Bricking xperia m, because of swapper app - Sony Xperia M

History: i have already repartition my sdcard to two partition, first is ext4 and second is fat32, the ext4 partition appears as mmcblk1p2, then i want to enable ram swap via swapper app, but unfurtunatelly i not check swapper setting to change mmcblk0p2 (i don't know this partition is called what, but this is internal partition) to mmcblk1p2, then i reboot my device and bangggggggg, my device never live again, no fastboot mode, no flashmode, but if i unplug my battery then i charge my nicki, the led are on of one second ..
My ask is, can i repair my nicki with free software ?
I have already ask some people who can repair my device, but the price is so wow, and i not want to sell my nicki as part for other ..
Yes now i have sirius, but i really miss my nicki, i miss ron and justarchi work xd

Without flashmode and fastboot, there's nothing much to do. So yes, you have to change the motherboard.

[Q] Is it possible to enable sd-ext for locked bootloaders

Hi there, I've messing arround a while with moving system apps to sd-ext, but it seems impossible to me.
I'm using a rooted .42 with CWM installed and the uSD is a 32 GB class 6 with 3 partition:
- main: FAT32 -> +30 GB
- sd-ext: ext3 -> 1 GB (also tried with a ext2 and ext4)
- swap: linux swap -> 64 MB
I'm kinda desperate to have it working, tried a lot of scripts and software and cannot make it.
Any suggestion?
Only custom kernel can support moving apps to sd-ext(ext2,3,4) like Doomlord's kernel. Since you have locked bootloader, you cannot flash custom kernel. So no matter how you partition your sdcard right now, your stock kernel won't recognise it. My advice, unlock your bootloader and flash a custom kernel that supports sd-ext partition. I currently have 1 gig ext4 partition and it's more than enough for all my apps.

System app to sd-ext? You mean dalvik cache?
You can move user apps (stored in /data/app).
Root your fw. Then you can use Link2SD to move user apps to ext2.
I'm using that right now.
If you would like to use a2sd script, add init.d support as described by iridaki and use script from htc desire oxygen rom.

@Rycon33 Thanks mate, I'll look forward to it, but the main problem is that I have an operator locked device, so I guess that I have to pay, even if I get the IMEI unlock code from the operator, am I right?
@vr5411 I'm not looking to move certain apps to the sd but to mount /data/app in an special sd partition called sd-ext. But thanks anyway

Not really sure about that coz here in my area even we get our phone thru carrier on contract, we can just easily unlock it personally in fastboot after we got our code from Sony Ericsson website. Maybe in your area it's a different case.
I think there's a thread somewhere in dev section for those really operator-locked phone that cannot be unlock easily and yes I think you need to pay for the unlocking.

You can use Link2SD on locked bootloader too.

[Q] Couldn't see sd-ext from Ubuntu (Gparted)

I try to partition my sd-card using ClockworkMod Recovery 5.8.0.0.
It went ok, and I can see my partition using adb shell
Code:
# mount
...
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 on /sd-ext type ext3 (rw,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,barrier=1,nodelalloc,data=ordered)
/dev/block/mmcblk0p1 on /sdcard type vfat (rw,nodev,noatime,nodiratime,fmask=0000,dmask=0000,allow_utime=0022,codepage=cp437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro)
I want to convert ext3 to ext4 so I plug my phone in the USB and mount it in the recovery.
However Gparted can't find any partition in my sdcard. When I try to view it using disk utilities It only shows the FAT32 partition.
I don't understand why gparted can't detect any partition ( it shows unallocated ). Something wrong with the partition table of the sd-card formatted by CWM ? Anyone have solved this before ?
Delete all partitions on your SD card and then partition again.

How to delete them if I can't see them ? I try to re-partition using CWM but still the same.
Delete partitions with cwm, and then create 1 big fat 32 partition. Alternately use Linux fdisk, which will "see" it.
After one partition is created, use parted, or 4ext.
fdisk or parted both can't find any partition...
But anyway.. after installing MIUI which convert my partition to ext4 automatically the problem is gone, every partition can be seen... So it must be some problem with CWM partition script
It ought to detect the partitions if you use a micro sd card reader. I assume you connected it via the Desire, in recovery?

Yes, maybe that's the problem. I connected it via the Desire in recovery.
What could be wrong ? Because now (after flashing MIUI_xj xpart), I can see all partitions though connected via the Desire.

... exactly what I thought atm
when you mount ur desire with usb mass storage option under recovery, it mount ONLY the FAT partition...
put the microsd in a microsd adapter on ur laptop..u will see both...
@droidzone come on, don't call CWM crappy ..every recovery is based on that..koush did a great work in order to write it for about every device (a tons of device support it now)..i agree it's a basic recovery (and maybe there are some limitations)..but it's thanks to that base recovery that now devs can easily mod it and improve it...it's like you and ur rom..ur rom its probably the best htc sense based rom for the desire, but you will never be able to do that without the crappy htc rom, and htc was never be able to do that without the crappy aosp rom made by google..i hope you got what i mean lol...modify is easy than create something from new
@andQlimax, my bone of contention is not with Koush's CWMR. It is with that half baked product called "Clockwork mod touch for Desire" that was recently released here without proper testing (the OP was using this, and his problems are directly caused by the faulty recovery). The very least the "developer" should test is to do a full backup and restore on his own phone after compilation. He has no right to treat poor hapless newbies as guinepigs. I wonder if that person even owns a Desire. If he did and he missed the fact that the recovery he released does not have the capacity to make sd-ext backups, I really feel for him.
People trust developers who release Recovery. If they cant trust their recovery to make proper backup, what's the point of calling it a Recovery software?
I have the utmost respect for Koush, Paul O'Brien and others for their development work. I dont intend to mean any sort of disrespect for those masters and pioneers of Android development. I also respect them for keeping CWMR; and Cyanogen for keeping CM open source despite all circunstances.
anyway i think the touch recovery posted in the dev section come directly from the koush build, he released it and it's on its site http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager for some devices
koush usually ask some people to test the recovery for him before he release it, probably someone didn't noticed that bug
Thank you. I wasnt aware of that. But I see that the subversion has increased to 5.8.0.2 while yorzua has still attached the faulty 5.8.0.0.

Yes I Rebooted many times, but it is not working, infact after partition, it was aceessing the card, but was not opening gallery, so I rebooted the phone, after rebooting, it is not teading card. Plz give suggestions, what to do now
Did you finalise the settings after partitioning?
Connect your phone in MSC mode. Open MiniTool Partition Wizard and see if it can detect your memory card.
Chances are that you didn't compete the instructions that were given.

yeah I checked it, it is not detecting memory card, as per my thought , I completed the instructions What else can be done ??
get a hold of memory card reader and let the computer recognize your sd card..i m sure it will..once recognized make one primary fat32 partition..then format it and start the process again
did you make a right partition?
i mean you set a fat32 , ext2, and etc. correctly?
i think you must check it again
sorry for my bad english.

Thanks mate, i checked it on memory card reader and ii can detect the whole card, now what to do, as your reply, again I should make partition , and if I would format it all data would be erased, although now I have taken backup of all the data , can after formatting, this data can be pasted on the the formatted card and get my phone's all applications back ?
now remove the partition wat u had made earlier...and follow the below instructions
1. Backup your SDcard and apps because everything on it might be erased
2. Reboot into CWM
3. Go to advanced
4. Partition SDcard ( choose anything , recommended 512 MB or higher )
5. Swap size any ( recommend 64 MB or higher )
6. Wait till it finishes , it will take a while .
7. reboot and open up Link2SD
8. It will ask you for SD second partition , choose ext3 . (if it didn't continue to the next steps of 9 )
9 a) **Do this only if step 8 wasn't prompted** Go to Link2sd's "more"
b) choose Recreate mount scripts
c) choose ext3
10. reboot the phone , it will take 2-5 mins , so don't remove the battery nor the SDcard .
11. after it boots , go to link2sd , then Storage info , you should see Sdcard 2nd partition mounted , this approves everything is alright
12. Here you have two choices to do , just do any of you want ( choice "a" is easier )
a) for ones with the terminal , type in "su" , then type in "a2sd cachesdreset"
b) for ones with adb , enable USB debugging then open a cmd , cd to the adb location , then type "adb shell" , then "su" , then "a2sd cachedreset" .
13 . Now the phone should reboot ( it would take 2-5 mins , don't touch battery or SDcard )
Additional : Now since you got a 2nd partition , you can link apps to this partition , by pressing any app or multiselect a group of apps and select the Create Link option (for multiselect , press Menu then Actions) , it might require you to quick reboot for every linked app but this will backup and free your internal memory and it is very useful for Large apps and games ! More over in link2sd setting there is an option to Autolink any newly installed app , so flick it !

You would need to download and install Xperia CWM Auto-Installer from the market. It's fine because you're already rooted.

dude u r amazing really, so helpful, thanks so so so much,as u said , deleted the partition and my phone detected the card u saved my memory card and all data otherwise I was just going to buy new memory card yesterday . K , now plz give some light about ce\wm recovery, altough you have explained me the method, but rather i have to firstly insatall it through google market and then it will rebot into cwm module ? also can u explain what is the role and function of rebooting in cwm recovery as I hace read so much about it, because it is used in many other applications llike applying new themes in phone etc.
When you first used the MiniTool Partition Wizard, were you following any guide? Or were you trying it out on your own? Because there's a well-written guide on XperiaBlog on setting up Link2SD with MiniTool.
You need to reboot into recovery because you can't access it like a regular app on your phone. (The Xperia CWM Auto-Installer has an option to reboot into recovery through the app though).
Recovery is quite an important part for any phone.
- You are able to take complete nandroid backups of your ROM and data and restore them if something goes wrong.
- You need it to install custom ROMs.
- You need it to flash zip files (eg: for themes or status bar modifications etc).
- It's got a lot of advanced options including doing a full wipe, partition your SD card to name a couple.

[Solved] New SDCard formatting and flash new ROM

Hi, i want to buy a new bigger SDCard for my ArcS and have 2 questions
In the shop near me they have a Sandisk Ultra 32GB.
But the Android formatted version is not in stock, just the normal one for PC, and it´s cheaper about 5€ (~7$)
Can i format this normal one in CWM (i have Custom Kernel) for Android (extSD with 2GB ext3 should also be partitioned).
Second Question is: must i first flash the stockROM 587 with flashtool to this new and empty card (and maybe select exclude kernel in flashtool, otherwise i think i must relock the bootloader?) ,
or can i just put the zip from the custom ROM or my Nandroidbackup on it and flash via CWM?
Thanks in advance :good:
Format and partition the card with CWM, copy your old files to your new card, done. Not sure what led you to ask the second question.

You can format also from PC (it's more friendly i think), if you want use Link2SD, you make two partition, first in fat32 size 20-22 Gb where you put tour data (photo, music ecc...) and second 8GB in ext2/3/4, second partion is used from Link2SD for link-app. Two partiotn must be primary, and you must to create firt the fat32 partition and than the ext.
Second question, you put zip rom and flash it from cmw. I think that it no problem.
Thanks for reply XperienceD , so i will buy the PC formatted card. :good:
My second question was about, that i didn´t know if i can install the customROM i will use when there was no android on the card before. (the customRom is stock-based),
and i thought that maybe there must be some files from the original Sony-ROM on the card to install a stock-based custom-zip.
I won´t use my existing installation-files and copy them on the new card, i want to start the new card with a clean installation.
Thats why i asked about flashing the original 587.ftf, and for flashing original ROM the Bootloader has to be locked (i have read that in the guide "how to lock bootloader again" on a german Android-Forum)
So ok, i just need the customROM-zip and install it on the blank card with the CWM from Kernel, right?
Flashing WiFi modules again after ROM is also recommended i think?
Hope you understand what i mean, cause english is not my native language

Yes i will use Link2SD for the extSD, i also have it now on the original Sony 8GB SDcard with 1GB ext3.
But you say about 8GB for extSD partition, i have read that for best compatibility the partition should not have more than 2GB?
I will use Paragon Partition Manager on my PC, i think that will be the easiest. First create the FAT32 an then the ext one. The FAT has to be the first on the Partitiontable, i knew that.
For Link2SD the second should be ext3, thats what people say in ArcKnight Kernel thread.
btw: yanner2012, sorry for not clicking "thanks", but i have reached the limit for today , i will do it tomorrow. :good:

ext no limit do not worry. It's also my configuration and no problem :good: The partion's sizes is my advice but you can custom it. I don't advice more 8Gb for ext partion...you reserve more size for fat32 where you put your data (photo, ecc..) .
@yanner2012
OK, so i will make about 3-4GB.
I think that´s more than enough. At the moment i have 200mb free from 1GB on my extSD.
I don´t have so much apps/games on the phone, for games i have a good pc
Thanks again ! :good:

[Q]Recovery partition

Okay, so I'm sure almost everyone read on the XDA portal that the Xperia T has an empty 300 MB partition. So the developers made that partition the recovery partition.
So, I'm wondering why we can't get a recovery partition.
The Xperia S has 32 gigs of inbuilt storage, and that's quite a lot. It's divided, though, so you only get around 24 gigs for the 'sd card'.
But what if we take 300 MB from those 24 gigs?
We could create a whole new partition, just like the Xperia T has!
Any ideas if this would work?
I'm no developer, just thinking out loud... Might help a developer
Not sure it works like that, I don't think internal storage can be re partitioned to be used like that. I think they were able to get it to work on the T because Sony had left 300mb of un partitioned space on the phone. Doomlord said he'd try and get it to work on the S so it might be possible.
What I want to know is this, Xperias have a recovery FOTA partition but access to it is blocked after the boot loader is unlocked, so why is access blocked and is there no way to regain access to it?

Wait, there's a separate partition for that?
Okay, I know what FOTA means... When it comes to OTA updates, but an entire partition?
Cool...
So why not just contact Sony and ask them for some help? They are the 'developer friendly company', no?
I don't think we can write to or boot this partition as it is.
Maybe not, but, seriously, why not partition the SDcard...?
It CAN be partitioned and left there abandoned, the question is, can we get it to boot?
Better yet, why not COMPLETELY format the eMMC chip and partition it from scratch? Then we can make it like an HTC device, with the gazillion partitions before boot
