run RUU you need Windows PC with USB2.0 and the latest HTC USB drivers installed.
See the How-To linked above for the HTC Sync Manager download page, install it as it will install the USB Driver, then uninstall the Sync Manager but leave the driver
While flashing .. charging is minimal, won''t be enough if you don't have at least 70% battery

Thanks for the info, going to reinstall HTC Sync Manager and try again. Does it need to be USB 2.0, or can it be USB 3.0?
Also, how long can I charge without having the screen burn because when I plug in the phone to the wall or the the computer, it shows the bootloader screen. It stays in that screen while charging so I don't want to charge for extended periods otherwise screen will burn. Can you tell me if I am right on this?

You must use USB2.0
When in bootloader, choose power down then charge it, you'll see the progress and there will be no screen burn.
If you don't have a USB2.0 - other options :
Option 1:
Clean your PC temp folder - just select "run" then type %temp% and clear all that your can.
Run the RUU again (not necessary to connect to phone), when the RUU dialog open, check in %temp% you should see two new folders are created. Find ROM.zip in one of the folder, copy out the ROM.zip to your desktop. You can close the RUU dialog box.
Rename the RUU.zip to 0P6BIMG.zip (that's a zero not "O") then put it on your microSD.
boot to bootloader then select hboot or boot to hboot - it's your choice
hboot will scan the file and ask to volume up to update
volume up
finish, press power to reboot and do all the setup stuff
remove 0P6BIMG.zip from your microSD
now you have ROM installed then can proceed with OTA and the rest.
Option 2:
Re unlock your bootloader again with your unlock_code.bin that you got from HTC.
Install TWRP 2.8.7.0
Restore a clean non-rooted 4.16.1540.8 nandroid backup and its stock recovery
Reboot.. setup.. OTA..OTA.. done.
You can get all the needed files in the link shown in my signature
So now .. you have 3 options to choose.
1. RUU method
2. 0P6BIMG.zip method
3. Nandroid method
I got to go now ... good luck

Thanks a TON ckpv5. I followed your instructions & reinstalled HTC Sync Manager, then connected the cable to a USB 2.0 port instead of 3.0. The RUU method you originally suggested worked like a charm. I now have stock HTC software, stock recovery just like I wanted. I then did an OTA to the latest software. When I sell my device in a few days, I'll be sure to follow your tip and run the latest 6.12.1540.4 RUU to clear off all the old OTA files.
Many thanks again for your help - hopefully others will see the 3 solutions you posted.

Marshmallow OTA failed

Hi All,
I'd like a bit of advice/help.
I went to update my phone to Marshmallow OTA and it did it's thing. I left the phone for hours and it appeared to be stuck on android is starting. I restarted the phone and it's now stuck on the HTC splash screen. Recovery options don't work etc.
I've searched around and there are loads of guides but these tend to lean towards rooting. I'm not looking to root but instead looking to get the phone back to factory software that it was originally on.
It's a UK model locked to the 3 network. See below for info taken from the phone.
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone assist? I'm desperate here. I've not had a working phone for days here. The guides I've seen appear to apply to either previously rooted phones or suggest I get the file from the HTC us site but my software versions is newer than those listed.
I have HTC tool kit installed and android studio so any tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Is the bootloader UNLOCKED ? or LOCKED or RELOCKED ?
If it is UNLOCKED, I can suggest to restore a non-rooted stock backup.
If it is LOCKED, you can try going to recovery and do data wipe from there (provided that is stock recovery)
and don't use Toolkit .. it brings more harm for less experience user
I've managed to unlock the boot loader. How do restore using a non rooted standard backup? Thanks for replying.
1. You need these files adb/fastboot and HTC USB drivers installed
Read this for the files : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926362&postcount=4
2. Read this thread post #1 on How-To restore a backup and install stock recovery
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help/tutorial-how-to-stock-stock-twrp-t3086860
3. Install TWRP 3.0.0.1 - https://dl.twrp.me/m8/
4. Download and restore 6.13.771.4 backup (from post #3 from link on no.2)
5. Download and install 6.13.771.4 stock recovery (from post #4 link on no.2)
6. Reboot and see whether it works or not
Thanks for that.
It's now at the stage where the apps have been optimized and it's now just hanging at the "Android is starting..." "Starting Apps...".
This was my original issue I had when the software was updated first time round.
Any clues on how to get past that?
Thanks

No clues ... hopefully it's not hardware problem.
What you can try .. restore one version lower, then do OTA becuase OTA will reinstall the firmware.
Restore 4.25.771.6 backup & its recovery.img then check for OTA, download and install.
The downgrade worked and I updated to Marshmallow but for some reason, the phone still hangs on Android is upgrading and starting apps. I'm at a loss as to what to do next. I don't want to use a phone on an old version of software and never upgrade.
So you can boot the lollipop but not Marshmallow ?
I don't know whether you can find htc signed 6.13.771.4 firmware.zip .. this is the only thing I have in mind. Maybe manually flashing the firmware.zip will fix your problem.
I'm already in bed as I will be outstation in the morning. If you can wait, just run the lollipop for the time being. I will give you the firmware.zip on Sunday night (GMT +8) to try to fix it.
Hopefully someone else will be able to help you while I'm not around.
Would changing the CID and MID and selecting a different software package work perhaps?
You only can change CID & MID on a S-Off device.
To S-Off your device you need to pay usd25 for the Sunshine app.
Why don't you try a Marsmallow custom ROM to see whether you can boot it.
If you can at least you can run a Marshmallow ROM until you fix your problem.
I'm signing off now .. goodnight & good luck
Thanks, if anyone else could assist that would be appreciated. I've installed a custom marshmallow rom and all went well but it still suffers with the same fault. It hangs on starting apps. No matter what I do this phone doesn't like Marshmallow!

Sure can .. I get back to you once I'm back from outstation tomorrow evening.
1. Restore the Marshmallow 6.13.771.4 backup if you're on different ROM
2. Download firmware.zip
3. Put your device on bootloader/fastboot mode and put the firmware.zip in your fastboot/adb folder and open a command prompt from this folder
4. Run below commands
fastboot oem lock - to relock your bootloader because your device is S-On
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
You'll see -
if failed : FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately)
repeat fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
fastboot reboot
check whether your wifi is working now ..
Thanks for that, what I did in the mean time was use the sunshine app to S-Off and change my CID and MID to a deveolper phone. All was fine until the phone upgraded to marshmallow. It still hangs on the Android is upgrading starting apps. It seems no matter what I do this phone will not accept marshmallow.
Any other ideas as to why? So odd why marshmallow doesnt boot past this screen.
Since now your device is S-Off .. instead of updating it to Marshmallow, have you tried running a Marshmallow RUU on it ?
(Assuming your current firmware installed is 6.12.1540.4)
Here is the RUU : http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-one-m8/news/
If after running the RUU and still the same problem .. I have to say that I'm out of idea.

I'm downloading one now. I'll update you with the outcome. I'm at a loss as to why this is happening. What does the RRU contain?
It has every images that a device need. Means it removes everything on your device and replace them with new images that come from the RUU.
One thing to note, other that those drivers and HTC USB Drivers that you need (in my previous post), you need a PC with USB2.0
It's currently optimizing apps so we'll see if it boots up. Is there much difference between doing an OTA through all the various updates and going straight via an RRU?

Sadly, it still does the same thing. Would a hardware fault possibly cause this?

[SOLVED] ROM update failing 155 on Super CID. [SOLVED]

Hello everyone,
I just bought this used HTC M8. It has android version 4.3.3 and software version 2.22.401.5
If I use "Get Var All" function I get that my mobile Model Id is PB0613000 and CID is 1111111
I cannot update OTA. I cannot install Rom manually cause it gives error 155.
My bootloader is locked and S-OFF too.
I have no idea how to install ROM in it and what Rom. I have used unlocked official rom and also the one T-Mobile released officially, Both gave error 155.
Please help me.
Thank you.
If you want to install either Dev Ed or T-Mob 6.xx RUU, you need to flash its firmware first.
e.g. to install 6.20.531.5 RUU, you must flash 6.20.531.5 firmware.zip first.

I changed my MID and CID and installed a stock recovery.
Now I downloaded this file from HTC's website, RUU 6.12.1540.14. Can you tell me where can I download its firmware?

I don't need custom recovery for it right?
It fails after 5 minutes on "sending.........." :/
Yes.. just right click the RUU and select run as administrator.
Make sure you run it on Windows PC with usb 2.0
and latest htc usb drivers are installed.

I am doing exactly like this.
I don't know what is wrong.
My MID is 0P6B12000
CID is BS_US002
Software Version 2.22.401.5
Android Version 4.4.3
Stock Recovery is 4.16.1540.8
Then I flashed firmware of 6.12.1540.4
And I am installing RUU_M8_UL_M60_SENSE70_MR_BrightstarUS_WWE_6.12.1540.4
When I check for updates it says your phone is up to date (been checking from past 1 and a half week)
It either gets stuck on "0% Sending........" at RUU menu.
Or it fails giving the error[155] Make sure you are using the correct Rom.
Mobile screen is stuck at HTC Logo.
When I unplug the mobile it opens fastboot saying "Fail zip info" I have to restart mobile to make it work.
My Bootloader was unlocked, I Locked it using Echo Su command.
Then I unrooted Mobile by going to super su > complete unroot.
What is possibly wrong with my mobile? ALL I want to do is update my mobile to marshmallow either by OTA or Manual.
P.s. I'm new to android so I don't know a lot of stuff about it. Sorry.
Can you post fastboot getvar all (without serial & imei no.)

And I live in Asia.
Since you're in Asia .. I suggest to convert it to EU.
You already know how to change CID/MID, change it to CID 11111111 or HTC__001 and MID 0P6B10000
then you can follow this : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=64926626&postcount=6
It seems that you have USB connection issue when it stuck on "0% Sending........" when using RUU exe, so a RUU zip could be better for you.
Anyway .. if you still want to update it to 6.12.1540.4 instead of convert it to EU .. what you can do is run the RUU exe, no need to connect M8 to PC, open your windows "temp" folder (in "run" type %temp%), you should see 2 new folders. One of them has rom.zip
Copy this rom.zip to your desktop, then you can follow the same guide on how to install it with htc_fastboot
Or you can rename this rom.zip to 0P6BIMG.zip and place it on your microSD. Boot to bootloader then select hboot, it will scan the file and ask whether you want to update. Volume up to update. After successfully update, remove/delete this 0P6BIMG.zip from the microSD
Edit : the easiest for you now is (since the firmware is already updated), install latest TWRP and restore 6.12.1540.4 backup that you can find in my backup thread .. after restore .. done.
So .. I can say you have 3 options here

Edit : the easiest for you now is (since the firmware is already updated), install latest TWRP and restore 6.12.1540.4 backup that you can find in my backup thread .. after restore .. done.
So .. I can say you have 3 options here

Thank you so much!
I did something else, But it worked.
What I did was put my mobile in Fastboot USB mode, And then run the RUU. I also used another USB port you were right about that too.
It worked fine.
I tried doing it before but it didn't work I think it was because of the firmware.zip thing you told me. So thanks a lot again!
Just tell me that I will get OTA updates from now on right?

Great that you fixed it.
Yeah .. you will get OTA if there is one in the future.
But I don't think there will be any as M8 is already 2 years old and HTC stop support after 18 months.
