I figure we should start a thread of all the creative things that you guys are doing with your NFC tags. You should list what you are using them for and what apps you are using to make them work.
A simple bedtime tag...sets volume to 40%, turns on Night Clock app.

I made a tag for use with Tasker profile to punch in and out of work, then it adds it to my google calendar when I punch out. Better than my previous solution: post-its.

this is still a WIP but i wanted to make a tag where it would turn on the app for the griffin wifi to ir bridge and send a command to turn on my tv,amp, xbox all over ir
should be easy im just waiting for the griffin bridge and the nfc tag...
Wish I could use NFC to unlock my door or pay my subway fare.
there are ir auto door locks where you can open your door with a ir remote like a car remote... so what you do is you get a wifi to ir griffin box and you setup a nfc tag outside of your house and there you go lol...
I've used NFC Tag Launcher to turn the POS Verizon car dock into something better: Launch Car Home, disable wifi, enable bluetooth, adjust ring, notification, and media volumes, and then to play a clip of Jim Gaffigan screaming "BAAAACOOOON!" to let me know everything has been set. I've still got a handful tags, so I'm looking forward to finding something new with them.

Is there a way to have a tag be a toggle? I'd like my nightstand tag to put my phone into night mode when i tap it at night, and then put it back into day mode when I tap it a second time in the morning.

In a german forum i read about someone who out sticked a NFC-tag into his cookbook directly next to the recipe for muffins: The NFC-tag started a timer counting down the oven-time, so he didn't had to watch for the mussins in the oven ^^
What tags is everyone buying? And from where?
Car Home?

You have the Google 'Car Home' app working? It won't load from the market for me. Are you using an apk or a different app altogether?

Tagstand. Got them in two days too. Any of the tags work. Get them formatted if not on 4.0.3 though.

I am using the Gummynex ROM currently and the car dock app is built in. You might give it a shot, its a great ROM.

Just been out for a run for the first time with my SW3.
I had Runtastic Pro running on my phone, however on my watch I could get displayed was the Time, Distance and Calories.
Does anyone else that uses Android Wear and Runtastic know how to get it to display your pace?

Same issue here. I hope a new version with support for standalone GPS will be available soon with possibility to choose the indicator we want.

Ah so its not just me then! Thought I may have missed a setting somewhere!
Must admit I was pretty stunned that it dosent show pace, especially as that app is running on the phone with that information available!
Received an email back from Runtatsic - Basically they will forward the suggestions onto the development team.
Think I will purchase SyncMyTracks from the Play Store and start using RunKeeper. Their development seems to be a lot quicker when it comes to the Sony SmartWatch 3. Had the beta app for less then a week and its already seen numerous updates.
I have been a heavy ENDOMONDO user since 2012. I really like the software and how it works. That being said, I will be migrating over to Runkeeper because Endomondo is not moving in the direction of wearable stand alone technology.
too sad, I was also using Endomondo for running, biking and other activities. Now i will move to other software also.
As a premium (paying) subscriber, I feel let down. To say they have no plans to support stand alone Android Wear when clearly this is the direction that all devices (and software) will be moving is very disappointing.
They'll come around, remember when Sony said it wouldn't adopt android wear? How long did that last? Lol

Get Ghostracer beta...works great for strava and is the best app for SW3 running I have found. Runkeeper works, but the display features and customizability of ghostracer is better

I believe the OP is talking about is using the smartwatch without the phone present.

Yes, works great without phone. Go to the android original development thread of XDA under SW3 for details
Just waiting for my Ghosttracer beta download. I'll report back soon!
Thank you for the tip!
Have a chance to test Ghosttracer yet?
Not yet. Next week.

I am so deep in Endomondo ecosystem I won't leave, at least yet. AW has only been out a very brief time, give it a little. I too was let down they dont do any standalone gps functions yet but it will come. Once everyone else goes standalone they will have no choice. Competition is a good thing kids.
I'm also hoping that Endomondo change their stance on this or I might also be saying goodbye. Wearables are the future, how can they neglect that?? Seems a little bizarre.
I've switch to also using Ghostracer's beta app. Wear stand-alone support (GPS, Bluetooth HR Monitors) and runs great. Developer seems to be very active and receptive to feedback, too. Uploads runs to Strava which you can sync with Runkeeper/Endomondo/MyFitnessPal/Garmin etc.
I have not had any issues. oddly enough the GPS in my SW3 actually is better at getting reception than my Note 4 (which has been having a notorious amount of issues).
There is an Android Wear support in free version of Endomundo Sports Tracker, can not understand why, but I have to have both versions of this app to use it on my Sony SW3
I love Runkeeper, just not for AW right now. I've been on 6 runs with Runkeeper using my Sony SW3. Twice, as I got back into range of my phone, data was lost. Like the time duration was there but the route data was missing. Two other times there were dual entries. One with the correct info and one with 0's. When I tried to delete the 0 entries, it deleted both. So I lost 2 recorded runs.
I'm going to try Google's My Tracks and Ghostracer. Hopefully Runkeeper fixes these issues.
Endomondo has just updated its app. Standalone Mode for the SW3 added!!!!!!
Haven't found any article about it (so no link), but i recived the update this morning

Just started endomondo at my watch. For me the font size there is too small. Even on ghostracer I set the font to 70. That is perfect for me.

I only tried starting it, but I got a GPS lock in less than 15 seconds. Haven't had the time to go on a run with it, though. Maybe tomorrow will be kinder.
I have a Sony Smartwatch 3 (SW3)
And i would like to use an app on my Phone similar to the 2 mentioned below.
Apparently i cant post links yet....
On google play : "Scoreboard with Timer"
or
On Google Play : "Keepscore"
What i need is a countdown timer that i can set to any time i prefer (minutes).
And a scorecounter for 2 teams (home and away), where i can change score with a + and - button.
A nice to have would be if the Smartwatch vibrates 1 minute before time is up.
Can anyone help me with that ?
Maybe you could use Score Keeper for Android Wear in conjunction with the Android Wear Timer app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blackcj.scorekeeper

Thats a nice start, now if only player no.3 was a timer it would have been almost perfect.
But its a little help already :good:
Quick question about potential custom OSes that maybe pop out for this smart watch.
What features will you be looking for in any custom OS?
From my end that would be disabling heart rate sensor.
I dunno. I got the pixel watch via getting a p7p. Until now I've been using my original Huawei watch and fossil sport.
I struggle to understand what people want in a smartwatch. I use it for exercising, finding my phone, checking notifications, and pretty much that. The fact is that a 7 year old watch can perform the same tasks as my news one the only upgrades I'm directly concerned about is battery life. I live in Japan so I don't even have ECG functionality which is a bummer.
A custom os that disables analytic features such as step count and heart rate in favor of battery life could be very useful because I only care about those metrics when strength training(and not even the step count)

Alexa is what I need (smart home stuff mostly, Google assistant is not an option).
It's running fine so far, but having it properly integrated (eg: making use of the button) would be so much better.
