unlocked g928p other carrier roms - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+

I have an unlocked sprint edge plus on tmobile, I was wondering if I could flash a tmobile rom and not brick. I've read that other people have done this with various sprint phones and have gotten better service. Not trying to hard brick

[Q] Travelling to India, will my US S3 work?

I have the T-mobile branded (T-999) Galaxy S3. It is rooted and I am running a custom rom (Frosty Jellybean). I got the unlock code from T-mobile because I told them I will be travelling abroad (to India). So my question is: Can I just get a prepaid sim card from a mobile carrier in India and stick it in my phone and then enter the unlock code and will it work just like normal? Does anyone know if this phone is compatible with 3G or 4G networks in India for internet access? Do I need to be running any specific "international" version of a ROM, or will my custom rom work? Any advice would be appreciated (or if you can direct me to where to find such info). And before you ask, yes I did attempt to search the forums, but I got the following message..."Search is temporarily unavailable. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Thanks in advance.

You're fine. If you want to use their 3/4g Network, make sure to grab APN setting

Use the code they have you on a TouchWiz ROM. Not sure if it works with a variant of AOSP. If you have a T-999, then you cannot install an international ROM - it still doesn't change the fact that your phone is a T999.
Look up the frequency bands for India and find out if this phone will work with it 4G bands there.
Ok, thanks for the info so far.

Bobolinko, you are right that I don't know anything about APN settings. I did do a search and found how to access APN settings by going to Settings > more settings > mobile networks > access point names. Currently all I see there is the T-mobile US entry, I'm assuming you are saying that I need to hit the menu button and "+ New APN", then enter whatever info the mobile carrier in India gives me right?

I found India uses 900/1800 bands and 2100 for 3G. Minimal 4G coverage there currently. Specs for S3 show that it is compatible with all these frequencies so I assume I'm good to go if I can figure out the APN stuff.

When I travel to Europe every year all I do is just put local provider sim card and works every time. All bi do is my phone needs to be unlock and never mess with apn. I use various phones like photon, blackberry, dumb phones, my touch etc.

[Q] T mobile Note 2 on att not getting LTE

I have read many posts and think my problem is because I let them scan my IMeI number.
I have Note 2 from Walmart on T-mobile, I had them unlock the network by telling them I was going overseas. I ported the number off of it and the account closed automatically. When I get the final bill I will pay the ETF fee and all will be doen with them.
I went to at&t and opened another line for this phone and it gets the hspa+ but won't get LTE.
I have the correct apn set correctly.
Does anyone know a way I can get my Imei number off the at&t computer or another way to fix it so I can get LTE?
It looks like I need to take another AT&T LTE phone there and let them scan the number. Will it mess up someone elses phone if I use their number and they are on AT&T?
Or maybe another way I could get online and fix it?
Thanks in advance.

I was given a hint I shouldn't have let AT&T scan my IMEI number. But I don't know how to fix that,

I think I remember something about enabling AWS on the device for transitioning between carriers. I can't remember if it was tmo to at&t or vice versa. IIRC there was a thread over on the at&t xda gn2 page regarding tmo GN2 use on at&t. Teshx or Tekhd I think did something with it.
Good luck.

[Q] AT&T LTE APN issues

I recently put CM 10, and most recently,CM 11,on my P930.
One thing I can't get to work is the mobile data connection; the best it can do it seem is 3G (HSPA)
I recall the defaults in CM 10 getting HSPA+ briefly, but that was short lived.
One suspicion I have is the SIM card; this phone went missing a few months ago, so I bought a used Iphone 3GS to fill in, and I had to get a fresh SIM. Once I found the P930, I then got to rooting and modding it ( I was running it vanilla before it went missing); once I got CM 10 I then moved over the SIM. Would the fact that I used a non-LTE phone first on that particular SIM card cause this to happen? Or was I given a non-LTE SIM of some sort?
Some other things to note:
- pta APN's don't seem to work at all. I read that was axed awhile back; and my mom's Pantech Burst just has the phone APN (but it gets LTE just fine)
- phone APN's do work, up to HSPA.
Finding a clear answer on up to what the up-to-date correct APN settings for ATT is as clear as mud.... I saw pretty much 20 different combinations, and I've had varied luck on getting them to work. Suggested APN settings would really be appreciated, along with any clues on whether I need a fresh SIM or not.
A non LTE Sim card can affect ur LTE connection.

if you got a new sim a few months ago, the sim is not the issue. ATT has been issueing LTE sims for a little over a year now. A good way to tell is looking for a "24","25","27" in the middle of the iccid (sim number starting with 8091).
Double check your apns and also, make sure your data plan is set back up for the Nitro. If you still have an Iphone data plan for the 3GS, then you will need to call or go online and change your data plan back to the smartphone with lte plan for the p930.

They never changed my plan, it was set for the Nitro the whole time (since it wasn't for sure lost for good). I verified it the other day.
The sim has a 27 in the middle.
I've tried messing with the APN settings like crazy... but here's the one APN I have set (since the pta seems obsolete and didn't work):
(if not listed, it's unset)
Code:
Name: ATT Phone
APN: phone
MMSC: (removed to please anti-spam, texting does work)
MMS proxy: (see above)

APN type: default,supl,mms,hipri,dun
APN protocol: IVP4/IVP6
APN roaming protocol: IPv4/IPV6

Any of those look off?

On CM11, mine is definitely showing:
ATT LTE
pta
And preferred network type "4G (recommended)". It is working fine on LTE where there is actually support (not near my house, but in the city).

Yeah, pta under apn is a must, bit i have also had that issue with a few Rom's even with pta, and the solution that worked for me was to flash baseband.

Called in to AT&T, fixed an IMEI issue. Works fine now... the "phone" apn seemed to also pick up LTE (connection type reported as LTE 13), so I ditched the pta one.

Need some help...

So, I have an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II (SGH-I317) that has been network unlocked (using this method) and I am using a T-Mobile sim card. My first question is:
1) If I decide to flash a new ROM which build should I use? The ones made for the AT&T's Note II or for T-Mobile's Note II?
2) Since I switched to T-Mobile on 2/17/2014, I have noticed that my data connection is very limited, usually no LTE, just 4G or E, and also just drops the signal all together. Is this an issue with the APN settings or do I need to update the modem? I am not sure.
Current APN Settings are:
Name: T-Mobile US
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
User name: Not Set
Password: Not Set

MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc

MMC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: Not Set
APN type: default,supl,mms
APN Protocol: IPv4
Enable/disable APN (greyed out): APN enabled

Any help is always appreciated. Thanks,
John
Did you do the AWS activation process in the AT&T section? That may help with connectivity. Don't flash a T889 modem, *there be dragons*.
Also, change "epc" to "fast" in the APN.

Okay, so this is what I did.
Flashed Jedi Master X2 ROM from here. I asked in that thread, and they told me to select T-Mobile as the carrier when going through the AROMA installer.
Then I activated AWS from here. Now 4G/LTE is working great.... When I have a network connection. I don't know why, but I will lose all signal for about 30 seconds at a time every 1 - 2 minutes.. I have looked around, and it seems like I might need to flash a kernel. Thinking about flashing Devil's Kernal from here. I don't even know if I can do that, as for those kernels are for the SkyNote 4.3 ROM.
I really don't want to buy a new phone from TMO, so any help is good help..
I recommend you flash Agni kernel because with Devil a lot of people have phone freezing
problems.

I've already tried the T-Mobile internet and mms apn and the T-Mobile US LTE. They enabled the LTE, but couldn't download or send mms. So far that one above has worked so far. Been using it for about two hours now. Will give an update. Anyone else that sees this, I'm wondering if its possible to "rewrite" my lg g3d850 as a lg g3d851 so i can install tmobile's stock firmware on my unlocked at&t lg g3 and be able to run the phone as if it was a tmobile lg g3, ie, wifi calling, tethering, etc. I got the tethering working through the root and edit values method, just want to know if there's a way to rewrite the entire phone
One thing to consider for people reading this thread is that the AT&T version will not work for free wifi calling on the t-mobile network even with the proper APN settings. I was about to buy a brand new AT&T variant and unlock it for tmobile. But for a little more money I can buy a brand new T Mobile version that will not need to be unlocked and will work with wifi calling which is a big plus because I only have 100 minutes on my $30 a month plan

Would you be generous enough to share how you got your tmobile tethering working on the att g3? I've tried all I can think of and nothing
I have a T-Mobile LG G# on AT&T. I was not getting mms and the issue was that the APN type had spaces. I don't know how the AT&T support didn't catch that on the hour long call where they remoted into my device but note below:
My setting was
APN type: default, mms, supl, hipri, fota
I removed the spaces to match the settings below:
APN type: default,mms,supl,hipri
I know have working MMS.
Hope this helps anyone coming from T-mobile to AT&T but I'm sure it applies to any APN type setting.
Cheers.
