Wifi still shows it is on. - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anybody know why wifi activity still shows as being on in battery status even though it is turned off?
I've noticed after a reboot it fixes the problem but if I then turn on WiFi and then off again the wifi activity bar in battery status will persist.
Thanks.

Go to advanced config wifi and put the wifi mode in 2.4Ghz

Wifi Calling turning off and now starting back up

My Wifi Calling always turns off randomly it seems or when my phone screen is turned off. Then it won't start back up without me having to turn wifi off then back on and sometimes not even then and I have to restart my phone. Does anyone know a fix or what I can do so that it doesn't do this? my wifi connection is always almost full or entirely full.
Please help!
Thanks,
JewlZ
Have you checked your wifi sleep policy? If wifi shuts off when the screen does (which seems to be a default) wifi calling will also bail.

how do I change the sleep policy?

Wi-Fi turns off when phone in deep sleep

Hi, I saw many posts related to this topic Wi-Fi turns off when phone in deep sleep but not able to find a single working solution.
My phone runs on 4.2.1 with wi-fi sleep policy set to NEVER ( that means always on ideally ) , and tried turning on / off wifi optimization, avoid poor connections is not ticked.
Even after doing everything the wifi is turned off after sometime and when i turn on Screen it turns it back! How to do I solve this?? I am using STOCK rom, with just root.. No other battery saver etc. app installed.

well i have this problem too on every jelly bean rom. the only rom without this problem in cm10 stable. now i'm with cm10.1 hoping they'll fix it like in cm10.
when that problem comes out just toggle on and off airplane mode and it should disappear until next wifi toggle off and on.
I hope google will solve it in key lime pie
CM 10.1 has only just started doing this in the last week or so, it was fine before. Was wondering if it was just me with this issue or not...

Am i correct in understanding that you don't want it to disconnect? The option in the settings is "Keep wifi on during sleep". If you have it at Never, then it will disconnect when the phone goes into sleep. It should be placed on Always because you want it to be on even during sleep
Flowed and Tapped from my Nexus
fixed the wifi problem
Heya! My first post!!!
So, i had the same problem on my Allview P5 Quad.
The guys from Allview released an update for my phone based on 4.2.1 and i thought the problem was from them. I had WiFi turned on and after a few minutes from entering sleep mode, the WiFi got disconnected, both WiFi and data. I have installed the last update again and again, rooted, unrooted, tried every option from WiFi and i still had the same problem.
So i timed the time when the WiFi disconnects and it was exactly 6 minutes. So i thought that it must be an option that does this. So i unchecked the Quick Power Saving icon from Switches and ... SURPRISE! My WiFi stays on continuously. So, the problem is from the system power saving settings. I hope this helps all of you.
P.S. Love this forum! Thanks for all your help!
I believe I found the problem, some how it is not the phone but my wifi router (and all routers) is the problem. Go into your router settings and look for the "Beacon Interval" and set that number to 50. I'm not going to explain what the beacon interval is, go google it and you will see. I switched mine and now the wifi on my phone does not switch off when in deep sleep.

Wifi on continuously

I'm having an issue where wifi is always on in the battery use screen.
I have disabled location, network notification in the wifi settings, and keep wifi on during sleep. But it still shows as being active on the battery screen.
I did not have this problem after a fresh reinstall, so I'm not sure what's causing it.
I've already uninstalled the major battery draining offender apps and am working to have a more efficient phone. This is sort of the last thing I'm looking to do. Is it possible for a rude app to cause this viber for example seems to list wifi in the battery screen?
What are my options?
Turn of Wi-Fi scanning under settings -> location -> menu dots -> scanning

Do you mind looking at your Quick Settings and telling me if the WiFi icon has a line slashed through it indicating it is turned off? I just noticed my wifi was running on my Battery stats over the last 4 hours, even though I turned it off when I left my house. I then noticed my wifi Quick Settings tile was only greyed out and was missing the slash through it. Had to toggle wifi a couple times to get the greyed wifi toggle with a slash. Hadn't happened before but maybe something to keep notice of as it happened to me.

It's got the slash for sure.
This problem comes and goes for me. Don't think WiFi is actually on when it shows it is in battery stats, while it is turned off and always scan for location is also of.

Visual glitch with the battery graph left over from Lollipop. The wifi isn't actually on during that time though. It displays properly when disabling WiFi while still connected to a network.

According to battery screen - WIFI always on, even when turned off

Hi,
When I go to sleep, I turn off all connectivity (meaning WIFI, BT, LTE) but for some reason, the battery screen shows that WIFI was always on during the night, even though it's not showing on the list (the list where you have screen, Android OS, voice calls, etc.).
Images attached. The segment indicated between the red lines shows the night time, when the WIFI was off. You'll see that WIFI is turned on, but that's because I turned it on in the morning.
Initially I thought that it had something to do with location scanning as the same would happen on my Nexus 4 when WIFI scanning for location was on (in the advanced settings). So I found the option on my Nexus 5X (in the location screen now), and it was actually turned off. I toggled it (on and off) just in case and checked again, and of course that didn't help.
Anyone here knows what to do?
Thanks.

HTC 10 WiFi issues

So I have an HTC 10 and I generally like this device but I have a few problems though. Wondering if anyone can help me out.
1. I have extremely high battery drain while using WiFi. Like 1% every minute or two. If I go to sleep leaving the WiFi turned on I may lose 10 to 15% battery life which feels like quite a lot.
2. The battery history graph always displays WiFi as turned on no matter if I turned it on or off. It's basically a solid green line. Does anyone else have this problem or know of any solutions?
Thanks for helping!

There's a few threads about Wi-Fi issues. I have bad drain as well along with many others.
Here is a main one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-10/how-to/wifi-constant-suspend-resume-leading-to-t3392562
Check if Wi-Fi scanning is turned on in Wi-Fi setting and turn that off. It keeps Wi-Fi active even when Wi-Fi is off.

Thanks a lot for helping. I cannot find the WiFi scanning setting though. I checked in Settings > WiFi > Advanced WiFi. Nothing there.
