next time at least look at the stickies...
Thank you for this nice tutorial.
Everything seems to be working fine, except for when I flash zip from sdcard.
When I command it to install the zip and confirm it, it says:
"Install from sdcard...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/AMDesireRecovery.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted."
Have you got any idea of what I have done wrong?
If so, what should I do to solve it?
Thanks in advance

So, hereby, thanks. Haha.
Your advice really helped me a lot at the time.

If you have Unrevoked 3 installed:
1. Download stock Evo Recovery image (Can't find it anywhere... EVO Stock Recovery? - xda-developers)
2. Place the file in root of SD card and reboot into HBOOT (volume down/power button)
3. Do the update that HBOOT asks (vol. up for YES)
4. Reboot
5. Once rebooted, download OTA and install (should work now)
6. Once install finishes successfully you can reinstall a custom recovery using the same method (a list of them are here: public:forever [RootWiki])
7. Once you have a custom recovery back, you will need to reinstall Superuser as an update.zip through recovery ([APP] Superuser 2.3.6.1 - Now on the Market [2010-09-05] - xda-developers)
8. Reboot and enjoy!
Well I followed the instructions and the update went through... HOWEVER I have now lost root.... Help please.
EDIT: S-OFF does appear when I boot into the bootloader...
Hello!
I switched to "ON S-Unlocked" with the official procedure HTCDEV.
Now I would like to install the JIKANTARU, but I do not know how.
I made the partitions on the SD as indicated in the instructions, I downloaded the rom, I copied the sd and now?
Moreover, there is a patch in Italian?
Thank you!
you have to install ROM MANAGER first and install recovery.
after all backup your current rom from rom manager and then go in to recovery and install JikantaruROM.
Otherwise see this video
1. root your phone.
2. install rom manager
3. install CWM from rom manager while you backup your current rom it will ask for install it.
4. Put custom rom .zip file on your sd card.
5. Turn off your phone. Now, this is the important part.
Press the Power + Volume Down button simultaneously. (if you can't get it working, disable fastboot under settings)
You'll see the white bootloader screen and something will happen for about 5 seconds (don't worry, you haven't bricked your phone ). It's just a normal P76img.zip search. After that is done, select the "Recovery" option using the volume down button and then pressing the power button.
6. Wipe stuff
Congratulations, if you made it this far in one go
Easy stuff now.
Toggle using volume buttons and 'factory reset'.
Then 'wipe cache'.
Then go into advanced and 'wipe dalvik cache' and 'battery stats'.
7. Now select 'install zip from SD card'.
Then select 'choose zip'.
Then select the your zip file that you had placed on the root of your SD
Select 'YES' obviously
Let it do it's thing for about 4-5 minutes.
Once it is done okay.
Then, go back. Reboot. Have a heart in mouth moment and then watch the logo show up in a few minutes. You've done it successfully. Congratulations.

HI! MAny thanx for your answer! Ther's a problem: when i put PG76IMG file into sd, it says me CID INCORRECT!
Ok!!! I've put the root.zip file into sd and now it works!
I've just installed rom manager and put jikantaru rom into sd...now i procede.
THANX A LOT!
Italian language for jikantarurom?
Hi, Jikantaru works great!
Last question: doesn't exsist an italian patch?
Clockworkmod Recovery ported with the help of the users of forum droidbeans.
Copy the file update.zip in the root of the sdcard;
Install clockworkmod ( cwm-5.0.2.8-d170i.img ) with fastboot;
Fastboot erase recovery
Fastboot flash recovery cwm-5.0.2.8-d170i.img
Fastboot reboot
Wait for the device to start and reboot in recovery mode ( Power + volume up );
The screen is divided into 4 parts, to fix this we will use the update.zip:
Press volume up, volume down, volume up e volume down,
You should see the phrase “back buttons is enable”.
When this appears choose “apply update from sdcard”;
Choose Yes and ready the image is correct;
Note: The 3rd step has to be repeated every time you access the recovery.
Download this: CWM.Recovery.KIT.d170i.zip

Hi everyone! I'm a Newbie Here
I have a Blu Dash and I was able to install CWM by using the following thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=40433602&postcount=122
I've been using this image by the Android Screen Monitor (asm.jar)
But when I install this new method I'm not able to see anything in the smartphone's screen.
When I apply update.zip, the smartphone reboot
So, I back to the previous way
What could I be missing?

It is necessary to install it and then use the update.zip.
I found out that, there is some different procedure to be followed for those who dont have stock recovery..
Can some one give a detailed tutorial on how to revert back to stock and then upgrade.. Dying to feel lollipop on my phone
How to install OTA Updates on devices without stock recovery.

Use the following method to replace your custom recovery with stock recovery and prepare your phone for an official OTA Update (Like the Lollipop 5.0.2 update just launched for the HTC Desire 820)
1. Download the OTA Update but do not install.
Go to Options -> About phone -> Software updates
When prompted, click on 'install later'.
2. Open file explorer and go to Download folder (/storage/emulated/0/Download) and find zip file with update. (It should begin with a51_)
3. Connect your phone to a PC and copy the zip file to your desktop.
4. Using a program like WINRAR, open the file.
5. Open firmware.zip
4. Copy "recovery.img" to your phone's sdcard.
5. Download 'Flashify' from the Google Play store on your phone.
6. Run Flashify and select "Recovery image".
7. Select "Choose a file" and select the recovery.img you had copied to your sd card earlier.
8. Select "YUP!" and wait.
Note *Don't restart your device.*
9. Install update
Go to Options -> About phone -> Software updates and select "Install now".
10. Let your phone restart and upgrade to the new operating system. This will take quite some time if your phone is filled with apps.
11. Enjoy.
I hope this helps, message back here if you hit any roadblocks. If each step is followed properly, you should have stock recovery back and thus, be able to install OTA updates normally.
I have already downloaded the update and have copied it to other location...
Is it possible that I can update that from the recovery itself...
( BTW i am unable to boot inot recovery now... Whenever I click on recovery in the boot menu... It redirects to some HBOOT, power down.. etc etc menu,.. And not the recovery)
