Im completely stock, rooted 4.0.2 an been running fine until now, recently downloaded wifi tether an now charging time nearly doubles, it took me longer than usual to get full charge can it be due to my recent acquirement of wifi tether? Which is the only app I've installed since I've noticed the slow down...
Why did you install a tethering app when there's one built in already?
If you suspect the app, uninstall it for a day or two and see if there's any change.
Charging via outlet or usb?
Are you using the phone while charging? It doesn't charge as fast while in use. And if you're using tether while charging slower charging still applies. Obvious but that prolly nswers your question.

I tried to use the stock one that comes with the phone but it says i can't due to not having the hotspot feature, I guess I'll uninstall an see if the app is the culprit...
I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGH-T989), with TWRP 2.6.1.0 recovery, rooted with Stock Jellybean 4.1.2 and have an issue with a pesky wakelock that I can't find. This wakelock sets the CPU to 66% of max (1080mhz) and holds it there. It occurs whenever I plug in the power cord and the wakelock will remain in affect until the phone is rebooted. A soft-reboot (using either Xposed Installer or Android Tweaker) will not break the wakelock. Only a full reboot, where the phone goes black and the Samsung progress indicator stripe is displayed will remove the wakelock. The soft reboot that just shows the Samsung GS 2 splash screen won't cut it.
Any idea where to look. I think this is a kernel lock bug since a soft boot won't clear it. Is there a compatible replacement kernel for the STOCK 4.1.2? I tried Beanstalk 4.3.1 but had lagging and didn't want to lose the Wifi calling feature from stock rom.
If there's no replacement kernel that is compatible with the stock 4.1.2, how about a replacement rom that supports Wifi Calling which I understand is deeply rooted in TW and the kernel?

Yes, this!!!
Don't know about cpu speed, never checked....but my phone won't sleep while charging ever. Always thought that was normal. And a full reboot after unplugging the phone, every time, is a habit I've had for a long time. It used to, still does, cure a few issues. One used to be media scanner. It would run wild until you rebooted after a charge, or force stopped it. Another issue has to do with chargers other than the Samsung one....phone would not sleep after a charge.
So anyway....unplug and reboot. Every time and you'll be fine after charging. Unless its another issue completely.

@kj2112 super shocked you didn't know about it brother your always on top of everything its actually from one of the best DEV's IMO @eugene373 he knows his ISH! i actually still use it bought the paid version and it works like buttuahhh, but i also stick to 4.2.2 ROMs on the s2 for now until all the settling and bugs get ironed out

I've seen that JMT supports Wifi Calling. Do you know of any other roms that still have Wifi Calling? Also, since the latest stock rom was on Android 4.1.2, does this mean all custom roms that provide Wifi calling will be on 4.1.2, or is a higher (4.2.1 or 4.2.2) available with that feature?
You might have to go back few pages on the development thread, but anything that is TW 4.1.2 will have wifi calling. Jamison904 has one Rushing has one a few others I'm on my phone so can't link them but give it shot  an as always make a back up

LOL. Of course I've used cpu sleeper....it was great!! Just haven't needed it in some time.
I meant I never noticed what my cpu is at while its charging. Pretty sure its not over 1000....
Hopefully deep sleep won't be an issue on my G2 when I get it. Come on Christmas! My 5 year old daughter is getting a galaxy tab 2 I think. Want the sd card for her movies. She filled up our N7 fast! LOL Is cpu sleeper for any phone??

FYI, I did confirm last night that the wakelock is not taken if the phone is charged on USB instead of AC charger. I charged last night using my USB port and I was even able to power off my phone (to the "charging" indicator at least). Usually the phone will not power off while charging on AC. It will power down and then start back up automatically. I'm using a PPA 2.1A 4-port charger but I think this also occurred on the Samsung charger as well. It seems to be that the wakelock that is taken due to the AC charger gets orphaned after the phone is removed from the charger, but I still can't explain why the phone won't power off when charging on AC.
Hi,
I'm experiencing a problem of which I'm not certain it's ROM related or Android 4.3 related. My device doesn't recognize anymore when it's charged by a wireless charger. It does charge, also with normal charging rate but it simply doesn't detect it's being charged wirelessly.
I'm really annoyed by this issue because I'm using a Tasker profile which switches off al my lights (Milight) and kills my notification LED and sound when Im going to sleep and does the same in reverse when lifting my phone from the charger (trigger = wireless charger, wireless charger is right next to my bed). Does anyone else have this problem?
Secondly, the notification LED is not blinking while charging despite all options I try (very slow, slow, normal, fast, etc.). And yes, I also tried this without tasker running (so my tasker profile won't effect my notification LED settings).
I hope someone can help me out.
Device: E986
Rom: Vanir Stable Build - 4.3.1 12/6/2013
Update: same issue on CM 11, no one can help me out? :s
Can someone at least let me know if they also experience this problem on 4.3 or 4.4 please??
How do you enable offline charging leds...nothing lights up when charging with phone off. Charging status can be checked by depressing power button when charging, but no led lights. Currently running [ROM][KERNEL][4.4.2/4.3] Quantum v3.21 & QuantumKernel 1/16 on galaxy s3 i747 d2att. Have tried enabling different settings in display & lights...battery options etc. Is this possibly a kernel feature that needs to be addressed? Thanks
I think turning on kernel would mean turning on the phone - CPU and all. If I am not wrong, battery charging circuit is the one that kicks in when the phone is switched off and charging applied. I see this happening independent of phone processes when phone is off.

Would that mean the feature is controlled by the rom? Charging leds seem to work properly if phone is being charged while on. I can restore to Hyperdrive 4.1.2, which I have on nandroid in which the charging leds work properly. The Quantum 4.4.2 is based on the CM11 nightly rom...I've seen nothing in that forum about this. I'm limited to where I can ask about this because of posting rules. Thanks for responding.

Yes. That's what I feel. I feel the LED is controlled by phone software, wherin the battery level you see is controlled by charging circuit that should be separate from phone software.

OK, thanks for helping with the explanation...guess I'll just have to hope some future update fixes this feature. It's not a deal killer with the rom, just inconvenient when charging with phone off.

From what I have observed thus far, charging battery with phone off gets routed via a separate circuitry, without activating any of phone functions. This enables battery to get charged faster too. Not sure if anyone would alter a functionality this core level.
To Be sure in what I am saying, I just restored my Hyperdrive backup, & charging led works fine with phone off. CM nightly also has no charging lights...maybe just something left out of the mod or a hidden setting. Maybe someone else will address this in the Quantum Rom section. Thanks again for spending your time on this!!
Oh. Now that's new to me. Maybe I missed something. Sorry.

I feel as though every time I install a custom ROM on this phone, the phone takes forever to charge compared to unrooted stock. I was wondering if there is possibly something wrong with my phone or the CPU settings on the ROM that could cause this to keep happening on my phone? It takes like a good like 2 hours to get up 30%, and that even happens when extreme power saving mode is on. And when all my data consuming apps are greenified. I am currently running NuSense 4.4.3 Version 7.8. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
I'm running the same Rom and charged my phone from 0 to 28% in about 30 minutes. It might be a bad charging cable or bad wall base. If you're not using the oem wall base try that. Sometimes cheap wal mart cables cause slow charging as well. If replacing all of that doesn't work then you might have a bad battery.
I'm using this rom: ★ ☆ [ROM][4.4.3] NuSenseSIX | Official Sense 6.0 | KitKat | 6.06.401.1 | m7wlv | Global | V4A | Xposed | Sense 6 Toolbox | Motion Gestures | RC7.2 [06-22-14] ☆ ★ and using the usb cable which came with the phone. Charges with same speed as locked/stock. It charges longer if I leave to drain less then 14%. The most it was charging it was 1 hour and little bit more but again, cause it was drained a lot. Power saver mode went on by itself.
And you're both running nukernel with it too? I've never had slow charging with this build. It sounds like something else is giving the two of you problems. Maybe a governor or your clock speeds.

My kernel is: 3.4.10-NuK3rn3L-4.4.3_v16 [email protected] #1 SMP PREEMPT
Maybe try not using greenify and see if charging still takes that long. While you're at it look at the gpu settings in trickster mod and make cure that the min and max cpu aren't stuck at the highest settings. Also, if you chose to have overclocking as an option in aroma during the flash. Check to make sure that the default max isn't set to whatever you chose the max to be. I really don't know what else to say to help except maybe to flash stock rooted and see if the issue is still present.
I mean I just ran completely stock cpu settings. And the default kernel that came with nusense. Idk. Sometimes it charges fine. Other times it will take hours to charge. Like some nights I'll put the phone on the charge at 30%, sleep 8 hours or so, wake up and look at my phone, and it only says 60%. Like I'm not sure what it is. I've also had this problem before I used greenify
I'm not using any additional apps for my battery and everything is okay with it
Make sure to check the kernel settings with trickster anyway. Especially since you haven't messed with them at all. If you haven't done a full wipe in a while give that a shot as well. If all else fails use a battery monitor such as gsam or better battery stats to make sure you don't have something creating a wake lock.
I'm just a noob but I had a similiar issue a few days ago. Battery was draining quick and charging slow. It ended up being an app that was running even though closed it, had to go to app manager and force close the app. No issues with charging afterwards.
To remove the possibility of third party apps being the culprit, just reboot into safe mode (A PM options has it). Then do a test charge. I am fairly certain it is an app causing your issue, everything you say it isn't, just think of the apps Google restores from the play store upon logging in on first boot.

That's kind of why I suggested getting a battery monitor before. It will tell you exactly what app or even if the kernel is using up to much juice. Safe mode will tell you for sure if it is an app but you'll never be able to figure exactly which app.
