Have Screen Burn In? Warranty It, Get a New One - Moto 360

Searched, didn't see a similar topic.
If you had Android Wear 1.0 through about 1.2 on your phone, your Moto 360 had a much brighter charging watch face. That much brighter charging screen was actually causing burn-in on your OLED.
You can see if yours is affected by opening the Settings app. If you can see a ring of the charging halo in the background, your phone was damaged by this.
Fortunately, Motorola is honoring this as a warranty issue - you just have to claim it before your one year warranty is up. I now have a brand new first-gen Moto 360 - with an improved watch band clasp too.

Hi, where did you submit request for service?

I got mine warranty replaced (for this issue) by calling Motorola technical support. Despite being clearly outsourced, they seemed to be well aware of this issue - and processed it without too much futile troubleshooting.

moto 360 has an LCD Display , not an OLED!

I have burn-in too. It's most noticeable on white backgrounds as a yellowish ring. I only noticed it recently but I think my warranty might be up. Didn't think an LCD could have burn in, but there it is...

Could someone post a picture of the burn-in? I want to see how bad it actually is.

I took these with my watch at max brightness. Normally, it's more subtle. It's a yellow ring that's strongest at the 3 o'clock position, and decreases clockwise -- exactly where the charging ring would start.

In person, the white backgrounds actually look the worst. I have a nice white watch face that I simply won't use because of this.
I mostly use dark watch faces though so I don't notice it. It's invisible on black and most of the Moto stock faces (e.g. Dials).

how can LCD get burn-in? that's so weird

Would you keep or return a replacement phone if it took pictures like this?

The scene is a picture, at night, with a single compact florescent light bulb in the background, which has a warm tint to it, and the object is a black on white bed sheet. This is my second e4gt replacement. In daylight, I don't notice any color artifacts yet. Here's an example of no flash, flash and daylight cloud. Would you return it, hoping for a "perfect" replacement or say to hell with it and keep it? It must be a hardware issue because it does the same thing with FL24 and GB27. I never noticed this from my original, bought brand new, e4gt. The first replacement, the external speaker went out. The second, the camera is making a greenish tinge, always in the center of the picture, in low light but no scene setting. When I go outside at night and put the camera into night mode, I don't notice anything abnormal so far.
Something I just noticed while playing with the settings and modes. If I leave white balance in auto or incandescent, I get the discoloration in the camera. It is less pronounced in camcorder mode. It does it in all resolutions in the camera. If I switch the white balance to florescent, everything balances out, even though it's the wrong shade. It's more orange-ish than what my eyes see. Can anyone test this and see if your original, bought new, phone does this? I tried taking the same picture with a different smartphone, all with auto settings, and it didn't experience this issue. I'm sure it could be that it's because it's a different sensor. Here's my examples.

Try turning on Auto contrast, it fixed some odd discoloration problems for me, might work for you:beer:

My E4GT does not do this, I tried in all different resolutions and settings and everything came out perfectly normal and as it should be. No discoloration or artifacts... I'd wager to say that you should exchange it or return it and get another one. Something is definitely not right about that first picture. Hopefully that helps. Cheers!
Did a little homework and found the camera module is replaceable. I don't remember if I read if the camera's firmware was on the mother board or on the module itself. The post I read had to do with s2's in general. I'll go Monday and see if the service center will order me a new camera module.

[Q] Yellowish tint near bottom of the screen

I just picked up a 2013 Nexus 7 this weekend as an upgrade for my 2012 model. Seems like a solid upgrade so far but I'm bothered by one item and it's the yellowish gradient toward the bottom one or two inches of the screen. I need to tilt the device maybe 15 degrees away from me to get a more consistent color. If I rotate the device 90 degrees counter-clockwise (camera now on the left), I can still see the yellowish darkening on light screens on the right. My 2012 model has consistent color throughout. I found a number of posts regarding people complaining of about a warmer color to the 2013 screen but haven't seen anything describing the gradient I see. It's rather annoying when reading webpages or ebooks with a light background.
Anyone else see this on their Nexus? Did it improve with time?
I tried to take a couple of photos but my camera doesn't seem to be doing a good job of picking up the colors.
Common issue
I returned mine (because of it) and got a new one which had exactly the same thing.
I also checked out a friend's N7 and had the same thing.
So I guess it is a normal thing. It is hardly noticeable and only on white background.
(Most panels have some kind of uniformity issues. I checked an iPad 3 and had some other issues...)

Thanks for the feedback. This is actually driving me nuts and I'm going to take it back to see if I can get one with at least less of the effect. Mine seems to be worse than the display model in the store I saw today. If they can't give me something that's equivalent in color consistency to my 2012 Nexus 7 then I'll return it and just stick with that.
If I were you I wouldn't bother.
In the store there are other ambient factors that may trick you in believing the store's sample is batter. But it will not.
3 samples I checked are exactly the same...
My device have yellow tint to. How to fix? "Screen adjuster" and other not helped for me.

I don't believe that this is correctable with software. I ended up getting a different tablet altogether and even this 10" one has the same issue. Guessing these panels are all coming from the same manufacturer....

Watch Dead only shows Battery Icon with "X"

The watch was acting a little wonky with the BT connection so I did a 10-second hold-the-button-reset on the watch. When it came back up it has a black screen with a battery icon and an X inside it.
If I hold the button down it flashes for a moment then returns. I've put it back on the charger for a while ... nothing. It's dead.
Watch purchased as a gift for me - I do not have the purchasing information. Less than 2 months old. I have not gotten it wet and it was behaving fine until just before I reset it.
Any suggestions?

Make sure charging pins are clean and seated well. Maybe just leave it on the charger for a while....
Don't Buy This Watch

So I contacted Huawei Support a week ago. After 4 phone calls, and being berated for misusing my watch, I have yet to get my return shipping label (that has been promised to me since May 12th). Oh, they also said there is a backlog on parts & repairs and it could take up to 4 weeks.
Recap:
Dead $400 watch
Decent Customer Service Reps doing their jobs - not mad at them
ZERO follow-through on ANY of the promises I have been given and a week after giving all the evidence and a copy of my DNA I still have a dead watch on my hands and no way to get it repaired.
WARNING - DO NOT BUY THIS WATCH unless you have $400 to piss away!

After images? (for lack of a better term to use)

Anyone else experiencing this red after image thingy on the sides of the screen? It is most noticable when looking at a dark image or completely black. See image below and notice the sides.

I mentioned after images because the icons on the status bar sometimes shows an "after image" when for example I toggle the wifi off thereby the wifi icon disappearing, an after image is left behind but not that noticeable.
Any thoughts as to what it is and possible remedy?
I've noticed this also on mine. If I'm right , I get this red tint on the right side of my screen, after I play that football game on Messenger. It seems to go away after a while. It's noticeable on grey colours.
thats called burn in and thats a hardware issue.
That's a screen burn if I'm not wrong. Even I had experienced the same and the device was under warranty so got the screen changed and it was all fine until now, 10 months after the change, that it's back again. I'm thinking of switching to Nexus 6P now.

I was thinking of having it replaced since it is still under warranty but after reading your post, should I still go for it?

Here what happens with my device : When I shoot up the brightness to the fullest, those "red after images" kind of dissappear. But then again when the auto brightness is switched on it returns back (pssst... LG G4's are haunted! ?). I don't know what exactly the problem is, whether with the digitizer or screen. I would still suggest to get the screen changed as it's still in the warranty or if you don't want to take the pain switch to some better phone.

PX6 STRANGE ISSUES. HELP!

Hi there,
I purchased a PX6 for my 2009 Honda Civic last June and I’ve been having issues ever since I bought it.
The screen is generally heavily distorted, making the graphics look washed out and strangely warped. Occasionally, it will correct itself and look normal but it usually takes a bit of warming up/driving to correct it. Audio through CarPlay will frequently stop playing which only returns when I switch to the radio for an extended period of time. My back camera is also intermittent.
I’m starting to think it may be a power issue? I’ve also noticed certain lights in my car often don’t light up. The gearstick, AC buttons etc. I tested the battery I installed in my car, which came to 12.86 volts. Since updating the HMC a couple days back, I noticed it now displays the battery output in the menu bar. In the image attached, it’s showing 14 volts in the menu bar and when the screen randomly works correctly, the voltage is at around 13 volts. However, this is not conclusive evidence - as I’ve only just updated the software.
If anyone could please advise, I’d greatly appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Danny.

What happens if you turn the screen brightness down a little bit? Does adjusting brightness make the problem worse, or no change?

No changes at all. Exactly the same.
Have you contacted the seller or manufacturer? If it has never worked right, then I would be looking to replace. If it was purchased on Amazon, I'd suggest return or exchange. I know it's probably not the help you are looking for on the forum, sorry.
