Well i know there's a lots of reviews about this already and since these devices came out very early already. I want to ask if the microphone got better than the s6 since i watched a lot of reviews in youtube and comparisons between those two devices. As i see microphone is pretty bad compared to the S6. OIS On some videos , G4 sports better than the S6 but for the most part the S6 does a better job than the G4. i'm really confused which one to buy actually because this is going to be my phone for at least 2-3 years or so. And battery life matters a lot also to me. They say S6 lasts longer than the G4 even though it has bigger battery. and i know it's removable......
main questions that need to be answered.
- Did LG improved microphone througu updates?
- Can i tweak the microphone quality through apps?
- Is OIS Really better on the S6?
- Is battery better on the G4?
- How much SOT do you get in daily usage ? / In photography?
I'm also asking these because i am mostly going to use it as photography and videography. hope you guys help me out which one to buy.
Thanks
-xDroidZz
Microphone on mine is great, don't know what issues you mean, but on my old S6 i got random scratching and popping noises when recording video.
As for OIS, on the S6 I didn't even realise it had it it's so suttle, on the G4 it's miles better. Low light photography on the G4 thanks to the OIS is amazing. Iso 50 and 1 second shutter time, gives amazing results without even needing to bother with tripods etc.
Battery life is better on the S6, I got an hour more SOT on my S6. I get between 3 and 5 on the G4 depending on what i'm doing, games suck battery like there's no tomorrow. I can burn the whole battery on a game in 1 and a half hours. S6 gave me consistent battery around 5 or more hours SOT regardless of what I was doing. Although you can replace the battery on this so easy, don't worry.
I think G4 vs S6 is a pretty user preferences battle:
S6:
Little smaller battery , premium materials, smaller but no removable battery, no sd.
G4:
Bigger, removable battery, micro sd, good signal strenght and maybe better night shot.
in the recent updates G4 microphone is noticeably better

I'd agree on that one! Depends on what your preferences are For me, I decided to stick to the G4, because I need a lot of data space on my phone (tons of music).
But if you like the superior design of Samsung you could wait for the S7 next year. There are rumours, that it might be having an SD-Card-Slot, so I'd prefer the S7 over the G4. But this is really a matter of taste. The G4 has an awesome camera, I have no problems with heating or the battery life and an SD-Slot. I'm super satisfied with it (owned a Note 4 before and I don't regret buying the G4).
Microphone is okay, too. So it really depends on your preferences:
Lots of space, good camera, latest updates: G4
Superior design and good software and best hardware: S6

I'd like to ask for some opinions on the subject. Buying a new phone but I can't decide which one is better. LG or Samsung?
I don't really care about the design, both look ok to me.
Screen size difference is minimal and also not very important.
Buttons on the back- Is it ok?
This will be half business half personal phone so it must work and must have good radio. How's the signal? Connection speeds? Camera and music playback are somewhat important. As well as roaming capabilities. I can see that G3 is missing some of the LTE bands that S5 has. Any other issues or thoughts?

If it's going to be half for work the get the s5 since it had better battery life
I would honestly wait till Sunday to see whats new with HTC and Samsung.
I love the g3 but honestly I miss that oled screen. Probably going to jump to the s6 if the exynos processor doesn't have to many app incompatibility.
I think they are both great phones... I have done a lot of comparisons with the G3 camera and the S5... In the exact same settings, the G3 camera hands down is better. The S5 can get to the same quality pictures, but only with a lot of manipulation. My sister had the S5, so we were duplicating pictures one day and night. So if Camera is something that matters, you might want to take that into consideration.
s6 did not come out yet, and honestly I don't see any point in paying a couple of hundred bucks more for it no matter what it is. OS will be just the same and hardware makes no difference at all. I won't notice any difference while reading email or looking at a map so one of these two is good enough.
My other phone is S4 and I've had it for almost 2 years and perfectly happy with it . I'll probably get at least another year out of it.
My wife had the S5 and misses her S4. I prefer the G3 over the S5 because it feels more responsive.
Just test them both in the store and go with what feels right.. They're both good as far as I can tell.
I've had both...
and I am using the G3 now. The S5 had significantly better bluetooth capability (particularly has the aptx profile for streaming - LG falls short in that capability). I'm on T-Mobile and it seems that the G3 has a much better radio/antenna. Also, the S5 fingerprint scanner was terrible and required multiple swipes sometimes to unlock. And Touchwiz seems to have more bloat (relative since LG has lots too). You'd have to root to get the full potential of either one and get rid of unwanted crapware. The killer for me is the significantly better LG camera w/laser focus - it blows the Samsung camera away in speed of focus.
And if you're going to root, there is much more development activity with a Samsung phone than with LG although there are some good ROM's here.

I'm on the same boat as you.. lol.. I wish the g3 was a bit more bright. next to Amoled, it looks like im running 50% brightness.
Hi guys, i have a friend who bought G3 not long ago, and he want to replace it with Galaxy S6. let's assume if he would, outside of lower battery, does it really hold any substantial benefit over G3?

Yes
S6:
Better processor
Better RAM
Better Software
Better Camera
Better build quality
I heard the s6 is fragile compared to g3

What t-shock wrote is mostly true if we compare technical specifications, but hardware benefits are not noticeable in everyday use, and software quality is matter of individual taste..

I own both devices and I will say that s6 feels a bit better that the g3
Screen and camera is the main differences
PS You're absolutely right
My cousin came from the states a few days ago and he has the s6 edge i have the s5 and g3. To be honest i didnt saw that much difference. Well the screen on edge rocks and the camera ummm. Took a pic with my s5 and ne with the edge the same position 4 seconds of difference and i cant say theres a difference. Yeah its new but for me its just that.

I'm looking at going backwards actually. From S6 to G3 (or even G4).
"Stupid!" Some would say....
"Ahh, I see what you're doing there..." others would suggest...
I've never had an iPhone (outside of work) and never will. Absolutely hate them. If I want to blend in with the mainstream 'zombie' public, I'd buy one...and so, I pledged allegiance to the Samsung Galaxy flagship on the release of the S1. I Loved the SGS1; thought the S2 (and S2 in 4G) was brilliant in every way and the best in the series. I didn't like the bubble-like screen on S3 (you cant use a screen protector properly) and the S4, S5 and S6 were getting bigger, heavier, more powerful (killing batteries quicker) and lacking in key features that I considered "important" as a user.
My complaints:
1. S6 build. It's advantageously a disadvantage...
The best thing about Samsung for me, was it wasn't Apple. It was on the andrio0d platform and the phone internally and externally was customizable to how the user saw fit. Now, you can argue the battery-encased in the shell, lack of SD card expandability and "all metal/glass" surroundings is great (you are probably an Apple fan), but to me it works against the S6....customization lacked big time. Let's not forget the S5 was dust/water resistant for a plastic back/removable battery and all ports on phone weren't covered! Also, keep these stupid nano sims for the iPhones, please...We have micro now #smallenough
2. Power/Battery:
I don't "multi-task overload" and usually only have a few apps running at the same time. Not really a big gamer outside of the occasional Angry Birds, yet I was STAGGERED learning how much my battery dropped from LIMITED use. 10 minutes looking at my phones messages and emails and 5% was gone in the blink of an eye. I can't get a full day out of it and I'm the furtherest thing from what would be considered a phone-a-holic. So again, such advantages of this phone in it's ability to cope with the most demanding apps, and graphics in high end mobile games, is biting it in the ass as its OVERLY using too much of the available battery.
3. FM radio
If you're like me, this makes you laugh the S4 and S5 had FM radio chips installed, but Samsung de-activated them. Why?! Who the f*ck knows. They present you with a ferrari and remove the engine...kinda makes it a moot point. I want to listen to live sports on radio...I can't do that unless I can tap into specific 3rd party apps and in some cases, certain times/streams aren't even available....use a LIVE FM RDS radio and it is. The S4-6+ missing this makes zero sense.
I could go on, but I won't. I will admit that in the hand, the phone feels fantastic. As did the S5. The processor of CPU/GPU are far superior, the camera is better and ultra-responsive, the UI might be new to you if you're not familiar, but easy to use. 4G speeds are SUPER fast, WIFI connectivity a breeze, but the more Samsung liken their phones to Apples and cut out common features and shorten battery lifespans, the quicker they will lose customers like me. If you add in the extra horsepower, compensate with either a bigger battery, or more efficient battery sucking less power.
For me, the G3 or G4's camera of 13 or 16MP will suffice...I'm a photographer with a great DSLR, a phone will never replace it and the RAW shooting option on the G4 (possibly G3) is a great option. The phone is a little BIG for my liking, but again, that's LG trying to copy the latest Iphone sizes for you...the GB RAM and storage are on par with market leaders at the moment and the option to use your own battery, manually reset the phone, add a SDHC card for photos/video (particular for RAW images) are just more reasons why I'll go for the option that gives you greater flexibility.
RoOSTA
Really interesting views and thoughts in this thread, gonna jump in....
Ive owned all the Samsung Devices (except the S6), IMO, samsung are pulling an Apple and the prices are starting to creep up, S6 or IPhone 6, Iphone 6+ or S6 Edge, yes its starting to happen.. Samsung are pulling their way back after the S5 flop and boy, are they letting everyone know about it.. oh and charging for it as well
Now that we have 5.0 L, I personnaly think the G3 is awesome. Its had it problems.. the OS being laggy, which Removing Smart Notice cures, the camera taking time to mature and lack of basic manual controls (EV, ISO, WB, Manual focus, Bracketing, Shutter speed etc) and LG still havent fixed the headphones hiss / distortion even after 2 massive updates (4.4 & 5.0), although there are workarounds, but I still love the G3.. why...
Beautiful Big Screen, Great Camera with one of the best OIS systems around (even better than Nokia at times), beautiful audio, great button placement, lovely sturdy robust build (even though its plastic), nice Themes and OS cutomisation, and now under Lollipop (20h), a great OS experience... lets just say I ditched my HTC One M9 for the G3.
Until they release a Tizen powered device, Ill never buy Samsung again.. because no matter how much they slim it down and dress it up.. Touchwiz is still Touchwiz and its like a kids cartoon. The camera looks impressive however, and now theyve added OIS, it seems impressive..
IMO if I was you, Ide get the G4, which is released on the 28th, which is much cheaper than an S6.
I can't decide which one to get... I'm mostly concerned about the battery life and camera.
Has anyone used both phones ? What is the battery life and camera like on the note 4 compared to the lg g4 and which one is less laggy?, I'm interested in the exynos version of note 4...
I only have the Snapdragon version of the Note 4. The battery performance is comparable, but I havent had the G4 long enough, nor do I have root to fully debloat the G4. I say its fairly even as of now.
Camera on the G4 spanks the Note 4. Note really worth the comparison especially in low light.
I like the Note 4 build quality better.
I agree with on every point there, the G4 is not really a huge improvement over the Note 4.
I have not really had chance to play with the camera much but hope to this weekend.
Hopefully we will get root for this device soon

Depends on your choice... I really like the note 4 due to the exceptional battery I get... Around 5.5 6hrs of sot.... But I hate the fingerprint scanner and camera is good.... With the lg g4... You get a better camera and almost same battery .... But the camera is very good... Won't replace my DSLR anytime soon.... ?
im most likely trading in my note 4 , cant stand not having root, and most likely LG G4 will be rooted; - also i dont really like the two-handed design, i'd rather get a lil smaller and i think ill be able to one-hand it.
Tough one. With the G4 you have a better camera but in saying that the Note 4s is excellent anyway. Battery life with the Note 4 is better and it has a more powerful GPU than the G4 perhaps leading to poorer framerates in games and stutter in UI on the G4. The Note 4 also has Gorilla Glass 4 Vs GG3 on the G4. If you want a top class camera then the G4 is your phone, otherwise there's really not much difference.
I am exactly in the same boat....
But as I read all around, battery life is really bad on the G4, I think I will order a Note 4 on Monday.

i was thinking on taking the note 4 but i got to this conclusions:
features:
first g4 got FM radio note 4 does not.
second the note 4 got kind of finger print sensor not really good one but he has that and the S pen which for me is useless.
Winner : note 4
Price:
in my country the note 4 is about 50$ more expansive than the G4 not the leather version its not much but the g4 is still cheaper...
Winner: g4
Build/premium feel:
the gorilla glass number does not really matter if you end up putting a good glass screen protector on it and lg claims that the slim arc design is more durable, dont know if that is true.
the premium feeling - if you are like me you are going to put your phone in a case so it does not really matter how it feels.
Winner: tie
multimedia:
as it appears to be G4 camera is better but as you said they both good, speaker almost the same preformance, screen its tricky but i am not going to say that the note 4 does not look good i just dont like the amoled color approach.
Winner: some say the headphone sound on the note4 is better so this is a: tie
interface:
if there is anything that i hate about touchwiz and i know its stupid its the appdrawer there is no simple search button (i know you can search but i just want a button on top just like HTC Sony and LG)
touchwiz is still laggy LG ux 4 is really nice some handful features in my opinion
Winner: g4
handling and operating:
after holding the g flex2 and the note 4 today i can tell you for sure that the note 4 is not a comfy phone at all (not to hold or to operate)
the holding - every phone with a curved back will be always more comfortable to hold than a flat one.
the operating - the screen 5.5 vs 5.7 not that much diffrence but... the flex got onscreen buttons while the note 4 does not... so flex is somthing like 5.2 without the buttons so.. 5.2 vs 5.7 it is a big diffrence ,so it is much easier to reach the buttons on the g4 than on the note 4 and you can hide them on any app you like on settings...
and another point that it might just be me but...(i dont know how to decribe so just ,you know listen to the story)with the note 4 your are surfing on chrome moving between pages press back go to another website press recent apps button go to check emails again rencet button back to chrome want to check the wether click home button and than ahhhhhhh its a physical button why? why do i suddenly need to add more pressure , it just ruins the user experience, and it's like that in all Samsung devices why they didnt just go with touch buttons all the way..
Winner: g4
benchmark(SD 805 VERSION):
note 4 benchmarks are slightly better in the gpu department only which is where the g4 is more efficient this is why he almost never gets hot..
but on reality the note 4 still suffers from touchwiz lags as the g4 on the reviews fly with out a problem
Winner : g4
updates:
i think you can count on LG in that department because they want to prove things.. and because the note 4 is almost half year old if not older i am not counting on fast updates.
Winner : g4
battery life :
from the battery thread i got this the g4 got better battery life than G3/S6 and avarge SOT is 4-6 hours which is pretty decent and it will last you a full day under moderate use and got better and from what i read the note 4 SOT is 6-8 (running on KK) it is more but if you really want that 2 hours more SOT you can get a future zerolemon or mugen power extended battery(with the same dimensions of the original one ) you might be getting a closer to same SOT as the note 4 .
any way in my country you are getting a free extra battery and a battery charger free with the phone so....
Winner: note4
(i do think that the g4 will get an update to polish things up)
summary:
g4:8

so i will be going to get the g4
sorry for my bad english i hope i helped in anyway...

I just traded in my note 4 for t mobile g4. I'm not going to lie, the note is an awesome phone. I was personally just not a fan of touchwiz. It has some nice functionality and the spen is sweet but there was a lot of lag and it was just a hair to big whereas the g4 is a perfect size and fits my hands. Either way you can't go wrong, both are great phones. I think if I didn't have jump1 with T-Mobile I would have definitely stuck with the note....

The question I personally have to ask myself is as I already have the Note 4 is it worth the extra £500 for a G4. The answer i find is, no its not. The G4 just doesn't have a massive advantage over the Note 4. If it was a brand new purchase I'd have to seriously consider a G4 but there's just not enough for me to shell out another £500 for a G4 when I already have a phone which is pretty much on par.

With root you can do a lot. I couldn't live without apps like Viper4Android or disable certain apps and services that cause battery drain and monitor what is causing the drain. You can also install Ad blockers, debloat your Rom and ultimately with an unlocked bootloader install new Roms and kernels. With root you can do a lot. I couldn't live without apps like Viper4Android or disable certain apps and services that cause battery drain and monitor what is causing the drain. You can also install Ad blockers, debloat your Rom and ultimately with an unlocked bootloader install new Roms and kernels. not to mention Xprivacy is crucial too!!! - love root, need root, its ashame companies are taking it away from us for "security" reasons, BS...i rooted my original Droid, still own it, and never had any "security" issues, only security issues is google cant steal my info as easily...
I have had the Note 4 since launch and is my favorite device purchased to date. Got to mess with the G4 last week and really like it. Overall, I prefer the Note 4 for three key reasons. Much better battery life (over two hours SOT, based on all reviews that compared), no nav bar and the Gear VR integration. Even without Gear VR I would prefer the Note 4, but if the Note 4 was not an option, the G4 would be my second choice since the S6 with no battery or sd option IMO is too Apple-like. The G4 would be a better option to me.
Speaking of VR, I wonder how the slight curve will impact VR set usage? Seems it could cause an ever so slight hourglass shaped distortion (maybe not enough to bug?).
hopefully my g4 gets here Wednesday and i can do a comparison against note 4 and g4

Battery life is significantly better on the Note 4, but if carrying a spare battery or not out all day, no harm no foul.
Added: Based on Anandtech and other tech reviews, the display is not as power efficient as the Note display, so not sure how the battery life can be improved much on the G4. It does not seem to be
a case of rogue apps burning in the background, but per reviews mainly to do with the display tech. It is MUCH better than the G3's, but still apparently just as power thirsty.
The display is the biggest weight for power of average usage for devices.

I'm always in the market for the latest and greatest tech and had every flagship last year. Aside from the S6 which is a no-go for me due to the no sd slot and removable battery, the Note 4 (IMO) can't really be beaten at the moment. That will probably change later this year though. The only thing that would tempt me to the G4 is the camera but with its other downsides like locked bootloader, poorer battery and subpar GPU, it's just not enough.

Unless the Note 5 has a 4K display (for Gear VR use) and still has battery and sd options, I will happily stick with the Note 4. That presumes of course a 4K display is somehow power efficient (perhaps 4K mode for Gear VR and 1440p for everything else). I think though that Samsung is going to lose marketshare to the G4 and will mainly impact the S6. Really think Samsung screwed up with the S6 and actual sales appears to support this. Key differentiaion was the battery and sd option, but Samsung KILLED it and likely their chance of market improvement.
If only the G4 had the same power efficiency as the Note 4 display, it would be about "perfect". Not rooting or tweaking is going to help the display.
idk if this is the right place to ask. My apologies if it is. I'm looking for a new phone to get and well, like the title says, which one is the better bet? I think i should state which aspects of a phone are actually important to me and which are not. I don't really care much for the "premium feel in the hand" and I'd as easily take the g4 as I'd take an S6. I'd rather have the removable battery and the SD card slot but not having them isn't a deal breaker. Performance, well, is the most important part of the phone for not only me, and i don't think I'm wrong to say, everyone. I'm not going to mention the camera because from what I've heard, you can't go wrong with either one. Battery life isn't a big deal for me. I don't mind having to plug in the phone during the day. And the biggest of the bunch is the developer support. Let me just say this now, it is a MASSIVE deal for me. I would never buy a phone without knowing if it would have support from developers. I slap on CM as soon as i get a phone and i know that CM won't be available as the devices are quite new but as soon as they arrive, I'll be one of the firsts to flash them. I've had bad experiences with touchwiz in the past so I think the CM part was worth mentioning as S6 uses an exynos chipset and there has never been much development for exynos variants of samsung's previous phones. This phone is going to be a 2-4 year investment for me so i want to know which one will be the better phone. Again, I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask. Your opinions are very appreciated.
Get G4 with blind eye. You wont go wrong. As you say you are going to use it for long term, s6 battery is going to be dead and its hard to replace it. G4, got awesome camera. After a year or two if anything happen to battery (i bet it will not though) you can just get another one.
Performance is at best on G3 and G4 too. I wouldnt have switch to G4 if it didnt have best camera.
Lg is unlocking bootloaders themself, so sooner or later you will get root and all stuff. If you are out of space you can add as much as you can. Not like s6 , go on cloud or get another phone.
Im gonna go,ahead and say the G4 my mom has the s6 and honestly it sucks Wifi is always cutting in and out and even when she is on 4g that seems to,be a little on the wonky side as well now mind you it's a verizon s6 and I have the g4 and can say I've ran into no issues yet with it

My Verizon S6 has been running without issues. Both are great devices and the OP can't go wrong with either choice.
Battery life between the two has been pretty much the same for me. Both cameras are obviously great and it's hard for me to say which I prefer. When it comes to software, I lean towards Touchwiz since it just seems a bit more polished overall, but the software is really subjective.
As mentioned already, a positive about the G4 is the removable battery. Since the OP plans to use the phone for a while, the battery is a lot easier to replace on the G4. No need to send it to Samsung or a third party to replace the battery of the S6 with a new one later down the road. This isn't a concern for me since I keep my devices for a short time, but it may be something to consider.

I dont know about your usage but my roomate got S6 and he says its horrible for battery.
S6 camera is more saturated and more colorful then reality.
@OP, Both solid phones. In terms of overall performance, the S6 is better. Trust me I owned both devices and the first thing I noticed the moment I turned on my G4 and start using it is that its not as smooth as the S6. The G4 has better battery life and the removable battery is huge.

Here's some sample screenshots of my battery life for both devices.
Galaxy S6
LG G4
Not the most detailed, but it gives you an idea of how long it lasts between charges and SOT. I have yet to own a Lollipop device with battery life that impresses me (including the Nexus 6). There are people out there with both devices that have reported better battery life and crazy SOT, but these are my usual results.

Basically my same experience with the performance. My S6 is running encrypted and it's still smoother than the G4. I wouldn't call the G4 laggy, but there's just something about the S6 that provides a better software experience.
Both are great devices depending on what you value more. I think s6 has higher chances to be future proof because it already got fingerprint reader and great processor, while g4 processor is already outdated from my point of view. Also s6 feels better built, overall more complete experience. I have both, my g4 sits on my desk.

S6
Pros: speed, aesthetics, better software in general
Cons: Battery can be bad if not tuned right, WiFi isn't incredibly strong, storage can be an issue for some, camera images over-saturated and over-sharpened IMO
G4
Pros: Buttons on back (seriously, I kind of hate buttons on the side now. Subjective; YMMV), Better camera control, more ameliorating images, screen size, sd slot
Cons: Little bit thick & heavy, battery life could be better, squared edges are a bit unwieldy, software a bit clunky (but a huge improvement over the G3), somewhat sluggish compared to what a 2015 flagship should be
Well, seems as if G4 is the deal for me. Appreciation for everyone who presented their opinions :good:
One more thing, if we were to ignore the replaceable battery, would the s6 beat the g4? And will CM roms available for the S6 considering the Exynos processor?

That seems like a big "if", of course.
But, IF, and if the S6 also had SD, I would definitely consider it, personally.
Though the combination of a smallish battery that is also not replaceable kinda makes me nervous, even ignoring storage aspects. Batteries degrade with time, and I want to keep my new phone at least 2 years. So if battery life started out iffy, what will it be like in a year and a half?
The S6 Active would make me feel better, you're at least using a much larger battery.

Verstuurd vanaf mijn LG-H815 met Tapatalk
Also it depends on the variant one is going to use. Out of the box Verizon's S6 has European LTE bands active and sim unlocked while the Verizon G4 only really has LTE bands for the Americas.
I probably would have gone with a European G4 to use on ATT as it has American and European bands but since I am stuck on Verizon the S6 made more sense. The S6 is fast and very smooth. Someone suggested it might be faster because it does not have to read and write to an external card.

@dontpannic In the sense that is getting hot with normal usage! At least mine does!

@ione2380 I would be inclined to evaluate what apps you have installed/running - I got 4 hours of SOT yesterday with quite heavy use and the phone was still pretty cool. Warm on some more intensive things but not hot. My S4 was worse!
@dontpannic 10 minutes of pinterest or buzzfeed and it gets hot or downloding 2 bigger apps from playstore. I have just a couple of apps installed. Try playing plants vs. Zombies 2. My phone gets extremely hot after 5 min. of playing that game!

Here is what I'd say based on my limited experience with G4 so far, if you want best camera currently in market and a very strong device with amazing app support. There is nothing better than G4 right now. Yes things will change in a year but by that time G5 may be out. So you never know. I've used iPhone from 4 to 5S. Moved to Lumia 1520 basically for camera. And now on G4 - primarily because of camera. Its solid device and don't forget to get 128GB Lexar microSD. It rocks this phone with performance.
How do you guys like the Robin? How is the battery life. Audio quality on headphones , and the cameras? Oh and also how does Snapchat look on it ? Thanks ! Currently have the mate 8. The design on the Nextbit is what I like
@jordy787 - Hey there, thanks for considering us! I'm really happy with how our camera turned out. It used to be quite slow, but we've made huge improvements! Regarding audio quality, I 'd say for my Bose headphones, I'm really enjoying it. Some people have mentioned some Bluetooth connectivity problems to headsets, but that's been on rare occasions. My wife uses Snapchat all the time and has a good time. Robin is an awesome device and we hope you'll like it too!

Thanks for the reply! That's cool that you guys are on XDA haha. Is there any updates coming out that give better battery life ? Heard it's not the best
Yep, I'm here a bunch. Actually our team is working on a battery improvement update for Q4. Some people aren't impressed with battery life, but I'm getting about 3.5-4 hours of SOT with medium usage. My network quality is for the most part good, and i'm on Wi-Fi mostly. I don't take a lot of pictures, and mostly just hang out on Reddit.
Main complainsts: weak GPS lock on.
Outside of that, it's been 5x better than my previous 5X =)
The Robin is awesome.. point blank! For what it is it's amazing.. there is a few flaws of course! But doesn't all phones have flaws? My main issues with this phone?
1. There does not seem to be a lot of support yet..
2. There is literally like no cases for it haha.
Other than that this phone was made for my hands.. best phone I've used in.. ever.. this is coming from someone that has built roms for the Nexus devices for years.. I will not be getting a nexus this year.. why? The Robin has landed in the nest and I don't see if going anywhere until the Nextbit 2 phone if and when it comes out I'll be one of the first buyers!

Smartphones have gotten so good that we now tend to focus on whats wrong with the phone instead of whats great about it. We used to want good cameras, good screen, good built quality and decent battery life. Nowadays most phones come out the box with all these checked off, so we then start to be picky and choosy and whatnot. Most Android phones now come with everything that you will need to get you through the day. So really think about what it is that is most important to you. You can go out and spend $500+ for a GREAT camera phone, or another one that has all kind of added features and mods. The NBR is attempting to stray way from that in my eyes, and thats what caught my attention.
I bought me and my wife one each used on Swappa for $215 each, hers arrived yesterday and in the 5 minutes that i got to play with it, I was VERY impressed with it. I cant wait to get mine tomorrow and then i can update this, but honestly its a no brainier to me.
For $200 or so used how can you go wrong with this? we can sit here and point out the bad things all day, but at the end of the day it all comes down to what YOU are looking for when it comes to your most personal device. I want 3 things; good camera, good screen, and good battery life. I have spent a lot of time looking into all of this and thats why i came to the conclusion of going for this phone. I know battery is not going to be the best, but then again that also reminds me to put my phone down and go enjoy life Hope this helps.
I feel this phone rocks. It is true. For the price of admission, the phone is excellent and hold up. Battery life is good too as it compares to phones with good battery life specs and greater size battery phones. It does get hot at times and cracks a bit, but with support for stuff like that, not bad too. Only thing I wish it had was a better camera. Not bad for what it is. But with phones that have a greater picture quality, feels a bit dated. Memory usage, no slowdown and snappy. Clean android with the Google Launcher for me.

Don't even purchase the Nextbit Robin. It has huge audio playback glitches via 3.5mm and enabling built-in Equaliser in Google Play Music messes up the quality.

Hi all! Have few questions and depending on the answer I may or may not purchase Robin.
1) I am with T-Mobile and need the device to support: 1) VoLTE, 2) Band 12 and 3) WiFi Calling(3rd item is not priority if first 2 are supported)
2) How loud and clear are front stereo speakers compared to other phones such as ZTE Axon 7 or Alcatel Idol 4s?
3) How fast is the 32GB storage compared to other phones (UFS 2.0)?

1) First two are supported as far as I know. I have the Robin on T-Mobile and Band 12 absolutely works.
2) Wifi calling is T-Mobile specific (at least their version) so I doubt you'll be get that.
3) Cameras are OK. If you're a shutterbug, in this price range the Nexus 5X is a better choice. A casual snapper in good lighting can get nice pictures from the Robin and those are good enough for social media.
4) These front facing speakers are very good. Not as good as the Idol 4S and as loud as the ZTE Axon, but pretty good. Audio jack is solid.
5) Battery was trash before the September update, and now it is OK. Still helpful to have the charger handy, but you can eek through a day. it charges really quickly though if you've got a 2.0 charger handy.
6) Read/Wrote speed on the internal storage is good enough.
I like mine. I'll definitely keep it around, even if I upgrade to a HTC 10.

I just pulled the trigger on this... At that price it's a steal.
If Nextbit would have crammed a 3000mah battery in the thing I wouldn't have any reservations.
But I just couldn't resist.
Also thinking of getting one because of the price drop. Have read CM13 really helps the battery life over stock ROM.

Cm13 actually has a little bit of a battery drain, but performance is a lot smoother than stock on cm13 in my opinion.
