[Q&A] [ROM][v500][AOSP] Android 6.0 Marshmallow - 20151118 - MRA58V - G Pad 8.3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm a newbie
First of all, I would like to thank the people who did this to our ROM.
After a few days of use, I have a few minor comments, would be great if it becomes a reality
1. I've checked OTA update but not working? Is it because my equipment was root?
2. Back Buttton can switch right on Navibar?
3. Able to add LG Camera and LG Gallery okay? Because GG Cam seems not very well
4. Chrome often stop and lag when viewing pages with many photos: ((
Again, thank you for reading. Sorry about which my poor english

Hi. I can't answer all your questions, but I can address one. You can't use stock LG apps on non-stock ROMs, at least not for the camera - I don't know about the gallery but I doubt it.

KitKat does have some issues on OG. I've noticed a dramatically better battery life.
You can flash back the Jelly Bean KDZ file as described in several posts such as "Freaking Annoying Questions".

No OTAs on the phone, you'll have to download the .zip from the thread and flash it over the previous build
wifi and celluar location doesn't work
I flashed the rom two times: with gapps and without gapss. Wifi and celluar location doesn't work for me, only GPS works. I can find my location outdoor using google maps, but I can't find where I am when I'm in my house. FML have the same issuse with my phone, and I also have "Location" Mode to "High accuracy", for both roms.
Cellular Data DIsable
I just installed Lollipop 5.0.1 ROM and it works great. I need to disable Cellular Data on my phone since I don't have a data plan with my Carrier. KitKat Rom let me disable it but can this be done on Lollipop??
KitKat 4.4.4 version has a "Mobile Networks" ON/OFF feature, in SETTINGS, that disables Cellular Data.
I checked in the Settings...More, section of Lollipop and it only lets me disable Cellular Roaming. I can't find the section to disable Cellular Data.
I did find out that if I install my SIM card, I could go to Settings--->Data Usage section and Cellular Data can then be turned ON and OFF, BUT only if I have a SIM card installed. If I take out the SIM card and then to the same place, Cellular Data is not shown; can't turn it ON or OFF.
Much different under KitKat, with KitKat, "Mobile Networks" is shown whether I have a SIM card installed or not.
Would help if Android Lollipop stayed with this type of KitKat option.
Thanks.
Google caller id appears to be lost on my device after clean install. Also "Advanced call settings" in dialer settings is missing. (I used the mini gapps.)
Congrats for the great job you did!

Thanks for the awesome rom! Gps / Location doesn't work. Any fix?
Google Camera doesn't work. Camera error: "Can't connect to the camera".
But Camera 360 works so far.
Ending call BUG
Hi! This is great. Very fast, pretty stable.
I had in two days a single problem, but a big one, that made me change to another ROM.
I had this bug three times in a day and it happened after I tried to make a call, no ring, and when i hit end call it remains stuck saying "Ending call". If I hit the home button and try to make a call again it asks me if i want to add to the current call. And it stays like this, stucked.
The major problem is that nobody could call me in this time. And i didn't receive a message with missed calls either.
I hope this helps you to fix this and I'm pretty sure that I will switch back to your ROM after this problem is solved.
Thank you and keep up the good work!
Thanks. for rom

When LRX22G build and fix camera ?
Thanks.
When you gonna fix Camera?
Working as daily driver
I was on SlimKat 4.4.4 and Fancy Kernel before flashing this. Here is what I did:
TWRP 2.8.1.0
Wipe - the standard one that TWRP says "this is what you need"
Flash this ROM
Flash Minimal Plus Gapps
Flash SuperSU.zip
First boot takes a little longer but I didn't get any boot loops or issues on first boot. Device still rooted after above steps.
Workaround for camera and Flash
1. Install Camera Zoom FX (Camera 360 works but it is a clunky camera)
2. Camera Zoom FX torch function is the only flashlight that works that I checked
Camera bug;
Do not use the inbuilt Flash toggle from Notification Drawer. It will kill all camera function no matter what camera you use.
If you use the Flash, you will need to uninstall Camera Zoom FX, reboot and reinstall Camera Zoom FX again.
Basically, you touch the Flash toggle, camera is dead.
Lag
SeFIX and FSTrim does not seem to do anything other than slowing the phone dramatically. I find that Trickster Mod is also useless.
I amusing it as my daily driver and it is awesome. Galaxy Nexus is damn old but with Lollipop, it just feels new. Thanks to OP!!
Why does it take so long for the keypad to show when you enter the PIN at boot with this ROM?
Until the PIN has been entered, The Phone shows No Net but apart from that it's completley open until the pin-lock is activated much too late. Not good. Otherwise I like this ROM a lot. Really stable and works like a charm besides from this big security problem which I hope will be adressed.
Nice work
Is there anything I can do about low ram / media and background apps dying? I've read that task killers are pointless. Will Greenify help?
Thank you
Thanks for the rom, I'm testing and i found it stable (with bugs reported, of course) but many times takes its time (couple of/3 seconds) when I lunch an app.
I think that the biggest issue is about the battery performance, mine run out in few hours and 'Juice defender' tells some errors that I don't understand in main-page app
I tested many camera apps with both single shot & panorama feature but everyone was going down... So the 2 best apps for stability & fast are in my opinion 'fotocamera HD' and 'Photaf Panorama' (both free with nervous advertising in-app) Unfortunately every video of any camera apps appear with green strip...
I listen many radio stations too an 'tunein' continue closing but 'Radio FM ' works perfectly and really fast.
Nokia Here works very good (with offline maps too) but need every time a minute first before to connect with gps
These are just my suggests for noobs like me that had installed their first custom rom. ))
Absolutly young for those who make an intensive use of the gnex, but for my use is good enought and permit a couple of year more of mine, so THANK YOU VERY MUCH. Obviously I'v got often with me my olympus e-pl5...
Grazie!!!!
awesome work!
Thanks for this awesome Android L for my Gnex! It feels like a new phone!
You are a great dev!
Good ROM, no battery drain. Thank you
Thanks for the update

[Q] Quick question on whether to ditch stock ROM

Afternoon folks,
I'm debating whether to root my D855 and ditch the stock ROM in favour of CM12. I don't there's much about the stock install that I'd miss, but one thing I'm wondering about is how the Google Camera app compares to the LG one. Has anyone noticed any pros/cons to using the camera after flashing a custom ROM? I love the ability to take a selfie by clenching my fist, but I rarely take these so it wouldn't be too much of a loss.
Also, does CM12 improve control over the speaker volume? With the stock install I have a huge gap between silent and the first volume level - particularly annoying for alarms.
Any comments/thoughts appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Gray

Camera issues? Redoing CFW / refreshing??

Hi all, decided to finally google my issue i have with my LG G4 camera [seems its a wider problem and lots have it. [Constantly autofocusing when using video, photos or even snapchat, especially when videoing something you can hear the autofocusing really loudly, same with using the torch app too]. Also im not sure which or what CFW i have on but i was wondering how i would go about refreshing it all [android ver = 6.0, kernal = 3.10.84] I have bootloader unlocked etc.......honestly ill i admit i remember it all being a pain, complicated n took me about half a day lol
Basically is it easy to fresh, wip start over with a newer CFW?
Is the camera hardware or sofatware? [I had sent it off to LG prior to CFW it]
thanks in advance

Best Mi 5s custom ROM for photos and videos

Hello !
I love taking photos and shooting videos with my phone and I always listen to music with Bluetooth headphones.
I looked for some custom ROMs in the forum but I'm a little lost about stability, what is working and what is not.
So I wanted your help guys and girls please.
I see that LineageOS 15.0 seems pretty stable but there's A LOT to read and tbh, I don't have the courage to do that haha.
If Android Pay could work too on it, that would be awesome but I don't have that much hope about that.
Thanks in advance for your answers and time,
Cordially,
bmx22c.
I'm very content with LOS 14.1 as it worked flawless since I installed it several months ago, but ViperOS also has a good track record when it comes to stabilty.
For camera it's easy, just install the last APK in the thread, where there are also suggestions about how to set it up every few posts:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...google-camera-camera-api2-fix-t3655211/page70
60fps video recording has some issues with several people though, so if are among them, try to use the ROM camera app for video. Photo's are best in the above app.
Android pay will probably work when you install Magisk (which roots the device and makes it pass the various security checks for stuff like Netflix and online banking), which also has plugins for music quality in the "Magisk Manager" app:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Personally, I use the Dolby plugin for sound (not sure if this version is still found in Magisk Manager):

Thanks for your answer !
I will look into LOS 14.1 !
I'm mainly using the phone to shoot photos in RAW format (raw format let you save all data from the camera in case you are not familiar with photos) but I have read some threads about the Google Camera APK and it really looks cool !
For 60 FPS, it may be an issue, but I'm mainly recording in 4K30i so if 4K works, it's okay for me
Oh ! Magisk ! Never used it haha, I always used SuperSU, it may be time for me to update my knowledge, thanks !
I used to install Viper4Android but if Dolby work, that's fine, I mean, at least bluetooth needs to work haha !
Thanks again for your answer !
4k30fps works, so no problem there. You can BTW also manually install Magisk modules, so you can try out whatever soundmod you please.
/EDIT: For the camera app, look at the latest posts for the newest version!

Have you ever tested LOS 15.0 ? I mean, it is the latest version, am I right ?
I have not tested it yet because there are some serious security bugs still left, plus some random stuff popping up. I'd rather wait a bit more before I move as it is so new. Recently there has been news that LineageOS is planning to merge android 8.0 with 8.1 in the coming weeks (with not 1 phone having LOS 15 officially yet), so that might possibly introduce more bugs. Call me a chicken, but I like my phone working whenever I need it.

Oh ok thanks, I didn't knew that it was THAT early, thanks for the informations, I really appreciate it !
Tbh, I liked changing ROMs on my older phone but I didn't do that for like 2 years now and I'm pretty lost on LOS versions.
EDIT: One last question. Do you have any tips as when installing LOS 14.1 ? I'm still in MIUI 8 and I haven't changed my recovery.
My bootloader is unlocked.
I think (correct me if I'm wrong) I need to install TWRP and then wipe DATA + SYSTEM then flash ZIP (+ GAPPS later).
EDIT 2: I'm pretty scared tbf because last phone I had was a Honor 7 and it was just so painful not to brick the phone.. Installing version was painful like you needed x amout of instructions not to brick it and I just hope I won't lose any personnal data (personnal files, I know that SMS will be wiped)
EDIT 3 (yup, that many edit haha): I only see "nightly" version, is this correct, or is there any "stable" one ?
Well, as far as I read, they are more stable than I expected (as in: the bugs are relatively minor, thus it is useable if you are not easily annoyed) and the devs are making progress REALLY fast. So maybe in a months time or so it might already be worth for even the more cautious users to switch. Kinda depends on what kind of user you are. But from your text I figured you are someone who prefers stability over bleeding edge features.

Well, I'm an experienced Android user, and I had a pretty bad experience with my last phone which was a pain in the back for developers, so ROMs where not stable at all, video recording looked like sh*t, apps crashed etc. So I'm not against a bug here and there you know
Hi,
I'm just going to borrow this thread for a second, as I am looking for a similar thing. I would like to just add one more important factor for me and that is battery life. Would you say that this is also the best on Los 14.1? Are there any tweaks necessary in order to get the most out of the battery, similar to camera or sound tweaks? Is there still a battery drain associated with the fingerprint sensor?
Thank you!
For me battery life is fine as it is, but great after installing ForceDoze (Magisk module) after another user recommended it. No added trouble, so also a strong recommendation there.
To be extra certain you could flash the latest official Global MIUI first before flashing LOS as it installs the latest firmwares. It might be that you have to reinstall TWRP though.
