aww man my battery has gotten so bad recently. I've had about an hour and a half SOT and wanted to use root to help me get a sufficient amount of battery to aid me throughout the day
Mine started doing the same thing as soon as i rooted but i noticed that i now had the H+ signal icon as well i think its because in all the roms ive tried they dont use tmobiles stock signal files. It seems like they only use the european files. They are compatible but dont give the same results.
So yu dont need to downgrade just have a stock rooted deodexed rom for tmobile but they dont upload that for some reason. Yu can also tell they are changing to many things cuz they give yu the super ugly note icons that look like bubbles and the s6 edge has a differnt more traditional looking touchwiz.

I had the same issue with battery and installed DU Battery Saver (paid version), and ran it twice. The new battery and toolkit I purchased are still sitting on my
desk after a Month. Battery life is averaging 10 hours with moderate use. Hope this helps you as it did me...
Thought I saw in the update info that it adds the ability to text 911 as part of the update

Nope only way to root is with custom recovery and you can use system less root. No Samsung Pay but Android Pay works

Hello lovelies from XDA
Before you say anything about not reading the other threads about cell standby, I'm just going to say I've read them all.
I bought the GT-I9195 with 4.2.2 Android in T-mobile Croatia. It took 2 days before I finnaly lost my mind from all the bloatware and decided to root it.
Used the S4 mini rootkit v2 to root the phone and got rid of all the yahoo widgets, knox, backgrounds... almost everything.
I tried removing the SD card and had no change in results. Battery shows that in 16 hours, cell standby used 37% of the battery with 76% of time without signal. Is that normal for a 2G network?
So, my question is: Is there an actual fix for this or just speculation what may or may not work. If flashing a custom rom fixes it, I'll take it, but only as my last option since I quite like the stock rom.

The new stock 4.4.2 still has that terrible battery drain problem. It drains 20% overnight with everything off...
Read some info here how to partly fix that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=54401764
@Termich if you're rooted already, you may have tripped knox, so the best solution would be to try custom kernel from rooting thread.

The phone is normal as before. Only text in download mode says that warranty is void.
But that doesn't mean warranty won't repair your phone because of hardware problem... Some people got repaired their phones with 0x1 status.

Can someone that has a T-Mobile S6 please test this?! If so, then I honestly might not root my S6 -_- unless someone comes up with a way to not trip Knox.
The s6 is out now?
No, but there are enough engineers at service centers, distributors, inside Samsung itself, who already have one, leak the necessary files, and test the roots, for this to be available already.

Could it be the out-of-the-box OTA we received? Or was this ever actually working?

Also, if I flash the update following the instruction, I would lose all my files on my phone, right?

There should be some options in the app, one called REFURBISH and one call UPGRADE. Choosing UPGRADE will just upgrade with all data intact as if you were taking an OTA update.
As for the battery life, I can't say that I noticed any substantial increase or decrease in battery life. If I had to lean one way, I would say that battery life improved, but only a little.

Root works like any other recent version. Just look in the threads for the method you want. If it worked at least for four versions ago, it should still work now.

Hey all!
I'm new to Samsung completely, I have experience rooting, as I've had multiple Nexus devices, and other rootable phones. Just never had a Samsung. I recently took the Oreo OTA update, and was wondering about the best rooting method? Ive read that you lose secret folder. Is there a way to keep that?
Basically I just want to debloat more and theme without having to use Andromeda, as that is annoying.

Yes it will work fine on oreo, as long as the 2nd to last number of the version you are on isn't a 3. Example:
Good: G950USQU2CRB7
Not Good: G950USQU3CRC6
^-- That right there is a no no for now
But afaik there is so rom in existence for 950u with a 3 there. Just something to watch for in the future.
You don't need to flash back to nougat stock first either. Your should be able to go straight to pcr. If you have trouble with the first step you can try flashing part 2 first, followed by 1 then 2 again, but i fine expect you will have any issues.

Not exactly, this is a root/rom combo. So it will downgrade you back to Nougat version 2 bootloader firmware, root your device, and flash a ROM all at the same time. So there is no way to flash a different ROM since the rooting process and ROM flashing is built into one step.

True, but if anyone is still lucky enough to be on version 2 bootloader on Oreo they still can downgrade to Nougat version 2 bootloader and use that Root/ROM combo to root their device since it works on ver. 2 bootloader but not 3. And yeah, screw Verizon!

Yeah its flashing an engineered firmware, and it trips knox which is needed for secure folder I think. I looked on my S8+ and couldn't find secure folder anywhere, so I'm guessing the ROM removes it.

Whatever happened to those days. S**t, the last few ROMs I was flashing on the N6 were all pretty much the same. I miss being pissed off that one rom had all the things I wanted but looked hideous. Then everything got CM based and themes were everywhere. Then it all just got the same. Then it all got locked down. Almost like Android and Google were playing the devs getting them to make the mods, then them steal them, and incorporate them, then lock it down.

I'm sorry for this basic question, but does the phone being carrier unlocked make any difference? I know that has nothing to do with the bootloader; I'm simply asking if the phone not being Verizon-specific has any effect on rootability ... Yeah there is root for all carrieres (verizon, tmobil, sprint, att) but its limited and the bootloader is still locked. I would still get a the international version, better root, more Roms, etc...

When you say international version, is that simply the carrier unlocked version? And do you know if there is a certain model number or letter designation after the model number I should be looking for? I'm shopping on Swappa and eBay and need to be really careful. Thank you for the help, by the way.
