This thread is for Devs trying to crack the encryption on the Droid X's bootloader.
The linked files are from the leaked .588 update. If you look through them with a binary viewer (Bless works best on Linux) you can see all of the eFuse commands, and also a 'ROM_FAILED' phase.
What we know:
2048-Bit RSA encrypted
2048-Bit means only 245 bytes of encrypted data
Partition can be echoed to a computer ( it's mmcblk1p15 )

So what could I use this for?

The really long string of numbers and letters (with a few symbols) could be the encryption key for the bootloader. The attached file is definitely an encryption key for something, but it is password protected, and therefore encrypted its self.
THE PASSWORD FOR ENGINEERING_KEY.P12 IS: password
How funny would it be if this applied to all Moto phones? lol

How about if the bootloader passcode/key was just password/key. That would make things real easy.
SOOOOOOO CLOSE!!!!!!
Brian: Hi, my name is Brian. How may I help you?
Zeklandia: Hi, I seem to have lost the encryption key to my Droid X's bootloader
Brian: My apologies. Are you trying to root the device?
Zeklandia: No, just loading a custom kernel
Brian: My apologies but we do not have any encryption keys for the bootloader of the phone.
However, we do not recommend installing non-Motorola software on the device as it may cause concerns and it will void the warranty of the phone.
Zeklandia: Do you know somewhere I could go to find the keys/somebody I could talk to to get them?
Brian: My apologies but we do not have any information about that.
Zeklandia: Do you know who would
Zeklandia: ?
Brian: I am sorry but I we really do not have any information about the encryption keys.
Zeklandia: Okay, Thanks!
Brian: If you need any more information get in touch. Thanks from Motorola, bye!
Brian has disconnected.
Well, HELLO?!?!?!?!?!
I can't do all of this my self, and I'm running out of ideas.
The point is, SOPA sucks.

I always have a hard time figuring these things out. I don't ever know if I did it correctly and I have to spend hours looking up videos on the exact process to follow. Anyone willing to guide me through VOIP (like skype, mumble, or teamspeak) to root my Note and install a new ROM?
I have the SM-P600 with Kernel 3.4.39-2040736 [email protected] #1
I'd be willing to gift you some League of Legends skins (NA Server) for your time
Ok I figured it out. Only took about 3 hours.

Sure, whoever needs help. I'm going to guess you don't need help because according to your signature you already have the Note 2014 so you probably already rooted it. If you need help reply to this and send me your contact info.

No, I haven't rooted my Note. I'm waiting for the compelling reason. In the past, the motivation was easy. The Note has been snappy and I kinda like this version of TouchWiz so replacing the ROM is not a motivation.

You don't have to install a new ROM, you can keep the stock one if you like it.
The compelling reason is the same for any root: To give your device added functionality. Remove bloatware, add cool features like app data backup and ad blockers, and add any app to the Samsung Multi Window feature (and have more than 2 apps open if you want). And rooting takes about 30 seconds to do.
What's not compelling about that?

Bloatware hasnt slowed me down so I don't need to remove it. I've never used and ad blocker and don't find mult-window useful. I do miss Titanium Backup but Helium works, sorta. I'm still waiting for compelling. I don't really want to trigger Knox if I don't have to.

Thanks for that. Figured since it was released through the beta program as an OTA there still might be early issues... "Slow and janky" clarified that. Doesn't seem there is anything too horrible that doesn't work.
In your opinion could this still be a daily driver? Of course that always depends on what your doing with your phone.

It's not an official release. You'd be fine going back to O. You'd have to clean flash O more than likely. So back up stuff for sure :good:

I'd still hold off for a little while until it's been done a couple times just to make sure though. Although, I can't think of why it can't be done since it's not an official release yet.

So far havent found any show-stoppers. A few apps dont work. Google Pay is being weird about adding cards, though I have some added.
If you dont mind running into some bugs, then so far, it seems stable enough, but wont really know til after using it for a day.

so far the MyATT app crashes every open.
FiSwitch app, widget doesnt seem to work at all.
CustomNavigation bar app opens, but cannot be enabled due to Android version issue (also possible because Google seems to have gotten rid of system ui tuner altogether, or there is a new way you have to enable it that I havent found).
SolidExplorer gives a toast about API compatibility issue, but so far seems to work fine. I did have to delete and re-add cloud storage providers.
Off-hand, those are all I can think of, still have more to go through.
I installed factory images, did full wipe. In the past, when I have installed new OS with images, and deleted the -w (wipe user data flag) there were always issues, so I did clean install.
So far apps such as LightFlow, KWGT, CallFlash, things of that nature seem to be fine.

Hello Friends,
I use my pixel almost daily to pay for stuff with Google Pay.
Should I unlock and flash a custom ROM, or am I asking for regular headaches etc?
Thank you in advance for your thoughts

Check here, or my signature
I've NEVER seen it break. I think they only check things when you're actually setting it up. Once its set up, it keeps working.
Hi,
Recently I was looking for the best ROM for myself for my personal device and made a table for myself with the specific functions I needed. Thought it was worth sharing, it might be helpful if you are looking for a ROM for Poco F3. But it can also be helpful if you are looking for a ROM for a different device, and when specific ROM is in this table, because some ROMs are same on different devices.
All ROMs are AOSP or AOSP-like looking. Not any MIUI-based ROM tested by me. Remember, some things are subjective, like what ROM have bad design (gore) and what ROM not. Some other things are objective like launcher default included in specific ROM.
The list is updated as of today, but may expire quickly as there are changes in some ROMs.
26.07.2022 UPDATE: Unfortunately, the file below is currently not shared (not available to view now) due to problems with the Google server. Maybe too much viewers or something like that. DON'T ASK FOR SHARE FILE FOR NOW, I CAN'T FIX THIS, BLAME GOOGLE.
26.07.2022 UPDATE: Now fixed.

THANK YOU !!
Hi OP, thanks for sharing this list you make to help others. I have changed the tag from Development to General as Development is only for developers to post ROMs. Also I removed the telegram links, because telegram group is for developers only. Thank you for understanding.
This is brilliant! Thanks OP for sharing it here!
I don't know if you're taking suggestions for more tables but I was hoping you could add "Unlimited Google Photos storage" as one of them.
Bro which rom did you think was the best among these?
What about MIUI EU?
What is mean "way to set AMOLED" ?

It's option in settings like on attached screenshot (for now Awaken OS here), in some ROMs there is specific setting that make backgrounds completely black #00000 under dark mode settings or somewhere else, it depends on ROM where this setting is

I don't like MIUI personally, it's archaic and inconsistent (for example MIUI still not have support for Monet engine for MIUI apps, it have mostly gore themes in their theme store, ugly quick settings etc)

Done yesterday. I'm wondering about an improvement: in the table it would be so usefull if u clarify the exact tested build (it's well known some may be changed/fixed/removed/broken in future builds)
