What is wrong with this stats? - LG Optimus G Pro

Hi I am a bit fuzzed by my device's stats. I mean, the phone has good to bad battery life, thanks to the alarms and wakelocks that bugs my phone. Attached are screenies from BBS.
BP 4.0.3 UNOFFICIAL 11/7 build from @dave71670 + Open Gapps 11/13 micro + WK#5 reloaded + for F240x
I like opinions from @ShadySquirrel , @nerdyblonde , and @Emmanuel U

If you're having bad battery life, you may want to look in other areas. According to those screenshots, not much is bogging your phone as it's getting a lot of deep sleep. Do you have an old battery?

Yup. My batteries the ones included on the phone when I bought it.

As a matter of fact, I also suspect my batteries are the ones causing trouble. They are 2 years old.

And yet it still has decent performance for what a bench proves..lol

Those are good stats. :good:
My battery heats up pretty quick when playing games like World of Warriors, Mortal Kombat X, Magic 2015, etc.

[VOTE] OpenDesire Vs DeFroST (Best Battery Life Thread)

Place your vote's of which ROM has the best battery life for your phone.
Good thread! I'm very intrested to see wich ROM has the better battery life!
Isn't this a bit pointless as they are basically very similar roms.

As far as I know - DeFroST is based on OD. So nothing to compare or vote here.

Not entirely the same. And both on different kernels also.

I had very bad surprises with both roms.
But I think the real problem are some apps.
Camera360 for example kills your battery in 2 hours.
So I don't vote

Defrost is completely build from source with cyanogenmod packages and framework. Kernel is different also (no overvolt [email protected]). Look at my github: http://github.com/richardtrip/

Thank you Richard. So there will be different battery life between the 2 ROM's. People need to stop saying that DeFroST is a total rip from OpenDesire.

I agree.
There WAS a time when OD and DF is almost similar inside out but as of lately both ROMs are very much different.
But on the question of which had better battery life my vote goes to DF. OD seems to be unstable lately and has turned out to be more experimental then stable (e.g implementation of multitouch droid keyboard, switching to HTC keyboard and now infusing elements from Galaxy S). I had more better power drain on DF and CM6.
Cor, this all seems familiar.
Anyway, instead of polls which to be frank are worthless in this regard, has anyone actually done any measured testing between battery lives of different versions of different ROMs? That might actually be useful and interesting.

how can an app which only runs when you open it explicitly drain the battery in 2 hours (unless you sit there with the camera on for 2 hours)
I've very bad experience with OpenDesire battery... I can't say the same about DeFrost, wich has a good battery life

I was once with OpenDesire a few days ago and don't consider going back because one night i had 59% battery charge and woke up the next morning finding that it's dead.
Going back to DefroST and running my same old apps that i previously had on OD works just fine. With my phone with plenty of charge the next morning
i think this thread would be more useful if people would give their specific experiences with the roms they use the most, as i'm sure there are quite a number of people that haven't tried one or the other long enough to give substantial feedback. i think people should include:
which version of the rom(s) they tested/used
what kind of battery life they experienced and with what type of usage (i know it's subjective and everyone gets different results, but it's better than just voting for the rom you used and saying it's the best)
length of time that was allowed to test (there have been occasions where rebooting or going through a complete charging cycle have yielded better battery life. so it should be noted if people only allowed the rom they tested to be on their phone for maybe 20% or whatever, or a couple of hours)
and any other information people think might help/be useful to others
also what radio people are running would be very useful as well
This is a development forum.
I think that this type of thread are useless, since battery life is too "personal" to sort with a silly poll.
Battery life is meant to be professionally tested with some program, with the same device. One can have faulty battery, another one can have a non calibrated battery, another one a new battery.
My two cents.

I tried DeFrost just for a while to see Quadrant score. So I can't say something certain about it's battery life. But OpenDesire I'm using rigt now has great battery life. I mentioned that today in OD thread also. With normal use(Web, lots of messaging, GPS etc. 768 mhz cpu speed (it does 1300 Quadrant score with that speed) and 2G mobile network) I've used it for 70 hours. Really impressive I think.

For what reason?
soooo many different aspects to battery life that just asking randomly to 'vote' is indeed not helping too much.
I won't say it as blunt as 'please close this thread' but really helpful it's not.
For example, what if - eehhhhm, let's pick Defrost - DeFrost comes out as 75% voting to have better battery life. A new user comes in, sees DeFrost as better, and picks that one. His battery drains within an hour, and he is thinking "WTF?!? insert random roob rage stuff here WTF!?!?!"
This happens all the time. Battery usage users are _so_ different based on usage, network provider, location and apps used / installed that the ROM really doesn't have much influence.
Only if there is a real 'bug' it's noticeable, and the dev's are quickly on it then.

[Q] Lost few mVs on fully charged battery.

Evenin' lads, faced a small issue with my battery yesterday, right after a person "accidentally" cleared battery stats. Currently i'm running Unofficial Cyanogenmod 7.2.0-RC0-marvel-KANG (2.3.7), no OC, average RAM free at around 240-260MB. Back to the battery, tho: before the battery stats were cleared, the battery loaded up to 4200mV. Now, the highest voltag i can reach is 4196, rarely 4197mV. Is there any way to fix the issue in hand, or am i "doomed" to live with 4mV less?

Main thing: not only should i sue "them", but also shoot "them" on sight. In "their" nuts. To be bit serious for a minute: i'm fully aware it's not worth mentioning, since it's under 0.05%. However, i'd love to know what could cause this when deleting battery stats and what one can do about it in case it'd happen again.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus Battery

Hi guys ,
hi have a big problem with battery life , i use AOKP build 4 and i tried a lot of roms e and a lot of kernels , but the battery runs out at 15;00 ... i don't know why , i try to wipe everithing but nothing , i want to activate data al day and arrive in the evening with still battery... any advices???
Bring a charger
On the real, if it's that important I'd suggest an extended battery. I use the free 2100 mAh and barley get through a day. Turning data off does make a big difference in consumption though. One thing I noticed, Lean Kernel does well for battery life.

Should have been posted in Q&A too.
Juice Defender will manage your LTE/cell radio for you. It's made my atrix's battery go up by like 10 hours a day.
After reading all these positive comments about the stock kernel regarding battery life, I guess I don't even bother with all the other Kernels...

[Q] Cyanogenmod 10 battery life on normal usage.

Hi guys,
I recently switched to CM 10 (Android 4.1.2) and the battery life is significantly lower than what I had on the stock ROM and the new Sense UI... I guess.
My phone won't run longer than 10-15 hours a day with normal usage, which means Wi-fi and 3G always on, screen on automatic brightness being used for about 1 hour in total (for one charge). However Android OS, Cell Standby and Phone Idle still account for the most battery usage, which I find weird. I have no wakelocks and my device goes to deep sleep when not used.
Is this normal behavior with the new Cyanogenmod and Jellybean or are my expectations too high? I already read most threads concerning battery life, but most of them discuss problems such as wakelocks or similar issues. My question relates to the normal behavior of CM 10.
I am grateful for all replies on the matter or personal experiences.
It's known that CM10 battery life is worse than stock JB. You can try different kernels and different governors, but it's a trade-off between life and performance.

I don't understand, I thought that CM is stripped out of unnecessary background processes and apps. As long as I'm not using any CPU or GPU intensive apps like games it should consume less battery than the stock ROM. Is there something I'm missing?
Maybe the updated kernel and drivers give better power effeciency. When the JB kernel source is released, hopefully CM10 and other AOSP ROMs will also improve.
You were saying about on screen time?
Sent from my faster than SGS3 HOX.
CM 10 really uses a lot of battery but of you could switch off wifi and 3g when not using, and clearing all the apps frequently in the recent menu may help... My battery then lasts from about the start of the day till night though the batterys now quite old.

i got a weird battery life yesterday, i was walking from work to home, i started watching videos on youtube, looked at the battery, 31%, after few videos looked again, still 31%, i walked 41 mins with a total of 9% of battery drain, i also played a game for about 25 mins, it was a really battery life.

That's pretty much my battery life as well. Regarding age, I'm really concerned, as I'm not able to open the phone and just replace it. But I guess that much better smartphones will come along before I consider getting a new battery and it won't be worth it any more.

I get that sometimes as well. I pick up the phone a couple of times and the battery is always at, say, 50%. Then, a couple of hours later I read a message and it suddenly jumps to 41 or lower. But from what I've read that's normal and no cause of concern.

I heard what causes the CM10 to have such an awful battery life is something that was supposed to save power when you lock your phone [Which is normally quiet often] and actually causes it to depelt, so it obvoiusly doesn't affect screen time
CM10 is a horrible ROM, get something else... I used LiquidSmooth for a while, it's a great ROM
Now running ParanoidAndroid 2.53
Btw, Stock ROM had a wonderful battery life, I only realize that now ... lots of ROMs can't reach that much

That's exactly what I did, flashed the old RUU and installed all updates. I don't know how the guys from HTC managed to do it, but the battery life on Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4+ is AMAZING. I easily get 24 hours with normal usage, over 2 days if I'm really careful.
This is what I got during a night sleep with cm 10.
I installed it yesterday so its kinda new tot me. What causes this?
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Probably some nasty wakelocks. Install with wipe/factory reset if you didn't so already. Then try betterbatterystats (search xda) to find out what is causing wakelocks.

[Q] JellyBam 4.0

Can anyone comment on battery life for the new release of jelly bam? I have been getting 50+ hours and over 7 hrs of screen on out of my gorilla gadgets extended battery and I don't want to lose that performance. I would post this in the jellybam thread in the dev section, but I have fewer than ten posts and I can't. Thanks for your input.

Usually, battery life only gets better. Also, not many people have your extended battery so it's gonna be very hard to compare.
I'm currently using 4.0 with stock kernel and i'm getting good battery, life the same as before.
I guess I should have asked how is the battery life as compared to the previous version(s) of the rom.

I've actually found the battery to be a lot worse for me for the time being. I was getting killer battery life but now it's beyond awful. I don't necessarily think it's 4.0's fault, but i have something definitely going rogue and draining and can't seem to pin it on anything in particular. My two biggest drainers according to GSAM are "Android System" and "Kernel (Android OS)", so that's why I don't think it's a particular app or anything. This is since updating to 4.0.
