Hey guys, my GNex has a broken sim card holder. Seems that one of the copper pins that make contact with the sim card has broken off and will no longer read my sim. Does anyone know of a way to fix this or a place that I can send it into for repair in the nyc area?
this is the GSM model, so obviously, Samsung was no help whatsoever.
Thanks for any input!
Hi
So I think I damaged my sim card tray, as one of the contacts seems to be broken and I can no longer insert a sim card into the tray.
I've read on some other threads that it is easy to replace the tray and I note a few sites selling them for US$10 and under.
I could probably get it fixed, but I think it would cost more than US$10.
Are there any instructions on how to replace the tray?
Thanks in advance!
By sim card holder I mean the thing I put the sim card onto to slide into the phone.

You can easily snap it or break it if you dropped it.

Hi, I am from Hyderabad, India. I recently purchased the Motorola Z play using flipkart. While inserting the sim in the first slot, i saw that the sim wasn't detected. I tried pulling out the tray and again put it in the second slot and still not detected. I asked for a replacement. Flipkart sent a technician who says that the sim card might have damaged the sim slot while pulling. But he agreed that the sim card perfectly fit into the slot. Now, both flipkart and motorola service center refuses to replace/repair the phone. They say they have to change the entire motherboard because of this which would cost me like Rs 14000, when I purchased the phone at Rs 21000. How is this fair? What are the options available for me? What can I do so that they repair me my phone. Isn't it Motorola's fault that they create a product with such defects that pulling out a fitting sim too causes such damage? I am already tensed and losing my sleep over it. Please help.

Did you remove the sim tray using the tool provided with the phone? If you did it as the manual says and the sim card you used was fine I believe warranty should cover it.
In Brazil we have an consumer protection organization that you can register a complaint for things like that, and it usually works. Is there any organizations like that in India?

1) I did pull out the sim tray using the tool provided. The sim card I used was actually cut from a micro-usb, but it fit properly into the sim tray.
2) We have a consumer forum in India, which maybe used to redress the above. I am still looking into it. But I am not sure how far it can go to refund me.

I think the sim got damaged during cutting. Try going to the sim retailer and ask for a nano sim. I did the same and went to idea to get a replacment for my microsim to nano sim and got a free nano sim and it was activated in 20 mins. If not, go to consumer court immediately.

No, the sim isn't the concern, its the sim slot of the mobile that got damaged. Anyways, I got a nano sim from vodafone store, after this, I wasn't aware of it. But, I dunno what else to do about the sim slot other than repairing it any local shop and breaking the warranty.

you can try writing to lenovo again, as only the sim slot needs to be replaced and you can pay them for it. But if they still insist on changing the motherboard, take them to consumer court. Better take a jobsheet from lenovo or any email print outs where you can prove they are not ready to repair.
