i was running cm12 with no probs on htc one m9
then by mistake i installed the new update and it was cm13.
after the phone rebooted i got google play error saying i need to update google play.
downloaded the latest gapps6 but when trying to install in recovery mode from internal phone memory (as sd card for some reason is not mounted anymore) it gives an error E: FAILED TO MAP
is there a way to go back to cm12 or fix these faults on cm13?

Install gapps immediately after rom installation, do not allow a full boot..
There is also an issue with the SD and the way it's read, this is an android M issue.

You will have to have downloaded the rom from xda surely? The Rom you downloaded initially I assume was cm 12.1, then you updated to cm 13, that thread is in the original android development section, I'm sure you can find your way there as you've been there before. The thread is now called cm13 I believe..
Also make sure you're on the latest TWRP recovery, I'm guessing you are but it'd be nice to be sure.
Might also be worth downloading G apps from the cm13 thread then rebooting to recovery, flashing the rom again and installing gapps whilst once complete, don't allow a reboot.
Wiping cache and dalvic will be fine, don't perform a full wipe just incase you can't install the rom again.
If you get stuck, you can push files to your phone using recovery and the push command..
Not 100% but I think storage works via TWRP, could be wrong about that and I've not tested it with cm13.
Either way you have a way back..

Install from your internal memory not your SD card. Get the necessary files on your internal memory instead.
thank you very much, will try there.

No it'a not bricked..
Are you installing from internal or external memory?
Connect your phone to your computer and go to recovery, then mount storage in recovery, copy G apps to internal memory.
Make more posts in here, i think you need ten
I tried it and found Android 6.0 is having issues with my PC, not recognizing my SD Card, not even the Internal SD !!! :S I know it is pure Super fast but i cant live without connecting my phone to PC.
Also I tried to flas Gapps just after installing MM (not reboot and with Aroma) and the installation freezes, so im stuck with pure Android no Google Apps, so I did return to Lollipop VipeOne 3.5.0 with a full backup made with TWRP.
Sorted. Avoid it til it'a fixed like me unless you want to be a Guinea pig.

sorry, i did copy everything onto internall memory, still no luck...
also the cm13 updated the recovery aswell, and i can't even do a factory reset...
please is there a way to go back to cm12.1?
once again i can't install anything in recovery mode.
Hang on you just said you reverted back to viper?
You should be able to install things now?
At this point I'm not too sure mate.. Sorry, perhaps install recovery again, might not be the right thing to do though, ask in the viper thread, you might have enough posts now.

i wanted to ask how to go back to cm12.1 from cm13?
i don't have any backups, nor my recovery is allowing to install anything as per post above...
adb method is not working either, just says waiting for the device when rebooted to download and nothing else.
also my firmware is 2.10..... is that an issue?

Nah i'm on 2.10 that's fine.
At this point it appear to be an issue with CM13 rather than anything else, I'm not up to speed with Android 6.0 so I think it would be best if you asked in the thread, you've made over 10 posts now so i'm assuming you can post there.
See what they say, let them know what you've done so far, someone will have either been through it or will know what to do.
Sorry i can't be of more help mate.
PS: Just thought of something, if you have connectivity to your computer / laptop, update your recovery if you haven't already, chances are it's an issue with cm13 but might be worth a try.
I had similar problem - Google Services crashing after unintentional update to CM13.
I realized that I need to install new GApps to fix the issue but GApps installation in recovery was constantly failing.
I used to have some recovery there, I even don't know which one, but during update to CM13 the recovery has been changed to some kind of CM recovery.
After installing TPRW recovery (ir forked for me from the TPRW Manager App from play store) I was able to install Nano GApps.
It solved the issue with Google Services crashing, now I got some Wizard crashing. The issue with crashing wizard is solved by going to privacy setting and allowing the wizard all rights. Later I realized that many other applications were crashing on start as well. I solved it for each of them by uninstalling and installing from Play Store again.

Hi guys!
I had rooted u9200 on ICS firmware version B100, but I didn't manage to unlock bootloader to install CWM. So I decided to flash update 4.1.1 B508 offical beta firmware. I had to change build.prop to match the B508 version and I succesfully flashed 4.1.1 update. The problem now is that I can't root it. No way, I tried everything, not a chance. Also I can't downgrade because I have to change build.prop again to match the version I'm trying to downgrade to, but since I don't have root access I can't change build.prop. So now I'm stuck on unrooted beta version of 4.1.1.
Plese if anyone has any ideas and suggestions do not hesitate to write.
Out with the old, in with the new
So, I finally menaged to root 4.1.1 and to flash cwm. So now I flashed CM10 4.2.1 and it's working fine, but... When I go to settings/storage I can see my internal memory as "Internal storage" 2.14GB and I can see my sd card as "sd card" 29.78GB, but from any file menager I tried to use the situation is different, I see my internal storage as "sd card" and my real sd card is nowhere to be found, I can't access it from anywhere. The card is working fine, I tried it on my pc, and I used it to install this CM10 I'm on now.
Anyone with similar issues?
Please help me.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem and have been scouring the internet for answer.
I bought my P1 in Hongkong, so had a Hongkong stock B104 firmware, i used unlockroots software to unlock it successfully, but like you did not put any recovery on it, so have no way to flash a new rom or any recovery. i also like you edited the build.prop file using root explorer and flashed B508 (Jellybean).
1) Can you please tell me in a step by step guide how u managed to get CM10 & recovery on your phone & where u got the software etc.
2) I have backed-up my phone using Hisuite and Hicloud using cload software to the Internet & SD cards, will this be ok or will your procedure erase my SD card and will i be able to restore.
3) How would you rate CM10 compared to B508 firmware, is everything working as it should.
Your help would be much appreciated, and i would be extremely grateful.

Hi!
I used this guide to root, unlock bootloader and install cwm (I know the b508 is 4.1.1 but it worked for me): http://betanews.com/2012/11/13/how-to-root-android-4-2/
Download recovery image from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?pdaj3bohegu0vox
ROM is here (if you haven't found it already): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930207
I don't know if you will be able to restore, but I don't see why not. I used titanium backup, you must be careful not to restore any system apps or settings. Also make a full backup from recovery before restoring because it's possible that it gets stuck on boot. Also it will not erase your SD card but it might be wise to use a clear one just in case.
I've been using this ROM for some time now and it works great. The only thing that bothers me is that video recording doesn't work, but I guess this will be solved in new versions.

Thanks for that, the tutorial mentions putting the phone in to fastboot, i have tried holding vol up & down buttons with power, phone just reboots.
I saw others saying to first take the battery out, how the heck do you take the battery out of the Ascend P1 (U9200)?
Could you please tell me how you proceeded at this step, also do you have google play working on it?
Would i not be able to flash a recovery image on the phone using AndroidControl app, it has a tab for flashing recovery but did not want to try it without asking if you tried this method?
Thanks in advance.

Turn off the phone, hold the volume down button and then plug in the usb cable. This should turn the phone on and put it into fastboot.
After that just follow the instructions provided in the link above. I got a few error messages in the process but I proceeded with all commands and it worked.

UPDATE: I was able to flash the recovery using AndroidControl, i installed the driver first in fastboot mode and then restarted the phone, while still connected to the pc i ran AndroidControl then chose the flashing tab and flashed the recovery using cwm touch recovery, and then flashed with supersu file you gave me, to give me root acess, all went fine and my phone is now rooted with cwm touch recovery.
I still have not upgraded to CM10 as i wanted to see how B508 will be with Google play now working. As i did not have a recovery mode which could flash zip from sdcard, i was unable to flash gapps zip, i have now flashed gapps and all is working fine.
What was the reason you changed to CM10 rom, was the beta version of B508 not very good for you, i would really like to know what the difference is before flashing another rom?
Thank you very much for your help & assistance and your prompt replies.

Hi!
I'm glad to hear you made it. Why I use CM? Well, there really is no good answer to that. I was using CM on all my other phones too, I'm used to it, I like its speed and stability, I like look and feel and also I like it's additional options. That being said, there is one problem not with CM but with Jelly bean in general. Android 4.2 has a different directory structure, due to its new multiuser features. The problem with that is that you can't install apps on sd card and you can't use directory bind to bind data from sd card. So if you wish to play some games on your phone you will be limited by your phone's memory capacity. I hate this, I used to have a lot of big games on my phone and now I can't have more than two at the same time. At the moment I'm reverting back to 4.0.3 ROM just because of that, at least until theres some kind of solution or workaround for this.
Also theres nothing stopping you from playing with other ROM's. Just make a full backup in recovery and you can always go back to the ROM you find most suitable. In fact I would encourage you to download a few ROM's and try them out, see which one you like the most and which one suits your needs the best.

Thanks for your advice, you & this forum have been nothing short of brilliant, i myself is contemplating going back to ICS 4.0.3 as it also had the option to install apps on to the SD card, as it is my phone memory is almost full which makes even updating apps difficult as there's no more room to even do this.
I've tried certain apps like gemini app manager & driodsail to move apps to the SD card but none of these seem to work. I'm thinking of trying the official B226 firmware from Huawei just to see if it is ok, i know by doing this it will erase the root permissions, as i can't find a rooted version of this firmware and so will need to root again, but now that i have touch recovery on the phone it will be i presume easier to do this.
I hope they have made improvements on B226, because one of the reasons i actually upgraded to JB 4.1.1 was the sound from the stock google music player seemed low in comparison to JB where the sound was a lot better.
Do you think Huawei will release an official Jellybean firmware for this phone?
Any way thanks again, and keep in touch by letting me know how you got on, would be interested to know on what Rom and why and i shall also let you know on anything that i try or use.

Hey!
I managed to solve the problem with low internal memory on 4.2. I partitioned my sd card with Mini tool partition wizard, made [fat32 ~16Gb] [ext4 ~ 14Gb], and then I used Mounts2SD app from google play to mount my ext partition as internal storage (Reversed Mount option in app). So far everything seems to be working just fine. (I tried the normal mount, just to move data folder to sd-ext but it didn't work).

Hey,
That's great news, i can't even download Mount2SD from google play as it keeps on saying i have insufficient space on internal storage. I have 255mb left surely this app is not bigger than that, so what could be the problem? as i cant even update existing apps. maybe something got messed up and it's either giving the wrong internal storage amount or something, as i was able to update apps from the google play as soon as i rooted and flashed gapps.zip. Now after that first lot i can't seem to download anymore apps or even update them as it's reporting as insufficient storage space and this is with even un-installing some apps. I may have to flash the firmware again to get rid of any crap that was in there and flash recovery/root & gapps as well.

Just try to do a full wipe and reflash the rom. I'm still using CM10.1 and it works great. (except the video recording still doesn't work). Be sure to flash the right version of gapps. You can partition your sd card before doing all this, you can even partition it with cwm but it supports the maximum size of 4Gb, so I used mini tool partition wizard (as I mentioned before). When you're done, install mounts2sd from google play, install scripts from there and choose reverse mount option, restart your phone and that should be it, your sd-ext partition is now mounted as internal storage. I strongly recommend class 10 sd cards for this, I'm using one myself and so far haven't experience any lag, even games work perfectly.

Just out of interest now that you have changed the format of your microsd card to ext4, is it still visible as a drive when you connect to the pc,or did you have another program in Windows to make them visible?

No.
AT&T Galaxy S3
Mac OSX 10.8
I know I can get my device back, I'm just not sure how. I successfully rooted using CASUAL, no problems there. Got the normal root applications installed, did the Clockwork backup, everything was great.
I then decided to try a custom ROM - the Cyanogen 10.1. It downloaded fine, and I selected to also install Google Apps, then it rebooted and the Cyanogen boot screen with the spinning circle came up. However, this lasted way longer than I thought it should, so I looked it up, and what I got from the research is that I had the wrong gapps on there.
So, I followed the instructions in this thread (same problem as me), and wiped the system. However, I believe I used the wrong list item, and now everything I had is gone. I can't boot from recovery because it doesn't exist, and when booting into CM I just get the same error message that setup has stopped working. I thought maybe I could put a new ROM on the sd card or phone harddrive and boot from that, but both are inaccessible through USB on my Mac.
I can get it into ODIN mode (where it says "Downloading... Do not turn off target!"), which I'm thinking is what I want, and I have Heimdall installed and it runs and recognizes my device, but I cannot for the life of me find a tar.gz file to use.
If anyone can offer any sort of help, I would super appreciate it.

I know I can get my device back, I'm just not sure how. I successfully rooted using CASUAL, no problems there. Got the normal root applications installed, did the Clockwork backup, everything was great.

Your recovery shouldn't be affected by a wipe (unless you flashed something over it) as ROMs don't flash recovery, therefor vol up + home + power should get you in it. If you success to, You should be able to mount through recovery.
As for Heimdall, it just got S3 support (last week I believe), therefor it might not be easy to find a stock file for it. That being said, if you have access to any Windows pc, that'd be the easiest solution here (using Odin).
Yes, I can still get into the recovery menu, but when I use "backup and restore>restore" it says No files found. Is there anything I can do to just get a working OS running? Or am I just doing it totally wrong, I'm new to the rooting stuff. The Windows computer will be my last resort haha.

Windows pc is definitely the easiest option here but you try mounting your SD from recovery, redownload the ROM and Gapps you wanna use, put them on your device and flash them after a factory reset.
If you wiped your SD card, it's normal that you don't have a backup anymore.

It's aaaliiiiiiive! Grabbed an extra micro SD I had, threw Cyanogen 10.1.0 RC4 on it, and installed it just fine. Now updating to RC5. My only question now is how to get Google Apps on there. Does this need to be done beforehand, or can it be done after?

You usually flash the Gapps right after flashing the ROM, before rebooting.
P.S.: fully reading the instructions helps before flashing

I don't think it will be as Google haven't released the version with the patch yet as that will be the OTA or factory image versions.

Thank you I'm really excited about it. But I have a question. Can I have use my flash drives in this ROM without stickmount?
ROM
So is this a full-fledged ROM that I can install after wiping any ROM, or do I have to flash back to stock android 4.4.4 and then flash this??
I seem to be unable to install on my Nexus 10. I've followed the stages, but when I get to flashing the AOSP rom it stays on it forever!
I've updated my TWRP to v2.8.1.0 but it does the same thing.
Sorted the problem I think, some how the download I had on my Nexus was not a happy one haha. just on the boot logo now :3
Thank you, booted up and running. One question, I couldn't install Google+. It cannot be found on Play Store and installing from APK doesn't work neither.
Great work, thanks. Flashed about an hour ago, flawless so far!
seems my internal storage is not working ,I am not able to see any storage area, it gives an error. Might be a bad flash.

Is anyone having problems with Wifi? I have flashed this twice and I cannot get Wifi to connect. It sees networks but won't connect to any of them.

Yeah all working now, took forever to boot, went black a few times and then started working.
Now the $64,000 Question: will it root?
because I've had my fun with it. And without root, I can't keep it. I doubt it can be, but I have to hope.
Flashed yesterday. My experience was as follow:
1) Dirty flash from PA, system erase command did t seem to work. After flashing it booted up all apps were there, 4.4 gapps were force closing.
2) Twrp advance factory reset and erase. normal flash afterwards with gapps 5.0. Setup wizard crash. Couldn't get past that error.
3) Factory 4.4 image. Complete erase, and flash to L, boot up and then TWRP and gapps flash. Tablet booted correctly and works since then.
Regarding the WiFi battery drain bug:
No issue here. Battery drain when idle is a flat line. No misc group with excessive battery is listed in the battery stats.
Further more performance is great, basic apps seem to work correctly. Haven't gotten much into detail.
Regarding the G+ question. It works fine.
I picked up a sprint htc one m9 today. unfortunately no stock OS and no SD CARD with backup either. I booted into twrp but i can not do anything. everything fails. i tried to flash a rom and its a no go. I am stuck and have no idea what to try after looking for hours.
I have no OS
I can boot into twrp
twrp does not allow me to do anything FAILS on every operation.

Foremost: ugh. Sorry man - that sucks.
So it sounds like your best option would be to get an sd card and apply a RUU from there. Flippy498's Google Sheet is a great resource for where to get them and how to use them.
You might be able to use the Windows-executable RUU directly from Sprint. I'm pretty sure you'd need to be in download mode when you ran it though. It's not as straightforward as the sd card method, but they're usually my first fallback.
Keep in mind that both of these options are destructive - your phone will be brought to a factory state (stock firmware, recovery) and anything on the phone's internal memory will be wiped.
It might be worth exploring why TWRP keeps failing. If we could solve that, you could install the ROM of your choice and not worry about RUUs. But that's definitely more work and probably not necessary if you're not trying to save anything. Once the RUU has been successfully applied, you can just unlock the bootloader anew, install TWRP, and do whatever you want from there.
Thanks a ton that fixed it!

hi there!
I previously had colors 2.1.5.i version installed in my Oppo find7a. I was quite happy for quite a long time but lately I had many issues .SIM card stop working and keep on having continuous crashes when running apps so I uninstalled and reinstalled colors again and again. Finally I went back to the factory setting version and rooted the phone but now I am having issues with more crashes, continuous app logout and login and lack storage (it does not allow me installing many apps even if i keep on uninstalling apps and moving them to the SD).
Could you recommend me the best solution and best Colors version or even a different ROM for oppo find7a so I do not have any of these issues anymore?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks a lot for your help. Yes I would appreciate a reliable source for the lvm zip file. I guess the same procedure would work for lineage ROM? I tried to instal lineage before but it failed so maybe that was the reason. Cheers!

First make a full backup to your sdcard of your current OS so your never left out, I just always wipe everything but raw SD and one other raw partition(data or something) and also not the sdcard I wipe everything apart from those 3, make sure before you make a backup the location is your sdcard, this is a step by step guide.
FIRST INSTALL ALL FHE THE ZIPPS I MENTIONED BEFORE AND PLACE THEM ON YOUR SDCARD
1. Boot into recovery
2. Make full backup to sdcard (this takes about half an hour) after you finished the backup just check if it worked, photos video's and music are not included only the apps your system and all the data
3. wipe everything apart from the aforementioned partitions
4. Flash the setup lvm zip
5. Reboot recovery
6. Flash nameless rom zip
7. Flash opengapps 7.1 arm micro/Pico
8. Reboot phone

unfortunately all went bad! nothing worked this time!
everything failed this time so I had to go back to colors version 2.1.5i and switch partitions again to avoid storage issues.
Failing message was something like this: "storage: can't find table partition". I could not even root this time. They only thing I did not do was "wipe data, internal and sd card", the rest I wiped first, then it did not allow me to go any further.
Let's see for how long this solution works. I am starting to think that this issue has to do with programmed obsolescence rather than ROMS issues.
Oppo support have ignored me so far. I sent a couples of messages a couple of weeks ago and no answer yet. Maybe they do not speak english cos I could not find any english community. They are mostly asian http://community.oppo.com/id/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=5645&extra=&page=1

It has a both a spectrum 1.3 zip (download this to your sdcard) and a recovery tool in it, you need to install it on your PC and connect your phone in fastboot then follow the on screen instructions and install the stock color OS recovery when your there try to install the spectrum zip, this has worked for me in the past, the problem with Oppo support is that they probably won't help you because your bootloader is unlocked.

hi there! I was giving more time to give you a summary.
Well! it was good while it lasted. Only 24 hours I enjoyed Spectrum. After that first warning message was "google services stopped", then slowly phone started going slower and slower till finally cant start anymore. Now if i restart, it remains at "oppo logo screen". I had the feeling that this was going to happen at some moment but caught me unattended. Furthermore, while I was trying to go back to recovery mode, though I left all files in internal and a copy at external memory, just in case, now at recovery mode cant find any of these files. Meaning I am really stuck at this point and I can't go any further since internal and external memory cant be accessed in recovery mode to reinstall. Moreover, computer cant transfer files to internal or external cos cant initiate well and does not allow me transfering.
I need to find how to make internal or external memory recognised by my computer so that i can transfer files and recover again or a way to read those hidden directories.. any suggestions? any option from the recovery installer? I tried option 3 to install openrecovery twrp but cant find .zip files and computer still cant transfer. This is really killing me :S

I just wipe data and cache and got lucky to enter some sort of Spectrum version with no access to storage at all but some miracle internal memory inside (2-3G) that I can not access or see at all. It's working for a few apps only cos complaint when i tried the ones I had before. I think Ill keep it as a back up phone and tomorrow i decided to buy some not very expensive phone (150-200 euros) to have my life back and maybe i buy a better phone (maybe Oppo) in my next trip to Asia. I really appreciate your super help. Hope one day I can treat you for a beer
