Unlocked Nexus 5x ; Forever Loop - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just unlocked my brand new Nexus 5x, but it unpredictably went on a forever loop on the loading screen before the main home page. I do not want to lock my phone but that could be my only option. In other words, I need some help.
Thanks!

Stuck on Google Logo Screen

I have 2013 Nexus 7 wifi and have been happily using it since I bought it back in September however I woke up this morning to find my Nexus showing the white google logo and it appeared to be stuck there. I powered it off by holding the power off button until it turned off however when I turned it on it was get stuck at the same place. I can do volume up and power and it wil bring me to a screen that says start, restart bootloader, recovery mode or power off
The fastboot mode info says:
Product name - flo
Variant - flo 32G
HW versions - rev_e
Bootloader Version - FLO-04.02
Carrier Info - None
Serial Number - not important
Signing - yes
Secrure Boot - enabled
Lock State - locked.
This device has never been unlocked or rooted.
If I choose recovery I get taken to the white google logo then a short time I get an android with a red triangle with an exclamation mark inside it. If I leave it there it will eventually show the white google logo again.
Is this terminal and should I return? I can't see any way to factory reset.
Thanks

When you get to the android with the red triangle screen press volume up and power. That should get you into recovery.

Hi thanks. I can get into recovery and when I try to factory reset I get a whole slew of errors about not being able to locate the cache. I try and wipe the cache and I get the same errors. Not sure what to try now.
This error was mentioned before . You can try flash a factory image but warranty is the best option

Thanks. I'll return it.
I had the exact same thing happen today. Wasn't able to get anywhere with adb in recovery. I'm returning it.

Phoned ASUS today and they told me that it would need to go back under warranty. Just waiting for them to come back with a courier pickup notice. I'll probably be without it for a couple of weeks.
Did you take picture of your n7 before return it? I read people complaint Asus will do some damage to the n7 skin.

This is a bit late ant you probably already did a warranty replacement, but I had a similar issue. It wouldn't boot past the Google logo screen, but I fixed it by downloading the KOT49H system restore image, extracting the system.img file, and manually flashing it in fastboot. It booted straight up no issues.
just got mine back today after same problem
took asus about a week to get my n7 repaired. seems to be working fine now. though no idea on what the actual problem was. any takers?

Had to RMA mine to Asus within 24 hours of receipt for this very same issue. It was a failure on the motherboard and they had to replace. They noted the problem as LED (Indicator) Error on the packing slip as the reason for the repair. Hope you are still under warranty. You did not get a 16G from the recent ebay sale for 129, by any chance, did you? A few people have reported the same.
Mine just did the same thing.... screen started acting wonky, it did a reboot and BAMN google logo. No recovery, only bootloader. No amount of factory image flashing brings it back.
Have no warranty due to it having had a screen replacement in the Spring... ...
And it's a Deb. This tablet has been a terrible experience.
So pressing the power button does not cause the device to boot normally (the second screenshot)?

Nexus 5x Stuck on Google Logo with Padlock that's unlocked on the bottom

Attempted to root, now on screen with google logo and an unlocked padlock on the bottom. Been waiting around 5-10 minutes now, still hasn't booted yet. How can I fix or is this regular?
Thanks!

Try rebooting. Got hung there once before, but was OK after reboot.

Nexus 5x bricked

Hello guys,
My nexus 5x is not working, it only shows a black screen and the Google logo.
I can't go into recovery mode and my nexus is not showing in LGUP.
What should I do?
Mine did this and now fails to power up, just spontaneously bricked itself and I haven't used custom ROMs on it or unlocked the bootloader either.

Pixel XL stuck in Boot Loop after PPP5 installed

My Pixel XL downloaded and installed PP5 yesterday, seemed to go okay. Initially, it would boot but spontaneously reboot after 1-2 minutes of run time. But it degraded and now it is stuck on a white screen with Google, and reboots before the animation begins.
I can get into the Bootloader, but when I try to select Recovery mode it just goes back to the white boot screen and repeats. In Bootloader I can select Off, but it only shuts off for a short time then reboots on its own into the boot loop.
This was running stock Android, bought from Google Play store, unlocked, 32GB version, and I had run the previous 3 versions of Android P Beta without problems.
Is there anyway I can do a factory data reset without the Recovery mode?
Thanks,
...Patrick

You didn't relock the bootloader did you? After unlocking it?

No, I did not lock the bootloader. The phone was originally unlocked, and I never rooted it. It was completely stock. But it was definitely acting crazy....at one point I did see the Recovery mode but I did not know at the time what to do with it. Once I had a minute to research that on my laptop then it would never go back into Recovery mode.
So maybe I inadvertently locked it, but not that I know that I did it.

I ended up asking uBreakiFix to diagnose the problem....and they indicate it is a bad motherboard.
It can be repaired for $380. I passed, and now own a brick that flashes from one Boot to the next, occassionally running for 30 seconds, but not quite long enough for me to run Reset Factory Settings.
Oh bother, < 2 years old.
