Good evening everyone,
I own a Motorola Defy, and tried to put the ROM "For Adlxmod Froyo Defy, "but I had the UK firmware 2.51.1.
It was there that a lack of attention, my phone now does not care anymore.
He only gets a white LED lit in front of him and does not happen any more, nor even acknowledge again by RSD.
I read in several places that this is due to firmware 2:51 and I believe I have given a HARD BRICK on my device.
Has some way to fix my phone without having to take it to an authorized?
I thank everyone's help,
Felipe

Thanks, I managed to settle with the tip given!
Hello Everyone,
My Defy run out of juce with a special 3400mAh battery from china in the night. When I came home I changed the battery (the stock battery) which was fully charged. After that the defy was stuck in a bootloop (cm7) but i did not recognize this for a couple of hours. Because of this bootloop I removed the battery and put it in again from that time on the defy was dead. Maybe I did not wait long enough - I mean I saw the bootloop and thought 'crap' took the battery out and stuffed it right in again (I was a bit frustrated). Maybe i should have waited at least 5-10 seconds before putting the battery in again?
I tried to get access to the defy by RSD lite. But the PC does not recognize it. I got a white LED by connecting it to the PC. The defy is recognized only for to seconds and than disconnects again.
I tried to flash via sbf_flash on ubuntu without any result. The defy is simply not recognized. Only white LED. No Bootloader, no recovery, no logo.
Has anyone a suggestion? Is there a possibility to get acess to the defy to reflassh everything. Since the white LED is active there has to be a way. What about JTAG and riffbox? could this be a solution and if yes - how ?
I bought a used iPhone4 last week. But honestly: I hate it!! I do not like iOS, I dont like the edges of the iPhone - it is so uncomfortable to hold it in the hands. Wifi connectivity and connection is catastrophic. I will sell it a.s.a.p. again.
I want just my beloved defy back - the only phone I ever loved !! I appreciate any suggestions - thanks in advance !!
Your "special" battery is not that special afterall
What happened to your stock battery? Just get it charged - ask a friend with a Defy to charge it for you or do the McGyver trick, in order to fire it up again and then flash your stock SBF via RSD Lite. Calm down - Defy is like a Terminator and is immortal (as long as you don't kill it by flashing wrong SBF )
Thank you for the reply. However I have a dockingstation for the defy with which I can charge the battery without the phone. The battery is full for sure!
Hope you are right that the defy is like the Terminator - I have not lost hope yet.
Any other suggestions ?!
If Defy doesn't even get into bootloader, this means there is no juice in the battery. No matter what crap one would flash, bootloader is ALWAYS accessable! That's the beauty of the locked bootloader - you can't kill it! So as long as there is charge in the battery, you can always get into bootloader (Vol up + Power) and flash a new sbf. Peace of advice: don't trust your cheap, no-name, chinese battery. Use the original one, charged in another Defy phone, so you can make sure it really IS charged. The fact you left it in an external charger, doesn't mean it is charged - battery might not be working, charger may not be working, or both at the same time might not be working. There is no reason not to get into bootloader if there is charge in the battery
Cheers!

My Defy+ don't enter on bootloader anymore, just white light and RSD Lite is working. Had you saw this behavior before?

It's blank screen problem, happens when you flashed an SBF older than your previous one.
You still can get into Bootloader, just nothing on screen but it's definitely in there. Then flash the right SBF, the same or higher build than your previous stock rom successfuly to fix it.
Which SBF are higher than other? It's about Bootloader(BL) version, read here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=966537
If not sure, try DFP-231 builds, it's highest BL version to ensure fixing this.

I have the same problem as last post (blank screen) with my DEFY (not plus). I flashed DFP-231 but now the boot stops at M logo. I`ve tried power+volume down but cannot access stock recovery. Any suggestions?

Look, I've suggested to one who use Defy+, so I said he should try DFP-231.
But not for Defy mb525, you shouldn't flash DFP-231 or any 2.3.x SBF files to your mb525...
Now you've stuck to Bootloader V.7 and no way back.
What's done is done, stick to that DFP-231 SBF you've flashed for now.
Did your flash finish with "Finish/pass" or "Please manually power up phone"?
If it Finish/pass then try again on Stock recovery, you almost there.
But if "Please manually power up phone", means you're not yet flashed your phone completely...
So do this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=38187413
first, I will explain my phone condition.
from off power. If I try to turn on by holding power button, I can feel it vibrates as normal when it turn on to boot up. But for my xplay, its screen show nothing and it seem that the screen does not turn on at all. Then if I plug it to pc from this condition, the pc will ring detect device sound and unplug device sound and detect device sound and unplug device sound, repeat and repeat forever. So I have to pull off battery to turn the phone off. But flash mode and fastboot still work with flashtool.( as you all know plug usb with back button and search button)
what I have done so far to solve this is :
- I have tried to flash stock rom R800_4.0.2.A.0.79 and r800a_2.3.3_US Generic via flashtool in flash mode. flashing is complete but my xplay still remain unbootable.
- flash doomkernel via fastboot with flashtool. process complete but again, problem is not solved.
any help ?
So let me get this straight, you flashed a firmware and your phone is still unbootable and just has a black screen? hmm strange.. Have you tried Sony PC Companion?

I'm sorry no one could help you out as of yet, this issue does seem quite rare so we can expect why you haven't gotten any help and sorry bout that. I would probably flash the different types of firmware and see if theres any hope there, or you can send your phone to repair and that should be your last to resort solution.
When did this happen and how? Such things do not happen without a history, we need to know what you did/tried before to see if we can fix it!

Remove phone and insert it then hold back button(or search button i dunno, but don't turn it on) until the power button shows blue light(or green) and insert the usb cable into the computer. You must tick the two box when flashing stock rom. Check No final verifications and Reset Customizations. Are you trying to use stock rom with doom kernel?
I had this problem too.
Have you tried flashing different Kernels and ROMs?

I had used several custom rom before, the last custom rom is something with lupus kernel (sorry I cannot remember its name). At that time, I have many problem about performance such as when I got a call (the phone start to ring and vibrate) the screen won't show anything, I have to wait for several second before screen show up and I can recieve the call.
One day during on a trip, I designed to turn the phone off and pull out sim card. and used my friend's iphone4 during the trip. When I back home. I tried to start my xplay again. But the phone won't start anymore, it become the state as I mention in this thread.

I have not tried 'No final verifications and reset customizations' yet. So I will tried this when I got my phone back.
ps. I sent it to sony service center last week. Yesterday, they call me that it is hardware failure, and they don't have spare part. But I think they just cannot figture it out what is the problem and don't want to bother with old phone. So I call it back. still wait it to be back in my hand.

Hey Guys I really need your help.
I'm really worried as my phone just wont switch on. I was having issues with CM11, so I reverted back to ViperX 4.0.7, flashed the heartbleed patch, installed regular apps and the phone was working fine. With around 25% charge, I did a restart and the phone just won't switch ON again. Couple of times earlier when the phone wouldn't switch one I would hold the Power+Vol Down and it would start in the bootloader. But right now even that is not working. I tried keeping it under direct light and holding the buttons that too isn't working. Have charged it for nearly 18 hours now. Its out of warranty. Guys any help Whats wrong with it? How do I fix this ? Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks One-m8-master. I connected the phone to the PC and in device manager under 'Other Devices' it showed up as APX. Then I tried pressing the Volume down key for 10 Seconds+ and then pressing the Power key for 10 seconds without the usb. And then after reconnecting it to the PC it displayed 'USB Device not recognized' and under 'USB controllers' shows Unknown device. Does it mean its still in APX mode?

i was dreading those words
Just a recap. I was running CM11. Phone switched off at 50%. Dint Turn on for a long time. Turned it on by pressing Power+Vol Down (holding it for a while). Phone ran fine till it discharged completely and shut down. After charging it for a while, had to restart it again by Power+Vol Down. And apps started crashing. Next:
1) Booted into bootloader >fastboot USB>Flashed ViperX.4.0.7 boot img. included in full rom zip file.
2) In CWM recovery the The viper Installation failed. Back to Bootloader
3) Flashed the TWRP recovery.
4) Fastboot flash Viper boot.img again followed by fastboot erase cache.
5)Flashed the Viper Rom. Installed Apps. All went fine.
6) Did a restart it worked ok. After sometime I did a restart again and it Never came back.
Any idea what I screwed up with those steps so i dont mess it up again??

Does using aosp roms brick the device ? Or changing roms does that ?
My device is running aosp ROM and when it runs out of battery, i cant switch it on normally after putting it on charge. I have to keep pushing the power button to boot it (capacitive buttons flashes)
Is my phone also dying ?

Don't know, ask it in the Q&A section, maybe someone knows there about this issue. Or ask it in a AOSP rom thread if more people suffer from this matter. This should be the development thread for the Viper X rom

Guess that should Not be the reason. Many use AOSP Roms and even switch between sense and aosp roms often. My phone was working fine with both CM11 and Viper no problems absolutely until yesterday where apps started crashing and after a fresh install, its just not turning on.

Thanks buddy. I took it to the HTC Centre today and they said motherboard needs to be replaced which would cost a bomb almost equal to buying a new phone. I just have one query, with the phone looking more or less hard bricked, is JTAG a good solution? Do the phones go the distance once they have been fixed via JTAG. Thanks for all the support guys.

It's a hardware issue... you didn't accidentally brick the device so it should not help.

Jtag could help but it's really hard or even impossible to do it with this phone...also the apx mode/bricked phone is due to some problems in system partitions which can't be modified by flashing roms or kernels without s-off...it's just a fault which earlier devices of one x are having...it can also happen if you flash too Many times different roms without wiping system or even wiping system too many times...but for now you can ether get a new device because buying new mainboard is stupid if it costs like a new device xD

Hello everyone
I have been a silent follower of xda from past 4 to 5 years and never had to ask for help
as I could figure out my way through when i get stuck untill now
My Xperia ZL loops on Sony Logo
My phone does enter FLASHMODE and FASTBOOT mode and im able to flash ftf Firmware without any errors in flashtool
but when it asks to unplug and restart my phone i get the same loops
I have tried yellow button Soft reset (stays in a loop after reboot)
i have tried yellow button Hard reset (Powers off after 3 vibrations)
I gave it to sony service here in India(Hyderabad) they are suggesting me to replace the motherboard which costs 24,000 INR/-(Seriously?)
i bought the phone 2 years back for 29,000 INR/- and now they want me to pay 75% of the price I strongly believe they follow their blind
rules of pushing the customer to go for motherboard replacement if they are not able to revive the phone after basic software flashing
but i still believe i can recover my phone if all the gurus out here can help me out
The phone still didnt go dead till now(some battery left may be still looping) ill try once again if the battery dies completely
EDIT:1
Tried flashing New 5.02 lollipop ftf, after successful flashing with no errors
unplugged it and tried to turn it on
Now red LED flashes 3 times but the device doesnt start
connected it to a wall charger and now i can see the kernel charging screen with battery symbol showing the charging
after some 7% charging indicated i tried to start the phone and the same inevitable loops with sony logo come back
Just plug it in and let it charge for a couple of hours, if it still bootloops, try Sony's Flashtool EMMA. I know people say it's ****, but it fixed my phone when I was in the same position as you.

CAUTION: IT IS FOR XPERIA Z >BUT IF U KNOW CORRECT POINTS THEN TRY IT for ZL on your OWN RISK.
otherwise as i said try to replace whole battery will have more chances to bring back to life.18-20 $ will be enough.

sony service centre ! They never do repair on z series. If it's in warranty drop it on service centre .they will give you a refurbished phone.
IF warranty is over you can ask them .But i m 100% sure they don't do repair as many other countries.Depends where you live.
you can do it on your own @ your own risk.Remember battery is slightly glued underneath the screen.
Always remember to order battery with that cables and connection.
Sorry for long reply .But in this kind of matters we are frustrated & you don't want to waste money & our phones.
use button
use the tiny button beside sdcard press that untill 3 times vibrate and hold button vol down in flasmood mode
Try boot with USB cable connected to 1.5A+ charger with good cable.
No Hope guys tried everything im pretty sure its battery problem but the service center guys dont want to listen to me at all
all they want me to do is get it replaced for a new phone for 24,000 INR (360$) are you kidding me? for a Xperia ZL
Im even ready to give away the phone if someone wants to help me out
I have the same problem with my ZL. Service center refused to replace the battery, so I asked someone else to do it. That however didn't fix the problem. When I push at the back between the flashlight and XPERIA the phone will switch off. When I disconnect the battery and connect it again it will start-up again. I removed the screw below the camera module, as fastening that one also made the phone turn off. There is something wrong with the motherboard. I always had my phone in a flip case and it didn't even have a single scratch on it. First time it went of was while making a video. Possibly overheating caused this problem or damaged a circuit at the motherboard. Very disappointed, phone was just 2 month out of warranty, first time off was within but that doesn't count.

I was in the same boat as you with my refurbished ZL. Flashed anything, doesn't boot. Then battery full drained and only red light. Service told me it's motherboard circuit. I didn't lesten them, bought cheap battery and replaced it by myself: and Xperia worked like a charm but only 3 months ))) New (cheap) battery got trouble on GPS route suddenly. And phone worked only with power cord connected, shutdown without. New battery will again fix it )
I have an Moto G5 2GB Dual Sim 32GB (Unlocked bootloader, stock rom without root), i was listening music on Groove Music, when i received an notification of an software update, OK, touched to download and update (i was with 60% of battery), on the installation process on Bootloader screen, the phone randomly turned off, without any warning or error. When I try to boot it, nothing happens, seems died, when i connect to USB charging, LED close to Speaker starts blinking.
What happenned? Can I solve this?
Sorry for bad english.
Same thing happened here, with the same phone specs (2GB RAM/32GB ROM/Dual Sim) on the same circumstances (unlocked bl, without root).
Neither the device appears on device manager.

Hmm thats Bad. Very Bad. Whats the build nbr? Or, what was the changelog? I was able to upgrade to August Security patch without problems (and BL unlocked).
Were you using dedexed Version?!?! Do NOT update when using deodexed Version. Then no wonder jt bricked

I was using the default stock rom, not the deodexed one (this one, the deodexed, doesn't even update).
Maybe it's due to the levels of battery before the update process begin, it was around 29%.
Edit: The number version was NPP25.137-33 (stock firmware).

How much space did you have left? You should Start a update with atleast 2gb free to make sure no problems occur.

Bootloader should work. Try going to bootloader by presing Power + Vol Down. But, for installing updates on Locked BL... You earn a price for Cautioness lol .
If bootloader doesnt work, you need to get a gr8 boar replacemenr
(Credit: ATechnoHazard, i wrote before him sorry xD)
Does it show bootloader?
Sometimes even if bootloader is not shown, it may still be active. Please try to boot into bootloader and try connecting using fastboot.

Phone is dead, tried everything and all I get is a blinking led when charging.
Device isn't recognized even by lsusb, so I think there's nothing much left to do besides replacing the board/phone.
A strange behaviour, because my previous phones were all motorolas and I got no problem updating stock firmwares on unlocked bl.

Well, maybe its a bit wierd, but go open up a live chat on moto Website. Just tell them the truth. If lucky, they will still reapir. If not lucky, they will give you a price which you can accept. Like i did on my old phone

No luck on repair.
Just arrived from the local motorola-authorized shop and they immediately check the bl conditions, so, no warranty.
At least that's a nice paperweight.
The value of the repair can be used to buy another great 2nd-hand phone, so i'm just giving up on this one until someone posts a blank flash for the normal G5
I'll create a topic of any blank flash questions...
