Hi,
I have the Find 7 with the new display panel.
I wanted to flash the latest version of TWRP but failed. I do not know what I did wrong.
I can use adb and fastboot without any problem. When trying to flash recovery, it says there that the flash was successful but when I reboot to recovery, TWRP was not installed and the original Oppo recovery is still there.
The bootloader is unlocked. And I tried relocking and unlocking again but to no avail. Whenever I use the command "fastboot oem unlock", nothing happens to the phone.
I am currently on spectrum. I want to try other roms such as the lite COS 2.15 and also maxwen roms since that only those supports the new panel.
I am also trying to get root for my phone and it is impossible without custom recovery.
Thanks for any help.
I had poop loads of issues with getting custom recovery on my Find 7a. Eventually I used these instructions:
http://community.oppo.com/my/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=996
They work. Don't know if it's the versions of ADB or Fastboot or something.
Give it a go

I will give it a go when I get back. Thanks!
This is what a forumer from the official forum said and it works:
After you had successfully flash recovery via fastboot, you MUST NOT reboot the device. AFAIK, if you reboot the device it will restore the recovery back to stock oppo recovery.
So instead, you need to immediately press vol down & power button on the fastboot screen. Keep holding the button until you see the TWRP recovery screen. Hope that helps. Cheers!""

Unlocking bootloader erases data?
Mine wouldn't flash recovery. It said successful but I still had oppo recovery 1.2 and it only worked when I found the latest official twrp over version 3. after flashing, I disconnected usb and then held down power button to shut the phone down. It then was able to boot to twrp ok.
I used the latest one.

After you have installed TWRP via adb you must boot (or stay there) into revocery and falsh the twrp-xxxx.img as "revocery" (buton down right to change from image to recovery).

Try this:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot.exe flash recovery twrp-xxxx.img
fastboot.exe boot twrp-xxxx.img (same filename as above)
Then flash the same twrp-xxx.img file via "install"
After this you can direct boot into revocery with apps like quickboot, or via Vol-Down, Power-On, or direkt via reboot meneu if you use G4 Tweak Box.
If you are on 6.0 the recovery will never boot up. But don't worry, all you need to do is just download kernel package like SimpleGX, from this package copy the boot.img, then flash it via fastboot. After that let the phone boot up, reboot it to bootloader again and flash twrp.img. If you did it properly the twrp will boot up. REMEMBER to flash full kernel package otherwise you can have problems with your device.

Never flash recovery for H811 on H815, there is reason why they are different.. You could have bricked your device. Yes flashing this boot.img is completely safe as long as you flash full package later, otherwise you might have problems with software. I've done so many times without any issue, anyway it's not a softbrick, you always reflash the firmware however be aware of that if you do it wrong and get your phone bricked without access to custom recovery there is no way to recovery your data. My G4 is dead but this is caused by the well know bootloop issue (hardware fail).

As I mentioned above in android 6.0 google have modified it as the stock kernel does not allow to use unsigned stuff even though your bootloader is unlocked. So only way to root/install recovery on android 6.0 smartphones is to flash modified boot.img that allows to load unsigned things. If you flash recovery without changing stock kernel you'll not brick your device but the recovery will never open, but flashing superSU might brick your device, Autoprimes flashable zips include modified boot.img I suppose.

i have no more idea what to do... i have flashed the kernel... and then recovery but when i want to enter recovery nothing happens it doesnt load. after some seconds the phone boots up normal.
before that i have tried twrp manager but the app crashes every time i want to select the recovery to install.
flashify is same as flashing over fastboot.
what is the difference between the 2 versions of twrp? h811 got another kernel than h815 but why can i load this one but the right for h815 not?

I have no idea honestly, try to reflash the firmware. Recovery doesn't load only if you don't flash boot.img properly.

Hi, yestarday I flashed CM 14 with TWRP to try it, and today I have tried to return to stock rom & recovery but I can't do it. At the beginning I have tried to flash stock recovery that I have downloaded from op.net with fastboot and I couldn't do it and after I have tried to do the same process but this time flash it with TWRP and also this time I couldn't able to fix it. In fine I have installed the stock ROM via TWRP and I managed to install it but now the problem is that I still can not install the stock recovery and accordingly I can't install op3 update.
An another problem is that I have tried to re-lock OEM from fastboot and when I try to turn on the phone, is asks me a pin to enable it and I don't know that pin because I haven't set no one

No it isn't. Because I managed to put stock ROM into it via adb with push command and after I have installed it from twrp that works. My only problem is that i can't flash stock recovery.

Great. Can I place the file in beta8 rom .zip file and flash it using adb ??
If this procedure doesn't you can download an older version of oxygen os and update it via ota. At the first attempt when you will try it will give you an error and at the second attempt It will download all the ROM again and it will reflash by itself

Thank you.
Will let you know if it worked.
I had that problem.
Solution as follows, worked everytime for me: (I have not tried this method with the newest beta 8)
1. Flash OOS 3.2.6 firmware in twrp.
2. Reboot to fastboot and flash official oxygen os recovery downloaded from the OnePlus website. (This is still the old version for some reason, thus why it won't work)
3. Side load community build with oxygen os recovery, this will flash the new firmware back and update the recovery to be community build compatible.
4. Before rebooting erase everything (factory restore)
5. Reboot to OOS, finish setting up.
6. Turn on advance reboot in developer settings.
7. Reboot to recovery via the reboot menu. First time boot into the recovery may take sometime, but it has always worked for me.
8. After everything looks good, go ahead and OEM lock in fastboot, recovery should work as usual this time and format your phone
OP did you find a solution to this?? Im on the same boat as you
I've got a rooted phone w/ an unlocked bootloader.
I've installed TWRP using ADB.
When I try to get into recovery (by using the physical buttons while booting) nothing happens. When I try to get into recovery via ADB, I get "no devices found"
What am I doing wrong?
Some background:
I flashed KK 4.4 using Flashtool.
Then I successfully installed and accessed TWRP. I tried and failed to install a custom ROM (AICP), but couldn't get it to sideload.
At that point, my device had no OS, so I re-flashed KK4.4, hoping that I could get the ADB sideload to work if I started from the beginning.
But now I'm back at the beginning, and I can't even get into recovery.
When I flash TWRP via fastboot, it successfully writes. But I can't boot into recovery.
Please help!
Disregard. I was able to access TWRP after I flashed the boot.img that came in the original platform tools.
It goes without saying that once I flash that boot.img, I'm unable to get into KK 4.4. I am, however, able to get back to TWRP, where hopefully I'll be able to flash a ROM.
Once again, however, I'm not able to flash AICP. It fails every single time.

You can try to pull boot img from aicp and flash it in two, then try to flash the rom, but not sure. You may have to flash LP first, just use a prf. Also, if you use Emma to update bootloader, (if you didn't already), then you can use real recovery, (twrp 3+), and it should work.

I just finished process myself, just to test, and works fine-
1. Download Emma
2. Download twrp3
3. Download Kingroot
4. Download Rashr
Plug phone into computer in flash mode after starting Emma, and you'll see option to flash newest fw. After flashing, restart and install Kingroot. After rooting, use Rashr to flash twrp3. Then power off, and hold power and volume down to enter recovery.

Is there any way to do this that doesn't involve KingRoot? The whole "sends your info to a Chinese IP" aspect of KingRoot creeps me out.

two ways:
1) after you install the rom using EMMA connect the phone in fastboot mode and flash Advanced Kernel 18.1. it comes with its own twrp recovery. then boot to recovery and flash SuperSU zip.

Haven't tried Lineage yet, but with CM, they had their own recovery which had to be overwritten after flash. Boot up, install Rashr, flash TWRP IMG with Rashr, then try again.
Also, real recovery is a good idea, if you don't have it yet. You need to flash stock with Sony Emma tool, then you have ta update, with real recovery capability.

Hello everyone. I got a M8s from a friend wich is stuck in bootloader. The recovery didn't work at the begin, so I flashed twrp-recovery-2.8.6.0-m8s-qlul.img (flashing recovery using htc_fastboot.exe flash recovery theimagename.img) and it worked, then I tried to install a custom ROM Android_Pandora_Rom_1.2_(Discontinued).zip wich went all the steps fine until: Optimizing applications 8 of 204..then phone shat down to black screen. I booted back to bootloader, recovery, wiped and go for a new install, same issue.
After that, I was going to install lineage-13.0-20170715-UNOFFICIAL-m8qlul.zip where the developer of this rom recommends twrp-3.0.2-0-m8ql.img so I tried to flash it (flashing recovery using htc_fastboot.exe flash recovery theimagename.img), then tried to acces recovery, brings me back to bootloader so fast, rebooted bootloader, tried again, same problem. Tried the fasboot erase cache, no help.
The Hboot state is Unlocked and the S is ON. I tried some other recovery images, as stock_signed or 3.0.1, tried the one from M8 ToolKit but all failed and I still can't access recovery, everyting I do, it brings me back to bootloader. I did htc_fastboot boot recoveryfile.img wich works, but useless, the dd if= method to set the recovery permanent load did not work after reboot, /data and /system can't be mountet, it seems the "boot recovery" option is 99% readonly.
Any advice, any help please? It would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Hi McBad,
you could try the following. I also had some problems to access the recovery.
- Again bring the phone into fastboot, flash the 2.8 recovery and access it
- Do a wipe for factory reset, not just only cache
- after that try to flash the twrp-3.0.1-0-m8ql.img version, the other one worked for me neither
- the try to install the custom ROM LOS13
I hope this will help you.
clone
It would be great if that would work, but flashing a recovery does not work. I flash it, success message, try to access it, vibrates and bootloader pops back instantly. That is the problem.
Sorry for double post, but can anyone help me with this? This is the second day I struggle to make it work. Any chance to make the hboot locked again? It didn't work with oem lock command. I would like to lock it so I can put an official zip on sdcard so the hboot to restore it to factory stock, some RUU. Or get it s-off so I can flash a rom from fastboot? The phone does not have any ROM on it, image crc results system 0x0, recovery 0x0. Please, help!
Have you tried sideloading twrp ?

Is there any way you could flash twrp 2.8 again? Once in that recovery you have sideloading option which you could use to transfer latest recovery onto your device. Are we talking about the same process?

You can't install lineage if you haven't upgraded your device with latest official update. I would try reinstaling twrp 2.8, do a wipe of cache, dalvik cache and system, Sideload CM 12; and see how it goes. As well, while in twrp I would try relocking bootloader but only after an unsuccessful attempt to flash said rom. I don't know what your experience with soft bricked devices is, but sometimes it takes a while, different usb cable or usb slot on your PC, correct files in adb folder, re-download of rom or recovery because it easily gets corrupted while downloading. And obviously a fully charged device. Let us know how it goes.
