Photos & external sdcard - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

AArgh... I have rooted 5.1. stock G4.
How is it possible (or is it) to give google photos app & snapseed permission to modify content of external sd card? It is ridiculous that photos app cannot delete photos from ext sdcard.

I use, an older version of, QuickPic for that :good:

[Q] Note 2 extSD card issue (cm 10.2)

Fx explorer and other filemanagers can read/write external SD card but apps like camera, CoolReader etc can't.
Camera app save pics and video to internal storage and not even ask a question where i'd like to save pics because app can't figure extSD.
If i choose fb2 file in filemanager i can't open it with CoolReader - until i move the file to internal sd

SD card and quickpic

Hi, I been using quick pic for years to be my gallery. I arrange photos and use the password protect for private photos. I got some private photos and wanted to put them in my folder on the ext. SD card. I cannot for the life of me figure out why this isn't working. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
Guess no one uses quick pic to organize their photos. I still have not figured out how to use the SD card to save photos.
Are you on KitKat? Writing to external sd was disabled on KitKat. A possible solution would be to edit the platform.xml to enable writing to the external sd. You'll have to be rooted to edit system files though.

[Q] Editing a installed app ?

i was just wondering is it possible to edit a app ?:
so that rather installing the videos and documents and audio to internal storage to , install to the /extsdcard instead
also look into the sdcard for said files instead of internal storage
Let's see here... I use xposed Downloads to SD, and many apps find what I put on SD. Some apps need to be moved to SD to find the data. fortunately, Android 4.x allows most apps to be moved to SD, so no special apps are needed.
So far all my media apps including Studio, Gallery, Hi-speed camera, Stock video player, and MX Player do just fine finding media both on SD and internal.
If you want defaults to SD storage, you will have to edit the config file associated with the app, if the app does not have a feature to change storage location. Not all apps have a config file nor use the ssystem.db database.
i have one app that can be moved to sd but still downloads its documents/videos/audio to internal storage ,, it doesnt matter if the app is on sd card or internal it always looks for the folders in internal storage even if i move the folders manualy
hmm sorry didnt read properly trying it out now
Gooberdude i salute you thanks for that , by using downloads2sd, i set the two main folders up for music and movies onto sd card, re-install the app and redownload from app, this binded the file on sd card to the app
exactly what i was looking for
thanx again
Your welcome!

Lineage 17.1 - photo storage on SD Card

I understand that there was a problem with using an SD Card as storage for photos on earlier versions of Lineage.
Whilst the pictures were saved to the card they were not stored in the standard photo directory DCIM/camera but in Android/data/org.lineageos.snap/files. Gallery can't find photos stored here .....so users have to manually transfer them.
As far as I can see this problem still persists in my installation.
Do anybody know if a solution is in sight or whether there is workaround ?

Gcam photos move to SD

I know that Gcam doesn't have an option to save photos taken to the SD card. Is there a way to move them automatically yo the SD card?
Just do it manually every week or so.
Do not name the SD folder DCIM or ever try to change the name of the original folder.
I found a way to get it done automatically by using Macrodroid, after I close Gcam, it moves all those pics to my SD card
