Having problems as of lately with video snapchats. When recording, they are super jerky/laggy/choppy. Snapchat wasn't like this before but started recently - any ideas about how to fix? I saw samsung users having similar issues and turning off nuplayer in the developer settings helped but that option isn't available on my ZF.

I hope it is fixed soon! So annoying!!!
I had the same problem after last update. And now my selfie camera isn't working at all. It just shows a black screen. First noticed it in Snapchat but now my regular camera appp is doing the same thing. Any ideas how to fix?
Snapchat has always been choppy on android!! I got BlissPop and the snapchat camera seems to work a little fine now in recording (still a bit slow), but there is a green stripe on the left side of every video that I make now. See the image below :

I hate that green line! Happens with every ROM I flash.
Go in developer options and check disable hw overlays and force gpu rendering. Video still isn't smooth, but far more acceptable.

Does seem slightly better but damn, what's the real deal. I never had noticable issues on my One Plus One. Even starting up Snapchat takes about 10 seconds, it seems to lag soo much more than any other app.

That's not the problem here. Snapchat is smooth as hell but when you start recording, there's delay in movement, it's not even lag.
Is it that the self facing camera is a lower MP ?

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this problem; but on any CM Rom I am having problems with Snapchat in terms of recording time for recording time. For some reason it is not maximized (or doesn't go to the time allotted). The video stops extremely short, and only gives about one second of recording time. Does anyone that uses this know why?

I'm also having this problem, mine just records about 5 seconds and plays back like 3 seconds.
Has anyone found the fix for this?
This is still a problem!
Has anyone found a fix or a workaround for this problem?
Bump!! Running uXylon. Very short Snapchat video recording with both front and rear facing cameras. And i'm not sure if this is could be related but the video recording quality in Instagram is terrible -- very pixilated.
Sorry to bump this thread, but I've found the fix is to go into the settings and change the video quality from standard to low quality. Hope this helps everyone!
I have also found you can set the camera quality back to standard after performing the previous fix and the issue seems to disappear.

All you have to do is change the camera settings to low, and the camera orientation to 180 and it should work! I had this problem as well.

This does not work!!
Had a dream about this... Try going to Camera app and go to video setting, in the recording setting change the video to a lower one. Then go back to Snapchat and see if that works for you. Mine was at 1080p and when I changed it to 720p it started working amazing. Try setting it lower if that doesn't work for you. Mine was only recording for 1 second and would stop, after this I can record the full length allowed now. Let us know if this works for you

Tried this. Did not work.
Also, the in-call sound have kept disappearing, so I can't hear the person I'm talking to.
I'm changing rom to Jedi X today, excited to see if all of my problems will be solved.
Did anyone find a solution? I'm having the same issue and none of the solutions above worked for me.

Broke camera
wow
Thanks
Hi guys, I recently bought a galaxy tab s 10.5 and I'm having issues with video playback in the native YouTube app. Basically every 5-10 seconds, I would get a micro stutter, as if the video is slightly jittery. It's definetely not buffering as the video has loaded well ahead already too.
I am using the samsung stock OS so 4.4.2 and I have installed all the latest official updates for both the OS and the Youtube app.
I have also tried a factory reset of the machine, clearing the cache and updates for the Youtube app and reinstalling. I've also tried forced GPU rendering and turning off hardware overlays in developer mode
Does this indicate there's an issue with my hardware ? It does not happen when i stream videos from my PC over wifi or any locally downloaded videos. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Hmmm, never had this problem with mine when it was on stock. I usually had this problem when I underclocked my cpus and all that or when I am using to many appps.
The only thing I can suggest is use another app (viral popup https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.Mata.YTplayer ) or take it back to be safe.

Thanks, yep the youtube videos would stutter even when i freshly restarted the tablet so nothing else really is running in the background. I have tried the viral popup app except it seems to play at a really low quality setting, ,ie 1080p is not available ?
Is there anything I can test to see if its a possible hardware issue ? I ran the Antutu benchmark and got 37k which seems in line for what's expect from this tablet. Does this help rule anything out ? Thanks.
Check processes, there's probably something in the background.

I dont think so. When you play games does it lag too? Ex real racing 3 etc? Because if it cant play youtube without the micro lag, that may affect other apps. I dont get any lag while I was on stock.
If any other apps lag while playing (not on loading screens) then it may be an issue. I never had any micro lag on mine so it may vary on how you see it. Of course we have custom roms that are way smoother (CM12) but I am unsure if your issue is hardware related or the way you see it. Hope this helps!
I got youtube stuttering too for months on my TabS ST800, I tried every tricks in dev options, nothing ever changed .
But one day i tried the CARDBOARD view in the YouTube app options and then return to normal 2D view.... motion became butter smooth up to 1440p60, for any video! If closing youtube app and restarting it, it is stuttering again, until opening again the cardboard view.
Here is a test video I used to validate stutter-free playback :

Good luck.

You, sir, are awesome!!! I had this problem for the last couple of months on my Tab Pro 10.1, tried everything to eliminate it. Going back to Stock or GraveD rom was slightly better but not really smooth either. I was beginning to lose my sanity switching back and forth between CM11, CM12.1 and stock-rom, trying different developer-options but was not completely satisfied in the end. This cardboard-step is a temporary fix i can definitely live with. But I'm surprised that not many people seem to be effected by this stuttering or they simply don't mind at all. Hope that google is going to fix this shortcoming in the near future but meanwhile...Thanks a ton mister :good:!

I was so happy too I spent a night watching again many videos I love ! I'm glad I could share that little joy !
To answer your question, it is a shame that people are suffering from the belief that "online" videos on computer, tablets or phone *must* somewhat stutter. Well ... even trans-galactic communications in Star Wars/Trek and other sci-fi movies are depicted with stutter and even analog (!) video sync and lines issues (in 2150!!). Stutter and other digital disorders have been imprinted in the modern culture because not much effort was given to understand (and implement) that we human are analog creatures requiring a natural constant flow of sound and light, not a "best effort" variable low frame sample rate due to "unavoidable" system interrupts between storage, cpu, gpu and screen. Remarkably, Apple hardware/software was always close to perfection due to their close collaboration with the computer graphics industry for tv and movies..
It is indeed so much enjoyable when colors, contrast, motion of a clean picture hit the brain which then do not have to interpolate, filter dynamically and overcome an unpleasant stressfull and therefore tiring "motion picture"
So far only Sony with its X1 graphical processor in TVs is IMO able to achieve a minimum of digital artefacts while interpolating and displaying moving pictures. HD was a attempt to increase resolution (but we lost many qualities that the oldest of us enjoyed with CRT tubes). UHD must bring "better pixels" back with constant higher frame rate, higher pixel resolution and higher color resolution and dynamic range.
I hope to say bye bye soon to "flicks" = flickering judderish stuttering color-ish moving pictures.

Hi guys so usualy ma camera works good except in these cases:
1) when i use portrait mode - OMG it takes up to 10 sec pause between shots, sometimes less, but always too long. When I disable automatic lowlight enhancement and watermark it works bit faster, but way to slow.
2) when I take shot in portrait mode, and wish to see it right after taking it, it takes long time to transfer me to gallery.
3) When in video mode and press to start recording it takes between 3 and 6 seconds before camera starts recording.
4) Front facing camera, same laggy thing in portrait mode.
I'm on 9.5.13.0 stable global, my friend has same device and same version of miui and he has same problems.
I hope xiaomi fixes it ASAP.
Is this problem stil present on xiaomi.eu rom or/and miui 1p beta rom?
I am using 9.5.13.0 too, and I never have this problem. There are 1-2 users in other forum also face it, but I've never heard it anymore. If the problem persist, I should see everyone complaint about it in every page. But no one complain about it for the last few days.
Try to use other camera app, such as open camera. Try to see if the problem with the app or the device. You can try to clear data at the default stock camera to see if that helps.
9.5.13.0
No issues here. Try factory reset.
Same exact problem, any fix ?
I actually have the same problem. When I press the record button in video mode, it defniitely takes 3-5 seconds to actually start recording.
You can just click on beauty mode in camera app
And then just turn it off (0)
It might help to solve the problem of camera lag
Same Problem
I Am facing same problem. Portrait mode takes ages to open.
Same issue here
Same issue. It started after last update. Currently on 9.6.3.0
Hello, I'm facing those issues. The video takes ages to start recording. I'm currently at latest stable 9.6.4.0(OEIMIFD) Redmi Note 5 Pro Global.

Same issue, even updated to 10.0.1.0 now
MIUI - 10.0.1.0 (Stable) Hi, I was facing to the same issue. My camera is very slow, lagging, sometimes not responding... I have found here that I should try Open Camera, I have installed it, tried, it works fine, but when I tried my default Camera, suddenly it worked. No lags or something like this now. Do not know why, but it helped.
Lubos
I found this problem also when I turn on Beauty Mode. it occur when open Beauty for a while.
I have exactly the same problem as well. Open camera works fine. I'm on official 10.0.1.0.

Laggy Camera and Performance on Xiaomi FIX
I've just tried this and WORKS like a charm. Go to developer options and turn off Miui optimization. The font and icons will be bigger, but the experience is now great overall. Try it if you have lag issues with the Camera as well.
Cleared camera data after upgrade...
That got rid of my lag in camera
I have the same exact issue with the same MIUI version(10). Open camera also lags a bit..But not as much as stock....I don't want to use Open camera because The Quality and portrait modes aren't as good/available as in stock version. I really don't want to factory reset the phone...Please help...
---------- Post added at 06:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:56 PM ----------
Oh and also,Sometimes,When the lag is beyond 10 seconds,An error pops up saying,"Camera Error. Can't Connect to the Camera." And Camera app force closes it self..
Hi,
YouTube HDR has just stopped working for me. I can still select the resolution + HDR for a compatible video, but the brightness no longer automatically jumps to maximum to cater for the larger dynamic range. It was working right up until yesterday, and doesn't seem to correspond with a YouTube update, either. It's like Android isn't detected the HDR source even though it's selected, and so HDR videos are flat and lifeless.
Has this happened to anybody else?

Press the 3 dots and when you press on resolution you should have a hdr option near the bottom of the list if it's a hdr video

I think it's important to note that although HDR may be selected (like in my case), it may not necessarily work. You'll know if it's worked for sure when the screen brightness automatically sets to maximum. Now, bright parts of the video such as lights will stand out more in contrast to the dark sections, adding overall realism to the picture. I personally think it's great, and can't wait to get an HDR OLED TV.
Hi, can anyone with android 10 (QDLMIXM) please try this?
1) Play a Youtube video in 720 or 1080p (I use the Vanced app but this isn't even youtube specific afaik, just very clear to see!)
2) NOT FULLSCREEN video (fullscreen seems ok)
3) Adjust the volume and observe video.
Does video playback stay smooth while volume overlay is on screen?
Mine is jerky as hell and I want to know if it's worth trying reset etc before i roll back to 9, which sounds a right pain.
I tried disabling HW GUI in overlay options and that makes things slow all the time, so worse.
This seems related to all the slowdown issues i'm having with 10, with most apps. It's awful!
Makes even typing difficult. Phone ruined basically. Same for everyone or just me?

Thank you. Right, seemsi've got something messed up with my phone then, might be worth a full reset unless anyone has better ideas what it could be please?
Shame because this is really only issue i've got with 10 (so far...). Thanks for trying that.
This is quite sad. I have the same issues on YouTube (both official and vanced), and severe lag on Reddit, Messenger and Discord, along with Gboard which has killed my typing experience. Nothing but pain on this phone recently.
