Tonight I was playing around with my new Nexus 5X, then it suddenly rebooted. First it was kinda in a bootloop, it booted till the animated google logo, then the animation stopped and after a second it rebooted again. This happened a few times by itself (I was unable to switch the phone off, it just started over again and again) until during a new reboot the LED illuminated blue permanently and this screen appeared:

}
After that I could switch the phone off, but couldn't turn it on again, even not by holding the power button for more than 10 seconds. The screen just leaves blank, no boot image, no LED, no sign of life anymore. :crying: I also tried removing sim-card, charging, nothing works...
I received my Nexus two days ago. First of all I unlocked the bootloader, decrypted the data partition and rooted it. All worked fine until tonight...
Well, I already wrote the Google support. I hope the warranty is still valid? Does anybody else probably have another idea?
What was the root method?

I used Chainfire's systemless root (bullhead-mdb08i-boot-systemless.zip) on MDB08M.
If you can still get into the bootloader, you have to reflash the boot.img, the ramdisk of the boot image permissions got changed somehow. I got the same message when I flashed a boot.img with a bad ramdisk permissions.
You say you can turn it off but not on. Can you access the bootloader? Turn phone off, hold volume down + power button until you see the android lying on his back with his hatch open?
If you can, I'd try flashing factory images and start fresh.

No way to access the bootloader.
I guess I need a fix like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/goo...-unbrick-nexus-5-stucked-qualcomm-hs-t3043301
When I connect the phone to my PC and hold the power button for 10 secs a new device is listed in the device manager "QHSUSB_BULK". However the screen is still completly off.

1) Tell me what you can do exactly with the phone (bootloader, recovery, reboot, etc) and the reactions i.e vibrates while starting or something else
2) Your pc recognizes the phone, even if its the qualcom (I guess) and thats good
3) I'm pretty sure, that there is a way to fix it somehoe

I got that same exact screen when I was trying to flash the vendor. img and the way I got out of it was by holding the volume up and the power button and got me into this download mode which was asking me to flash firmware so I keep holding the volume down button and the power button for a long time and finally if we booted into the ROM again I hope that helped

I can't get into the bootloader at all, neither with holding volume down + power nor with volume up + power (and also with volume down + up + power). The screen just leaves black with no backlight.

Right now I can't do anything. There are no reactions, no vibrations, no LED, no screen... Yesterday I could at least get into the qualcomm-mode while holding down the power-button for 10 seconds and have the phone connected to my PC. Yesterday evening as I was trying again to get into the bootloader the LED just flashed red shortly and nothing else happened (even not the qualcomm-boatloader was accessible). I charged the phone overnight, but it still does nothing. It looks like the Nexus is really dead now.
I still wonder what happened. As I wrote I could use the phone two days long with no problems. Then it crashed/rebooted itself, I saw that screen I attached into my first post and blue light, yesterday I could at least get into the qualcomm-mode and now (after that red LED flash) really nothing works anymore.
Till Monday I'll keep watching and testing since I can't send it back on weekends. But I'm afraid that I have to get it fixed by Google/LG. Thanks for your help anyways, fortunately I still have my Nexus 4...
Some news: I can access the google bootloader again.
Whyever, during this day the phone became discharged completely again (red LED flashed by pressing the power button), but this time I charged it only for a few minutes... After this I held volume down + power and the LED was blue again and the screen was the same like the screenshot I posted. I held power to switch off the phone and next volume down + power for 10 sec immediately again. This time the bootloader was shown.
So I restored the stock image completely:
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-bullhead-bhz10i.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash radio radio-bullhead-m8994f-2.6.28.0.65.img
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
fastboot format userdata
fastboot reboot
The only thing I didn't do was relocking the bootloader.
All went fine, however, the phone still crashes upon reboot and switches off itself. I did another factory reset via recovery which didn't help. After a restart I usually get back to the blue-LED-thing, but like described above I can access the bootloader again.
So I guess something else is corrupted. Even when I use TWRP instead of stock recovery it crashes after a few seconds after use. What else differs: By holding volume down + power the bootloader doesn't appear immediately, I need to hold for about 10 seconds.
Any ideas?

i had a previous One X Dead thread here, and the help was really appreciated by me. now, a little sum up, i have a "working" one x, i'm sure coz it boots to sense and the boot animation sense plays, the capacitive buttons can be touched, but, the screen is always off, and when it does turn on, the white hTC screen is perfect, boot animation is perfect, on the lookscreen perfect, but, as soon as i touch the screen, the screen gets all messed up....turning the screen off then on, it doesn't turn on anymore.
i'm trying to get into boot loader, as i'm sure the screen will be okay there, but, fast boot is turned on, and can't turn that off and the screen is messed, and doesn't respond to touch.
any other way to turn it off completely without having to open it and take battery off the main board then putting it back on?
please guys, i need suggestions. the phone is working, it seems a software issue..
Try this:
hold the power button down. Have a stopwatch ready and after exactly 10 seconds, press volume down key and keep holding (powerdown+voldown) both keys. You should be thrown into bootloader shortly.

amazing man, i will try that! i did keep pressing the power button, the buttons light turn on then off, on then off, and after that it boots up again!
thank you! will try that now!
EDIT: it's not working, i tried five times, nothing happens, if i take both fingers off, it will vibrate and fastboot again...
i'm pretty sure it's because of the damn fastboot, as the same case is on sensation...
Hmm ok, lemme do it again but without looking at display (not easy to not look at the pretty huge thing)..
Edit: Ok I got it now. Hold the power button for about 9-10 seconds. You'll see the 3 keys flashing. When they start flashing, press and hold vol.down and LET GO of power key after the keys stop flashing (power key should kept down for 9-10 sec, no more). Keep pressing vol.down till you are in bootloader. Also, there is no vibration.
(I have fastboot disabled, but i think this is same for both).

i didn't work bro, but thank you so much for your help. it's the fastboot, i can tell. no way to bypass that, only by a battery removal.
thanks again
anyone has a different suggestion? ^^' i suck at taking apart a phone!!
I take it you have seen the Fastboot option under Power in the settings menu? Not sure if it's the same thing but just in case.....

This is what I always do to get to bootloader.
Press power until the keys flashing and screen is off, hold volume down (without pressing power button) and plug in the usb cable connected to pc. It should go to hboot, press power once to get to fastboot mode (bootloader). It never fail for me, hopefully it helps.

Arabology: Is your screen touch system working? Even if you dont see any picture? If so, hold down power key for about 5 sec and try to just "hit" the reboot/power off key on screen where it is supposed to be.

Press and hold power button. Immediately press and hold volume down (you might feel a vibrate as it goes into vibrate mode) Keep BOTH buttons pressed until it boots into bootloader. Just tried with fastboot ticked and definately works.
guys this will not work as i'm in fast boot! even if i press the turn off option on screen (btw, touch worked, because i pressed exact same place as in pic, and it turned off )....so....anybody can make me few pics, as to where to click in order to get to the fastboot option and untick it?...also, debugging? ^^' please? anyone?

i did it exactly, after that it just does nothing, as soon as i take both fingers off the power button and volume down, it will boot back normally...i hear the boot sound and a small vibrate nudge, means it booted to lockscreen already...
okay, update: i was able to make guess work and tick USB debugging and untick fastboot!
i took hours!
thanks for those who cared and helped
Another way is try power+volumeup until it restarts then try the usual method for booting in bootloader (power+wolumedown)
if you had debug usb activated you can enter in adb
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
Hi all, hope someone can help, my M8 is stuck on the red triangle screen when rebooting, the only screen I can access is the blue text android system recovery screen, with some yellow text at the bottom saying 'no cw files. skip cw instalation'
The phone is not recognised when plugged into my PC (I get the USB device connected sound) but cannot see the phone or seem to run any fastboot or ADP commands. I guess USB debug is disabled but I cant get into the phone to enable it.
This happened after rebooting following a firmware update (file specified in below pic).
I previously updated my phone to GPE lollipop 5.0.1, from stock sense and am trying to get back to sense, so this was part of the process to install viper rom which is sense based. Phone was S-OFF but no root when I started trying to go from GPE to viper rom.
Any ideas, I seem to have the option to apply from SD card, but cant run any command from PC, i.e apply TWRP recovery.
Can you get to the bootloader?
Thanks for the reply, Not the proper white boot loader screen.
just the android system recovery screen with the blue text and black background.
But selecting 'apply from phone storage' or 'apply from SD card' revealed a 2nd screen, this seems to suggest I could load up what I need via SD card, this is all I have access to atm;
I'm guessing im gonna have to put TWRP on via SD card, then look at putting a rom on?
So selecting the option to reboot to the bootloader doesn't work either? If not, you might be screwed as the option to update via sd card is for OTA updates
Thanks, I can't seem to power the phone off, just reboot via vol+ and power button, pressing the power button to try and power off doesn't seem to do anything at all.
On reboot I get the white HTC splash screen, them it goes straight to the black screen/red triangle screen but I can access android system recovery screen with the blue text and black background. above by pressing vol+ power from the black/red triangle screen.
I just seem to have the following options:
Reboot system now
apply from SD
apply from phone storage
apply from cache
Wipe/factory reset
wipe cache partition
thanks for any advise
Just to add, I used sunshine to get S-off before I converted from stock sense to GPE 5.0.1
Not sure if that has anything to do with my current issue though, I just want a sense rom back :crying:

when your in recovery mode select reboot and hold down volume down key till it boots in bootloader, follow this guide after you get into bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2733523
Think I've fixed the issue, thanks to a kind chap on another forum,
"Press and hold power and volume up until phone shuts off. Let go of power and volume up then hold volume down until bootloader comes up -_- "
The BOLD text was the little bit I was missing, specifically vol down after shutting the phone off via vol+ power
I now have unlocked s-off bootloader so hopefully will be ok from here.. watch this space lol
Well I may have spoken too soon, but I'm not quite so worried now I have bootloader access.
My PC recognises the M8, I've flashed latest twrp which seems successful from the CMD window, but the phone has now taken to freezing when on white screen 'entering recovery....'
I still cant run simple commands like 'adb devices' thou
Think I'm sorted now, after further faffing- I had to systematically flash progressively older versions of TWRP until one of them stuck, I now have a nice teamWin console!
Now to put a new ROM on
Argh, still issues, flashed viper 4.3.1 'successfuly' via twrp , goes though all the motions, selecting custom apps and stuff, reboots, then just a blank white HTC dev build screen for over 15 mins :silly:
Any ideas?

What's your HBOOT version?
EDIT: Reading through your previous posts I'm going to guess you're on 3.16.0000 - if so, this is why it's not working as you need Lollipop FW for everything to run. Can you boot into the bootloader and post the output of fastboot getvar all (removing the IMEI and serial number) and we'll see what's going on
Thanks for that, I think I may be running a firmware that's too old, that's been suggested on another forum, I've also had to reflash viper via twrp again as the phone freexez on a white blank bootloader screen on every reboot.
Can I simply push a new firmware to the phone leaving the System intact if that's the case?
here are some pics, any guidance welcome:
PLEASE NOTE the first pic shows a newer version of twrp, I downgraded to 2.8.1.0 to get twrp to work.
Thanks again
BOOM!
Thanks again, slipped the new firmware in via fastboot, and I now boot properly with viper splash screen, and WIFI works!!!
I think I just needed a prod in the right direction!!
kudos
Dears,
Today after I wiped my data from TWRP I do restart my device (Tab S 10.5 T800 Lollipop Rooted) & I'm now stuck on Samsung Logo or Battery Logo (if I plug it with my computer).
Now how can I download a new firmware (through PC or External SD card), although I can't open download mode or recovery mode through (Volume Down+Home+Power)?
Thnx n Adv.
Of course you can enter download mode or recovery mode, you just need to perform the correct steps.
Whether the tablet is off or stuck on boot screen: Hold POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER until download mode appears.
Also if you only wiped Data then let it boot, it takes 10mins at least.

I do this step many times; It back to the same screen (Samsung logo).
I think I had wiped everything (Data+System).
I read in this forum that : POWER + VOL DOWN + POWER, only works if the tablet is off. Is that right?
& how do I recover my android system after I wiped everything with TWRP?

It doesn't matter what you wipe in twrp, you can wipe every partition and still boot to Download mode.
Honestly this is nothing but pilot error. Its all about timing and make sure you are firmly holding those buttons.
Boot the tablet up to the Samsung boot screen then hold POWER +VOL DOWN(not up!) + HOME until it restarts. Keep holding for about 5 secs afterwards and you should see download mode.

Simple: Unplug your device and let complete discharge the battery. Then you have a black screen, plug it into USB, and let it charge until at least 15%. Then press and hold together three buttons: Home+Volume Down+Power (better, in that order).

Agreed, best in that order and how I do it. Like I say 99% pilot error.
I have probably soft bricked this device in every way possible countless times (comes with the territory when building) and not once had an issue getting to download mode.

1) Hard Reset = Hold Vol down and power
2) As soon as the screen goes black, press and both volume buttons and plug it into the usb (can take a few tries if they is an error somewhere)
3) This should get you to download mode
once in download mode download the A50 android 10 firmware from sammobile [ https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/#SM-A505FN ] - be sure to change the model and network for your phone.
Now you are on stock android 10 [So many reasons to use this over pie - for twrp and magisk it has worked wonders]... Follow this guild: https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-a50/how-to/guide-samsung-galaxy-a50-btc4-firmware-t4071817

Hey thx for the fast help.
I was tryed it for like 40 times and gave up to sleep a little. after that my Phone was dry agian. wenn i pluged in the dry phone to my pc while holding the vol buttons it finaly worked.
i was able to flash the phone with no problems back to a normal firmware but was still stuck in the same bootloop. but this time i was able to reach the menu to make a factory reset. now every thing works fine.
but i have an other problem now. Over night i opend my Phone and disconnectet the battery because i wasnt able to stop it. I accidentlly ripped a cable at the opening progress.
The phone still works fine but i want to know what i destroyed in case it was something important. i added a Image of a not broken one. i draw a smal red line at the point i broke it.

My mi max is stuck at MI logo and I cannot flash any ROM into it.
I have orangefox recovery and I can flash normally there but upon restart I am just stuck at the logo.
How can I remedy this situation ?
Try using Fast boot to flash a Fastboot rom via a Windows PC. That will overwrite Orange Recovery and initialise all memory partitions

Currently facing the exact same issue. Did anyone find a solution to this? My goal is to get the data (pictures, videos) from the phone and store them somewhere safe.

EDIT: I got the phone into fastboot mode. Is there any way to recover my data from the phone in this state?

Some extra information for the people who want to help:
Most recent official global rom.
Bootloader is locked.
Unknown if usb debug is activated in developer options.
Steps I've undertaken:
- Pulled the phone out of my pocket. The screen was black (but on). Phone didn't react to touch input.
- Held the power button down until it shut down. Can't remember whether it restarted instantly or after I tried turning it back on again.
- Phone turned on and got stuck on the MI screen with the "Powered by android" logo at the bottom as can be seen in the picture below.

Things I've tried:
- Holding down the power button. Phone restarts instantly.
- Holding down the power button and volume up button. Phone restarts instantly.
- Holding down the power button and volume down button. Phone restarts instantly.
- Holding down the power button, volume up and volume down button. Phone restarts instantly.
- Holding down the power button and volume up button. Releasing the power button as soon as it reboots. Still stuck at MI screen.
- Holding down the power button and volume down button. Releasing the power button as soon as it reboots. Low battery screen is shown for a split second and the phone powers down. Doesn't reboot. Turning it on again after still stuck at MI logo.
- Letting it drain the battery and plugging it in the charger after. Phone boots up and gets stuck at MI logo.
- Letting it drain the battery and plugging it into a pc. Phone charges. Doesn't turn on. White notification led is shown (like when it's charging regularly). Pc recognises it as an unknown device as shown below.
The phone is not displayed as an storage device in This PC. I've tried updating the usb driver. Not updated it is shown under USB devices in Computer Management
Updating the driver either by searching for drivers automatically via Windows 10 or downloading the usb driver from xiaomidriversdownload.com and selecting the downloaded driver folder manually did not work. It merely changed the name of the device to ADB android something. Can't remember what it exactly was.
If you are still reading, thank you. I appreciate your attention.
Does anyone know a solution on how to boot the phone properly or how to extract the data from the phone. Wiping it clean to make the phone useable again is not the focus here.
Any help is much appreciated and would mean the world to me!

hi I have the same problem with the same phone.
I have a locked bootloader, I tried to unlock it but it says i need to go to got to developer tools and sync it to my account, but since I am stuck in MI boot logo, I cant get there to unlock bootloader.
I press up and power, it restarts
I press power button and hold it restarts
I press power button and down, I can get to fastboot mode
however with fastboot mode I cant flash this due to locked bootloader,
does anyone know if I can get out of this jam? I use mi unlock and log into my account it says "Please add account in MIUI's Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status.
how to by pass all this?
My mi max 3 can only go to fastboot and edl mode (test point).
but cannot flash any official roms without errors.
i read somewhere , it's because the latest update cause the emmc chip damage.

Same with me at February 22, 2022, but I not trying to flash any roms & reset both factory and hard. I choose change the EMMC chip at service center at February 23, 2022 and leave the damaged EMMC chip until now in my house. The servicemen tolds me if you choose to continue flashing, it may be failed and totally damaged, so i leave the EMMC chip alone & removed from my mi max 3 board and then change it into a new chip.
