Apps requiring Google Play not working on Fire TV 2 - Fire TV Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello All,
I have a rooted Fire TV 2 and have installed Google Play. I was able to login to Google Play but none of the apps that require Google play will work. I know the playstore won't work for downloading apps etc. but on the Fire TV 1 the same install of gapps allows apps like MediaHouse UPNP and others to work. Is there a version of gapps that work for the Fire TV 2, or some workaround to get the apps requiring Google Play to work.
Thanks

Is it the lack of the Play store or Google Play Services? For the latter, try installing this XPosed module: http://repo.xposed.info/module/xeed.xposed.dngmod

thanks for the reply. I thought Xposed wasn't working on rooted Fire TV 2. There's a thread about Busybox working but not Xposed, if I'm not mistaken. I'm not concerned about the Play Store not working, only the apps that require it, so it probably is more of a Google Play Services issue. Have it working on my Fire TV 1 and although Xposed is installed I'm not using a Play Store module or anything. Just want to install whatever is required for the apps to work not necessarily for the Play Store.
thanks

Maybe Play Services Patcher?

thanks for the suggestion. Gave it a try but no go. You have to install his Google Play Services for the patcher to work, but it won't install on Fire TV 2 because it says incompatible. I'm really thinking it is just the version of Google Play and associated apps that is causing the problem.

[Q] Goog play music

I know you cant install apps from the play store without xposed and root (which is impossible now because of the use of an efuse http://paris.utdallas.edu/ssiri08/Tonti_SSIRI_eFuse_V2.pdf)
But can you install the framework needed to use google apps? like Google Play music via adb sideload?
has anyone tried this scenario yet?
I have not tried it yet but according to this post it is possible.
If you have rooted and using the latest firmware then you can still load up google play.
As far as google music, the latest apk even through google play wont work. You have to get one version less.
I have the apk if you need, I can upload it for you. Send me a pm. Try side loading that apk and test it out on your firetv if google play is what you are looking for.
Google Play Music APK Version?

Do you happen to have the version number? I've tried the following four - the two middle versions (^) crashed without loading, and the newest and 5.6 versions (*) loaded fine, but wouldn't let me set up an account:
Google Play Music 5.7.1788Q.1634597 *
Google Play Music 5.7.1783Q.1607940 ^
Google Play Music 5.7.1781Q.1595424 ^
Google Play Music 5.6.1642P.1595276 *
Any help would be fantastic. I'm not rooted, but there does seem to be some promise for side-loading Play Music.
I've been unsuccessful in getting the Google Play Music apk to work, installing it is no problem though,
I have managed to install the Google Play Music script via XBMC (Kodi) though, just push the app via the Fire TV tool, install it, enter your credentials via the configuration option & then run it.

Can't Get Google Play store on newly rooted Fire TV

Get a new Fire TV rooted and running great. However, couldn't get the Google Play store working as described here: http://www.aftvnews.com/how-to-install-the-google-play-store-on-the-amazon-fire-tv/
Is there a newer method or set of apks I should be using?
I extracted the Google APKs from a working rooted Fire TV and sideloaded them on the new Fire TV. Everything worked in the beginning. I was able to log in and it even began to try to update SuperSU. However, it froze up. It wouldn't work after that I suspect because it upgraded the google framework to the new version that doesn't work. I got around it by uninstalling the Google Framework app and the play store worked again. I used an Xposed Module to allow apps that need the framework to run without it.
Google APKs:

I have a similar issue with my FTV. Google play keeps updating, and causes it to stop working. Are you saying you used these apks to make it work again?
Can you please provide the steps you took to make it work again?

If Google Play quits as soon as it's run, uninstall all Google Play modules and use the APKs I posted above.
If you already have Google Play installed, but it only works if Google Play Services is removed (and you need Google Play Services for certain apps) and are rooted:
Install the Xposed Framework if you don't already have it installed.
Remove Google Play Services.
Download, install, and enable the Xposed Framework module called "This App Will Run Without Google Play Services" here: http://repo.xposed.info/module/xeed.xposed.dngmod

Google play store gives white screen on rooted box.

I have noticed that all my rooted boxes now eventually go to a white screen with the google play store and it no longer will open. Is there any fix for this? I am not sure what has caused this unless mabye google play store is not compatible with the latest prerooted firmware?
That's probably due to the Google Play services. Uninstall it and install the XPosed Module that circumvents the need for Google Play Services

I have xposed module already installed are you saying to keep google play services uninstalled? I thought that was one of the four files necessary for Google play store to function.

You might need it to install play store (though I'm not sure) But I can say the method posted above works. Just uninstall play services and activate the module.

Is this new? I've been running play store fine for a year and this is the first time I hear of needed to uninstall Google play services. I've also had xposed installer running all this time.

People been reporting it on & off for a few months. Xposed really has nothing to do with it except to download the mod in the link above and activate it (same way you did hdxposed by rbox). Fire os wasn't meant to run play store and the fact its based on jellybean means more & more we'll have issues. But this device isn't the only one to have problems with play services (hence the xposed mod.) Hopefully we get the lollipop update soon.

Pretty sure you have to be rooted to install the play store and core apps required. There are other ways to install apps those. Yalp app is a decent one that will download apps from the google play store. Also you can download from APK mirror and sideload. I have the play store on older fire Tv's it was barely functional at best. I would recommend App starter if you want apps away from amazon.

Install Google Play Services on amazon Fire TV 2 (sloane)

I would like to install Google play services on my Amazon Fire TV 2 rooted with Rbox Boot Menu Twrp.
I have tried following older guides but they appear to not work on newer firmware or are just oudated and/or plain unhelpful
(Important) If possible I would like to use the leanback (Android TV) version of google play for ease of use with a remote.
Please don't link me to older guides, Chances are I've already tried them.

You can install Google apps on your Fire TV using OpenGapps package from https://opengapps.org, select tvstock or pico and flash it to TWRP.

When I used OpenGapps it refused to install insisting that there wasn't enough system storage on the device (I know there is because I installed the apps manually but they didn't work) I was hoping that someone could send a link to the required files for installing Google Play *Leanback Manually

You can't just flash it. You can likely follow some of the other threads that work, but being a locked device (sloan is rooted not unlocked) you risk bricking your device and having to open it and short it (blah blah blah). Really though, what are you looking to do with play services? micro-g is a nice work around, and the play store is garbage for firetv (use fdroid or what ever works for you). What are you looking to do with play services?
There are plenty of threads that give details on how to install, xposed is usually required.

I already have TWRP and Rbox boot menu installed, I already have Xposed. I'm looking to use the google play services because Some apps refuse to work without google play (Functional, a non-functional version won't work) along with that I own Movies and music on Google Play (Yes I know, it's laughable) .The reason I'm wanting to use the leanback versions is because of remote support since I don't have a spare mouse and The mouse enabler is excruciatingly slow and painful to use.
The main reason I asked for a Guide is because most Guides on installing google play are either horribly outdated or strait up misinformation like this(deceptive title) or This (Non-functional)
