FireTV Box Gen1: Does not recognize Prime Subscription
It has been working fine for over a year. But any prime content is not available. I get the option to add content to watchlist but no option to view it. If content is available via rent/purchase, i can do that. But no prime content.
On my same network at home, my firetv stick works fine. no such issues. I can stream content. Content also work fine on my computer.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
I had the same problem.
Fix was to move my amazon account to german site. There is a option in the account settings.
You need to change this on the web site and not inside the firetv box.
Hope it helps........

Just received my amazon fire tv in canada and having issues with it right out of the box. Trying to connect to my wifi at home and it doesnt want to connect. I have 2 fire tv's and they both do the same thing - unable to connect to network. I knew that I'd ave to use a vpn to be able to use hulu plus etc as they are geo blocked content but id thought that id be able to at least side load xbmc and use my canadian netflix account. Are amazon fire tv's, the units themselves somehow geoblocked? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks in advance to those that reply
Did you put in your Amazon account yet? FTV needs to connect thru your Amazon account & the country in account should be US (Google on how to do it if you havn't done this yet).
Is it just the Wi-Fi, did you try Ethernet connection?
I don't think there's any geoblocking in the device itself (till the time your Amazon account is set to US) as I am using mine in Canada w/o any issues.
Looking for a way to stream local content to my TV without using internet. My cable provider just put data caps in place and using Chromecast is really chewing up my allotment. Looking at a roku, but, can't find confirmation if internet is used for local content streaming. Any input is appreciated.
Does miracast work on the note 4?
Plex + Roku
Is there a way to access movies that are on a HDD connected to a Fire TV via a USB as external storage from a Chromecast in another room? I have my DVD collection ripped to a HDD that'll be connected to my Fire TV in my living room, however, I have chromcasts throughout the house and would like to access my DVD collection from those chromecasts. How can I achieve this? Is there a way to use the Fire TV as a host like having a NAS box? Fire TV will be rooted. Thank you
Maybe attach HDD to router and access it that way? Thing is I wanna use Kodi to access it so I have all of the cover art and such...
If your router can be used as mediaserver this should be possible since KODI does support UPnP/DLNA. So this could be the way to do (I simplified a little bit since I´m not at home where my aTV is )
1.) attach your hdd to your router
2.) configure your router as (UPnP) media server and select the hdd as content source
3.) in KODI go to "Videos" -> "Files" and call "Add videos..." and search for the "UPnP devices" entry. Now there are 2 possibilities:
3.1) accept just UPnP devices in general without selecting a specified device. KODI will use this as "UPnP autodiscover" and does list all available UPnP media server
or
3.2) select a single device and add it as static entry which does show up only your router later (you can do still more than one static device entry if needed)
Afterwards in KODI you do have now an additional entry for accessing UPnP devices and/or your specified router device as content source. You can now access all your content via network.
The same procedure does also work for music or picture content you have just to add the UPnP device or UPnP autodiscover to the music/picture menu of KODI.

Thank you. That could probably work, but I'd also like to cast movies from kodi on the fire TV from popcorn time etc.
I don´t use popcorn time so I can´t help you with that in particular but for local files KODI must run as UPnP server (http://kodi.wiki/view/UPnP/Server) and every other device can access the local content if they are capable as UPNP clients.
Does anyone know a way of doing this? I am in the UK and use SmartDNSProxy to access Japanese Amazon Prime. This works fine.
All4 works fine on the box but iPlayer (and ITVHub and Demand5) both run but then show an error page pointing out that the app is unavailable in Japan. This message forces me to close the app although it is clearly running OK in the background. I assume it's an Amazon check rather than an actual IP issue from the broadcaster - I am, after all, in the UK.
Is there any way to block Amazon doing this (IP? Disable app?) or a setting on Amazon somewhere. Device is not rooted.
Thanks.
Can't you switch regions with your smart dns proxy. With unotelly, I've sideloaded the unotelly.apk app on to my fire tv boxes allowing me to switch regions in order to access the uk's bbc iplayer or the itv app, and then easily switch back to prime video u.s or netflix u.s with a few clicks of the settings when required. Is your smart proxy dns dynamic (switchable) or fixed?
Smartdnsproxy routes traffic whichever way you like depending on service. Amazon Prime (and thus Amazon account) is set to hit Japan so I see the Japanese interface and content. iPlayer will go direct to the UK site. However, there seems to be an extra check Amazon are doing. It knows that iPlayer is unavailable on Amazon Japan and so kills the app with an error message when attempting to run it - it appears to be running happily and half loads the correct content before Amazon kill it. I think I need to disable that check or prevent it or stop the app running that does it etc.
Is it possible to download content with a valid subscription to Netflix and/or Amazon Video?
Sometimes I just do not have good Internet for streaming and the smartphone does not have HDMI. Would be great to download content to watch offline like it is possible with the Smartphone apps from the playstore. Best would be to be ablte to download to a usb stick connected to the ftv. Screen casting does not work smoothly enough. At the moment I use a windows 10 laptop with the netflix app to watch offline over HDMI.
