Well I wont say that my phone is not working at all but...
It all started when I encounter a weird bug which when I was copying some videos from my PC to phone via USB...
And all of the sudden my phone restarted (I guess something bad came up?), and after it restart, I didnt even had a chance to unlock the lock screen or anything and then it shows Shutting Down after restarting
I was on Euphoria OS in case it can help..
So I tried to restore from a backup via TWRP, even after restoring I was getting Android is Shutting Down thingy after I switch on my phone...
And then this is where I messed up big time...
I went into fastboot mode thinking that it was a problem with TWRP so I flashed with "fastboot flash recovery twrp.img" and I just notice that I flashed a faulty TWRP.img which I forgotten to delete last time and now I ended up with...
1) When I try to switch it on it will just show 3 red blinking lights.
2) I can detect it in Flashtools but it wrote there that a device with USB debugging off is connected.
3) I can do Power + Vol up when plugged into a wall plug but it doesnt seems to be charging ( charged for more then 3hours and sony logo doesnt show's up )
4) I can't enter fastboot mode and flash mode for Flashtool
So any tips to help me out before I actually send the phone to a service center?
Thanks

You've probably tried this but I take it repairing with SEUS doesn't work since you can't enter flash mode?
[EDIT] If you're bootloader is unlocked you'd have to lock it, but if FlashTool doesn't recognise it's in flashmode then I'm not sure how you'd relock the bootloader...

I don't know much, but we seems to me that flashing the wrong recovery wouldn't break fastboot. I guess you would know, but from my experience, you have to do extreme stuff to really hard brick these phones. There's usually a way out. I might wonder if you had a hardware breakdown, when you had that issue with the video, but you said you used fastboot after that and it worked. Have you made sure it has a charge? Do you get any output from 'fastboot devices' when you connect while holding vol up? Sorry I don't have anything concrete, but I'm pretty sure a bad IMG flash wouldn't brick the phone. Possibly there was a coincidental hw failure though...

BTW, since you have rooted and unlocked bl, you'll probably pay more than the price of a new phone to repair through service center, (I would guess)...

Hmm... sadly I tried both by checking "adb devices" and also "fastboot devices" when I connect them to my laptop with holding the vol up button too, nope fastboot doesnt detect it and typing "adb devices" doesnt help too.
But weirdly if i press the red button near the SIM card area / doing vol up + power my phone will vibrate for 3 times and then it's like usual showing red led then blink and dead. (nope no Sony logo yet...)
Well since I dont have warranty left for this phone... I might as well get a new one instead of repairing if it's more expensive, and yup I do know that it's pretty hard to hard brick a phone like these since I been through so many softbricks before since my xperia x8, zenfone 5 and now this z1c.
Oh well, time to try finding the tools to pry it up and then reconnect the power adapter for battery in there

Opening the back cover is very easy. Just direct a hair dryer on the back (on the edges of the back) for a minute or so (move the hair dryer around the edges DO NOT leave it directed in one place) then slip a guitar pict or debit card in the edges and slide it down the edges.
I used a toy hair dryer and it worked.
The problem is replacing the adhesive which you'll have to take off.
Be careful not to melt your phone.

I tried it and it does open up, sadly reconnecting the battery doesn't seems to help, I think I will have to try the test point hard brick solution for now.
Thanks for the solution of opening the back cover, it did help me out there

Alright thanks for the link, I will try my luck there
Edit : Fixed by compressing using winrar instead of windows 10 right click -> sent to -> compress lol
Edit 2 : Getting "bad file, will not flash error" I guess time to redownload the firmware and do everything all over by using winrar to extract etc... Oh well there's still hope!

Please help me guys... i am trying my zenfone ze550ml alive again...
So i have messed up things and firstly lost my rom, then covery, then bootloader...
the device isnt power on, no vibration, no led, sometimes it is detected in xFSTK...
Tried download all the three files wiz dnx_fwr, ifwi, droidboot_dnx.img.POS_sign
so its all ok until firmware download it says succeed but something goes wrong then in continuing to os, phone tries to connect 20 times and failure comes...
Please help me guys you guys are the last options after researching lots of threads, videos
Press power and vol- press download in xFSTK - then ;
Try hitting download again in xFSTK at the same time just as you feel two buzzes release power too !
Remember that above and check my video in my signature below re settings needing to be changed in Xfstk too !
Phone is not vibrating... & yeah i followed your tutorial video but i am stuck at contuning to os
Thanks in advance...I flashed mm rom but in settings it showed 5.0... so my droidboot_dnx.img.POS_sign, dnx_fwr, ifwi files are correct as described in this guide? anyone have 6.0 droidboot_dnx.img.POS_sign, dnx_fwr, ifwi files?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/general/guide-brick-soft-hard-bricked-zenfone-2-t3284256
press vol + and power until it vibrates release .
If phone is not vibrating you may need to recharge a while .
Those files will unbrick 5 or 6
you may need to detach battery for a second too !
you are close , also a good tip -- after a charge up -- attempt again , if fail - leave attached to pc and xFSTK open -- try again after approx 20 mins-- you have changed settings in box ending in [Bla bal +CRC] in xFSTK too
lets hope for the good... thanks for help:good:
Now i am facing annoying windriver error in xFSTK... my device isnt vibrate so the isoc drivers are installed correctly? because it says the device must be power cycled, power off, blah blah blah, during installation? When i click on finish it detects as a a moorefield device (ze550ml)? so whats wrong @timbernot
Now , you might need a new motherboard
send it to ASUS , when you get it back.
Leave it alone

But you could try what's already been mentioned
Re detaching power cable on motherboard but am unsure of your abilities
due to what you have already done
Hello and sorry for my bad English.
Congratulations for the good forum, it very much helped me with the info ... thanks
Brought me Phone with broken glass Lenovo p1, p1a42, Euro version think. I do not know what they doing with the phone, think it was OTA update issue....
I found many problems in this phone, when it is ON the display works, touch too, but I got Message:Encryption Unsuccessful ... reset does not work, I try in stock recovery remove the wipe, data, there is no success. After that another mode (vol-, power) there again did wipe, nothing again. Phone power on and again got Message: Encryption Unsuccessful ... I know with an Closed-eyes what to do with p780, but P1 is new to me.
Trying to install the new firmware from sdcard as changing his name as Update.zip firmware, but no success ... got error message, I think he did not see the sd card, only internal, But I do not see it too ...cannot put on it update.zip
Another problem is that the PC does not see the phone ... I have 3 pc, 2 win7x64, and 1 xp on it, no one saw the phone, and there is no sound for the new device. I have all the drivers for Qualcom, but the device does not respond. Device manager don't show me phone or new port. So i got power up from Pc or charger, but nothing else. Got logo from Lenovo at start, then almost start to android and again got this Encryption Unsuccessful...bla-bla.
My question: if I have problems with recovery ... can i put on the SD card, like update.zip file and install? Like the old p780? It is possible to get problem from broken main board or chip? Or just i don't get proper drivers? Thanks for help
Have you read through this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/vibe-p1/development/qpst-flashing-vibeui-3-1-s272-rom-t3386650
Also try a different Usb cable ,the driver I used is the second one mentioned.

Hi, merry Christmas jAww, just 2 answers... I know how to update drivers and reinstall android roms... For now, nothing helped. No luck with many cable, pc, drivers. No luck with 15 sec vol + , Nothing with Test mode in Windows 7 , phone is not recognize, just when i plug in, got vibration and battery stats % charges.
Trying some update.zip from stock recovery , nothing... fail at 24% or best was 49% and loop at this percents. Why i cant go further? Some is blocked or ... ?
When i go to recovery VOL - there is SD UPDATE, but when i try from there to update, got this message "dev: external sdcard data encypted" If im not wrong , this is internal sd storage, not external , right? This message is show some problem in phone or is normal alert? Maybe soon i will send it to some shop service... Thanks.

Hi everyone,
Yesterday, as usual, i plugged my zenphone to its charger, but it almost instantly turned off and won't restart since.
The phone keeps vibrating every minute as if it was booting, but the screen doesn't light up, nor the led while charging.
I've read a lot of thread with similar problems, which were solved by replugging the battery, but this solution won't work for me.
Here is what i've tried so far:
-Changing the charger/cable
-Replugging the battery
-Leaving the battery unplugged over night, then replug
-Leaving the phone rest for 8 hours
-Pressed every possible combination of button for 20 sec
None of the above solutions changed anything.
I don't think that it could be a battery problem, the phone shut down at arround 40% and my multimeter still indicates a voltage of 4.20V at the battery.
Hope you guys will be able to help me !
Thanks
4.2 means battery more than 80 percent. you seems bricked. use the following guide step by step read everything carefully. any question post there in the thread. please search around before starting new thread.

@Solasmeryl
Was you in M when you bricked ?
If you was and are getting 'continuing to os ' error in xFSTK .
Try this > in xFSTK
1) fwr dnx = your normal file you used before
2)Ifwi = try this >
http://www.mediafire.com/file/xjhv9gfiv5sn7xx/tmp_17491-ifwi_ann_a0-mofd_v1-ze551ml1929259488.bin
3) is skipped = per usual
4) OS = your usual posignbin you used before
If you get bootloader now , it will be 0094.0183 for M , flash M raw file.
Then you flash M raw file (twice) in AFTools, raw M = 4.21.40.184
First flash for approx 3 to 4 mins, where on-screen cmds pauses on "RESULT=OK" on phone.
Close flashtools , force close.
Open flashtools again , input raw , press vol+ (once) and serial now is corrected , flash till it boots into system.approx 8 mins
Notes..
If serial number is correct after xFSTK flash , you only flash raw once only. Flash Twice if serial is 0123456789ABCDEF
.
.
When connecting to xFSTK. Connect data lead.
Press power and vol-, press download , connect phone, release vol- and power
If fail , press vol + and power till first of two vibes , release buttons , hit download button in xFSTK at the same time you release buttons on phone , tricky but you can do it .
There's AFT and links to needed files in my unbrick thread in my signature , even a video showing flashing procedure
Fixed LINK , added M .184 ifwi for xFSTK

Hi, thank you for helping me out, i didn't though my problem could be a brick, but my symptoms are the same.
I was running CM 13, so yeah, the android version was M.
I tried your IFWI file but it doesn't seem to have fixed anything, except, the phone doesn't vibrate anymore now.
I don't know i just accidentally destroyed the vibration motor or if the IFWI file has anything to do with it.

Nothing to do with Motor i`m afraid
Battery dead , will be the main cause .
Leave connected to charger for a good few hrs :good:
Each flash in xFSTK uses approx 10% battery , more if you sit there watching it `continuing to os`
See my video in link -- the button process and connection -- i do it just the once , admittedly i have unbricked many zens and know exactly when to press dload in xFSTK :good:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmbRaJijIBs&feature=youtu.be
ps cm13 was based on LP mainly , only the latter versions and cm 14 had bootloader upgrades.
So return to original flashing files

Just FYI, if you were on cm13 official then your base was LP not MM. Even though it's an MM rom

Ok, so i charged up the phone, went back to the original file as suggested. Vibrations are back, but i still can't figure out how to pass the "Continuing to OS" error :/
Here is how i seem to understand the steps:
1. I Click begin download (which start the 120sec timer)
2. I press Power and Vol - for 4 sec then release
3. I Connect the phone to the PC, hear the windows "device connect" sound
4.Messages show up in xFSTK, sometimes errors, sometimes the download begins, and back to the "Continuing to OS"
5.The phone vibrates, the software attemps 20 reconnect then aborts.
I've also tried a lot of different combinations such as pressing power after plugging, not pressing power at all, etc (The software indicates 41 tries).
It just seems that the phone is completely dead :/
Thans a lot for the help, i really hope that i doesn't bother you too much by making mistakes !
Do you usual flash , soon as you see continuing to os Press power and vol + , at first of of two vibes - release and hit download.
Note , if only one vibe , re press and keep pressed vol+ and power immediately.
Do press download first like in the video..but you have to double click it to stop and to begin again at the exact time of releasing at first of two vibes
Ps , depending on pc speeds etc etc , it is wise to come off the internet , disable anti virus , clean pc from junk, c cleaner free is good and do a reboot.
Also , some people report it just flashing after hrs of failures by just leaving phone connected after a failure with xFSTK still open, then restarting flash after a good break of half hr plus

No change :/ even tho i've tried every button timing possible i guess.
I've noticed that pressing Power and Vol- before plugging in the phone always leads to an error. The only way to get to the continuing to os is by pressing these buttons while the phone is already connected, and then hit download.
Could there be any other software problem that could **** things up and that i forgot to mention ?

Can you ignore xFSTK for a moment
try this without being connected to pc either.
(A)Press and keep pressed power and vol+ . Does your phone vibrate (twice) ?

Well , somehow you gotta release both buttons and hit download at the same time at first vibrations of the two .
Do what you need regarding pressing power and vol- to connect initially . Then go about trying to get the above two vibes process while downloading . Be fast to double click download at the first of two vibes --
Thats it !
That is all anyone has to do :good:
One other thing to try is - just try power , on its own(like power off), press and keep pressed after initial connection download process, once it vibrates - release and -- go for the power and vol+ 2 vibe process again. Get ready to hit download !
---------- Post added at 05:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:25 PM ----------
If that doesnt work ^^^ i will begin to start asking questions about the settings you have applied
Double check this ->
(fast forward to 18:30 mins in of this video for settings to be modified in XFSTK re... changing GP over ride to 0x80000807 ) . Make sure you modified the correct CRC+ box at the bottom

Hi, sorry for the delay, i had a lot of work the past two days.
I've tried everything you said, double checked every parameter, and even tried the manipulation on another computer, but there is no change.
The weird thing is, that if i plug the phone into the computer, it gets detected, but there is no vibe, so no way to know when to click on download. I only get vibes on boot if it is not connected in USB.
Moreover, i don't really understand what you mean by " double click at the first 2 vibes", since the button gets "gray" after 1 press, and there is no way to double click it.
I'm sorry, you have put a lot of effort into helping me, but i really think that my phone may be more damaged than a simple brick :/

Suggests it will be USB board /port /cable :good:
Do the same again with data cable connected to phone but not connected to anything to rule out cable :good:

I'm not sure to really understand your last sentence ? Do you mean like removing the 2 power cables inside the USB ?
I've tried with different USB cables, and no change either :/

You can now only pray it is the USB board and not Mainboard , order a new USB board and a `new` Data cable, do not use old data cables with new board just incase your phones charge port has altered pins on either or both cables or data cable has changed pins on usb or vice versa :good:
ps , make sure it is a quality data cable you order too, some sell data when only a charge cable

Looking from the outside, it seems that I have been through something similar.
What I can advise is to carry out the process in this way:
1 - Shut the device down by pressing and holding Power and Vol + simultaneously. Wait a few seconds and it will vibrate once, more one second and it will vibrate 3 more times. Until it vibrates 3 times, hold Power and Vol + pressed. Only release it after the vibrations. So it will have shut down totally.
2 - After that, plug in the charger and make sure the device has at least 40% battery.
3 - If you have or when you have it, disconnect it, make sure it is completely off (otherwise repeat the first step), wait for about 20 seconds and make the flash process normally in Flashtool, preferably without interruption.
Let me know if it worked. Hope so.:fingers-crossed:

Hello. I tried to install Android Pie on my LG G7 ThinQ and it failed. When turning on the phone it's showing only one thing (attachment). Tried to enter to download mode, but it's going back to this screen from attachment. Tried LG Up but it's not recognizing device. Can somebody help me? I don't want to give it back on warranty or to support.

You can try with usb connected, press and hold volume up before restart to download mode to LGUP flash again (try with 8.0 or fresh download fw).

Same with me when cross-flash from HK region to EU region, always to flashboot or recovery mode.
With usb cable connected with PC (your G7 always in fastboot mode) force restart by press and hold volume down + power until screen turn off, release two button and fast press and hold volume up before LG 7 logo. My G7 boot into download mode.

Guys, I called you in one message as it seems we all had experienced the same drastic issue with the phone got bricked on the update process. We all probably used LGUP and on the update somewhere on the %'age progress (in mine it was 91%) the process stopped so we needed to force reboot and after that we got only fastboot menu.
Once trying to enter download mode, upon connecting to USB, the download mode title frame blinks for a split/second and it goes all way into fastboot only, correct?
Having said that - I believe it is vital not only to update how you resolved (or still resolving) the issue but how it happened we stepped in that deep sh!t overall...
On my particular case - I had bought the phone with branded oreo software, what I wanted was to (a) force-upgrade to Pie (as the brand operator is still very late with the Pie update) and (b) unbrand to open or brand Orange as I wanted the VoLTE and VoWiFi working. I used the LGUP 1.14 and tried uppercut but it did not work in my case (probably because of antivirus software something was permanently blocking) so I found the common_dll file which resolved the issue and the progress started. However, as mentioned - at 91% it stopped and phone died. I moved it to LGE service, they replaced the mainboard as it is under warranty. I suspect I used some sort of invalid DLL file, probably that caused the process crashed.
As a postmortem - I regret that in panic I force-rebooted the phone, it was certain the system won't start and now I realize it was also a high risk it will be bricked but you know... just tried to resolve instantly. I wonder what would happen if I would not reboot but leave the phone in download mode (still hold on 91% but still alive) and in that state would connect the phone back into LG Bridge software or LGEtool - possibly it would be recognized by the firmware auto-flasher inspected or fixed and it would reboot itself properly into download to resurrect...who knows.
I am looking forward your status guys - where are you with the fix and actually how did you go into that trouble - so what flash method you used ? You know, to avoid that scenario in future...

I investigated the problem of why it stopped at 98% and it is because of the issue of the ddl file, before any flash by lg up it is better to prevent and replace the common ddl file, which I did not do. just in case, I still have the phone in fastboot mode, I have not been able to find a solution yet.
So.. Ive actually managed to get outta fastboot and into quallcom9008 mode.. (Deliberately..) But.. Cant do **** ib that mode just yet.. Software not available.
Now i read about resetting while in thar mode via test points. Will let ya know if there comes anything from that..
(Btw... To get into 9008 mode.. Hold power and vol down while in that gawd aweful fastboot tutorial menu.. And tap the vol up button fast and repeatedly.. If it resets and you have a blank screen.. Ya there..!! If it just resets to.. Well. Fastboot.. Ya didnt rap fast enough.. Do it again.
To exit 9008 mode.. Just hold power and vol down till bootlogo comes up..
It aint much. But maybe some1 more clever can use that info and get us outta that gawd damn menu.. plz..
If you are stuck in fastboot loop see this post:
