whats meant by telco ?? (im from egypt so idk the meaning of sm words )
my provider supports GSM and i used to work on it alot since the 3G consumes more battery but my phone crashed once and since then i cant get the GSM working even after getting a whole new stock rom
You set up APN for your Service Provider??
Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names
Here you need settings from your provider, to allow you use Mobile Internet, MMS
Usually, these are there, in Stock ROM.....but, not necessarily with new Custom Roms.
Perhaps these are missing, if so, you need to contact provider, or check on-line with provider. Settings can be sent via SMS from provider.. ..otherwise need to be entered manually!!

i already did it before and its working very well on the 3G but the problem is wn i get on 2G i cant access network or even make ordinary phone calls 'only stuck with the emergency calls only'
btw the pic i sent is wn im working on GSM (2G) while wn i work on 3G it tells me me band name instead of 'emergency calls only' and on 3G i can access network and make phone calls while on 2G i cant do these stuff
ive also changed the SIM card to another provider and its still exactly the same issue
Whenever I switch to a Jellybean ROM, no matter which ROM it is, I cant get a signal, even if it is listed as working in the original post. Usually I just cant get data or MMS on Sense 4/4.1 ROMs, but with JB I dont get any. Does anyone know whats wrong?
Make sure you have the correct APN settings for T-Mobile.
BTW doesn’t T-Mobile use 1700/2100 AWS band for 3G data? One X doesn’t support 1700Mhz, so I don’t think you can get 3G on it, only the older terribly slow 2G data service.

Hi Guys ..
i have a new note2 ALJ1 baseband, ALJ3 build .. stock Thailand firmware.. rooted then stock kernel put back. no updates showing on kies.
MY phone is not changing from edge to 3G/H++ automatically.
Thailand has sketchy 3g coverage so changes a lot.
when i am in an area that has 3g activating data the phone seems to prefer going to 2g/edge instead of 3g ..
and the only way o seem to be able to use 3g is by changing network mode from auto to WCDMA ... then having to remember to change back after i finish internet usage or i will not even get a phone reception when i get out of a 3g area
its not a sim card problem i do not think .. i had an S2 then a S3 with the same card and did not have this problem
I've met one other person having the same issue locally
i've tried *#197328640# and aquisition order is umts-gsm.. cannot change as it always says invalid choice
is there a hidden settings menu perhaps for setting preferences on priority perhaps ?
Hi,
i m using my HTC phone in Mexico with Telcel. I bought a 3G package but I cannot receive the 3G and i m only in edge. I ahve done the configuration that i found in various webpage for Android but it doesn t change. The same thing happens with a Samsung galaxy S.. I tried the sim in an iphone and it does receive the 3G.
Is there anyone who knows if there is something t do, to configurate so that my cell can work in 3G in Mexico?
It would be very helpful.
Thanks.
Mike
Maybe your Preferred Network Type is selected Only 2G?
Thanks but i tried in Auto and also selecting WCDMA only but it only receives 2G ...
Celphone is purchased in Europe but 3G works in all other countries out of Europe..

OTHER people with same problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2060657
hello! i have g3 d850 at&t and its unlocked but i have problems while i try to connect phone with 3g or 4g lte data, signal bar ddisappears when i force connect with wcdma or lte. gsm work well. apn is ok. o g2 i have 3g 4g lte ok, with same apn and same parameters but on g3 i can connect only with 2g or E. please help me!
Same happen to me
Kind of the same happens to me(I'm in Claro - Argentina provider) and also D855
Signal bars go when i select WCDMA only but when i go LTE/WCDMA/GSM, i do get 3G+ but after a while (dont know if its when the device goes to sleep or idk, but after 30+- minutes) the modem stop responding, i can't make calls, get them or get any data.
I havent been able to find why this happens (tried different versions modem) and roms.... any help would also be apreciated.
I get it sometimes too and for me the solution is changing the APN. Sometimes carriers have different apns like "vodafone live" and "vodafone internet". So be sure you choose the right apn settings.
