Lost 5g wifi totally - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

I've been looking for a answer but have come up blank.
I've updated to 5.1 recently, at that time I lost my 5g wifi. Don't know if it might be kernel based, or based on the unit itself. I've factory reset, Odin loaded the operating systems.
At a loss for what it is.

You need to change your 5g channel. 5G is working fine with 5.1.1. It's your router that you need to play with. Let start reboot your router and see....

No router is fine I have 5 other devices and they are getting 5g just fine, it's just this device that is not getting 5g. That's why I am stumped.

Are you located in North America and put on the Spanish version of the image or did you upgrade through Kies3 or OTA? There is some truth to the the router fact of you installed the Spanish version, otherwise take a look at the 5G channel table https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WLAN_channels

Yeah I did use the Spanish version but I then did the xar version when it came out, via Odin I'm guessing that I need to flash the radio for USA channels to work some one Wang to point me in the right direction.

Set 5G to channel 48 or lower

I had the same problem. Was ready to buy new router. Don't know why, tablet sees 5G only if router set to channel 48 or low. If router is set to higher channel on 5G, tablet does not see it.

Got it working right finally, went and reloaded the xar software but it screwed up cause of the usb cable coming out redid it and now it good. What happened I don't know, scrambled the other brains and put in new.

[Q] Wifi issues seemingly with KitKat... no 5ghz band

Ok... i have tried both DN3v5 and EzKat... both have the same issue of not seeing the 5ghz band... my stock note 2 had no issues... and i've restored it back there twice and no issues... what am i missing here?
i just flash the latest slimkat... same thing... no 5ghz band...
***edit... after a couple reboots, it's finally sees the 5ghz band on slimkat... so must be something specific to dn3v5 and ezkat...
i have no idea what made me think about this, but on a whim... i flashed again... booted and rebooted a few different times... nada... no 5ghz band... so i just powered down and threw my sim in there... boom... 5ghz band appears now... WTF is that about???

Hummmm seems it was user error as I expected all along. But at least you figured it out. Next time you trying something make sure you test it like a fully functioning phone. Meaning put the sim in it too try the Rom! ?
I do have some odd issue with 5GHz on my note 2 across multiple roms. I think the issue is due to the radio and/or bootloader of the my phone as I am still on 4.1.1 or 4.1.2 bootlaoder. If you are on older bootloader, you may wish to flash the latest one or do a complete clean flash with latest bootloader then install the rom of your choice to see if that fix the issue.

[Q] Can a wwe firmware cause issues with my wifi (based in USA)?

I know there's a wifi issue thread, but this is a little more specific.
I started having issues with my wifi over the weekend... It shows connected, but takes 70-100 seconds to "register" that there's a connection. By that, I mean: When I open an app, it takes that long for it to "connect" and start working. Some apps will time out and say "no data connection". When I test it with Speedtest.net, it takes about 90 seconds of "finding server" to test my connection. When I test it, I'm getting great speeds, but it takes too long to connect to the server. If I turn off wifi, and just use mobile data, it works fine.
This has me wondering if there is an issue with an international or dev firmware, or the actual radio, running in the USA? Maybe it takes longer to recognize one or the other? It's not just my phone either.... There is another, older, rooted HTC One M7 in the house having the same issue (running a wwe or dev firmware) with a custom ROM......So it's not just my phone.

I suppose it's possible. You should be able to run Viper with the AT&T firmware, though. So I'd try flashing the new AT&T firmware and seeing if that helps clear things up.

Now the $1,000,000 question..... Where do I find the latest At&t Firmware?

Unfortunately, until someone extracts it, RUU is the only method I know of.
Either that, or return to stock (if you made a system image backup before rooting) and take the OTA.

Yeah, I just RUU'd..... Even on the stock At&t ROM, I had issues....Couldn't stand stock, so I'm now running the most recent At&t firmware on a current wwe (2.10.x.x) ROM with no issues (yet).
I run wwe firmware with no issues on wifi as i did with my m7 and m8 too.
[UPDATE] Wifi issues resolved
After numerous hours/days of working on WHY my wifi doesn't work properly.....I got it figured out.
I flashed the RUU of the official At&t 5.1 ROM = Did not work (so I flashed back to my fav custom ROM)
Changed every setting I could find/think of in my Netgear router = Did not work
Exchanged my Netgear, thinking it was faulty, for a new (better) one = Did not work
Tried my, retired, Apple Airport Extreme router = Did not work
Called my ISP several times, no help at all (worse than calling At&t) = Did not work
Logged into my cable modem and disabled ALL security and Firewall = Did not work
Tried my cable modem's built-in wifi = Did not work
FINALLY, I exchanged my cable modem for a different one at my local office...... IT WORKS!
So it was something *wonky* with my cable modem the whole time. Wish I knew this before buying 2 new routers over the last couple months! Oh well, I now have a couple good backup routers

Upgraded to 6.0, now WiFi sucks

So I upgraded to 6.0 Wednesday night, since I check and it was available. Got it installed and discovered that the wifi is extremely unstable. It oscillates between full signal and no signal and anything Im streaming cuts out regularly. Every minute or two I would say. It gets bad enough that some times it will disconnect and use LTE then immediately reconnect. I finally figured out that if I disable 2.4GHz it works fine on the 5GHz signal from my AP, even though its pretty low. I scanned and there doesn't seem to be any new APs that popped up overnight. My AP auto selected channel 1 and the nearest other AP is on channel 6 (its kinda rural out here)
Any ideas or is this something someone has encountered before?
So you simply went for the OTA that got pushed to you?
Maybe its some old files or apps causing this. I assume it worked just fine on 5.1 and got bad on 6.0 so something during the update caused this.
If you can (S-OFF etc) I would suggest making a backup and flashing the Dev MM RUU that's available. Like that you have a pretty good base to go off of. If just briefly use a stock ROM and if the problem continues then its something in MM if not then it was your particular OTA update that caused it.
You can then either make another backup of the STOCK ROM and restore to your old one and see if the problem continues (firmware issue) or is fixed.
Trial and Error
Yeah, It was the OTA.
Not looking forward to nuking eveything. But I suppose Ill have to try it if no one else has the issue. Kinda need 2.4Gig support since not all APs broadcast on 5Gig
There are no ota's. Only the dev edition m9 got mm.
You could try clearing the cache? Other then that I'd say a full reflash is in order.

Aslong as you make a twrp backup and save anything from the internal sdcard you'll be fine.

A520W WiFi keeps dropping after upgrading to Oreo

My wife and I both have SM-A520W phones. I OTA upgraded mine while travelling in Europe (risky, I know) and didn't have any issues with it. I waited til we returned to upgrade hers, and since upgrading, she has been unable to maintain a WiFi connection beyond a number of minutes, e.g. 5-30 minutes.
I downgraded her phone to Nougat (A520WVLS2BRD2 / A520WOYA2BRD2) using Odin, and things returned to normal. When the July 1st patch (A520WVLU2CRF2 / A520WOYA2CRF2) for Oreo was released I tried upgrading it again over the air, and the WiFi issues returned. Unfortunately after upgrading to this version, I can no longer use Odin to downgrade to Nougat, as it results in a "kernel rev check fail device 1 binary 0" even if I don't load the bootrom. I tried doing a fresh load with Odin of the latest Oreo release as well, but the issue persists.
Any suggestions on either how to downgrade to Nougat, or resolve the WiFi issues on her phone? It seems surprising to me that one phone works fine, and the other one fails repeatedly on the same network and carrier (Freedom). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi. I have the same problem. Were you able to resolve the issue?
Unfortunately not in any way that will be helpful. Took the device to an authorized Samsung repair place, they ran diagnostics, and then offered to swap the main board. They did that, and everything has been fine since.

Could have been a software bug. Personally, I would have got a new phone rather than getting a new motherboard.

A71 not connecting/detecting 5ghz on WiFi (only 2.4ghz)

Phone model: Samsung Galaxy A71 SM-A715F/DS
Recently updated to One UI 3.1, Android 11, Google play update March 1 2021
Country: Philippines
As the title says, my phone out of nowhere couldn't detect any 5ghz on wifi. I don't know how long this has been because I don't check what wifi I'm connected to. As long as I was connected, I wasn't worried. But today I discovered it's been connecting to the 2.4 band of my wifi.
We have lots of other devices in the house and all of them detect the 5ghz band. all of them have no connection issues with that. only this phone. I'm not sure if this has something to do with the recent update, but I have a feeling it's because of that.
Things I've already tried:
Restarting the router.
Restarting my phone several times.
Restarting my phone in safe mode. still nada.
Wiping cache partition in recovery mode.
resetting network settings (using the reset option in settings)
disabling vpns/adguards etc.
enabling option in hotspot to prefer 5g bands.
All of them and still nothing. The only thing I haven't tried is doing hard reset or factory reset because I got lots of important stuff and settings already in my phone. I hope it won't get to that point.
Please help, seriously. Thanks very much!

Try to reflash the stock firmware again... Without doing a factory reset.
Hopefully this can help.
