It's on LG8, it doesn't happen to my home wifi, but ANY other WiFi, I have to do this process.
Slide down Notification bar, Toggle WiFi, hit settings, select WiFi to connect (always an open one that needs to be authenticated via website.), says connected, but instantly disconnects and I lose data for ~3-5 seconds and it disconnects the WiFi. Then I have to go back into WiFi and reconnect. The WiFi is just disconnected from always says "saved".
It happens on any LG8 rom I am on, including the 15 toggle mod roms. Not sure if it's my device or what.

I have the problem too. Stock or Blazer or Team Sonic. Happened on 2 phones so it doesn't seem HW related.
*#0011# then menu and wifi and turn off power save. Have to do this every time phone reboots but solves the problem.

What frequency is your WiFi access point or router using? There is a known bug introduced by the LG8 that borked your ability to select which frequency band to use or a hybrid setting, so the phone is stuck in whichever was selected before the LG8 update. So if your phone had been set for the 5 GHz band, then you applied the update, you could no longer connect to 2.4 GHz access points.
Interesting...have not tested but will look at this.
What a silly oversight on sumsungs part.

My router at home that doesn't have this issue is 2.4ghz. I'd assume the same at these WiFi hotspot points since some laptops still only support G freqs.

Hmm. I don't know what to make of that. I actually have never experienced this problem myself, and never changed my frequency setting under the old firmware. Can't even find a link right now to whatever forum post reported this problem in the first place.
I'm on LG8 stock and don't have wifi issues...weird

I have a dual band router and I know that mine will connect to either 2.4G or 5G, although it's usually on 2.4.

The way I understood the alleged bug, the problem only occurs if the user had changed the setting under the old firmware that included the Settings screen to do that. Then the Settings screen went away with the new firmware build.
Is anyone else having this problem? My phone keeps dropping the WiFi signal even if I'm next to the WiFi router. The WiFi indicater shows good signal with all bars lit at all times and I don't get any notifications of signal being low but it still doesn't load/connect to anything. It's very sporadic, but regular.. once singal is lost it won't load anything for a minute or 2 even if the WiFi on the phone is turned off and on. I've tried resetting the router but the problem still persists. All other devices connected to the same WiFi don't have any problems. I'm using the virgin super hub by netgear.

Same over here. I have 3 other devices on the same router and none have a problem. Restarting the router does not solve the problem.

I have a similar issue at my partner's house. When I first got the phone I had no issues connecting to the 5 Ghz wi-fi connection, but lately I have issues with the 5Ghz, but connecting to his 2.4 Ghz connection works well. His device and other household devices work well on the 5 Ghz connection. It is annoying, but since the 2.4 Ghz seems quick, I am not going to worry too much about it right now. Hope there is a solution though.
I remember my z1 having similar problems...it was fixed by changing the security mode I think...wep..wpk...or something...just fool around with it...no harm in trying
I have a NetGear accesspoint that the G3 refuses to connect to regardless of the G or A bands. So frustrating.
Stard having this issue this weekend, thought it was the router location and I repositioned and still no help.
Hoping and update fixes it
I too have experienced issues with WiFi during my last 4 days of ownership. Perfect WiFi signal (I was sitting within feet of the router) yet no Internet connection. Cycling WiFi off and on fixed the issue. This occurred on two different networks using different hardware. Both were using WPA2-PSK authentication. No other devices on the network experienced any issues.
Go to WiFi ans hit the top right button and go to advanced setting than put yes on keep WiFi on when screen is off

That option was already enabled on my device. I never enabled it, so it must have been on by default.
Also, when this happened, my G3 still had a valid IP address
Have same problem since day 1. Cycling between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz and vice versa seems to fix for the short term.
But seems to happen on a daily basis.....!
I have the issue has well. In fact, mine will sit at obtaining IP address.
i have same isuee
i have same isuue here with my lg g3 16 gigs model
wifi sigal drops all the time i did factory seetings and did not help
plzzzz help as am start to hate my device
add static ip address to resolve the issue
I added static ip address and it was able to connect to the wifi but it will
be the same problem when you connect to another wifi at a different location.
Do not change network prefix length/DNS1/DNS2. Keep these the same.
You could use this as temporary fix at home atleast and connect to wifi.
Disconnect completely from your WiFi, switch off WiFi on the phone, turn back on and go to advanced settings, uncheck the Google auto scan thing, then connect back to your WiFi.

still the same

Still have same problem
It worked on mine. Much more stable.
I am also experiencing this and it is really annoying. Toggling WiFi off and back on always fixes it, but that is not an actual solution because the problem happens so frequently.
I have tried:
Disabling Sprint connection optimizer
'Keep WiFi on when screen is off' is enabled
'Allow WiFi scanning' is disabled
'WiFi signal weak' is disabled (set so that it does not disconnect from WiFi when signal is weak)
'Battery saving for WiFi' is disabled
Using a static IP address
Factory Reset
Forget network
I still have had no luck. Does anybody else have any suggestions? I have about a dozen devices on my network and they play nicely; this is the only device giving me trouble. I am starting to wonder if it is time to RMA?
EDIT: It doesn't seem to happen when I connect to the WiFi at my work. Hopefully flashing a newer build of DD-WRT will remedy this. I love this phone except for that one issue; unfortunately though, this issue would be pretty hard to live with....
Same thing here. Before G3 I had G2 and Flex, both had the same wifi problem. Funny thing is that some $150 Chinese almost noname generic phones never have this problem on my home wifi. It's exclusive to LG.
Same Problem here. I am having a Nexus 5 sitting next to it. No problem with the N5 but constantly interruptions with the G3. This phone is starting to annoy the hell out of me.
I have the VZW G3 rooted, have no issues with WiFi on either antenna using an Asus dual band router.
I did have issues with a dlink, but it had issues with all phones not just the g3 so I replaced it.
Recently purchased a 2013 Wifi only N7. Upgraded to Lollipop and continue to have intermittent WiFi issues, where WiFi will show connected in the notification area with an exclamation mark. This usually occurs after I docked the device and been away from it overnight or for several hours. The only way to get back on the network is by toggling WiFi off/on. There is another WiFi network in my home, but it is set to a different channel and we are far away from the neighbors. The AP is nearby with clear line of site, and other devices (e.g. HTC One, iPad) have no issues.
I have read that this is a general problem with Android 5.
I would check your Wi-Fi settings in settings, Wi-Fi, three dots, advanced.

There's not much to change in there. Since the nearest network is only 2.4ghz, I changed from automatic to 2.4ghz only. Not sure that's going to fix this.
What about your settings for WiFi being on or off during sleep? Is it set to always on?

Yes, it's set to the default, which is "always on." Should I change this?
Wifi in H818N disconnects when screen is off, which is very irritating.
The option to keep wifi on when screen is off is set to Yes in the advanced wifi settings.
Anybody else facing this issue?
I have the same problem with my H-815, but it doesn't disconnecs right away, it disconnects after 10 min or so, and that doesn't happen always.
Yeah, it intermittently disconnects, though connects back automatically when screen is turned on. Its weird and irritating.
Same problem here
As well as my G4 will get up to 100% CPU usage for a while, every time the Wifi/ Data is connected.
Try settings, wifi, 3 dots menu, advanced wifi, keep wifi on during sleep, on
That is already on as written in the first post.

I soft bricked my H815P about a week ago and when I reinstalled the appropriate KDZ, I found that Wifi keeps turning off, ¿maybe a solution in the build.prop file?

I have the same problem using 5G router. I'll try using 2.4 network.
Update: No more problem using 2.4ghz, i think it's a bug only when connected at 5ghz wlan.
Same...on 6.0 any solution?
Same here. I´m on Android 6.0 MM with my LG G4 H815.
edit: i have no 5ghz network...
Doze may be causing the issue
I have the same problem, but only on my home network. Not at work/school though.
Try going to battery settings > usage > battery optimizations and disabling/ignoring Wi-Fi. I will be testing this out when I get home.
Update: seems to have fixed the issue. Wifi is on already when I wake the screen, even after a while of sleep.
This sttings solved my problem, thank you.
here is my fix for the wifi disconect issue :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g4/help/wifi-disconnect-fix-disconnect-ipv6-t3558895
I have a question. I have "keep WIFI on during sleep" option set to "Never".
When I wake up my phone from sleep after 30 minutes or more of not using it, the wifi does not reactivate itself (it's off, no icon in statusbar), but when I go to settings, it says that Wifi is enabled. Just like in the picture below...
I want to know if this is normal or what? Happens to me on both stock and custom rom.
EDIT :
I fixed this by putting my Wi-Fi frequency band from 2.4 GHz to "Automatic" in advanced wifi settings. Htc and google really need to fix their ****!
I also disabled ipv6 in my router settings, not sure if that helped
Sadly for you, it works as expected for me. I let my phone sit for about 40 mins hoping I wouldn't get a text. Picked it up and the Wi-Fi turned on and connected right away.
Stock Rom (1.91.617.1)
Root
Ex kernel .20 (stock except min perf 0% & GPU medium)
ivicask v17 performance

This is just plain weird for me. Not a real problem, but strange, maybe has something to do with my wifi connection (router).
Thanks for the reply!

I have had the WiFi Frequency Band set to Automatic since I got the HTC 10. I came looking for this topic because of what mine does. When I wake up the screen, there is often a message on the screen "wifi has disconnected", and it will show connected to mobile data in the notification bar. It usually will reconnect to WiFi within a few seconds. But it is annoying, so I am looking for a fix, if there is one. I turned on the setting to keep it on WiFi during sleep a couple days ago, but it didn't change this behavior.
From what I am reading here, this sounds like it is common to the HTC 10 regardless of that setting. I am therefore thinking perhaps the "wifi has disconnected" message is actually left over and still on the display from when I turned the display off? But what I don't understand is that I get notifications such as incoming email and hangouts messages while the display is still sleeping. Unless those are coming via the mobile data connection. Perhaps I should try turning off mobile data and leaving wifi on to test if it still does that, but obviously leaving the mobile radio connection off is not desireable, even if that did help. Does the HTC 10 silently always switch to a mobile connection and turn off wifi whenever the screen is off, meaning that keep wifi on setting is flawed?

Thank you for replying. The only 3 boxes I have checked in WiFi > Advanced are as follows:
WiFi Notification
Show Wi-Fi pop-up
Hotspot sign-in
All the other check boxes are blank.
So I have similar problem. When I leave the house it switches to mobile network just fine. When I come back home it doesn't auto connect until I turn on the screen. My advanced wifi settings are below with basically nothing checked.
I agree this is a serious problem and for me I have no mobile network at home and depend on wifi and hangouts for voice calls.
Just curious what firmware is everyone on? Mine is 1.91.617.1.
This thread discusses it quite a bit, mentioning different settings changes to try.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/help/wifi-issues-htc-10-weak-signal-fail-t3368165
I tried some of these changes, and things seemed better today for awhile, until I found out my phone actually wasn't getting the internet over the solid WiFi connection to my network. :/ I had to undo all the changes so I could get back online with it.
