VS985 Questions about multirom! - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, I have a few questions. I've been interested in installing multirom for a while now but im hesitant in doing so/ I've read all the steps and info about flashing a kexec kernel but I'm still lost on a few things. Can I use CloudyG3 as primary rom? I've heard yes and no to this question. Second, can the jon777 kernel work with a marshmallow rom such as Cm 13 or xenonHD? and lastly. when i install apps on one rom, do they appear in the other rom as well or do i have to download them again? Thank you!

No to all..asop and john 777 must be the primary rom...It work great Ive been running it for like 4 mo.

Noob question

Hope this is right place to ask. When installing custom roms.. can I also install custom kernels from other people to go with those roms? Example being that i rooted and installed Fresh 3.3 with stock HTC kernel. Can i install netarchy kernel on top of Fresh rom? Thanks for any help and bearing with my noob questions.
Yes. You can install a custom kernel from a person besides the ROM author after you install a ROM. Netarchy's kernel is fantastic. Nice choice. Just make sure you download and install the Fresh compatible kernel and you'll be all set.
Thanks for the quick reply.. I had done a lil more searching and found my answer as well....
Which one of nets is compatible and between net and king which kernel is better and faster

[Q] Is it possible to CHANGE KERNEL on stock htc rom 2.3.5 rooted by nitro

Hi all:
I´ve been reading hundreds of post regarding roms and kernels and Im not sure if I can change the kernel to put for example unity v9 or 10 without changing sotck rom.
I want o OC and 2 way recording but I dont want to change rom.
Is this possible??
Thanks in advance.
No problems changing the kernel on a stock rooted ROM.
Just remember you're looking for a sense kernel, not an AOSP kernel.
Flashable from recovery.
Sent from The App that Time Forgot.
I believe you can because i also own I9001 and since there's no proper custom rom for it when the kernel was available, people had flashed that to get init.d support but i'm no dev. If you have clockwork then you can try flashing it if you want...because i never heard of flashing a kernel alone but with the custom rom.
Thanks for the answers.
Now knowing that I can do it via clockwork.
What would be a good kernel?
I was thinking in Unity v9
Thank you
Its really down to personal preference, and how the kernel runs on your DHD.
Last time I was running sense I used Lees, but I don't know if he has call recording.
PS 4ext touch recovery is really nice.

Ok thanks jagdave.
Hehe and thanks for the suggestion.

Hi people, im new here coming from xperia 2011 series. I have the e 975 modell.
Wanna root and flash custom kernel and rom. Im a bit confused cuz there seems some other modells like e973 and for sprint theres a own section. What means Sprint? So can i flash a rom from every modell or only the ones for e975. And what about roms for nexus4, did they work?
Thanks in advance.

Carrier specific roms are different... If you flash those, RIL might now work...
Also E975 and E973 and others models are same as compared to specifications but are not the same when it comes to roms and kernels :/
About Nexus 4, You have to port roms from Nexus 4 on CM10.1 Base then they will work
Thanks. Found a tut. how to root and unlock b. with freegee ( is it really just an app, so simple?).
But found nothing about how to install recovery, is it too just an app? Sorry, maybe noobish but on sony recovery were built in kernel and kernel must be flashed with pc.

When you unlock with freegee TWRP recovery is automatically installed. I think you can also choose to install cwm though the app, not sure.
edit: cwm can of course be installed later if you wish, although twrp is perfectly fine. Remember that twrp and cwm nandroid backups are not compatible with each other!

But thanks to kiwinazgul now everything is clear.
Hey guys, just downloaded the latest RC of CM10.1
Question bout the kernel which is in the zip file, should i flash the boot.img without the zip?? or just flash the whole zip and it installs both, kernel and rom. On my old Sony device i had to extract the zip first to take out the boot.img and flashing it with a pc and then in recovery the rom itself. I know that now on my e975 i can flash kernel in recovery too.

Questions over Questions.. but thanks for help.
If i wanna go back to stock, i mean restore a nandroid backup, does it restore the stock kernel too?
And the last for today, does the CM10.1 Kernel supports overclocking?

Unfortunately, Stock CM Kernels don't have features like OC
and for your App Data you have to restore Data via Advance Restore...
LG Devices have KDZ Updater for Going back to stock
Will the ThinkingBridge ROM install properly on a Canadian E973?
There's already an AOSP 4.2.1 ROM for E973 but ThinkingBridge is newer and much more updated.

Instead of flashing the same zip! Port the rom Or compile from source
I have an E973 on Telus. I read that the E970 AT&T Kernel will work on my phone, so can I use ROMs for the E970 or is the storage difference a deal breaker? Both models have 8 MP cameras so will the camera work?
What's the best custom rom+kernel combo for the e975. For best performance overall and gaming.
With stock i scored on Antutu Benchmark about 18000 ponts, with cm10.1 and kite kernel only 16000. I have a friend with a Nexus4 and he told me that he scored about 20000 points with paranoid rom and franco Kernel. I know that these Benchmarks are nothing important but i wanna show that my G has too that much of power
So which combo??

Need help choosing a rom and kernel

Hi guys,
I have a rooted gpad with stock 4.4.2 and custom twrp recovery with root.
I am looking for a stable rom that still has qpair functionality as i use it with my g2 when driving.
I also want a kernel that is overclockable and still frequently updated (some kernels are now discontinued).
I have searched a lot but still confused as to what to flash. Any help would be appreciated[emoji5]

Hi. Use this method so you can install Qpair on AOSP based ROMs (Not entirely sure if this actually works on the v500). - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2571429
If you go with a stock based ROM I would go with LRS G PAD.
Only AIC Kernel is slightly overclocked from 1.72 to 1.78Ghz.
If you are looking for speed and smoothness in my opinion I believe the best combination to be SlimKat and mani Kernel.

Thanks for the quick response bro. So if i use slimkat and mani will qpair work as well as stock or does it have any issues?

I have not actually used it myself, I do not use Qpair, I have just read about the fix. If that doesn't work another option is to do what this guy did here on post 97. - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=48452252&highlight=qpair#post48452252
