I recently got my AT&T Note 4 (yesterday, actually) and it updated to 5.1.1 (Unsure what it was running before hand) and I am wondering if there is a root for 5.1.1 on the ATT note 4?
Nope, not currently.

Not at the present moment. I'm in the same situation. I went with the Note 4 because the 5 did away with removable battery and expanded microSD. I just got mine last week and it has 5.1.1 on it. So I guess we just have to wait it out for now. I've subscribed to this thread and hope there is a root soon!
I knew I shouldn't have updated! But I didn't do it on purpose, I think it did it on it's own or while in my pocket...
Yeah I stupidly updated not realizing there wasn't a root available and well I'm here to join the club lol
Should be soon.

That's normal. Samsung assumes that if your messaging app is open, and your screen is on, then you will be able to see new messages appear on the screen. There's no way to change this unfortunately.
It sucks for me too because I use multi window sometimes, and the messaging app is open along with something else. I often make the messaging app smaller until I need to reply in a conversation, but I have to constantly check for new messages because no sound plays (or vibration).

I really hope they can make a root soon... I wanna get a debloated ROM (I've disabled most of the crap I can through the app manager) but it still seems abit bulky, and heavy on RAM and battery usage.

Contextual Awareness
(1) Page Buddy: Your phone will smartly predict what you intend to do according to your actions. For example, when you plug in your earphones, the device automatically opens up a page with the music player.
(2) Contextual Menu: When you list up apps, you can now choose to see the most frequently used ones first. Especially convenient when you’re looking through apps to find files to attach.
(3) Contextual Tag: When you take a picture on the phone, you can tag the weather, date, and place immediately.
*Enhanced Features*
(1) Multi Window: You can open two different apps at the same time into two different windows on the mobile screen.
(2) Auto Share Shot Pairing using NFC: By setting the camera to ‘Auto Share Shot’ mode, you can quickly share your photos and videos by simply tapping their GALAXY S III with other NFC and S-Beam enabled devices
(3) Reader Mode: You can easily control the size of the text on your browser! Also, you can just click the webpage to share it!
(4) Facebook Lock Ticker: The easiest way to see your Facebook News Feeds – set your phone to show it on your lock screen.
How do these new features sound? Exciting? But wait, we still got more so come back soon for part 2!
Dammit I was just about to post this. You beat me to it

Considering most of these Note II features are not even available on the T-Mobile Note II, I'm not hopeful about the prospects of Tmo ever pushing this out.

MULTIMEDIA
Paper Artist: You can make a picture like a pop artist. Change the moods of your pictures whenever you want.
Low Light Shot: It’s always tough to take pictures in dark places. So the Galaxy S III with Premium Suite has a Low-Light-Shot function.*Get your hands on one and check out the difference!
Best Face: The problem with group pictures? Somebody always, ALWAYS blinks. Well, Best Face is your solution to that. Best Face takes 5 consecutive pictures and lets you choose the best face for each person among those shots.
NEW FEATURES AND BETTER ACCESSIBILITY
Easy Mode: For first-time smartphone users and/or those who are really really, well, lazy. This function helps you set up the most five frequently used widgets on the home screen, so you don’t have to be tired of looking everywhere to find those apps.
Sound Balance: You can adjust the balance of volume one each side of earphones.
Setup Wizard: After turning on your cell phone, you can see the accessibility menu right away on the screen.
Easy Snap: With ‘talk back’ and ‘face detection’ on your settings menu, the Galaxy S III tells you how many faces it can detect on the camera preview.

I've been using the 8.4 for a few days now and while I really enjoy the SideSync feature to sync up my Note 3 phone when it's not on hand, I haven't been able to open a keyboard to actually type anything, respond to a text message etc.

I have to launch the app each time too.
Does your battery on your note 3 not like just drop like a rock? Seems for me when it is connected by wifi direct it just drops like a rock.
I found the solution. I installed a S5 keyboard on my note 3 and it worked after that. I'm running Effortless rom on my t-mobile note 3, that's where I got the keyboard linked below.

To install that particular zip, you need root. It needs to write that keyboard to the system folder which is only writable if you have root

THIS.
Been so long I almost forgot about it.
Although with the last update, they did make the notification pictures for group hangouts bigger, but not higher quality.
Dumb question, but does my phone need to be upgraded to Android 5.0 for the watch to be upgraded? Not that there is an update for my Note 4, but I may have to hold out because of one specific application I use regularly that I don't suspect will update right away for Lollipop.
I'd update for the battery life.

This is not a problem with the Moto 360, rather with Google in general and the way they treat contacts. Google apps default to a 96x96 photo. On your phone you can set a specific photo per contact up to 720x720 (assuming you have Android 4.1+) but that doesn't fix the underlying issue, and the contact photos don't persist to gmail or from Google+. This is a really annoying situation to me, as I like to set everyone's contact photo myself, and then Google overrides it with a 96x96 of the person's Google+ photo if that exists. I don't want the person's Google+ photo, much less a 96x96 of it.

its like any stock android device . all get the updates in the same time frame . not like OEM updates .
I'm running 5.0 on my s4
And I can already access the new features mentioned in the article. Being able to hide the top notification is actually really awesome, without disabling notifications on my watch I can see the entire watch-face. Very cool. The only thing that really bothers me now is that the words "ok google" are on the screen whenever I wake my 360 up for about 3-5 seconds. It's pretty intrusive and doesn't look good on a lot of my watchfaces. I'll post photos if anyone is interested.
I believe you are looking at the update they did a week or two ago, 4.4w.2, where the enabled being able to swipe down the bottom notification without dismissing it. I think the 'ok google' thing will go away, maybe with use I'm not sure, but mine isn't doing it at this moment and it was shortly after this last update.
Just received a firmware update via OTA (about device>Software update)
This new version is: G928TUVU1BOH4 .
I just checked the Note 5 N920T and it also got the same BOH4 OTA update.
Just cannot understand why we still have no root or twrp even though our
firmwares are just about identical to the N920T Note 5.
I wonder if anyone even tried to flash the modified TWRP in the Note 5 N920T
forum which works on the Note 5?
Oh well, I guess I will just have to patiently wait and perhaps by Christmas there
will be a compatible root procedure and twrp for my G928T S6 Edge+.
Good luck,
Have a great day everyone!
Just an FYI this is a relatively small update, 112 mb. Brings us video calling from within the default dialer. Looks to only be compatible with others that have the same update, so I guess just s6 edge + and note 5 for now at least that's what TMO eluded to in a tweet.
And here's a link to the official TMO statement regarding video calling.

Me and the wife got the edge+ so it works with us. Also the OnCircle works too and it's pretty neat. I like how I can see when she's typing or read my message.
I just got the update too. Hopefully it fixes my battery life while on idle. For some reason since i purchased this phone "Android System" and the "Radio" would eat up my battery while on idle. My note 4 and Note 3 never had this issue.
It has always been a preference of mine to have a full screen image when calling someone. Rewind back some years, I believe maybe the Hyperdrive ROMs time period and this was the norm. I believe it's similar to what appears on iPhone during a call. Basically the full screen background is the contact pic of the person you are talking with. There was a mod available on XDA for my Note 8 I believe which dropped off with an OS update to Android 9 or so. I never have understood why Samsung keeps the contact pic so small, even when the sizes of the phones increased. Now, with the latest Android 11 and Samsung UI 3.0 update, there is an option to make a pic or video the background when making calls. So while this is heading the right direction, it's still not exactly there.
Anyone in the themeing world have any insight into this, as far as the capability to provide a full screen in call caller ID image as the background?

I was told by a couple developers that it wasnt possible after the Note 8 got updated, and moving forward. At least based off of the old method that was floating around for the Note 8. I feel like its setup at this point based off of the ability to add an image or video to the call screen. Just need some experienced help!

I think they threw that in starting with 3.0. I just hate the small contact pic. While I was able to customize the background with a default pic, Id rather have the contact pic utilize the screen. Tiho5 posted a link for an app that seems to work great so far. Pretty much fully customizable!
