Wifi Config File - G4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone that is rooted verify that this directory and file exists?
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
Should be able to find it with a root explorer. Trying to fix an issue with my WiFi, and someone else said that deleting that file fixed their issue.
Thanks.

This is what I get when I search for that file
/system/bin/wpa_supplicant

Can't install .cer file anymore after froyo update

Hey guys....
On android 2.1, I was able to go to SETTINGS>SECURITY>Install from SD card to install a .cer file for the wireless access points in my office. Now, on 2.2, when I do that I get a message saying "No certificate file found on SD card". I have tried putting the file at the root of the sd card as well as in a folder.
Did Sprint disable this or something? Any help would be appreciated.....
Exactly the same problem... any idea appreciated!
same issue. anyone?
edit: nvm got it working. to anyone still having the same problem make sure your .cer file is in your root directory.

When you say root directory do you just mean /sdcard ? I did that and it doesn't show up.
I have a Nexus One with 2.3.3.

How did you get it working? My .cer files are in /sdcard and it doesn't see them.
Edit: it recognized files named .crt for CA certificate, but not for user certificate

wpa_supplicant.conf

Hey, i accidentally deleted the wpa_supplicant.conf on system/etc/wifi, can anyone give me their stock version of the file?
By the way, is this file important in any way?
Thanks a lot
Not, really. It's a file with the description of the configuration file and all the available options for the true wpa_supplicant.conf file that is stored in another directory. Not needed unless you need to work with that file.

Thanks!
And the format means to backup and reset device right?!
These problems usually happen because of the wrong hosts file includings so you should delete the hosts file and reboot your device but i am sorry cause you need root. To do it use es file explorer in root explorer mode or any other root explorers you know then switch to the root directory of your phone go to system/etc/ and then you can find a file named hosts.txt there then delete that file and reboot. It should do the trick.

Help needed restoring wpa_supplicant.conf

Hi, I just flashed lineageos onto my SM-N900T and tried to copy my original wpa_supplicant.conf file so I wouldn't lose all my wifi sites and passwords. I changed the header contents of the file to match the new device and did the usual permissions and chown to wifi-wifi. But everytime I turn on/off wifi or reboot, the wpa_supplicant.conf file is replaced by a "vanilla" file (basically empty).
I scoured the net and looked through XDA, and I found others who reported the same problem (not just with lineage), but no one had an answer.
Does anyone know how to make the wpa_supplicant.conf file stick?
Thanks.
Still looking for help ? wpa_supplicant.com
You may already have this one resolved, but if not, can you reply with the directories you're copying supplicant FROM/TO?
You're probably already aware that /data/misc/wifi auto-populates with 'vanilla' p2p, supp, WC, and a couple of others if the system thinks they're missing, corrupt, etc. -- So I'd first look for a reason the system thinks it should be overwriting your copy.
