keyboard settings on C6502 + 5.x.x - Sony Xperia ZL

hello everybody
i had a looooong e-mail battle with Sony support team to include option "disable autocapitalisation" for keyboard settings
can anybody confirm or deny the presence of this checkbox in settings for lollipop? because that is basically the one and only reason for me to upgrade and i'm not sure whether i'm should go with it
thanks in advance
cheers

i don't know what exactly are you asking, but i'll try.
In the keyboard, while typing, the first letter is capital. You can tap the capitalisation arrow to make even the first letter small, but you have to do this every time you want the first letter to be in small letters.
hope this helps.

i never experienced a problem with clarity of my speech, but anyway
BEHOLD!
exibit A: some unknown Samsung phone of my coworker
i67 tinypic com/2el6m12.jpg
exibit B: my C6502
i66 tinypic com/k03q14.jpg
(replace spaces with dots)
so, my question: does SONY included this option in the new android version or not
i can install third-party keyboard, like, google's. and the google keyboard do have the "autocapitalization" option. but i really like the appearance and layout of Sony's keyboard, so, i want them to change
if you have a ZL and update it for Android 5.x.x - just go to the keyboard settings. if you see the checkbox for autocorrection - tell me. if you don't see it - tell me anyway, hehe
thank you in advance once again!

forgive me my friend for not understanding the first time.
I have updated my Xperia to 5.1.1
as I told you earlier, the keyboard DOES auto capitalise the first letter.(you can change this behaviour on the fly with the Upward arrow below the letter "a" as shown in the screenshots.)
here are these screenshots you requested. see for yourself. if you want any help, I will surely help you

OK, auto-capitalization is still turned on by defaut and still unswitchable
guess, i'll stick with KitKat for now
thanks

On Screen Keyboard Question

Hello guys,
Just received my device today and I am loving it to bits. Just one question tho and I haven't seen anyone asking this question.
When you go into SMS messages tab and click on new message. When I click on the 'to:' field, a numeral keyboard on screen keyboard is forced to be used (even tho I have chose full QWERTY keyboard). Haven anyone noticed that? That is the weird part but if you look closely, there is a 'P' and a 'W' key as well. Why those keys and no other keys.
I used to be able to type in the name of the recipient, now I have to use the hardware keyboard to do so, (I would like to have the option to use a soft keyboard, although I love the hardware one).
Also, I have noticed that the Numeral Pad for typing messages have now gone. It used to be on the HD. I thought it was quite useful when if was on the HD and find it was a good way for t9 messaging with one hand.
Anyone noticed?
Anyone????
Anyone knows what the keys P and W is for when entering receipiant details? I don't mind it but I just wanted to know why P and W and not any other letters.
P: Pause (1sec Pause before sending the tones)
W: Wait (doesn't seem to work on WM - on nokia phones there was a new dialog coming up - and you could decide when you'd like to send the remainig numbers)
Sorry double post

Thanks a lot mate!
This is the first time I have seen this on a keypad. Never knew you need those keys.
But why would you need to pause before sending the tone?

sometimes u need this for using gateway services where it will ask for password/id before the phone number dialled (VOIP, teleconferance use etc)
you need the pause key; else the system will treat is as a very long number and ended up error

Is there someway to get t9 keypad like on the diamond 2?
I just bought this phone and i would be wery sad if there where no option for t9/phonekeys/keypad (onscreen of course)
Thanks...

LG Optimus Dual's gestures

Hi everybody!
Is there an application that lets you use lg optimus dual's gestures? I refer to the possiblity to move the cursor, when you are writing, left or right simply by hitting your device on the left or the right side.
Thank you in advance and sorry my english

Bump!
This sounds pretty interesting...
Yes this is possible, actually with a little bit of porting you could use the same app. The only real problem is that the hardware (accelerometer) is different. But it shouldn't be to big of a problem. How usefull this app would be is a second issue. You are aware that it is merely a gimmick and not even very functional on the optimus right?
Hope this informed you enough. If you want someone to develop it for you, just send out a request and donate kindly
Thank you for the explanation, my real problem is how to move between text easily, i red about this possibility but it's not an useful solution... Thank you tho for helping
Btw do you know how to move practically between text?

No problem, Could you elaborate on that? I don't understand what you mean exactly. You press where you want to have the cursor on text? On website its a longpress and then you can drag (and copy search etc) Is this what you mean?
I have some problems while typing a text message, for example, my finger isn't too much precise to choose the right place;
another important problem that i have is when i'm searching on Google: if what i'm searching is longer than the bar, and I'd like to edit the last word, i can't move the cursor too right beside i should tap the "x", that deletes all...
Sorry my English i tried to explain as best as i can, i hope that it's understandable...
10q again for help

Actually I know what you mean, google thing you can solve by making a text selection and draging it to the beginning. For the text problem there isnt really a solution. I got used to it pretty fast and im accurate now. Also the gingerbread keyboard is a bit better when it comes to text selection, if your not using it yet it might be worth giving a try
you can find a flashable package of the keyboard here.
Hope this will help you!
Edit: Text selection in google mobile is indeed not possible. A solution for this could be to use classic google which has a larger text box. (I am using this since the beginning, its actually faster and less buggy, downside is that you have to zoom in and out a bit more)
I already have a gingerbread keyboard, thank you...

Ok good, best keyboard imo. OT: you still want the dual gestures? Could ask some dev's to take a look at it
no i don't think i will, it's not so important, i don't want to bother a dev for so little...
Hahaha, lonely in this thread. We could have almost handled it with pm's

[Q] Disable auto correct but leave word suggestions?

Hi ya lads and gals
I'd appreciate some help with adjusting the auto correct features on the HTC One M8 - I'd like to disable the automatic replacement of words as you type - but I'd like to leave the list of word suggestions or spell check suggestions as you tap an underlined word.
I don't know if this is a Sense 6 specific option, but you can either have both - suggestions and auto correct - or none at all. You have only one check box and you can't go deeper into the options (Sense 3.6 had more options).
i.e.: edit: sorry, can't post links yet - you can view this screen cap i.imgur.com/XIxn8mr.jpg?1
However on both Sony SP (4.3) and Sony Z1 (4.4) you can tap on word suggestions to get more options, including disabling automatic replacement of words. This however leaves the suggestion list and underlines misspelled words (but otherwise leaves them alone). Which leads me to believe this option might be available on stock android and just hidden in the Sense UI.
i.e.: edit: sorry, can't post links yet - you can view this screen cap at i.imgur.com/VPkl3k1.jpg?1
I often write bilingual messages and use various abbreviations and/or slang and adding these to the dictionary while fast typing is not an option in the long run .
I'd appreciate your insight into this, thanks in advance :fingers-crossed:
PS - my phone's not rooted.
Get Swiftkey https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey.
I have paid for it twice, for phone and tablet, but now its free.
Thanks for the suggestion NikosPx, but I wanna work on the stock app (I'm crazy that way ).
Ok so I did some more checking and I found that Android 4.4.3 on the Nexus 4 also has separate options for suggestions and auto correct: i.imgur.com/QTsTVrs.jpg?1 - makes me wonder why HTC would choose to hide these options in the new Sense UI
Anywho, asked HTC on Twitter, but I fear I'm not popular enough to warrant an answer, sigh

Wonder if the GPE M8 has these settings...
Having the same problem..i realise this is an old post but like you i am also crazy enough to not want any additional keyboard softwares on my mobile.
just wondering if you have found a solution to your problem in stock setttings..
Htc m8 4.4.4 not rooted and sense 6.0
Hey, sorry but no luck. I've eventually given in and switched to swiftkey keeping my hopes up for the lollipop update though.

[Q] After word prediction, prevent adding space character

Hello all,
Before M8 i owned HTC Sensation. I think at that phone word prediction was more pratical.
For example;
when i would like to write a longer word like "swimming", firstly i was typing "sw" and the phone predict me the word "swim" and for not typing all the rest letters i was clicking the "swim" word and after then i could continue directly this word. Type "ming" and voila the word "swimming"
But at M8, when i click the "swim" word the phone add automatically a space character and if i continue to typing "ming" it creates like this "swim ming" . So is there any way to prevent adding this space character ?
Somewhere in the settings for the keyboard likely. Just look around the settings.
If not, try a keyboard or two to replace it. That option is on most of them.

Keyboard to replace the LG default input

I would like to replace the LG keyboard, I find the prediction and the recognition of the trace horrible. Is there a port of the AOSP keyboard or something similar that works in LG G7? not Google Board if possible

But how can I enable the trace? It says I need to install a typing library but when I press in Install Library it says Choose Library but I don't know what I have to install
Thanks

Oh it is a good trace function what I'm interested in, in another phone that I have with AOSP keyboard it works flawless, that's what I was interesting in AOSP for G7 but I haven't been able to activate the trace in G7 neither with these options nor even with Google Keyboard. I've also tried AnySoftKeyboard that has the trace function but it's almost useless in practice. So I think I will keep using LG Keyboard, even with all its flaws it turns out it has the best trace function I've found so far (of course that does not mean it's good).
Thanks for your help :good:
I'll get my LG the next days, but i guess I'll use the old Xperia keyboard again. This is by far the best keyboard I've ever used:

Thanks for the heads-up, but I see it was last optimized for Marshmallow. I'm afraid if it could cause problems in Pie. If you're decided to install it for sure, I'd appreciate if you could give some feedback afterwards. Thanks!

I'm using this right now on Pie but will give you feedback anyway the next days on the G7
So it's working like a Charme. Still the best keyboard Imo.
I'm also using a Magisk Module to get Whatsapp Emojis systemwide (and so on the keyboard too). You can find it in the official repo.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm also using it now and yes I like it more than LG's and I think the trace works better
However it is not perfect and it has some drawbacks:
- When the word selected by the trace is not the expected, pressing delete does not immediately delete it as it does the LG keyboard, you have to delete it letter by letter
- When you type letter by letter a word that you want but it is not recognized and the keyboard replaces it by a "valid" word, if you press delete in the LG keyboard, the word that you typed is restored and you can keep writting with your word not modified. In Xperia keyboard you need to delete letter by letter the "valid" word and rewrite your word again and if it is a long word, it is replaced again and your only choice is to add it to your personal dictionary - even if you only want to use in this context and do not want it to be offered as a valid word in general
- And related to this, if you type a not recognized word and then push it to keep it in the text as it is, LG keyboard gives you the choice to add it to your personal dictionary or not, but Xperia always add it to your dictionary
But even with this, yes I prefer it

1. Yes that's true
2. After you typed a nonvalid word just press delete 1 time (to go back to the word) and then you can choose the before written nonvalid word from the upper left of the keyboard.
3. True again
