I545VRUGOF1 latest verizon update samsung galaxy s4 root progress - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Just tried kingoroot on this verizon sch-I545 model of the s4 and sure enough it didnt work because nobody has gotten past the latest verizon lock-down with VRUGOF1. Would try kingoroot but all chinese so im not sure if i dare... what was interesting about kingo was it really tried and got to about 78% and then said it failed; glad it didnt brick. New to this and so messed up when i bought this pos. Let me try to explain: verizon logo comes on when powered up but when a call comes in it says AT&T. The person said that it was unlocked when I bought it from them . It does work fine with my carriers simcard which is Cricket. So trying to figure this thing out. I'm thinking it was verizon first then unlocked upon contract completion and they went to at&t. Carrier is not the issue all I want is to be able to root the silly thing. So if there is any success on the progress of this ridiculous VRUGOF1 I hope to know. Heck its been several months now. Why cant a phone be like a hard drive and partitioned and formatted to whatever you want? :fingers-crossed:

answering my own question
just in case anyone finds this before the other forum this has been answered for a few weeks now. the thanks goes to Edgardo_Uchiha. the link is :

[Q] unblock & root

I traded my perfectly working lollipop one day old note 3 for a lg g3 d851. Worst mistake. Network unknown all settings say unknown. My first thought blacklisted. I called tmobile unfortunately the previous owner of the LG reported it stolen. I told customer service if they know who it belonged to they are more than welcome to get the phone back. Long story short im stuck with a blocked tmobile phone. The phone is carrier unlocked ( I THINK) i just need any kinda of guidance as far as what i need to do to be able to use this phone. If thats even possible. I looked through rooting softwares but i dont see this phone compatible with any. One more thing. I love customizing my phones but when it comes to software roms etc i dont have a clue what im doing or even what half it means. Thanks in advance.

Can the bootloader on an Unlocked att Note 4 be unlocked

Hi,
I know there is no way to unlock the bootloader on an att Note 4, but if ATT unlocks it would it become an International Version and can the bootloader be unlocked? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
Young fool.... only now do you realize the power of evil AT&T produces.
Now Rosachin, you will die.
(In all realness, no of course not. ATT ain't that nice nor will it ever be. You can unlock the phone in terms of cellular network but that's it.)
I cant believe I didnt come here before I bought 2 brand new at&t Note 4's Unlocked. What an idiot I am. Just never had a at&t and didnt think anything of it because everytime I have wanted to root and mod my previous phones, I never had a problem.. I never had at&t though.. uhhgg. maybe by the time I just cant stand the stock rom, they will unlock the bootloader? I dont know if that's how it works...
Oh well, sad man here.

Oh I feel you man. Note 4 was my first phone on ATT and I regret it. If I wanted to be locked down I would get a iphone. Still the note 4 is a great phone just with a lot of unused potential.

Well, I just sent a return request for one of the note 4's. AND just bought a USED sm910T from ebay.
So, instead of me getting a brand new AT&T UNMODDABLE note 4, I will be getting a used but in great condition T-Mobile note 4.
And if I can get out of the restocking fees from the return, I will come out 50 bucks ahead. Cool.
The other new note 4 went to my daughter for xmas, and she already broke the screen. DOH!!
I lucked out this time I guess.
Cheers all.

Yeah man, I'ved used At&t for years. Some phones still ended up rooting and unlocked (Sky-Rocket, LG E970, and Note II) this is the 1st phone I purchased that couldn't be rooted to install ROMs and Mods. Very annoyed but glad to know after this experience we know not to buy from At&t directly. Either buy unlocked form Swappa, eBay or Amazon or know that you will be limited when you buy from carrier. In the mean time if you really want out, pay the bill so its clear for selling, and sell it online or in person. Also you can wait it out until the next upgrade.

Never again for me, not directly from AT&T & maybe not Samsung. [AT&T-Captivate, and VZ-Note2..rooted and other ROM'd but now ]. Question: what aspect of the hardware allows a carrier's specific bands of LTE to function? Or is it that the hardware is fully "plastic", capable of any LTE banding given the software[albeit locked] and SIM[mine unlocked] ? There are multiple Note4's. AT&Ts also runs UMTS and GSM. T's? Verizon's also runs its EV-DO. Perhaps these 2G, and 3G aspects become irrelevant and the 4G/LTE buildout completes, but the question remains over capability on carrier specific LTE bands.
With my SIM unlocked Note4 I used a VODA SIM this summer in Italy, but don't recall whether I had access to LTE , or evn which data mode functioned.
Ok, I hope I don't get in trouble for asking this here. . I tried to search but I'm not real good on this phone yet. . That's no excuse, I know. ..
Anyway, I received my T-Mobile Note 4 today and I want to root it right away as I am an owner of titanium backup and rom toolbox.
I am wondering if there is an easy way to root my device without installing a custom kernel AND not require a pc?
If I have to use a custom kernel, which one is the most stable?
My device specs are
SM-N910T3
Android 5.1.1
LMY47X.N910T3UVU1DOK2
KNOX 2.4.1
I have data turned off on my phone and disabled data from my carrier. I use WiFi and no data. .
Again I'm sorry for asking this but it's been a real long time since I have installed custom anything and my pc blue screens randomly so I'm afraid to try rooting my phone that way.
Please, step by step, easy tutorial or a link to where I need to go?
Thanks a bunch.

I'd recommend asking on the T-mobile Note 4 forum. We all own the ATT model here.

The real reason carriers lock bootloaders (just remove the space after www and http)
http s://www .youtube.com/watch?v=gpVocvREboo&list=UURAxVOVt3sasdcxW343eg_A&app=desktop
[email protected] the space. Ironically....yeah i will remove the space so you can suffer clicking on the link on your phone...
Since we are on the subject of bootloaders. It's been a while since I flashed a custom rom on a phone. But from what I remember, isn't the bootloader these pictures that I attached? I took pictures on my AT&T Note 4.
Thanks
Yes i have read the whole thing.
Ok, to cut a long story short;
i bought a note 4 on an online australian shop for $470 (really hard without a job)
Anyway, they noted that their phones are from GENUINE Suppliers and i got a Note 4 UNLOCKED from, you guessed it. AT&T.
Now i wasnt too fussed. I was happy i got a note 4 that wasnt a chinese brick phone, since it technically was refurbished from their Hong Kong Warehouse. Anyways
After like...idk 2 months? approx? i decided i wanna root it. Guess what?! BOOTLOADER. WHAT THE ***T!!
Anyway, i spoke to some people, one said he hasnt rooted a phone passed gen 6. and the other person said 'no cant root. Bootloader is locked and no way to bypass.'
Soo im wondering if its possible to root the phone without removing bootloader? I dont restart my phone much and the whole bootloader doesnt worry me so im just curious if i can chuck a stock rom on without worrying about the bootloader.
Some background info:
I am Australian, therefore my phone is running under Australian networks (Boost, Lyca, Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, etc)
It is filled with unwanted, unnecessary AT&T bloatware.

AT&T note 4 update?
I'm seeing the most recent updates being in 2016. Is there any new updates on the progress of unlocking bootloader for this device?

Ripping encrypted DVDs (or DVDs locked to a region) = unlocked
PlayStation 3 = reverse engineered
iPhone = jailbroken
Why isn't the AT&T Note4 unlocked yet? Would offering a bounty help? Is it impossible to unlock? Is it a matter of time? Is it a matter of throwing lots of computation power against the lock?
What will finally get the AT&T Note4 unlocked?

Is there no bounty offered? If each ATT Note4 owner chips in a few dollars, we could raise a bounty of several hundred dollars. Then some tech-wiz can take much time trying to unlock the bootloader.
Anybody else willing to contribute to a bounty?

best buy won't update unlocked phones on different carriers

hey xda family long time no see, im just curious to see if anyone knows about this. i went to best buy to update my unlocked att note 4 since im on metro pcs and can't get the update because im on different carrier. when i went to the desk and told the guy what i wanted to do, he said no problem and i handed him my phone. when he plugged it up he had asked if it was an unlocked device and i said yes, he then asked if i had att i said no im on metro. he then said unfortunately because of best buys policy that he can't update my phone because i wasn't on att which didn't make any sense because i did the same thing with my last note 4 that unfortunately got watered damaged. apparently somebody with an unlocked t mobile phone tried to update through best and it hard bricked his phone, which is odd to me because the only way you could HARD brick your phone is unless he had the exynos note 4 or he had tried to install official software on a modified device which is a big no no. he kept telling me that because im on metro pcs i'd have to go to odin and reflash my note 4 back to att which made no sense because it's still an att phone it's just on a different carrier. i do know as long as you install the right firmware for your device in this case an update file thats exclusively for sm-n910a devices. what gives did i run into a clueless rep? im thinking of going to another best buy and just taking out the sim card and play stupid when they bring up the word unlocked. sorry for the long paragraph folks

Most of those reps are clueless.
Your phone is an AT&T version and is running AT&T firmware. Just tell them that it's an AT&T phone. Don't mention that you're using an unlocked device on Metro. I think you may have confused him by telling him that. He may have thought your Note 4 was a Metro version and running Metro firmware. They only have AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile firmware. They may have international too, but not sure. He probably was afraid to flash AT&T firmware onto what he thought was a Metro phone.
Again... clueless. I went there once and the idiots refused to work on my phone (needed to be reflashed and I couldn't get Odin to work) because I was using Nova Launcher. The guy said it wasn't Samsung's home screen and that I had hacked the phone to change it. Well, first, the 910a isn't rootable, and second, a launcher has nothing to do with root.

So you have a N910a unlocked on Metro PCS and you wanted to have the software updated to the latest? And you brought it into a Best Buy store to have them update the software? (sorry, your post is hard to read in a big block form like that).
May I ask: have you thought to try the update yourself? Even if you pulled the SIM card and connected via Wifi...

You need an AT&T sim card in order to get the update OTA. That, or the Odin files. Are the latest Odin files uploaded? If so, then that'd be the easiest (DIY) solution here. Make sure to back up your files though.

thank you all for your input, i managed to get the latest firmware through another best buy that was within reasonable driving distance. however, i still think att sucks for not allowing the bootloader to be unlocked and for being slow with marshmallow it's ridiculous. if att had the image files posted somewhere i wouldn't mind doing it myself.

Sprint Galaxy S6 (G920p)

So I have contacted spring 20 times, they have confirmed my SM-G920p is domestically unlocked. Getting a sim from AT&T and it says invalid Sim. I've searched everywhere, some forums say do a paid service (im fine with) others say unlocking from sprint works....which is obviously doest for my phone.
Anyone actually sucsefully unlocked a spring galaxy s6 (g920p.20) and used it on AT&T network? If so can you give me the details?
Thanks!
Question. Why on this phone in the network mode does it have options to use CDMA, LTE/CDMA, GSM, GSM/UMTS?
GSM AT&T works fine Idk why ppl say it doesn't work I have H2O which uses AT&T and I get LTE. Use a website called willmyphonework to find answers on stuff like this
This is the first website I've created to post about this topic. I've spent the past few days researching and testing out things. So far I've only found a few post online saying it works....I've not heard much about the sm-G920P NOT working on other networks. Also the phone itself is not made for CDMA or GSM ONLY.
One thing is for sure, one of my sm-G920p is domestically unlocked from Sprint. They also gave me a MLS or MSL# or whatever even though I dont think it matters. This phone will not take any AT&T sims. It says invalid sim.
With another sm-G920p, I rooted it and unlocked it another way...obviously not involving sprint. I will test it this evening to see if it accepts AT&T's sim card and will post my findings.
The whole reason for this is we have a business that goes though phones due to physical damage. I have a couple left over phones that I've replaced the screen on myself. I would like to let my sister and fiance use the galaxy S6s as they have old phones! All of these phones have been paid in full FYI and our account is in great standing.
Okidoki. I have spent some time working on unlocking a Spring Galaxy S6 SM-G920P with stock firmware ending in QB1. At first I found out that US carriers now have to unlock your phone if you ask. At first I went that route as it seemed legit. I called Spring and got a guy on the phone from tech support. I gave him the DEC# on the back of the phone and he said "Great thanks.....its unlocked." I though sick!...went to AT&T next day and got a nano sim activated. Once entered the phone read "Invalid Sim". I got back on the phone with sprint quit quickly while at AT&T. The lady said she had to send in a ticket to get it unlocked and the guy before definitely did not unlock it. Went home and went online again. Next day the lady called me at 11am and said it was domestically unlocked. I called back an hour later and talked to someone else confirming it was unlocked. Went to sprint, installed new activated sim...."Invalid Sim". Next thing was to root it and try unlocking it myself.
I found out how to root the phone and install custom firmware and whatnot. Its fairly easy, similar to computer basics. Once that was done I unlocked the phone with a little help which was not hard to find. I went to AT&T and BOOM!!! Phone worked RIGHT away. I was blown away. The phone had voice, data, msg, voice mail 3g and lte. Had my fiance put in her google info.....FYI this is my fiances AT&T account and a spare S6 I had that i fixed the screen on. Anyway she put her google account into it and restarted the phone. At the "samsung" logo login little red letters at the top say something about FRP is locked. The way you bypass this is right after you unlock the phone you need to go into the developer options and enable OEM Unlock. This fixes the lockout. But to get back into the phone once you lock it out you have to re root the phone with its original firmware.
It has worked all evening. Thanks Jhoward you gave me that last little boost today to get it working. I know the SM-G920P phone works in every network so I have no idea why people think it can only work on one network. Something I did learn is that these are little computers.....pretty cool!
If anyone needs any more info pm me.

They lie. It took me 5 calls and many hours to get one of my 2 s6 unlocked. There is some problem with original activation date on some of the phones.
They said both were unlocked but only one worked.... Until finally tech support fixed the activation date.
Now both work on T-Mobile very well
sprint is a little ***** when it comes to unlocking devices. i have never successfully unlocked a device from them. they will run circles of confusion around you just so you won't unlock.

Hello localphit, can you help me do the same with my Galaxy S6 G920P. Mines in currently on android 7.0 Patch January 1, 2018. Appreciate all the help that you can give.

I have been out of the game for a while but I was hoping one of y'all could help

My son had a T-Mobile branded S20 5G and I moved our service to Verizon. I paid his phone off and got it unlocked. Everything was working fine up until a couple of weeks ago. He did an update (didnt pay attention to what kind of update) and now he cant make or recieved calls or text (keepin mind the phone was working fine before this update). Attempts to call result in a message from Verizon saying that they cant authenticate his phone.
I *****ed at Samsung for a bit since his phone isnt rooted and even though its over a year old if a software update bricked it, I felt like they should have some ownership of the issue. It was a waste of time so now I'm back on the phone waiting for VZW tech support.
I think the issue is that its a TMO branded phone on VZW's network and everyone is pointing the finger at everyone else. My question is 2 fold.
1) has anyone ever experienced this before, and if so what did you do to resolve it and
2) I will attempt to root it and flash a ROm on it before I entertain buuying another phone.....hes got enough other **** hes dealign with financially he doesnt need to add a new phone purchase to his plate.
Any help would be much appreciated because I'm pissed the eff off at this point.
Yes we tried different APN settings...he walked into a VWZ store and they were able to get his data working but not voice or text....seems like something is out of whack with his radios). We also did a full factory reset.....same issue persists
I am not an expert on ROMs but I will give you my two cents. When I was playing with my unlocked phone, I realized that mine updated some CSC binaries as soon as I inserted the SIM. I saw some message for it updating the CSC code from XAA to TMB when I inserted TMO SIM on stock firmware. So my suggestion would be to try downloading VZW stock firmware from samfw.com and installing that.
