Hey guys, I just want to reflash my Touch back to factory form, and was wondering if I can get any help. The reason:
Went to a conference today, phone stopped receiving signal in conference room. I changed it to airplane mode, to stop from wasting battery searching for a signal. After leaving, it just hasn't received a signal again, and now refuses to boot up into windows, and the few times it does (after about 15 - 20 minutes), it won't allow me to do anything.
My question: Is there any way I can flash this? I'm having trouble, as I can't get to Activesync to run the factory-HTC-flasher.
ANY help appreciated, as I need to get it going again for work!
PS: I apologize for posting in 2 sections, but I'm not sure where this would belong, and am in dire need of getting this flashed so I can load my backup to it, ASAP.

have you tried to hard reset?
try holding the green call and the red end call keys while soft resetting your device, then follow on-screen instructions and see if that solves your problems

Don't bother hard-reseting if you have a custom rom,(no offense to raybond)
but there's a chance it can still have the problem or the problem can reoccur after you hard reset with the same rom.
If I were you, I would put my phone in bootloader mode
(bootloader mode = pressing power+camera+stylus reset button at the same time)
It should go to a 3 color screen,
then plug your phone into the usb cable to your computer,
on the bottom of the screen it should switch to usb instead of serial
(takes like 30secs to a minute.)
then just click the standard RomUpdateUtility.exe program for the stock rom,
and it'll start flashing your phone just like normal.
You should always flash from bootloader mode instead of activesync,
it's a lot safer/better.
Thanks guys! I just came across the hard reset on my way to check this, and ran it, and it seems to have worked. I don't have a custom ROM (never bothered to go that far, got most of the stuff I needed working from the new HTC released 6.1 ROM when it came out, not really new anymore).
EDIT: Hard reset worked, now just loading my backup.
Another question, is there anyway to save backups in such a way your text messages/call logs are saved?

if you use a program called PIMbackup, you can backup just your contacts and messages and emails. this is better if you're installing a custom ROM because if you go to a custom ROM then load a full backup it'll undo a lot of registry edits that are made and could mess with your performance a little bit.
glad the hard reset worked for you, just and FYI i would recommend flashing a custom ROM, it'll really help you get more out of your device performance-wise.
So yea...as much as I know my desire's motherboard needs replacement...And I dont have warranty. Is there any way to fix it without changeing whole motherboard?
You provide us no information at all about what's wrong with your device.
What do you want to do with it? Solder stuff?
There is a 100% chance that you will destroy your phone when you open it and mess around with the subminiaturized highly vulnerable microelectronics.
There's something called insurance.

Maybe the forum can help you
For this we need some more information:
1. Do you have the original HTC Sense ROM?
1a. If YES skip the points 2 - 5 and continue with 6.
2. If NO: which ROM you have installed?
3. Did you change the Radio ROM?
4. Have you unrooted your phone?
5. Are you S-Off / changed Hboot (partition table)
6. Do you use the original SD-Card?
7. Since your reboots started: have you installed any software just before?
8. Which program(s)
If you can answer these question we can help you - I don't think (hope) your motherboard is dead. Often there are simple solution to fix a "dead" phone

1. I had,but it used to turn off and get into boot loop while playing games like GRave defense. Never happened while playing shoot bubbules.
2. DevNull. First was dev, then leedroid, now back to dev. I keep him in sd card in case my phone wont turn on. Sometimes it restarts in middle of movie so I left him 2 times until morning and it first time turned on and second time didnt, again started to restart. Same with reflashing roms. Sometimes helps, sometimes no.
3.Yes.Radio_32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08
4.Yes. I had hboot 0.83 or 0.93 and I used AlpharevX and then unrevoked.
5.Yes.
6.I dont know, I got it when I bought phone. (it was used when I bought it.)
7.Hm......Well...I dont think so...when I bought it, I turned phone off and after um... about 1 h I tryed turn it on and it started restarting. Then after some time turened on again.
And btw now it sometimes starts restarting not even hot.
So your problem is random reboots? or does your device not start up at all?
If the problem is just a bootloop, you won't need to replace the motherboard. You just need to flash the correct and working software.

But that used to happened with original rom too...un...one guy said that bootloop is because motherboard is faulty. Now I just watched whole movie. And it was ok. But I tink if I would use market or opera it would restart. But im not sure. Sometimes it dosnt restart. And if I would flash all correct software my phone would turn on quicker?
oh god...
Don't answer my question with the word but. It's NOT an answer. So lets take the question again and this time do only reply to the question:
Is you problem random reboots or a bootloop?
Those 2 are NOT the same, while random reboots is exactly what the name implies a bootloop implies that your phone is unable to enter the android system due to a failure on startup.
So please in order for anyone to help you, you must make it very clear what you problem is, as otherwise we cannot tell you what to do.
Everything you have told up until now is that you have some problem(you use bootloop and random reboot equally) and that you might or might not know that it happens when running some specific apps.

Sorry. By bootloop I mean my phone restarts and then just starts viberating and just stays in white htc logo screen. But after some time I can enter android system. This happanes when I do something with my phone.
If I may throw 2 cents in...
I do not know if this will be the fix for you, but if I had this issue, the first thing I would do is boot the phone up and wait until it loads properly (I gather it loads sometimes but not others, which is why you watched a movie??), make a Titanium backup of everything, then Nandroid backup.
Next, do full wipe
1 Factory reset
2 (in Mounts/Storage) Format Dalvic/data/sdext/system
3 (in Advanced) Wipe Dalvic cache.
Now reflash your ROM and restore Titanium.
Might all sound like basic stuff, but any time I have had issues with bootloops or FCs or whatever, it's usually because I didn't wipe properly. Now I always wipe everything with new ROMs and never have an issue.
If this doesn't help, you may commence panicking I'M KIDDING!!

Hello LordRyve,
follow the great description from 777ace , these are the steps which should bring your Desire back.
I only would not restore all the programs via Titanium Backup after your fresh install. The reason is that there might be a "bad" program you have installed before. Just restore a program, check if system runs without problems, then restore the next and so on.
But NEVER restore system apps via Titanium backup - this mostly WILL mess up your system!
And before flashing devnull ROM download it again and check the MD5SUM, just to be sure your downloaded ROM is ok.
Good luck

Well now it runs rll great And I didn't do anything different. It restarted while charging but at about 98% it was cold again and I succesufly turened it on with first try. If something will go wrong i'll try do 777ace guide. Now I would like to ask...what to do that files would get transefered from my pc to sd faster? Because when my battery is not full it starts charging and overheating and restarting. Also isnt overheating and restarting caused by bad motherboard?

Sure you can.
With a bad app I ment that an app can mess up your system (not a corrupted program file).
For example task killers I would name "bad" apps as they are useless in current ROM and maybe could things worse.
A very important tip at the end: perform Nandroid backups on a regular basis - so you can allways come back to a working system.

Do you use Windows or Linux? For me file transfer on Linux is much slower compared to Windows. Sometimes it helps to switch to another USB port on your PC.
Does your Desire also restarts when you use the power supply (charging not via PC)?

What should I do to get rid of that?

And a question - does hard reset do the same as if I flash totally new official firmware? I meen, does HR leaves something after it or only flashing new firmaware can give my phone a totally clean (like just out-of-the-box) memory?
hm, when I did hard reset, no app left, but still seeing that bug...
I'm using it with official ROM too, but i want to know - does flashing new ROM means the same as hard resetting, or HR is a little bit "softer"?
If someone has experience in flashing phones and spotting this bug, can you try to re-flash?
I've got bad news. I flashed the phone by myself and that bug still is on. That means only one - we should go to the service centre and they'll have to deal with it
never experienced that bug. I have 1.35.707.3 CL48651 release keys.
Very strange, mine will hang for a second on the odd occasion but it's never that bad. Only bug I've noticed is sometimes when I power it off the 4 buttons at the very bottom stay lit, again that only happens every now and again.
Does that mean it's HTC sense's problem? Some people on 4pda(russian smartphone forum) say that their phones have been repaired in service centre by replacing touchscreen. I can't understand - is this hardware or software problem?
I have the same problem. Upon unlocking, right side of screen is not working for a couple of seconds.
Tried to hard reset, and it didn't help. Also tried diferent launcher, and problem remained.
Maybe bug in htc firmware. Has anyone tried flashing it with cyanogenmod of something like that?

If you mean factory reset with hard reset, only /data and /cache are wiped.
Flashing a new ROM does wipe /system and replace the content with the new one, nothing happens with /data or /cache here, except within the ROM zip is a cleanup script.
Within /data is all userdata stored, settings, apps and so on (standart behavior, with links2sd its different), within cache is like the name says cached data of the system that shortens the system boot time and stuff like this. In most common you have to clear this before using a different ROM cause it could cause faults, but if the whole base of the rom is different you also have to wipe /data cause this can within this case also cause problems.
Sry, for the off-topic.

Different launchers are only apps, they can't solve this problem when it's related to the lockscreen app, maybe switching to another lockscreen version can solve the problem.
same here, after unlocking left side of screen doesnt work until waiting a few seconds or touching other side
Diferent lock application didn't solve problem either. I tried that. I am using ripple lock now.

Could be that it's kernel related. Maybe it's just a big lag, because the CPU governor needs some time to switch the CPU speed after idle.

This is really doing my head in, its the only thing really ruining my enjoyment of the phone now that I have S-off!
I wiped cache, dalvik cache, sd card everything through clockwork before using the RUU flasher, it has to be software, is there a newer version of the RUU flasher since the 1.30.401.0?
Just a suggestion but temporary remove all your widgets to see if that is what might be causing it.
I found some widgets try to refresh once the phone is woke up even before the screen is unlocked. So I uninstalled any that I did not use.
Also you might try these setting in your build.prop file:
Code:
view.touch_slop = 12
view.minimum_fling_velocity = 30
gsm.proximity.enable=false
debug.sf.hw=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=80
I attempted my first rooting and install of darthstalkers rom last night. the step by step instructions were well laid out, and the process was pretty smooth. however after completing the rom install, and began getting various errors such as 'gallery not responding', 'omacp has stopped working',etc. over a dozen different errors in total. kies wouldnt connect to restore my settings, etc.
i decided to flash back to stock, and followed the instructions perfectly, which again were very easy. kies connected instantly on stock, and everything seemed ok. however im still getting the same errors as i was with the darthstalker rom. now i bought my s3 outright (its not part of any package), so i have no warranty issues, however my phone is completely hosed now. i cant send texts, cant view email, nothing. i'm honestly regretting ever doing this.
any help/tips/suggestions so that i can go back to the way i was? ive tried everything that my googlefu has led me to, and nothing has worked.

I did it last night, but in my tired confusion, i may have fudged it up. going to do it now and ill update in a few minutes. Thanks for the help thus far.
when flashing to stock through Odin you retain the same cache and therefore you can have some issues of force closes..which is why a factory reset is always best....and mandatory when going from 4.1.1 to 4.0.4
That's a very stable ROM and I'm surprised at the issues you had. I have a feeling it wasn't the ROM or anything you did persay but bad flashes happen which it why most of us have a nandroid to fall back on just in case. Sometimes a re-flash does the trick to fix problems.

Ok well i wiped cache/data in recovery mode and all seemed ok (not sure if its worth noting, but the recovery menu/screen was totally different from last night - the one last night was touch screen with ++++ before and after each menu choice, and the one today has me using the volume keys to move and power to select).
i went to do kies restore and it went smoothly, but is now sitting on the last option, 'restoring call log', for quite a while. So i guess ill update this again when kies finishes up.

Settings, not much can be done about that. It's needed to wipe them when going to a custom ROM (same goes when updating to avoid issues).
Titanium Backup can save your Wifi, apps and apps data (requires root). Also can save your texts and call logs with it.

Sounds like you booted into stock recovery which is what you wanted.
I used to think it was a pain restoring settings all the time but after 100 or so ROM's over various devices its takes 10-15 minutes to do that and install my apps form the market (I only use maybe 20 or so and maybe are one I have apk for already.
Everyone's first time is a bit awkward and messy... gets fun after you do it enough
So its possible it was just a bad install? This isnt a very technical or tough thing to do, but becomes a serious pain int he ass when things go awry. Would love to have the darthstalkers setup, though. I just hate to do it and have it all be FUBAR'd again.

Keep in mind that flashing a custom ROM also means flashing the updates (as it can always get better and there are bugs to fix), meaning that you will have to factory reset every time (which resets your settings, cleans your apps and such). So it's something you kinda have to get used to when flashing.
That's also why I suggested Titanium Backup, it saves a lot of time when it comes to apps, wifi, call logs, texts, etc. You'll still have to go through your settings, emails and accounts though.
If you wanna go ahead and give Darthstarkers another try, re-download it and make sure you follow their full instructions.

its true. the first time around is always a little bumpy. as long as you are doing things correctly and installing the correct files, things will only go smoother with time.
this is just my preference, but once i've transcended stock (to aosp), i dont mess around with kies anymore. i know you had your things backed up via that route but ask around and you'll see, there are a lot of useful apps out there that can backup and seamlessly restore everything you want after flashing.
dont give up. everyone deserves the performance and style they want on their device. next time you're ready, let us know. between myself, hednik and a few others, we can get you the best way to do this right here in one thread versus 20 different sites/threads/opinions. cheers
I didnt think about the future and rom updates, etc. I think ill pass for now, my time for this is limited. I'd love to have something like darthstalker working, but i cannot afford to spend the time if it all goes to hell again.I do sincerely appreciate the help, and if theres some way i can say thanks other than clicking thanks for each of you (already done), please let me know.

It's basically the way to show your gratitude, you've said thanks and pressed the button, can't ask for much more :highfive: Especially from a new user.
I hope you find the time to enjoy one of those custom ROM at some point and we'll be here if you need help again. Good luck!
my galaxy has be acting up out of the blue, when i try to use my phone this phone willl just start doing things on its own. for example on the lockscreen you know how you can tell you touched the screen when the sunburst flare pops up, i let this phone sit for a good 20 secs on the lockscreen and then randomly the phone started "tapping" itself, it make it hard to use, it wlll randomly touch places by itself, open apps, ect. now do i have to buy a or is there any fix/troubleshooting i can do?
Try to factory reset from recovery
Edit: however you will lose all your data if it's not backed up
