Can't wipe data on CWM - Galaxy Grand Duos i9082 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I am running android 4.2.2 on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Duo
I have recently rooted my phone with superSU
And I am trying to install an unofficial version of lollipop 5.1.1
When I press Volume Up + Home + Power to get into CWM it says "Unknown Command" and takes me to the default recovery menu.
I can get into CWM by putting my phone in download mode and flashing it with ODIN temponarly.
And when i go to wipe data on CWM, it doesn't say yes anywhere, it just shows 5 no's
I have tried scrolling up and down with the volume keys but had no luck.
What im looking for is just how do i get the no's to say yes
Can anyone please help me quickly?
I have rooted many phones but never worked with CWM or custom ROMS
Thanks
-Niko

Flash custom recovery using odin and when the phone is done and restarts IMMEDIATELY press vol up+home to enter recovery. Otherwise custom recovery wont be installed
use TWRP, way better than CWM.

[Solved + open question] Flashed to Stock 4.3, no data, custom recovery wont stick

So I had android 4.1.2 with root, keep getting the updates, so I went and found the 4.3 rooted rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2541900). I have stock recovery, but I was able to get rom manager to install it (since I had supersu). Flash it last night, then flashed the wif fix. After I installed the 4.3 rom, my phone was telling me to still update, not sure why.
So now my phone is stuck in this weird state.
No root access
4.3 installed (MK3)
Looks like the previous stock recovery (doesnt say KNOX or whatever for 4.3, just QUALCOM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE)
I cant flash any custom recovery's (CWM or twrp) through odin (3.07) they dont stick.
Factory Reset
In Rom Manager under Recovery Setup
Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 6.0.2.8
Latest Recovery: ClockworkMod 6.0.4.5
Idealy I would like to keep root access, but at this point, I REALLY want mobile data. This morning I found a few post that suggested the ##72786#, because I had no phone number it was (000-000-96??) or something. So now it shows my phone number, I could and can still make calls and send text.
Help!
Thanks!
[EDIT] Solved
So, I roughly followed this guide. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991
1) Did the Auto Root through Odin
2) Installed superSu
3) got root
4) flashed twrp via odin
5) Used Rom manager to get into recovery
6) flashed the MK3 modem and knox app remover
7) wiped delvik and cache
8) rebooted and got mobile data again!
Open Question: So when I press down vol + home button + power, I only get the stock recovery (green android guy), how do I get it to go to custom recovery without rom manager?
Thanks again!

Sounds like your in download mode, power off phone, try volume up, home, power button together, as soon as you see booting recovery in top left corner, let go.

Unable to flash twrp recovery on official 4.4.2 and recovery seems to be broken

Hey guys , it seems that my mobile recovery became not alright , I tried to flash twrp recovery to install dn3 v5+ with 4.4 bootloader , so I updated my note 2 to 4.4 via OTA and after I update it I downloaded twrp 2.7.0.2 and flashed it through odin it gave me pass! , that's seem good until this moment I tried to enter the recovery and I was surprised that the recovery wasn't installed and it gaved me no command and tried to reboot gives me error and then it reboots , I tried to reinstall the recovery and it gives me RESET instead of PASS on odin and nothing happens and also in downloading mode it gives me knox void : 1 , so can I do to fix my recovery firstly and then flash the dn3 rom ?

First of all you should have used philz recovery version 6.25. or 6.41 if you are flashing the recovery for first time on stock ROM.(TWRP is known to give issues when flashing it over stock recovery).Download the latest philz from this LINK.before doing all this place superSu v1.99 in your external sd card of your phone you'll need it later.Put your phone into download mode.Open odin, connect your phone to odin.wait for the port id to lit up, uncheck AUTOReboot in odin.Next tick mark the AP/PDA option in odin and browse to select the downloaded philz file from above link. Then click start and let odin do it's thing.Once it says "pass" unplug the phone from laptop/pc pull the battery out the phone so it can turn off .wait few seconds put the battery back in then enter recovery mode manually by pressing and holding the volume up+home+power button and let go of all 3 buttons as soon as you see samsung note 2 logo ,wait around 10 seconds or so for philz to load. Then go to install zip select sd card 1 philz will freeze for a moment and then show main menu again, do the same go back to install zip , click on storage sdcard 1(external sd card) find the superSu v1.99 that you downloaded earlier and click on it and press yes on next screen and let it flash. Now use the back button and go back to main menu,go to power then click on reboot system. Now your phone is rooted and superSu will ask to disable Knox press ok/yes and you are done.
SuperSu V1.99
Anyone still have that old Philz recovery?? I'm trying to upgrade my mother in-law's Note 2 to CM13... ugh
Use twrp as cwm and Philz have not been updated for a long time.

Since you are ready to reset your phone(assuming you have backed up everything), you can try
1.Booting to recovery with phone turned off by the 3 combination keys(lol, read that somewhere off internet) and not just directly.
2.Flashing 4.2.2 again(from sammobile.com) or some other trusted site. And reflashing cwm recovery.
3.Try rooting it ?
4.Try intalling some app like GooManager from playstore to try to enter recovery mode.
May i know which recovery file you flashed? Flashing a more newer/alternative recovery may help.
Did you manage to fix this. Same thing happening to me.. Flashing recovery from Odin does not work.. Factory reset does not work either. Tried to enter recovery mode.. That does not work as well.. In all everything results in normal boot..
Can any one help?

i have observed that u need to do factory reset after flashing a rom.
1. flash stock rom, i would highly recommend using android v4.1.2 because 4.2. of i9082 is little buggy. link to stock rom- http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/GT-I9082/
2. After first boot, do a FACTORY RESET either through settings or using stock 3e recovery, both works
3. flash twrp 2.8.6, via odin, (DO NOT RENAME THE .TAR FILE) link to recovery- https://twrp.me/devices/samsunggalaxygrandduos.html
I have tested this recovery on i9082
if i helped you someway, HIT 'THANKS' button

Download Odin and PhilZ recovery/kernel for i9082. Flash kernel/recovery via Odin (you must be in download mode, use Volume Down + Home Button + Power Button combo for this) and you should have recovery. After this, you can flash any other recovery/rom if you want.
P.S. Don't forget to do Nandroid Backup.

Flashing Recovery again with Odin.
Don't tick the 'Auto reboot' and hit start button.
Wait until it shows pass messages.
Disconnect device from PC.
Remove battery and insert after 5 secs.
Press 'Volume Up+Home+Power'.
Thats it!!

[Q] Can't boot into recovery but can boot normally-xperia S

Hello there, I'm a bit new to this, but I wanted to try flashing a custom rom. I was using So I chose Carbonn 4.4.4 rom. Prior to that I installed doomslord CMW recovery 6.0.30 and did a backup of my Rom. Then I booted into recovery, wiped the data and flashed the carbonn Rom. Everything went fine, then I realized I hadn't flashed the gapps. So I rebooted my phone into recovery (Pressing the volume up button at the 'sony' logo). However it doesn't boot into recovery. The led light turns blue and it's stuck on the Sony logo. The only way to get out of it is the power down the device manually by pressing the power button and volume up button.
Rebooting into recovery only causes this problem. Otherwise it boots normally into the carbon Rom. How do I restore my backup? Since I can't boot into recovery?

The latest Carbon ROM has recovery which doesn't work on Our phone. Follow the procedure here to flash a working recovery.
Tried that but cant seem to work. Besides it requires busy box to be installed which I cant seem to install. Any apk for that matter cant be installed. It shows "Cant open file"

if You are on latest version of carbon, You wouldn't need to root as the ROM is pre rooted. Are You sure Your apk file are good? Because in any case, You must be able to install at least an apk file. Did You try messing with the ROM before?

[Q] Keyboard, power and camera button dead. How to install recovery.

So my S3 just died a day ago and the only other phone I have right now is the Epic 4g but unfortunately the Keyboard is dead. Only the Volume rockers are working, the power and the camera button is dead too.
I can still power on the device using a jig, it also helped me jump to download mode as the custom rom I had was stuck in boot loop. So I was able to flash stock FC09 using Odin.
Now since the phone isn't detecting the keyboard the only way to wake the device is to connect and disconnect the usb cable.
So, I was trying to install CM as CM has a option where we can set the volume rockers to wake the device up.
But unfortunately I haven't been successfully able to install any recovery. Since I can't stop the device before rebooting after flashing a recovery through odin, samsung replaces the recovery back to stock. Rom manager too have been unsuccessful. Framaroot is able to root the device but that too for some reason is just a temporary root, after a few restarts its gone. I tried flashing two or three kernels that were available which were prerooted and had recoveries inbuilt but unfortunately they too didn't work. The Shadow Kernel with the CM recovery was just messed up as it was unable to locate and mount any of the partitions.
I even tried looking for a custom rom or a prerooted rom which can be flashed through odin but I have been unable to find anything the whole day.
I thought the easiest thing to do was to replace the recovery image in the tar but that too requires ubuntu and some coding and than there is a format and queue and if the .img/.bin files aren't installed in that order then it will brick the device.
Can some one just direct me to a odin flashable .tar cm rom or a stock rom with built in cwm recovery which I can then use to install cm.
Please give solutions considering:
I can't jump to recovery after download mode as neither power nor camera button works. So any recovery flashed through Odin just gets overwritten back to stock.
Your help is highly appreciated.
