Hi all, I am new to XDA but have followed it for some time and successfully modified many devices. Last night, I discovered a tutorial to get fastboot enabled on the LG Volt (A Sprint phone). Feeling adventurous, I decided to follow it on the Verizon Lucid 3 (VS876) and I successfully got into fastboot and ran 'fastboot oem unlock' with a successful return message. I also ran 'fastboot oem device-info' and I have posted a picture below with the results, which are looking good!!! If this helps anyone for any potential development, that would be great because I bought this device with high hopes of getting Cyanogenmod but so far development is nonexistent. Here is the article I followed:

I could try to help however I can, for the most part you just have to follow that guide and it will unlock the bootloader. If you haven't rooted already you can root with Kingroot, available from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/one-click-root-tool-android-2-x-5-0-t3107461
You will need to do this before you can start doing any unlocking, although it is sort of pointless to unlock now because there are no ROMs made yet and I am not familiar with this type of coding, but I am going to try to learn.

Does the lg volt have any custom roms? because if the bootloader method really did work, and the lg volt and lg lucid 3 are supposed to be the same phone just differnt carriers, then shouldnt the lg volts roms work for the lg lucid 3 if there are any?

The volt does seem to have custom roms, however they are not necessarily the same phone, they are just set up the same. I noticed the guide for the volt says that you have to delete the partition for Download Mode which causes the phone to panic and go into fastboot, and it just so happens I was lucky and found out the Lucid 3 is set up the same way and I was able to unlock it this way. There would be too many complications, like verizon using a different cell modem than sprint or who knows what else. I'll keep you posted if anything happens. At the moment, it's too complicated for me to go any further without a whole lot of learning, so hope exists for Lucid 3 owners, maybe
More great news guys! The LG Volt's recovery (TWRP 2.8.1.0) boots and operates on this phone! I flashed it using fastboot and it is working with touch and I am also able to browse my files in TWRP, which leads me to believe these phones are nearly identical. I am in the process of taking photos of this in action if anyone cares to see them I will be happy to show them.
Lastly, I tried flashing a rom from the volt and got stuck at the boot logo for cyanogenmod. So close! Thankfully I made a full backup in twrp which restored perfectly but this proves the phone can be flashed successfully!
Well, I have decided to jump ship to the LG G2 for my modding needs but I hope someone finds a use for my tinkering, thanks for reading everyone!!!

Dude, thats dope nice find right there. I flashed the 2.8.1.0 twrp volt r2 recovery via flashify and it works like a charm. Thanks !
Sorry to bring up a dead thread. I can second that the bootloader unlock works and the volt 2 TWRP works as well.
Is there any known CM11 or any version of CyanogenMod for this phone? I only found a few "fake/shady" links.

So a few weeks ago I purchased an Optimus G E973 here in Canada from a guy who had posted an ad on Kijiji. He claimed that his company had bought a bunch of Optimus Gs but ended up switching to Blackberry for their email system or something. The phone was brand new with the USB cable and outlet adapter, but no box was included. All of the protective stickers were still intact, but when I peeled the thin IMEI barcode sticker off the bottom right side, the plastic is engraved/stamped with *NOT FOR SALE*. The phone was "factory unlocked" and I had no issues activating it with Virgin. So does anyone have any idea why this engraving is there?
Now I have just decided to root but unfortunately using Bin4ry's root restore method does not work, as it just hangs at the "Running..." stage and never reboots. Heres some screenshots with software information that came on the phone:

Last thing I should mention is that when benchmarking I am getting a little lower scores than I should be. It seems like the processors is underclocked to ~1.2GHz? Heres some screens from AnTuTu:
So I hope someone might have some idea why it was stamped and if this is whats causing issues with rooting.
edit: sorry for image links I cannot post outside links with a new account
You have some kind of a display model
My guess is that it is running a modified software with extra security
After all Binary s root exploits a timing delay thru adb, which is probably patched in the firmware your phone is running
Note that binary s root method cannot be used on LG s latest firmware
Your best bet is to use KDZ and load the old stock firmware
Follow the guide for unblinking the phone found under general forums

I'm not sure but what I do know is that it was defnitely brand new and never used when I got it.
Now I am having a hell of a time reverting back to the stock firmware. LGMobile Support Tool says "Software update is not supported for this model", even though it recognizes the phone as an LGE973AT running E97310G. And when I tried using my IMEI with both the tool and url mentioned in this thread I still couldn't get any firmware from LG's servers. So I finally grabbed the Bell E97310F KDZ from this post, but when I try flashing it using the unbricking method the updater reports that it can't find the phone. Now I guess I am out of luck for now

My phone is doing the same thing. Just hanging after "restore my data" is pressed
I have the same phone rooted with unlocked bootloader. You have to downgrade from E97310g to E97310f, (mine came with E97310h Bell)
Direct Download link for Bell E97310f Kdz [E97310F_00.kdz] (915mb)
after used RootOptimusG-English.rar to root the device.
Then followed Project FreeGee to unlock the bootloader
hope this helps.
I just got a used E980. idk what he's done to it. but appeared vanella. I tried rooting, from the proper thread with the right files. suposedly right for the e980. so I tried to just reboot recovery, but all i get is an android with a red triangle and an ! inside it of.
the error i get when trying to root is -

yeah i can't get into TWRP, or the other one. it keeps giving me dude with red !. version is jz054k.
I did a full wipe and install of an origonal build of the software, was able to root it sucesfully now. but still can't get into the bootloader menu. tried cammand line to tell it to boot into it, tried rom manager. no dice. just keep getting little dude. i remember seeing a thread about him, i don't know what he means :\
The bootloader on these phones are locked. You are able to install the custom recovery only because Freegee can bypass the bootloader.

yeah i got around it and managed to do it. didnt much like the rom, know any clean roms that are more stock like? i really didnt mind stock. but i want 4.4 or better than stock.
Honestly, your best option is to wait for the kitkat update to hit in a month or so. You get what you're looking for in one stock update. Hassle free. That's what I'm doing. The more I learn about this phone, the more I am hesitant to flash anything to it. Mostly because there are so many variants for this phone. Everything can't be compatible so why risk it.

Its the kitkat Korean update, I'm using it on my e980 , pretty sweet
yeah i agree, i havn't found many rom's i like. ive found roms always fail after awhile. so idk. they always bloat up and start to fail than they need the update to be stable blah blah than your reinstalling all apps and backing **** up. idk, was just looking at what phones offer these days for modding but nothing seems to of changed. this phone inparticular is a rather unstable device none stock, seems to be allota issues and a good reason to have bootloader locked.
Un locking the bootloader only allows for custom kernels on any given device. In some cases you will get greater stability. But for the most part you will still have glitches, performance decreases, etc. because you are STILL flashing custom Roms. And in allot of cases your phone will go completely nuts because custom kernels have their glitches too. So in short, sometimes, Custom Rom=glitches. custom kernel=glitches. That all adds up to a totally unstable Rom. Keep in mind all devices are not the same. What runs great on his might crash your phone completely. Just my 2 cents....lol

It suppose to be a prototype/lab-only device with only 4GB of RAM ( picture when it still alive from last owner)
Matte-black back make this phone more and more awesome so i decided to buy it & try to unbrick it
but got no luck, the problem is the device is not be reconigzed by my PC - windows 7 64bit- that should be works fine.
tried every driver from this thread, still no luck :https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/guide-mega-unbrick-guide-for-a-hard-bricked-oneplus-3.452634/

once it appear as QHSUSB_BULK, then disappear
last owner said : he is on stock mashmallow oxygen rom, install this rom without any problems :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...device-development/rom-freedomos-1-0-t3409348
but got bootloop when install a nougat-based freedom OS ,( it changed the boot splash )
it will boot a few second then shut down
My current is : only boot a few seconds then shut down,no custom recovery, can enter fastboot but no adb/fastboot with pc, bootloader unlocked.
That's all i can do now, ran out of idea, should it be a hardware issue ? ( ex : bad usb C connectors inside phone itself? )
.
Anyone have ideas ? Please help me, rescue this beautiful phone
Thanks all.

Considering that is factory/lab experimental device, i don't think you should flash a production build made for 6GB ram version. If you hadn't created a nandroid backup of the ROM your device came with, you are pretty much screwed.
Also, why in the world would you spend money on a experimental device when you know there will be no support whatsoever.

Hmm, if the decision was based on purely aesthetics and looks, i still don't understand why would he attempt to flash the production software on this version. Anyways, i hope a more technically advanced user would be able to help. My knowledge is really limited when it comes to bricked phones.
well my opinion is if it was an experimental model that was released to a very few. then that guy must have been part of the technical crew or software programming crew. so if he messed it up and cant fix it....hmmm i am starting to become worried here

Howdy y'all,
I got a LG K10 (K425 at&t USA) from a friend of mine and unlocked it to use on t-mobile. I went to tether it today and got an authorization error. I decided I wanted to root it, get rid of all of the at&t bloatware still on it and get the tethering and mobile hotspot working. My question is twofold:
1) Is there just a standard, carrier neutral, stock ROM for this device? If I want to get rid of carrier bloatware I don't want to just throw another carrier's bloatware on it.
2) Has anyone had any success rooting this phone? I have tried "adb reboot bootloader", LGUP in download mode, and LG Flash Tool to no avail. I have rooted other devices before, some were more troublesome than others, but this one is stumping me. Any suggestions?
Thank you!

Damnit... I certainly hope we get root or an unlocked bootloader soon! I mean, I like what LG's done, I'd just much rather be using stock, or at the very least, a rom that doesn't include all of the AT&T bloatware.

I don't own a AT&T K10. I have a carrier neutral K10. Till now we have bootloader unlock, root, TWRP and custom ROM (Coming Soon!) for T-Mobile/MetroPCS. Do you have Android 5.1.1 firmware for your phone. We could do something about it if we have the firmware

I was researching the same topic (where to get K425 ROM that I can root OR downgrade to 5.1) and found the following link:
http://giaiphapdidong.net/san-pham/lg-k10-k425-att-rom-userdebug-v09a-v07a-rooted/
It is in a foreign language, but with google translator I was able to understand that this site provides two rooted firmwares for AT&T K425. Unfortunately, when you download the .TOT files you see that the archive is passworded.
Anyone else tried those files?

Did you unlock critical? One of the messages at the very beginning says unable to flash critical. Sounds like that's the reason that it's failing. If you haven't unlocked critical, and you're going to try it, be aware that it's going to wipe your data.
Secondly, did you try just flashing the bootloader from the January update by itself first?

There are multiple step-by-step guides here on how to do just this. Suggest you take a step back and read one or two. There are two separate unlock commands to use and from your photo you did not complete that. Secondly, it looks like you may be using an outdated version of the adb/fastboot binaries. Lastly you don't flash an OTA with flash-all. If you are attempting to sideload an OTA, you use the "adb sideload" command with the phone in Recovery, not flash-all in fastboot mode. At this point, you should probably update your adb/fastboot binaries, download the full factory image (not OTA) and flash it instead. Slow down and read more.
Damn Sir! Thank you very much for the help!

Not blaming anyone but instead just using your post for calling out there are what seems like dozens of variations for doing the same few tasks on this device. There are a couple really good tutorials that are either 100% or were until something like TWRP of magisk changed something. At the end of the day there are a few givens that will eventually shake out into something like the Heisenberg thread over on the 6P device.
For anyone reading this, unlock critical if you have not, install a custom kernel if you have touch issues in TWRP, really really really read up on the few custom roms that just hit as they add a few variables that most of us have never experienced, make a list of things you install as you do it. All too often people spend countless time and effort helping someone with a boot loop only to find out something not mentioned was in play. Poor steps were attempted from some other thread only to not help or made it worse or different. Examples of this would be xposed, custom kernel, any zip file mods you flashed, viper, Dolby, substratum, you get the idea. We all wanna help and we all need help at some point. Let us try to make the game as easy to play as possible. Flash on brothers and sisters!!
